He's just a recurring segment at this point. Oh man, I just live here. He lives here. I just live here. We don't let Scott leave and occasionally if he's in the house at the same time as us recording the pod, we'll bring him in for some insider knowledge. I also find it just less awkward than having him hovering around just putting him here instead. True, yeah. And I don't get distracted by the computer game this time. That is true. What are you playing at the moment, Scott? Nothing.
27There's a lot going on here, like pattern-wise, between the three of us. We're taking a blast through the pass. Yeah, Danny, it's a strong outfit. I know you're going to talk to us about it, but we should probably start off with why you're wearing one of the worst parallel t-shirts I've ever seen in my life. Do you actually not like it? No, it's awful. Do you know what? This is actually probably the strongest one. It's made out of pool, I know. It's probably the strongest one that I bought of the three. So I've just bought three golf shirts from Depop, I think I actually bought them from. It is now, we're in Chav Boy Summer again, boys.
02I don't know if it's just a golf phase or if it's going to seep into the mainstream but a lot more golfers now wearing stripes and shirts that you'd see in the early 2000s something that you can imagine being very like jeans and shoes footballers at the pub so if you can't see this it's quite like a thick striped sky blue and navy they can definitely see it even if they're not watching they can see it you're saying it's like a chav thing but I don't know because I swear there's all these new cool golf brands at more streetwear rather than chav. But I still feel like that was... I think this is what I would have seen for however many years.
37I don't think there's a new thing for gold. But it feels people are now going back towards that, whereas you get brands like Manors and... They've got a Rebo collab. Oh man, Manors are brilliant. Manors and Malbon are smashing it, but I think it's coming to a point now where people are starting to buy older polos from the early 2000s, and it's definitely making more of a surge. So this actually doesn't fit me as I thought it would. I wore a true medium when I bought this in a large, hoping that it would be... I want the sleeve to go to my arm crease. I want it to be oversized where it is very old Tiger Woods, where it does...
14How would you describe it? It's a longer, short-sleeved top where it does come to your elbow crease. It's like the three-quarter lengths of the t-shirt world. Kind of. Of the polo world. Yeah, but not. Free of the polo t-shirt. Obviously not too much. it's just gonna look bigger because I got another one which is a size large but it comes down to my knees it's definitely an old-school XL or a new-school XL but it's an old-school large and it's it fits actually quite amazing because it's not too baggy it's just slim but long and I think a lot of brands for polo shirts and that now I mean I was trying to chat to the Lyle and Scott boys I mean I've got no way in the game to do a golf line but I'd love to give some some unsolicited input about doing stuff like mock neck polos in great colours and have them long sleeved because at the moment it's all just muscle fit and I think obviously we're straying away from that so yeah we're going into this so my top line from that is that you think that golf is influencing mainline fashion that's what you said, you said it's chan-poi-sarmot and then you said because of golf but I mean a lot of the golf polos can sneak into everyday wear I'll be going to the pub in this It's more of a preppy look, but I guess it's like a sports max preppy kind of.
29But I don't know if there's golf that's doing that. I wish, I hope it is. How well could it be? Sportswear, street style. Which sports? Well, I mean, obviously Wimbledon's a big deal right now. So everyone's dressed and all like super preppy, but that's a different. Well, I mean, it's kind of. Tennis is just too techy, I think. Tennis does look good, but it's too technical to wear. but then you've got brands like Palms like what I'm wearing which is sort of like a play on a tennis brand yeah Casablanca yeah very true which is not traditional it's not very sportswear but like they have roots in that sort of tennis culture I would say little sexy two pieces yeah yeah 100 % I mean I don't know about Chavboy Samurai it'll creep up on you we'll get there I was chatting to Max LePage about it and he was like I'm all over it I've been looking at these kind of polos and I'd just ordered these three the day before so there's something in is it just because you both play golf yeah that's it no of course I mean like I do wear these shirts out now as well I think it's I like this look does that say more less about you liking fashion and more just you just want to be near golf at any sort of juncture in your life yeah I'm dressing less and less fashion it's now turning into what I'd wear in in Drift in like 2005 going to play heads and volleys so are you now saying that you are a chav Is that what you've become I didn't want to use The word chub either Because it makes it sound a bit It's derogatory It's the gross in it Yeah I'd say He's from Kent So he's allowed to I can't I'm working He's London working class Yeah but anyone From those areas Is actually posh We've got the old school chubs We don't have any road men We've got old school chubs Bro We've still got What is it Until you see someone Slick it back in a Hollister polo You don't know chub I don't know the way that is I don't want to say the word chub And then say it about Four times in a row Yeah sure I'm sorry If anyone what you're about with sleep back in a Hollister polo to me that's more like wide boy no no but then that was like that was like a tuxedo to them back in 2015 that were the pair of chinos and some boat shoes but then like yeah that's spice boys to us no no but then that's like we're getting into politics here I think we're not educated enough to have this conversation about offending people so talking about chavs you're wearing Burberry as well it's quite nice segue into it the OG vibes I quite like this I decided today that I hate it but thank you you decided last time that you hated it but the more I see the more it's grown on me it's like I said to you since I've had my hair cut today it's grown out and I look like Zoolander and in this shot with my hair like this I looked in the mirror earlier and I kind of blew steel a little bit and I was like yeah but the question is would you rather look like Zoolander or Ibrahimovic because that's what you were getting before I like you with long hair but I like it as it is now I quite like this Zoolander I would say Zoolander though yeah not the second one though more like handsaw though if you've seen the film i'd rather be a handsaw but anyway never mind uh what have you been up to scott you just come back from kent rest of recuperation yeah uh i just find uh you know we live in the heart of shoreditch and it is lacking trees and i like trees i like clean oxygen uh so yeah i've gone i've done some i've laid some patio saw 28 weeks 28 years later how was it it's actually really good people say it's supposed to be really shit then other people said ignore all the reviews it's one of the best films I've seen in years I want to see that and I want to see the F1 film oh yeah I watched a bit of the F1 film actually I found a stream but it's someone recording it inside a cinema so it's like go to like a Curzon they have the smaller ones like it's not as intimidating but no it's really good I watched all three of the films in one day I had horrible nightmares that night horrible is it a zombie film?
