We share quick tips, things you can do right now, and then we add a little bit of chaos at the end of every episode. We also keep it short, like this intro. Let's check it out. We are back for what's up this week from the Do This, Not That podcast. Let's get into what's going on in business and marketing and life. Let's jump in. So LinkedIn, there's a lot of new information out there about what actually gets traction on LinkedIn. So first off, LinkedIn themselves came out with some information this week. That's pretty interesting. And they're sharing what do you need to do in order to get the most engagement on your personal pages, on your company pages.
42So what they shared, first off, is consistency. You need to be posting two to three times per week. The algorithm eats it up. If you do, it looks out for your post, they're saying. if you do. So two to three times per week on your company and personal pages. And then the secret sauce number of words they're saying from LinkedIn themselves is two to 300 words in a post. Okay. So no a giant thingamabob, uh, two to 300 words. Now the other really interesting thing that came out was from this company called Metricool, who did a study of 673 ,000 LinkedIn posts, over 63 ,000 accounts. Okay. And what they came out with, which is kind of super interesting is two different things.
26Number one, let's talk about company pages first, company pages, carousels, carousel posts on company pages as compared to single image posts. Okay. Carousel posts are generating on company pages 11 times more interactions and 15 times more clicks. Wow. Now on personal profiles, carousels are also doing really well. On personal pages, carousels are averaging 51 % more impressions than single image posts. The last one as it relates to LinkedIn, which I found fascinating from this study, which was a really comprehensive study, found that if you end your post with a question, right? Posts that are basically positioned as questions have 77 % more comments than those that aren't.
17Now, for my own findings, when I tried all of this, a few fold. Number one, a hundred percent. Carousels do so incredibly well. I see way more saves and shares and follows and all that stuff from carousel posts, both on my personal page and company pages. The only problem is a pain in the butt to create them. But other than that, I know you can create them with AI, but those are cheesy. And then in terms of putting a question at the end of your post, that does so well. It works also really well on Instagram. Basically, everybody likes being heard, right? So when you ask somebody their opinion about something, everybody gets hyped and they want to share that.
56So that's pretty cool. So let's talk about some other stuff going on out there. So Business Insider just did this whole deep dive and interviewed a zillion agencies and different brands and the marketing leads of these different brands. And what they found, they were talking about AI and the efficiency that AI is bringing to all of our businesses. And specifically, they dug into Meta's AI creative tools. And what they found, which is really not surprising to me, is that with all the different brands and agencies digging in using all these AI tools, it actually didn't add any efficiency at all.
34Not any at all. It actually added more than three hours in total to the planning and reviewing cycle of getting any campaign launched. Because at least where we're at right now with AI, the stuff that AI is doing, the targeting it's doing, the creative design that it's doing, all the different elements that doing, there's this level of mistrust that we have with is AI doing it right? And also it's spitting out a lot of this generic garbage. So the wild irony of AI as it relates to kind of efficiencies for these ad campaigns, it's actually wildly inefficient. So before you just be like, oh, we're going to do AI for all this stuff, you really got to kind of think that through.
18And the other thing that you need to think through is also your cost. So Adam Masseri, who is the head of Instagram, came out this week, okay? And he basically said, free tools for AI are going to be going away. You know, all these different free tools that we have access to. And he said himself, AI is very, very expensive to just make stuff for free. And more and more of these free tools that you have are starting to have this paid tier that's very, very low. Meaning that if you've set up your internal systems, be like, okay, we're going to do this with this and this with that. And we're going to, it's going to be amazing.
57The cost for all of this about to skyrocket because the AI companies are starting to quickly realize that it's costing them a boatload in terms of compute and whatever to do this stuff. So you cannot just assume that these free tiers that you have access to that you're building your business around are going to stay that way because they 100 % are not. Okay. We are entering an error just like the way Netflix was. It started out really cheap and it goes up and up and up and up because Netflix is like, whoa, we want to make all these shows and all these movies. We need to charge more. That is where we're entering with AI.
29It is going to go up, up, up, up, up. And that is, you know, where we're at. So, all right, before we get into the ridiculous portion of this podcast, I want to let you know this podcast is sponsored by CallRail. Now, no, CallRail is not just about calls, okay? I've been using CallRail to track our attribution forever, form submits, any leads that we get, phone calls that we get, anything that we get. 6:21So the big thing is that, you know, Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey came out, which is amazing. Great. I didn't see it. I want to see it. And so many people, I saw it. The new thing going on in the planet is the type of screen that you saw it on shaming. This is ridiculous. I have had multiple people say to me, are you going to see The Odyssey? I'm like, I want to see The Odyssey. They go, dude, but you got to see it on IMAX. I'm like, why? It's so sick. If you see it on IMAX. If you don't see it on IMAX, you're a loser. First of all, I've been to one IMAX movie once, and it was too much for me.
58I think it was like a Tom Cruise movie. I felt like I was seeing up Tom Cruise's nose. I don't need to be in anything that's that large. I don't need to go to a planetarium to see a movie. It's big enough. I have no problem seeing any movie on my phone. Like, no, no, no, that's not the real cinematic experience. Who cares? I am not there analyzing at all. So if you love IMAX, amazing. You do you, but you cannot shame people. Okay. You cannot shame people for what format they're looking at on. This is absolutely ridiculous. So other things that I have checked out, I watched last night, this new show, the nation's dumbest.
42This is a new reality contest show where they get all these different famous people and we try to figure out who's the stupidest celebrity in the country. This show is really embarrassing. And so right now the stupidest people are Carmen Electra, Jojo Siwa, I'm not sure who else. And I'll give you an example of what they asked all these people and Carmen Electra got this wrong. They said, what is the name of the award, the Academy Award? What is the nickname for the Academy Award that is given out? And it's, you know, it's Oscar. And she said, what'd she say? Golden Woman. What is going on? I don't, hopefully she's making that up because that's out of control.
25Ridiculous. The show is not very good. I do not recommend watching Nation's Dumbest. The other big show that came out was on Apple TV. It's called Lucky. it's with the woman that starred in queen's gambit gambit the uh uh the the chess movie the chess show that was a great show so lucky's pretty good everyone's like it's so great it's so awesome i'm giving you so far i've watched one episode it's pretty good that's where i'm at and then um lastly if you haven't got a copy of my book you gotta grab it stupider people have done it we became a usa today bestseller all proceeds are going to the v foundation for cancer research.

Turns out the AI tools everyone swears by might be quietly working against you - one big study found they added hours to campaign workflows instead of trimming them. Jay Schwedelson digs into that gut-check alongside fresh LinkedIn data on what the algorithm is actually rewarding right now, plus a warning about why those handy free AI tiers you've built your process around probably won't stay free. It wraps with the usual detour into whatever he's been watching and reading lately.
