In short

Parenting and postpartum realities with Georgie Porter—sleep deprivation, toddler routines, blended-family life, breastfeeding and C-section recovery, relationship “spark” maintenance, and holiday/parenting mishaps (tooth fairy/Santa questions, accidental Kama Sutra “wrestling cards,” and a bear-trap story that terrifies her son).

Key claims

elective C-sections can be empowering; postpartum mental health needs friends and support; toddlers regress when a new baby arrives; boundaries are hard “in the trenches,” but date nights and PDA help couples reconnect; breastfeeding weight/body changes are temporary and identity can be rebuilt.

Notable examples

elective C-sections at Wigan Hospital with midwife Sandy and 14 doctors; scar reopening requiring antibiotics; “bear trap” YouTube clip causing fear of bears/forest school; “no money under pillow” tooth fairy disappointment; Santorini wedding where kids found explicit cards.

Guests

Georgie Porter (actress/model/mum of Forrest, 3, and Peony, nearly 2; blended family with Ollie and his son Alfie, 11). Co-hosts: Louise and Andy (regular hosts; Andy is Georgie’s husband in the story, not a guest).

0:00Coming up, we've got the most fabulous, stunning, Jorgie Porter.

0:03Jorgie Porter:Oh, thanks. Hi. I had elective C-sections. It was like a nail appointment. It was fantastic. But then, straight away, his little bobby hat on. I was like, wow, did he come with this? Where's that? Did I throw that? Did I? Really nice. The hardest part, baby, breastfeeding, toddler. That six months, I didn't think we were going to survive.

1:15From athletic to athletic-ish, Sierra's got it. Good morning. Bonjour. Bonjour. Shabba.

1:24Good morning, darling. How are you? I'm really tired. Why? Oh, I had a great night's sleep. Was it snoring or was it children? All of it. All of it. Snoring, children. And then my radio went off twice in the night to start playing music. And would it be one of your children? In the middle of the night. And I woke up going, what the hell is this? Maybe that's why I'm wearing pink today. I don't know. Lady in pink. We're both wearing pink. We are. We are matching matches. I love it. I think we should do this more often. I feel very tired today. It's hard when you feel like that, though. it's 10 to 9 and I've I've had three coffees already yeah and you're having the the certain company of coffee that I've read like one coffee is like the equivalent to three red balls yes I mean I'm having palpitations as we speak so you've had a crater red ball this morning I know oh such fun it's fine so if I look like a tired wreck I am yeah but you're a mum this is what we do it's like kids are back at school that do you enjoy the routine of the kids being back at school um yes and no I mean I don't enjoy like you know the whole like we have to be up at this time we have to leave the house at this time and all the uniforms and all the different clubs and la la la yeah you kind of feel like no so it's no the answer no it really annoys me because I've always been like oh I love it when they're at school not as in to get rid of them I mean that helps but I just mean like when they're at school you've got that routine of being like right come on we need to go to bed at this time at night because you are going to be up at that time tomorrow but there is such a part of me that with the kids ages that they're at now is I absolutely loved the summer oh like I I really loved it and in the past because we have our really busy period with our student letting company the move in move out it's just absolute chaos my in-laws come and live with us every year for a month and it's just I find it bad like okay well we're sort of used to it now and we're grateful for them to help us because otherwise we couldn't do what we're doing.

3:26But I really enjoyed like over the summer not having that routine, but getting up a little bit later and life being a bit more relaxed. Although it's chaos when you're at home, you do have that option to be like, right, okay, what toys have we got under the bed? Do your kids, when kids are off school, do you keep them up later? Yes. Oh yeah. So then it's really hard to get them back into the whole like, oh, actually, we're going to bed two hours earlier now. From now on. There's no more movies late at night now. You know that fun we've been having together. Fun's over. Like when I get Annabelle to bed, that's when Bradley and Logan are like, oh, can we build some Lego?

4:06Or can we do this? Can we do that? And that's when we get, oh, can we play Uno around the table or watch a film? And that's when we have that time that they need from having a baby sister that kind of dominates everything. It kind of goes into my fail, actually. we you know we have our movie nights so we had a movie night and it's really hard for the whole family to agree on something because we're all different ages but we agreed on watching Grown Ups with Adam Sandler I've never seen it before have you seen it? so it's really cool in the movie Adam Sandler's wife I think it's Salma Hayek talks about how the tooth fairy isn't real and Inca's there going what?