12yeah I hate zombies I think it could happen but that's a whole different podcast for a whole different day for a whole different group of people but how do you think you're going to get along in the zombie apocalypse oh he's dead I'd kill myself he would kill himself what's the point of surviving a zombie apocalypse you're listening to so much shit you're living in no but like I think it's literally a topic that could go on for an hour so there's no point getting into it yeah I'd shoot as many as I wanted to until I've still got a bullet left and use it myself where's the gun you just expect to have some fucking some foreign weapons you'd stick your fucking head in the oven what would we do in somewhere like this would we be safe what in this building yeah yeah it's three doors double vault yeah do you reckon the zombies got fobs they're not getting in I think the thing is that gets you is like the classic humanity of like oh like if you got bit and I was like oh no no I'd fucking you'd be gone mate if Scott got bit though would you not like put him in that room Don't kiss my neck.
14Just chain him up there almost like a pet. Yeah, 100%. Like a Sean O 'The Dead. Yeah. But anyway, the styling in that film, unrelated, well, very related, it's very good. Aaron Taylor Johnson, it's kind of like this real, obviously it's utilitarian, I can't say the word. Utilitarian. That's the one. Obviously it serves a purpose and everyone's kind of like tropes of humanity, survival and all that, but I was looking at him and I was like, fuck man, God, he dresses good. I mean, he dresses good out of film and in film. Also F1, Brad Pitt is wearing a Sunspell jumper that's gone crazy. Sunspell's since that.
48And his styling for the film in general looks really, really cool. You should definitely watch it. I know, yeah. I mean, I was just in Yorkshire and I just thought, hold on, let's see if there is one of those websites that lets you just watch it. And I couldn't find it until I searched it. And it was obviously not advertising because it wasn't a proper stream. It was a video of someone filming it. Yeah, you've got to wait for the HD ones to come out if you want to do that. Seems quite good though. I watched 10 minutes and it is quite gripping. I'll give them that. I'm glad that you watched someone recording on their phone this massive like million dollar blockbuster that's supposed to be seen.
20Just for you. Although we did say that there is a small, small, small, small chance that me and Danny are in the film. Yeah. Because we were at Silverstone last year when they were filming. Oh, I remember you saying that. So like, when they're like filming on the pit walk, we might just be in the background somewhere and I'm gassed to find out. I think you should definitely... Let's go to cinema and just get them to pause it. Say a point five speed. Yeah, just scream really loud every five minutes and then they'll shut it down. I think. Perfect. You know how you love celebrity styling? Mm-hmm.
47Have you seen Nicholas Holt, what he's been wearing for Superman? I just saw it on the way here. He's going for this kind of soft boy, like a lot of vests and trousers and stuff. He looks good. No, I think he looks great. I think his arc is crazy from like skins to, I think he did a bunch of silly films like cold, warm hearts, warm bodies. It's where he's like a zombie and the power of love makes him human. Fuck you. I never wrote that. Fuck you. But like... The sort of doesn't like zombies. he's quite terrified he's done a lot of research that's why but no he looks he looks great yeah I was quite impressed because I just think that compared to like Brad Pitt which we were talking about a couple of weeks ago it's all quite wearable like obviously he is Nicholas Holt so he looks great in it but you can imagine I could kind of do something similar definitely where some of the Brad Pitt stuff you're like unless you're Brad Pitt you're not pulling it off no I agree it's a lot of like colour blocking and just like simple jumpers with like just clean trousers like it's really nice and i think yeah it's achievable also affordable like you could replicate that from uniqlo yeah literally i'm having a look now and yeah i see what you mean yeah yeah so that's not no you want to i'll get it so this one yeah yeah nicholas holt's superman presto style is villainously good yep all right let's have a look at some of these i've seen a few bits about it uh She's got Bottega suits.
