Key claims
People building AI should be aligned to humanity; current leaders and builders should acknowledge “none of us have a clue” about surpassing human intelligence. AI should make people smarter and more productive, with human judgment directing systems. Social media may be a major casualty; education may be replaced by “knowledge” and actionable learning.
Notable examples
Mentions AI surpassing human intelligence, social media disruption, and potential climate disaster and labor-market collapse as reasons to ask harder questions about AI design and deployment.

But at the same time, the more we understand these technologies, the better equipped we are to insert ourselves in the conversations about them and to steer how they're being built and deployed. That's why I'm launching my new podcast, I've Got Questions with Sinead Bovell. I'm going to introduce you to the people building the technologies that are shaping our future, the policymakers trying to regulate them, The deep thinkers helping us to make sense of this moment that we're in and everyone in between.
0:31What goes through your mind when you're sitting across from a world leader telling them that you are building systems that will one day surpass human intelligence? The truth that we all have to face is none of us have a clue. We need AIs that are aligned to us as a species. They make us smarter and more productive. People's job will be to direct the AIs by applying their judgment. Social media may be one of the biggest casualties of AI. There is no future of education. There is knowledge in the future. I want you to be able to wake up and know exactly what you have to do tomorrow as a result of what you're learning about.
1:04If we're racing towards a climate disaster, if we're racing towards a real collapse in the labor market, we might want to be asking harder questions about how we build and use these technologies. And get your questions ready because we're going to be answering them directly on the show. You can follow the show now on YouTube or wherever you get your podcasts. and I'll see you at the first episode, September 25th. So do you think AI is a continuation of existing power structures and empires or it's the making of a new one?