4:45and I'm like no no she's just kidding Of course the tooth fairy's real. And then you've got my other two sons going, yeah, it's real. And I was just thinking, have I just ruined the tooth fairy for her? And she's toothless. Yeah. You know, like. Very wealthy. Yeah. Inca's absolutely balling at the minute. Yeah, she's minted right now. Yeah, so I feel like we ruined her tooth fairy experience. And has she asked you about? She's like, mummy, is it like, I put to bed that night. She's like, mummy, is the tooth fairy actually real? Like, is it actually? do a kid say that is it actually it's like literally is it actually yeah and I'm like actually she is real it becomes hard when um like Bradley had had this really intense conversation with me asking me about the tooth fairy about uh the Easter bunny yes about Santa about wet dream like the whole I love that tooth fairy Santa wet dreams like typical boy and now that we had the discussion and I confirmed about the tooth fairy situation you told him the truth yeah but yeah well he was like mommy I know it's you and I was like how do you know that he's like because when my last tooth came out you put your arm under my pillow and took the tooth and I was awake when you did it and you put money there I was like was he calling a bluff no because he I did wake him up when I did it I was like oh big morning stretch and then put my arm under the pillow and I was like trying to find this fucking tooth and he didn't put it into the little pot that he should have put it into but because he knows and he loves the fact he knows that it's it's not real um he when I talked to Logan about it he was looking at me going oh yeah because the tooth fairy's gonna come isn't it mummy you know as if he's about 20 I'm like you're 10 years old hon like what are you doing he's like well Logan I bet you can't wait to lose your next tooth Sonny lost a tooth recently and he's he's 11 and he lost a tooth must be one of the last ones and uh and he he knows yeah and uh so he didn't you know there was no money whatever so because he knows but he but then the next morning he was like mum there was no money under my pillow yeah because he's smart Louise I know but then I felt really bad because I thought because you know even Even when I found out that there was no, I really hope there's no little people listening to this right now, if there is, turn it off.

7:13But when I realised there was no Santa, I still got stockings from my mum until I was like in my 20s. So I felt bad that even though Sonny realised that there was no tooth fairy, that he didn't get the money. Yeah, you got to keep bankrolling it till the whole set of gnashes are out. Like when my mum, two years ago, she didn't give me an advent calendar. She brings advent calendars for the kids. Wait, you didn't get one as an adult? Yes, Louise. I'm like, wait, my mum. Did she take the chocolate out of them, how she does with your Easter eggs? Yeah. You just get pep-cha, Shana. And the wee cab is cleaning.

7:53You just get a wee pep-cha. It's like, hmm, there was definitely remnants of chocolate. I can see the foil completely broken. Mum's put four pounds on, but she had a great time. But I'm like, mum, if you get the kids an advent calendar, I also need one. Oh, wow. This is a rule. I'll get you an advent calendar, babe. Thanks, Louise. You'll get me a really rude one, won't you? Can you get rude ones? I bet you can. I remember you telling me about your mates who had their own advent calendar, which was like sexual favours to each other. Yeah. Yeah. Do they sell them? I mean, we should investigate.

8:26I'll tell you what, Louise. This is a business idea for us. I think it could be. We should make the most like rudest, cheekiest advent calendars. Yeah, maybe there should be a no parental guidance advent calendar. Yeah. With gin and sex positions. Yes. And fails under the little door that you open. So you can see all the fails from our lovely community. Yeah. That'd be great. Oh, this is a great idea. That does actually bring me to one of my fails for holiday. Hit me. Earlier this summer. So we went for a wedding to Santorini, which was beautiful. Stunning. And went to, I mean, Santorini is amazing, but to take a three-year-old, an eight-year-old and a 10-year-old to a wedding at a clifftop with Perspex that comes up a meter in a bit.

9:08And I've been there and it's not the best place to take kids. It's stunning. But all those steps. Yeah. Anxiety. Yeah. Overload. And we went into this little shop because it wasn't really much to do. But I said, right, you can both choose something under 10 euros. And Annabelle was picking everything up. You know, they always have the little mirrors, compact mirrors everywhere. And Annabelle's like, please don't touch them. Like smash them. And Bradley said, oh, I'd really like to get the wrestling cards. And I said, oh, OK, cool. You get the wrestling cards. And Logan, what do you want? And he saw this little key ring with a little diamante on it.