07Cool. Fair enough. That's cool. That looks like bloody item aura. Looks like Elias' brand. Yeah. Very cool. These are the ones that I'm talking about. It's just the styling of it. It's simple. Obviously, that bag probably costs more than me. But like... It's a lot of Bottega. That's Prado. No, it's not. But I think also the bleached hair softens him, makes him a bit more... He can dress down because he's approachable with it. It's a bit more fun. It's also an interesting look because obviously Lex Luthor as a character is completely bald. So is he not bald in the film then? No he is. Oh. So he's kind of like mimicking that with the bleach blonde hair but like not.
46He's got hair but he looks like he doesn't have hair if that makes sense. Would you know you're hair blonde? I've done it before. When I had like long long hair it went ginger. Yeah. Have you ever sat I mean probably not but like in a hair salon in the middle of Kent for four hours. rough how long it takes like my arm is yeah four four or five hours to get mine done originally no wonder I kept it so long when I had the thing I got it all done to start off with and then it grew out because I couldn't be I was fucking sitting there again all that time how about you I so some a couple people have tried to get me to do it especially over the last few years but I wouldn't because I'm so scared of having more fun I'm quite lucky with the state of my hair yeah so I'm so scared of like doing it and then it just all falling out or something like that.
33Yeah, fair. Because someone sent me a picture, I think it was Tom of the new Josh Hartnett film and he's got a bleach hair. Oh, fight or flight. He's like, this looks like you if you bleach your hair and I was just like, I'll take that, but no fucking chance. But now that I know it, I don't need to do it. Yeah, exactly. Someone goes, what does it look like? I was like, it just looks like that, it's fine. You should do the AI that Scott did. Oh, they're terrifying. Don't do that. Did you see them? I did see it, I did see it. I'm all my Romanian cousins. who else did it turn you into brad pitt because i put brad pitt's hair as a basis and also with ai obviously it remembers what you put in and i've played around with shoots um concepts and stuff being like brad pitt in a desert gladiator theme blah blah blah so my ai thinks everything i do is brad pitt theme now so fanatic yeah uh brad pitt f1 then i suppose that's a nice little segue into Dan yep how excited you to talk about this do you know I'm all left one doubt in the best way thank god I feel like I've chatted about it too much to people IRL that I don't know what to say on the podcast okay well this is where it counts this is where it counts this is where it counts this is where people are listening with their checks ready to write well first and foremost thank you very much to Hugo and Visa Cash App Racing Bulls uh so I attended the brunch on Thursday.
50So F1 runs really Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Friday practice, Saturday qualifying, race Sunday. I went on Thursday for a brunch. So we turned up and it was like the Red Bull... I don't know how to describe it. It's like a... not a patio. It sounds really... dumbs it down a lot. It's almost like its own little... Pen. Pen, yeah. It's a good way of putting it. Yeah, it's a pen. So you've got like a bar, an inside, and then on the outside there's like a big, not fake skate park, because it is, but like a mobile skate park. So there's a lot of Red Bull athletes. So I don't know if any of you boys are ever into skate park stuff.
29Chris Kyle was there. So Chris Kyle's a legend. There was Danny McCaskill. And if you don't know Danny McCaskill, you'll have 100 % seen his videos or clips of him before. He's a trials biker. So he does a lot of stuff. He's incredibly balanced. Did they have any scooter people there? No, they didn't. Usually they've had Terry Price. I'd imagine, but no, it wasn't there. And they had a few motorbike trials riders, but it was a bit pointless because you can't really do much on a motorbike on skate ramps. But no, it was cool. And I put it on my Instagram story and I tagged Chris Kyle saying like, because he obviously wanted to shout out their athletes, but always wanted to see at Chris Kyle in the flesh, never thought it'd be at F1.
12And he replied to me saying something like, ha ha, no way, nice one, bro. So I thought that was quite sweet in a way. Like, what, 15-year-old me would have been jizzing my pants when I worked at skate park and that. Chatted to Danny MacAskill, sounders out, asked him how often he's riding hungover, and he said most times he does these demonstrations, he probably hungover. And then, yeah, it was really good fun. And then came back, did karaoke and that with all of you lot. And then, yeah, went back again on Sunday, and my God, it was rammed because it's a Red Bull area. so the first time we went was just with Racing Bulls this time it was everyone from Red Bull so it was whoever was there from the Red Bull team, whoever was invited by Red Bull and whoever was there by what used to be Alphatari now Racing Bulls so there's probably about 200 people in this area.
03Was there anyone interesting there though? So I was with Munya, I was with Mr. Bruv, I was with I'm trying to build up because I know what you're asking about as well. Wait, is he called Mr. Brov? Yeah. Have you never seen him on TikTok? No, what does he think of this chav boy, Summer? He's actually the complete opposite, bless him, as well. I'll check it out later. Right. AJ Tracy, Ellis Gilbert. I was with Getz for a while. And then, surprisingly, I got really matey with DEE. So I've now got his number. So I'm going to ask him if he wants to, first and foremost, go for a pint. we end up doing shots together and we've been getting along he's so sound and then yeah might seem to come on the pod and I reckon after knowing him for ooh 45 minutes I bet he's the kind to be like do you know what let's do it why not I reckon he's that kind of person to come on the pod so if you've got any questions for D.E.E.
