1:14Hello and welcome to Good Bad Billionaire from BBC Sounds. In this podcast, we'll be finding out how the richest people on our planet got so rich. And then we'll be judging them. Are they good, bad or just another billionaire? I'm Simon Jack. I'm the BBC's business editor. And I'm Zing Sing and I'm a journalist, podcaster and author. Each episode, we're going to pick a billionaire who we find fascinating and cover their journey to the top. So how is this programme going to work? First, we're going to tell the story of how each billionaire went from zero to a million. And then we'll go from a million to a billion and beyond.

1:49Well beyond in some cases. In some cases. And to me, they are either the crushing embodiment of inequality and are offensive that they even exist, or to some people, aspirational. Why are you interested in billionaires? The thing is, if you talk about a billionaire, you're really talking about someone who is probably about as important and influential as a politician or an elected head of state. But they are completely unaccountable to everyone but their shareholders. And in that sense, I'm really interested in taking a peek behind the covers and finding out what makes them tick. Because if they've got this much power to influence the world, are they using it in a good or bad way?

2:25So if you want to know if Rihanna is as much of a bad gal as she claims. Or what Jeff Bezos really did to become the first person in history to pocket$100 billion. Or learn what not to do with your money from the guy who lost$2 billion in a year. If you want to follow in the footsteps of billionaires like Sir Philip Green, Oprah Winfrey, Michael Jordan or Bill Gates, then listen to Good Bad Billionaire with me, Zing Zing. And me, Simon Jack. Subscribe on BBC Sounds or wherever you're listening to this, so you'll be the first to hear the latest episodes of Good Bad Billionaire, starting with the world's first centibillionaire, hundred billionaire, who is?

3:02None other than Mr. Amazon himself, Jeff Bezos.

3:12If you're a maintenance supervisor for a commercial property, you've had to deal with everything from leaky faucets to flickering light bulbs. But nothing's worse than that ancient boiler that's lived in the building since the day it was built, 50 years ago. It's enough to make anyone lose their cool. That's where Grainger comes in. With industrial-grade products and dependable fast delivery, Grainger can help with any challenge, from worn-out components to everyday necessities. Call, click Grainger.com, or just stop by. Grainger, for the ones who get it done.