9:45He was like, I want that jewelry to put in my jewelry box because he thinks he's collecting treasure. And we got to the desk and Bradley handed me the cards. And it was fucking Kama Sutra. Oh, my. sex position cards were like four blokes at it. Oh my God. And he thought they were wrestling. They were like, you know, like ancient Egypt, Egyptian kind of pictures, like drawings. And there's just these four blokes with like absolute stonk-ons. Or was he saying to your mum their wrestling cards knowing full well, that looks like a willy. Yeah, that's a penis. And then Andy's like, ooh. But I said, oh, Bradley, that I think actually we're probably better not to get the wrestling cards why don't we get something else why don't we get something else like a key ring or something why don't we do that for your school bag he's like because i don't want to and the more he was looking at it he was like oh and then he turned the pack over and the lady in the shop looked at me and she was like he's not the first child to do this how about don't leave it by the counter why you put like why why why so we didn't get them no Well, good.

10:53I bribed him. Did Andy get them? No, we didn't, thank God. Did he, like, kind of flash you a car and be like, that's what I want to do later? And I'll be like, cool, good for you. We're on holiday with three kids. Like, wow. It was like, that holiday hit a bit different. Yeah. Well, today on the show, we've got the most fabulous, stunning actress, model, mum, Georgie Porter. Oh, thanks. Hi. Thank you for having me, ladies. Oh, like, so pleased that you're here. Honestly.

11:18Jorgie Porter:And you look stunning. No, oh, thanks. I literally did my own makeup, got here, got my makeup done again, probably will want a break, have more makeup. No, I'm joking. Well, we talked, didn't we, just before we started recording, that you stayed overnight last night, kid-free, which does feel like... It is. I don't really know what to do with my hands when I'm walking down the street. You know, when you're like, you're like, do this, and you're like, oh, I'm not... Where's a portable potty in the bag for life? What are we doing here? Why am I not a child on my shoulders? Like, what am I doing?

11:43Why?

11:43Jorgie Porter:Am I not running after one? So it was like a breeze, but also a bit nerve-wracking, because I'm like, I'm missing something. Well, I was going to say, like, because I, my kids were away for three days recently. And I didn't actually know what to do with myself. Yeah. Like, dare I say it? I was bored. I know. Also, how do you dress? What, like, what time do you get dressed? Do you hair? Do you do makeup for what? Where am I going? But there's so much that you could do. And then I'm like, I get overwhelmed with the choices. Yeah. I could go to the gym. I could go to the cinema. I could go to the bar.

12:13I could do absolutely nothing. I'm like, what do I do? And then I sit there going, I don't know. I'll go through pictures on my phone. Of my children. Of the children.

12:20Jorgie Porter:I lie down and I go, I'll sleep. And then they're like, I don't know. I can't sleep now. I'll just watch Toy Story again. Oh, I love Toy Story. I love Toy Story. But why do I want to watch it without them? Or Bluey? I'm like, oh, I quite enjoy this. But you're right in the trenches, right? How old are your kids? Right, so Forrest is three. I love that name. And Peony is, she's one in a lot, not one in a bit. So she's nearly like two. So you definitely are in the trenches. is ladies when I say like it's the hardest part I think that's six months when you've baby breastfeeding toddler that I didn't think we were going to survive me and Ollie we didn't talk to each other for a long time um we're only just starting to like see eyeballs yeah like he's got nice brown eyes like I actually look at him now and go oh you are gorgeous like yeah it's a bit sickly i am obsessed with oliver like oh that's so nice oh but he's so handsome he's so gorgeous in my opinion i literally he wakes up and he's fit and i'm like like i'm a mess but i don't i can't ever see no like have you have you seen your like you're beautiful stunning no thank you i need that um but the that time we literally were like i don't think we can like carry on this did you have those conversations yeah yeah we we were like this is hard or we'd tell friends you know you like go to other people's houses and you're like this is so hard and you'd listen to each other talking about it and you're like oh yeah it is hard and that's how we communicate through other people they're hard conversations to have and to hear aren't they because when you go to a mate's house and you kind of don't really chat to each other as much in the car because you're both overstimulated knackered frustrated because one of you didn't empty the nappy bin or just really stupid stuff that you would never have argued or disagreed with before because it didn't present itself before kids and you go to a mate's house and it's like andy will be saying something like oh you know it's really hard the other night because and you hear it from their perspective but as a mum you're thinking sometimes i'll set andy up for a bit of a fall and i don't realize i do it but i'm just like sometimes i want him to like you know use your initiative more but it's like actually guys and and girls think very differently don't they but it's hard The conversation about how hard it is as parents with your partner, it's so common and so normal.