02let us know I might want to be like why are you coming on this podcast he's done Chicken Shop Day and he was brilliant yeah yeah no no no he came across so well he's so like polite and funny like really not reserved but he's so laid back I remember it must be one of the first shows like that he was going to like Fashion Week it was in Truman Brewery in Shoreditch and we were at the pub that everyone goes to just like on the corner Golden Heart? Yeah the Golden Hearts we were all drinking in there and the Iceberg Show had just finished or was about to finish I just snuck out earlier something like that is this the one that Leo walked in?
37Was this only like I think Leo walked in Milan I think oh did he? and he walks past us full head to toe iceberg fit I don't think he realised the show was like five minutes so he was up rocking up and he was like I'll stand see you turn that round there was oh god there was something on that that reminded me it was come back to me yeah so F1 fun time yeah brilliant you had a really great time but last point on that you was there with a brand how would it close do you know what the collection was brilliant so it was like the Sloan collection so obviously no Sloan the artist I did say to Sloan bless him I was like uh not took him to a side that sounds really weird but I'd met him on the Thursday got along when I saw him on Sunday I was he's getting hounded I was like you're right mate he's like brother like high five me I was like are you sick of graffiti in every wall he was like do you know what he's like I like doing it I like the people but yeah it is quite a lot just kind of going there being like oh come over here and do that and then like I'm gonna drag you to somewhere else do the same thing again he's like you can imagine it's for sure that one was bigger though obviously because it was the first time anyone's ever painted on a car oh my god it's a huge deal yes oh i mean the car looks fantastic do you know what even from the starts i went to f175 the event in february and racing bulls have the best looking livery so already they're like uniform their car and just the color scheme is the best of the grid at the moment.
07And then Sloan coming in, it worked so well because it's almost quite Keith Haring-esque. You can still tell it's Sloan, but it's in that way where it's done really nicely. It's clean as well. It's very clean. It's just not maximalist. It's not minimalist either, but it's just clean. Yeah. It's a perfect mixture of both the DNAs. Did you see, though, it's not the only sort of graffiti collaboration collaboration in the last couple of weeks you see Nav with Maison Mahara yeah I put I so when I did my little business we did a collaboration with Converse yeah I remember yeah actually yeah I think maybe we're talking about you and stuff and yeah he said he was talking about that from Yorkshire doing doing well.
01Brand deals he did. Yeah. I mean, look how far he's come. He always wants to come on the pod as well. Yeah, well, we've spoken about it. So yeah, we need to get him, get him, get him on, because even the event I threw the other night, there was just random, his graffiti's randomly in the place. He's a massive celebrity. He always make, his work always makes it onto people's photo dumps as well. It's the perfect marketing. He just knows how to do it and he just knows how to sell his personality. Yeah. Also like his perfect his art in a way that is simple. like he can just do it you know what I mean it's not like he needs he's always got his paint pens on him so he can just pop it on I think I've got a signed I've seen him draw it on people's faces yeah he did it he did it on some portraits on the bottom of pizza boxes the other day yeah if we get him to do it here it'd be like Dan's plane it'd be Dan and then that plane like an aeroplane yeah see what he comes up with that's true he put down some beds you always gotta work out like because obviously it's fashion week and he's at Prada what would it be how do you reinterpret danceplaining find a way I remember the like you said or plain as in like plain like something's plain but something's plain that is the spelling of it that was kind of so I was like you'll find a way I remember my story about DW in fashion as well go on it was the first time and the only time I actually met him before this was we were interviewed by Jake Denton Snake Denton outside ooh I'm gonna want Mithra Day it was a show maybe Labrum yeah I think it was outside the Labrum show and Dwe was getting interviewed and then I got interviewed after D and then a guy as we were getting my interview done a guy fainted behind us and like crashed into the railing he was fine like I don't know what had happened he laughed it off as well instead of his Instagram but I just remember me and Dwe he turned to obviously like see what happened and I turned and I looked back and he looked at each other and were like oh that just happened and then just carried on with the idea I was like that was so bizarre to kind of I think my least favourite thing about like your interviews with Snake Denton for The Face was where you snuck in your heartburn joke oh my that's the best because it was no it was quite good it was like what's your what's your like fashion week essentials what's in your bag and you you did it and then he he looked so surprised It was awful So for those who haven't seen What's the joke?
32Well ask me what my essentials are What's your essentials? You've got to have Rennies on you Oh really? Yeah I had a man who died of heartburn No way Yeah I can't believe Gavi's gone There we go It was worth it Scott is going to be gone soon I can't believe Scott is gone You're going to be here for life mate It's the only way forward I got myself into a pickle the other day So obviously I'm working a lot with Levi's And I went into the office and they had the Nike collaboration in there. So I was like... How is it? I've actually not seen that much of it. Yeah, it's great. I'm just waiting to see the shoes because I really want a pair.
04But I saw the... Wait, have you not seen them? I've not seen the shoes. I've seen the two-piece. Have you seen what the shoes look like? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, of course. Yeah, I was going to say. No, I've not seen them in hand. It is a pair at the office now, I think. But so I saw the collection. I was like, oh my God. I took a picture of it. I put it on my story. Every fucker. Damn me. No. can you sort me out can you sort me out can you sort me out I can't even sort myself out like I don't even work for Levi's but yeah every person was asking me for it what's the best in the collection what do they have then it's a two piece is it just a two piece then and then the shoes shoes are black white and sort of blue denim is there a family and friends one as well I swear there's like a couple for general release and then Stephanie put on a photo of friends and family and I think that was like the indigo denim that's coming out well there's another one then that's maybe a different type of denim yeah I remember seeing them thinking do you know what I'd love a pair I couldn't wear them they just don't suit my what jeans no the shoes oh the 95s yeah there's the there's the three colourways of the shoes yeah but they're impossible to get basically I can imagine the release comes out I think the 10th I don't know what date it is today but it's going to be like so hard to get they did it they released them in Paris they're already 500 pounds on Stocker because the black pair yeah they'll just go up as well that'll probably be bloody pre-order wouldn't it and then yeah so that that really sort of screwed me over because everybody was like meshing can you get me them yeah please please no I can't it's it was inevitable yeah as soon as I did I was like oh I made a mistake here of course what's I moving on to it was um ah I mean sorry it's more about me that's why we're here we're all here for that because we're getting on about the um the style evolution video and what it led on to.
50Yeah, of course. So again, Danny does his weekly bite-sized podcasts. We call it that for the moment. Yeah, a minute and a half little clips on Instagram. And today you spoke about your style evolution and just style evolution in general, I suppose, and how there's obviously little different parts of that and trends work and the way you can get into a brand via other brands and stuff like that. Yeah. So again, we're going to use that as a bit of a kicking off point to chat. Yeah, because I was I've never actually it's one of those questions that you always get asked but then you never think how to articulate it properly never mind chronologically as well because that's what really fucked me up today and yeah it was bizarre going through it but really quite sweet so I rang my mum and she was telling me all the I said to her I've got about three minutes before I have to leave the house and then mum was going on and on and on being like ah when you're a kid I used to dress you in two pieces and then you'd always have matching socks to your outfit apparently I was really fussy with school shoes even as like a kid kid and I do seem to remember this as well and then going from there yeah going through my life this video will be out next Wednesday I'm pretty sure when uh when I release this one but it got me thinking uh for the one after this one goes out I want to do one on forgotten trends so it's not going to be a video about what should we bring back I just want to do a whole if you were there in this time this exists and it's mental to think about it now and I just wanted to chat to you boys about some of the things bring them back which one?
24long line t-shirts long line t-shirts we look like Randall where it's like the actual skin tight ones and then the fucking fedora on top bring back fucking formal hats and t-shirts that's such an LA look yeah yeah I've got one and you might be a bit too young for it but it was the double polo do you know what I was thinking about this and it always reminds me of you you've never seen me a photo of me no you just come back what do we say about it I don't think it will no like ERL do that with a lot of their styling Jordi Campbell you wore it it's a polo with two collars I mean not done in such a literal sense yeah I mean literally we'd buy two separate colour polos but then there was there was a brand I wish I could remember what it was called and they were like really cool it was like the one and they kind of had it stitched in two polo thing and I bought it does that not make it lame though no that was the coolest brand it was like they only sold it in like the not what was the flannels of the times choice and things like that and I remember getting into being so gassed just wearing it the whole time I've got to find a photo when I go to my mum's I'll try and find some photos for you right so would you because I could I could imagine that coming back properly well yeah I feel like that sort of no it might be referenced but it won't come back the way it was no the deep V's the top man deep V's oh my god the really deep one Russell Brandt but even like just a stand up V-neck jumper I think is now back you're not going to get absolutely killed for wearing a V-neck jumper.
49I said it to you. No, I know. But what I mean is like, I think five years ago, you weren't, no people wear a V-neck jumper. It was very much like Big Brother. Yeah, yes. Like a, yeah, like a Louis Spence. Yeah. I said it to Zach from Lylan Scott. I said, I'd really love a blood red Lylan Scott V-neck. I think it's still about just really cool again. I had the green and the black and a couple others from Lylan Scott. That was like my... Yeah. Lylan Scott, I think he's going to be the next one coming back properly. And it ties into Child Boy Summer. But anyway, next one, Janoskis. Listen, I will die on this hill, yeah.