14:40And no one told me that when I became a mother for the first time. I thought that I was the only one wanting to staple things to my husband's head. And wanted to punch him in the face. I thought I was the only one. And it wasn't until much later, people were like, oh yeah, no, he's driving me mad. I'm like, oh my God, it's not just me.

15:00Jorgie Porter:But the problem I was having, right, and I don't know if other people have this, but Ollie's, like, too good. Like, his father skills are so beyond incredible that I actually... I'm sorry, why are you mad at him? So, this is it. Now, this was my... Why are you fucking whinging it out with me? Do you know what I mean? I'm quite all right. He's so incredible. He's really fit. Me, Louisa. Like, I... Is he? Like, don't meet him. Don't meet him. Does he put the bins out? Oh my God, like all of the bins. And he's really fit as well. Like he's really fit. He's perfect in every way. If you had him here, you'd literally be like, you'd like him more.

15:37Jorgie Porter:Like you would love him. He, I got with him because of his son and I saw him like with like being a father. I wonder where you're going with that then. Well, I was like. His son's about 19. He's fit as well. But he was just so good. And I thought, yeah, I want him as like a dad. Oh, that's lovely. How was it becoming a blended family? So I guess you were a stepmother before you became a mother. Yeah. So how does that, like, how was that? So hard. It is, there's no, like, rules on how to do this, I think. And I went in, because Alfie's got a mum, so I was always like, I'm not going to be your mum.

16:12Jorgie Porter:I went in with, like, a sisterly, let's play all the time, that kind of thing. And I played with him so much to the point where he was like, it's too much. So I was, like, overachieving, I think. Wow. Yeah. Did he say it's too much? Yeah. Really? How old was he at the time? Stop being fun. Like four and five. Oh. I was like a Power Ranger, like dressing up. Yeah. Being like so much the point where he was like, can I play my dad now? And I was like, oh yeah, okay, never mind. Cool. And did you do that because you wanted to or because you wanted him to like you? I think I had the energy to. I think Ollie was like, you two like bond.

16:51Jorgie Porter:And so we would. Yeah. And it would be brilliant. And then it was like, oh, maybe he's coming here to see his dad. maybe he doesn't want to see like but then now there's more kids involved it is so hard to spend your time with everyone but and also because the age difference I don't know if like you guys have got age difference with your yeah your kids it's like this kid wants to do lego this one wants to do swimming in the pool on holiday and you're like how do you spread yourself out and how do you give all that attention and love when one kid just wants to play with his dad as well yeah so it's like oh so how do you manage now like does it just come quite naturally now or it's I yesterday we were in the traffic center and Alfie was on his phone and I went no you get off your phone we're all hanging out together we are like these are toddlers you give them toddler time you can be on your phone another time yeah he's a teenager right so he's he's 11 yeah yeah so I was like I kind of brace ourselves for that teenage stage and I don't want him to miss out on the toddlers with us as well so I'm a bit I'm a bit more harsh because I think Ollie's like I love all my children and I will do whatever it takes and whereas I'm like no no no no no yeah so you need to have good cop bad cop I think that works well yeah especially when it comes to like mobile phones yeah like it's the setting boundaries isn't it because your younger kids are going to see their older brother on a phone at such a young age and think well when I want to be on my phone well he's allowed how come he can do that and I can't because they very quickly get to that and they do do that don't they I didn't know these things they literally will copy everything so fast yeah yeah my um youngest calls me bro because my eldest calls me bro bro and she's like this really cute six-year-old seven she's turned seven and she goes all right bro and I'm like no wow No.

18:43Like, you're seven. You should be calling me mummy. Mummy. And she's like, bro. I'm like, god damn. That is so funny.