25The great, no, it's not the great, but it was, for a period of time, they were super comfy. They're always, we just call them like the DOP shoe, because all the DOP shoes are Janoskis. Because they're like, because they're, I suppose they're all skaters, and then they're really comfy as well. And also like, weirdly smart. They're like smart. It's almost like a boat shoe. I remember going to Supreme in LA and buying Joloskis from them no that was in so I went to New York and then maybe three months later I went to LA and who knows what fucking year this was years this was before you had to queue up to get in yeah of course and I barely knew what the store was and they were really nice they showed me like the skateboard but yeah I bought from I can't think of the store in New York but the Wino's I think it was only like a few hundred made and it's like wine stains all over them and are they like it's like a cork no no so they're like they're like a white and then it's like blood stains or wine stains they're called the winers they came out at the same time as the Digicamos yeah I'm gonna go with I don't hate the idea of it coming back even though I probably wouldn't wear them don't hate it right Toms nah get out of it or some variation I mean we've what an espadrille nah espadrilles the ones that smell like flowers and shit.
43Like you get the espadrilles that smell like strawberries. You remember them? We used to sell them in Topman. It was great. Every time we got a shipment it was like someone brought it in the market. No, they had Toms. I think it was exactly Toms. They had like red espadrilles that smell like strawberries, yellow ones that smell like bananas. Toms weren't scented. They were just... No, bro. Google that. You can see them where after a summer. No, there was. There was. They were cooked. So are you saying Toms as a whole as a brand or are you saying espadrilles? Mainly Toms as a whole. Because Adidas has just done and Adidas has just done a collaboration with, I can't remember who, but it's an espadrille.
13Espadrille's probably welcome. Wells Bonner? Wells Bonner's got the, they've got a netted shoe as well, which is quite cool. I went to the party for it. Oh, Clot. Yes, Clot. Yeah, Clot. Okay, listen, I love Clots. It's not a true espadrille. No, it's more of a clog, isn't it? I like Clot as a brand, but they do some fucking rogue stuff sometimes. Oh, man, yeah. You need to see the weave of the, the hail. I did wear an espadrille one summer. And I still remember. You would not remember it, mate, because there's no chance I've done it in the last seven years. Were they Navy with that little white tour bit?
43No, they were Navy. For me, then I had a bit of a heart attack. No, because I swear you showed me a photo. No, no, I don't think there's any photos of them. No, no, there's no digital proof anywhere. But yes, I definitely wore them for a little bit. How do we feel about flip-flops? No, honestly. People now, I'm seeing it everywhere. Every brand. I have the honors and put so much money behind it. And now I know the... People's sock lists on the street with their baggy jeans with a little fucking toe pointing out. It's disgusting. yourself behave yourself disgusting yeah it's actually the worst thing anyone can do remember this is a throwback jack guinness podcast and he was like what's your red flags in dating oh my god yeah someone wears a javier oh my god yeah that is still my thing if you're wearing a flip-flop get out of here who's wearing a flip-flop on a fucking tube are you mad yeah i two thing is i don't know i don't yeah never mind i was gonna say i saw a video you were on the tube no i saw a video and it was like uh it was when it's like going barefoot at the local and it's like you know the more than size it's like there's nothing better than doing this it's a woman carrying a pint going through them how did you like brickies well no i mean i think it's like i don't hate like flip-flops on women and people are going to take that in the worst way possible i'm not into that i just think because women take better care of their feet and have nail varnish and all that's like blah blah blah like men's feet are fucked yeah if you look at my dad's toe and you compare it to like a dragon's claw they're the same fucking thing i do not want to see that bro like he's straight up he's chiseling shit off of people's feet it's disgusting i mean maybe if you're like a soho soft boy yeah you got your cute little feet there's a weird style there's a weird style that suits it and it's you know peter john george you'll know peter john he's like hangs out with the cole buxton boys he looks like beckham he's got the long bleach blonde hair he's tanned he's jacked and he wears like a two-thirds football he wears a baggy blue jeans flip-flops and like a almost see-through like all saints thingy shirt this is sounds like the one you know what on him he looks amazing he looks like 2000s beckham but it looks effortless i think yeah it's like infant rich to premier kind of shirt like it's it suits him but i wouldn't want this catching on where people try and do no that's what i'm thinking that's why i think i think it's like a it's a bullseye moment like if you can hit it right in the middle yeah you're great like you're star but if you just miss it's so embarrassing i'm not embarrassing i know you mean yeah i don't know i think everyone should experiment but i just don't want to see i don't want toes on the streets get your dusty feet away if you're gonna do it like look after your feet that would be my advice like yeah i'm gonna try and find a thought of him while we were no i know i know who it is um i just can't be asked with like thinking about when you're in the pub or whatever wherever you are someone like standing on your foot dropping like yeah drink it's just a bit grim and then Here's the thing, you go home and my house and this house is as well is a shoes off house.
29You go in as soon as you get there you take your shoes off. You can't say that. You can't say that. Anyway. So then your feet have been out so then you should have to wash your feet before you go actually in. Like imagine sitting in your bed. You know I used to go out of a girl, I'm not going to say which one, who used to put her shoes on the bed. no what's the thing about taking off your jeans when you get in bed yeah I've got a few mates who are like any outdoor clothes should not touch your bed I understand it I get it but no I'm like yeah I'm bad at it but shoes is wild yeah it's a bit gnarly another one so it's just going through stuff where it's like they don't have to come back it's just one of those where you think fuck me as if that was a real thing do you remember right there's a specific shop and you'll know the exact like style it was called G24 and it sold Gola bags big buckled belts and the thing that I'm on about the belts in the big holes no I'm on about like Superman buckles and Jack Daniels and whatever but the trend that I remember thinking oh my god I would have killed for a pair of these Geogoy like that weird salvage like grey almost Carrot Drop Crotch oh with the elasticated ankles yep insane you just wear them with a pair of Toms some Jesus beads like the rosary beads and a snapback oh my god yeah that was that was a look wasn't it oh my god a real look so but then did that person then just morph into the Rick Owens wearer weirdly yeah I guess well obviously not the same clientele but it's you could kind of have that like I mean I was on the tube the other day and therefore we got on him in my sandals and we got on and a guy at Canning Town got on in like full Rick including like a Rick bag and I was just like so if you've got enough money to be wearing that much Rick don't live in Canning Town and don't get the tube that's why he's on the tube yeah he's in Canning Town so yeah no but no I'm not I'm not cosigning that either I think that's probably the worst one I'd rather see Tom's come back I'd rather see Javiana's been worn again I'd rather see double polos I'd even rather see those top man in between his style t-shirts they're about to top man t's with Rihanna on yeah honestly but they can come back yeah and the tennis player scratching her arse you know when she didn't see oh yeah it's like the one thing you were really thinking of digging in there scratching her arse he's not just lifting up that tennis player picking a bum so I was chatting to Jack Laver so Jack's Jack's with Lyndon Stout and I was telling him about this and he was like yeah and the do you know what's mental about the button pullers from Topman two for ten quid and the premium ones were two for twelve quid oh the premiums that's insane to think that just how you had yeah two for a tenner I mean it'd probably be the equivalent of like two for 15 or two for 20 now wouldn't it it's not as if it was that cheap back then I remember back in the day because obviously Instagram wasn't a thing and it was like in the indie era and I think I might say this but you'd get people trend forecasts and trend report would be at all these like cool gigs yeah and I was at a Just Ease gig and I remember having like this what?
42Just Ease as in justice but with a French accent well you know I'm French I was just in France so my accent's still there. But I was wearing this scoop neck All Saints t-shirt. They came over and interviewed me and everyone was like, oh, that's so cool. It's like, oh, those hooded t-shirts. With the hood, with the toe and the sag and the drawstrings. Like, you're looking like you're going to hack Skynet or something. Like, you're part of the wanted as in the fucking boy band, the wanted. Quick one though, like you were saying about everything coming back. Yeah. I didn't think it could be happening because Topshop's coming back.
18Top man's coming back. Like that, to me, is like that top man gave me my startle back in the day. Gave me my career. You can half predict some trends coming back in. Like flip-flops were half inevitable after you started getting... You can mute as well. I forgot my line. Well, I've moved over here, mate, so you can carry on talking. My bad dog. You can kind of predict something's coming back, but I don't think like the drop crotch carrot would ever come back. But, I mean, just while we're on the topic, because I actually want to know about this for field research that's research yes because I'm not going out there looking for it but what else can you remember being an actual style trend outfit thing that you like oh my god what the fuck I've got one that I've got one I think I've seen it coming back which was leather cuffs it was like the guy from the OC so like oh my god yeah you're right yeah I was with someone yesterday at F4 and they had them as well.
16Like, just like a, you've had like a weird rock dad or like a Spanish, like, like brown because you had like the ones that studied. Yeah, that's it, yeah. So, I think I've definitely seen, it's almost like going into that Y2K and then a little bit further on now and I think that's what maybe I've seen them about. Is Russell Brand in it? Yeah, oh yeah, yeah, exactly. It's that kind of indie sleaze but that particular side of it. But then the guy from the OC, the main character had it as well. Scott, you cut your hair at the wrong time. Bright-coloured jeans. Oh, my God, yeah. I used to have a pair of purple criminal damage jeans.
51Oh, my God, no way. Yeah, man. Does anyone remember the really skinny jeans? Oh, man. Spray-ons. The Celine Runmere show, very skinny jeans. But Celine's always been skinny. But, I mean, these are like skin-type. Yeah, spray-on. These aren't drain pipe. These are spray-on. What was the brand? It wasn't criminal damage, was it, That have these skeleton hands On the back That's criminal damage It was wasn't it Yeah They had neon pink They had neon pink Skeleton hands So they were the ones That you had Yeah I had purple With neon pink Yeah Famous stars and straps Belt Another one is wallet chains Yeah They're definitely But I've seen lots of Dave has his on in the pub I've seen a lot of people With a wallet chain now I'm doing like a more Mainstream Hold on There's only one person That's quite a good shout And do you know what It's almost like the What's it called The Trump The Yeah the way they print Onto the jeans Yeah And acne have the one with all the wallet chains going on.
42There's only one accessible person to have a wallet chain and it's Jake Hardy. Jake, our old sound guy from PAQs, to have it because it was practical for us. That's really sweet. Practicality is all that matters. Feathered fedoras. Feathered fedoras, yeah. Calculator watches. That sort of geek chic thing. Yeah. I suppose it depends how that sort of manifests itself again. I feel like we kind of had a little bit of it a few years ago when girls would still wear the glassless frames. That kind of came back a little bit, and I think that didn't spark enough to ignite. See, a lot of the ones I'm thinking are indie days, but there are obviously a few, like, the sort of coloured things.
23That's pre-indie days. But then indie days, braces. Braces, yeah. I mean, that was still my braces and PAQ days. I think it could make more of a thing. Do you know what? And again, these actually were in the Celine show. Trashy high tops. like non-brand like obviously another high street doesn't have the same pull as it obviously once did but high tops aren't nike or uh like a reebok or a converse style high top or like a ramon or like a jordan kind of in chunkiness like uh god i used to have a pet do you know the nike vandal it looks like a stretched out version of an air force one so i remember air forces were like 60 at the time and the vandals were like 40 and i had a high top pair i had a pair of top ones that looked like the nike vandal on the bottom they were patent leather white oh did i have a black ones whatever it was um and yeah it's my first pair of high tops and i loved those it's just like a really slim shoe but then two velcro straps over the ankle bit they were very boy band very like jls but now they would not go out of place on a runway weirdly and again yeah it was like selena done similar will brands start to release non-branded high tops yes i don't know we sell we'll catch on because the runway is like a heightened version of fashion and in the realms of like it's art more than fashion and it's only wearable to the one percent to a degree like yeah it does it takes years to trickle down but then it also when it trickles down it also dilutes to a degree for the consumer i hope that doesn't happen i hope the issues stay far far away some of it's quite euro trash yeah it's like but i feel like we had that like euro trash was trash was like two summers ago like i don't know i mean i think now it's like everything is so vast that trends kind of just don't really i mean they do exist but everyone's doing everything at any point.
32It's all micro trends at all times. Yeah, yeah. And it's like, it's really weird. I'm sure there's another conversation about this idea of personal style, which, because I spend so much fucking time on TikTok, I get served all this stuff about personal style and it's just people just talking absolute waffle about nothing and it just doesn't need to exist. Like, you know, this podcast doesn't fucking need to exist, but as in like, you know, not everyone needs to have, a lot of people talk without an opinion on like these things. They just sort of regurgitate the same thing, which in itself is a bit of a trend, just how can I say this thing about skinny jeans or how can I say this thing about personal style without saying anything new or bringing anything new to the conversation or just reading a GQ article word for word like maybe just to say it on a video platform you just take in someone else's article and then do it I think it's just all about like I mean frankly who fucking cares who cares like wear what you want to wear and if you feel good great like that's my mentality like I always say and I'm fucking paid for this comfort breeds confidence and i think confidence makes anything look good and like if you're comfortable in what you're wearing you're gonna feel confident in what you're wearing and if you feel confident you're gonna have a fucking great day like that's the most important thing is like owning your individuality and sometimes that might not mean that you're individual but you are you some famous person once said something quite smart about that and i would i had the quote and it went oh it was be yourself because nobody else can be I need to be myself I can't be no one else I'm feeling supersonic give me gin and tonic that's the one that's exactly it that was William Shatsby right that's the one yeah yeah but yeah I think personal style is a very important thing but like don't pressure it don't force it just let it happen innit like this it's like this let it happen it's like a tap yeah I mean yeah you say something now the tap is something about drips and forcing it like forcing drip oh my god it's gone good lord some of the good news is we're we are doing our next pub quiz so this comes out yeah this comes out on on a Wednesday and our pub quiz will be on the following Wednesday this is coming out tomorrow innit yeah so that'll be rather exciting we have hopefully some more people turning up not as in as in like new people because everyone who came last time seems to have a lovely time full house you and I need to write this quiz yeah still We've got a couple of rounds in mind already.
56I need to proofread it. We can't. Yeah, I need to proofread it. Oh, my God. Yeah, I'm not making that mistake again. Yeah, Danny just made facts up. We can't do it around Scott because obviously his team came second last time. No, I think we're going third. Look, it's about 13. I mean, teams are five. I'll have you know that... Fuck you. You do have an extra person joining you this week, if it's all right. Who? Wilson. No way. I'm going to be so distracted. He said, has Scott got a full team? No, no, no. No, just me and Wilson or Brahms and Leon. And Duck might be working. This is all. So yeah, this is all terrible podcast stuff.

34Yeah, yeah, but sick. Yeah, podcast. No, pub quiz. Yeah. So pub quiz will be brilliant. And then we've also got, hopefully we need to sort it out, a shoot with a pretty big retailer for you and I. Oh, yeah, of course. There we go. We need to go back to the email today, actually, I think. because I'm away from the next week so it'll be good to do it before the pub quiz. Perfect. Oh yeah, sound. Yeah, I'll speak to them.