18:51Jorgie Porter:And it's just because my eldest calls me that. No, peony, right? Peony's one. She is not dainty. She leads with her belly everywhere. She's like, whoa. She gets hits in the face. She's like, whoa. She shakes it off and goes, whoa. I'm like, wow, she is odd. Yeah. She is odd. But she's got two older brothers. So she, yeah. Yeah, same as us. And I was literally, I thought we'd be calling her peony. but she's like and it's like pity pity like that's how yeah oh my god that's so funny you said that because yeah you kind of pick names thinking it sounds so beautiful but then you don't think about how you sound when you're shouting them across the park like you sound mental i remember one shouting i remember one shouting basil basil and this lady went have you lost your dog oh my god oh yes sure it's my kid yeah it's like we'll just pretend it's a dog what kind of um parent would you say that you are what's your parenting style i and i never thought i would be i am nervous anxiety tense angry ah what are you doing don't do that don't do this to the point where sometimes i'm like do you know what i am just tired now so i'm just gonna see what happens we'll stay indoors today we'll literally just put the telly on and have a minute nice because I always thought I'd be that hours for eight two days I always thought I'd be like like fun because like with Alfie when he was four and five I was like playing all that time had energy now I'm like I'm exhausted yeah I've got like a job as well full time so when I come home I'm literally like guys what should we do like oh yeah cool let's just do whatever eat what you want and also like for us is very picky food I thought I'd be like broccoli and you know giving them all the we all think we're gonna be like that babe yeah but he's just like like toast with butter on him like yeah that's fine do you want four pieces yeah you can have that have a loaf we'll do that yeah absolutely yeah and how do you protect your own boundaries like within a busy working family?

21:00Boundaries,

21:00Jorgie Porter:don't know, don't really, don't really. You're in the trenches, there are no boundaries. Yeah. This stage, which I can now see the light, like I can see, like me and Ollie, we've got, we've got a night in Paris coming. Oh, lovely. Like, honestly. Just the two of you? Just the two of us. Oh, lovely. Oh my God. And I'm very much like a PDA snogger. Like, I will, I will mount him on a bench. You go, girl. You'll come back from Paris pregnant, you know that though, no no i'm done we are done that's fine he needs to um but i yeah that will be exciting but um in the meantime we are just like whatever it takes yeah at home doing whatever to have date nights and stuff do you schedule stuff like that in we we did once we had like a lunch and he literally like this is a stick in fringe so is it it is oh my god that's brilliant It's a clipping.

21:55No. Yeah. So I like, obviously I don't have it at home. This is also not real. Oh, brilliant. I think that's quite obvious. It's from TikTok shop. I mean, I thought, wow, she's got so much hair to do that with. No, I really don't. It looks mint though, Louise. Love it. I don't know. It's a little bit shiny. So you've literally tied your hair back, put a fringe in, put a bit higher on the back. Look at you. I would never think that that is. Where are you clipping? So like, there's a bit here, a section there at the top and a section here. I had. No. That's the best one I've ever seen. And I always think, don't tell anyone.

22:22And these front curls. No, but I'm just saying no. It's attached with it. I'm just thinking for mothers here. Yeah. Where you think, right, don't worry about your hair. Get a bit of dry shampoo. Tie your hair in a bun. You've put a hairpiece over the top of your bun. And you've put a fringe and some curls at the front. There's a hairpiece over your bun as well. I've had a lie-in today. Yeah. She got up 20 minutes ago. I think if anyone's not watching this right now, you need to go to YouTube and take a look at Georgie right now because this is phenomenal.

22:52Jorgie Porter:It's not real. but what I was saying was we went on a date and I stuck my fringe in and Ollie was like he's like I'm dating another woman it's like I'm having an affair with someone and I was like yeah and obviously I was snogging him publicly and he was like can we stop can we stop mounting him in the restaurant in a cafe oh but that's lovely yeah how nice that you've had kids together and you still feel you've got that spark how because there's a lot of women that would say that they don't you can rebuild it well you said that earlier that you know you went through a phase of like it was really hard and you couldn't talk to each other.

23:23I'm guessing you're over there now.

23:24Jorgie Porter:Yeah, I mean, we do get a bit worried when it comes to doing it. We're like, no, because we don't want any more children. Yeah, yeah. So he's always like, you know, in there and going, is it ovulation? And I'm like, so that's the thought process during... We had, if you're wondering about vasectomies, we had Jordan Banjo on and he talked about his vasectomy and how... I saw that brilliant. Like, who knew it was such a quick procedure? Now I need to show all of this. Yeah, you do. Because he will not, like, he's very, doesn't keep doing it. Yeah, my husband. My husband watched that episode and he still won't get it done.

24:00And he still won't. Yeah, yeah. Right, do you think maybe we can plan this by saying we're going somewhere and then just. Just a bit of consent. And then, yeah. Sign this. We're going on a date. Sign this. We're going to singe your tube. Yeah. And you'll be done in 20 minutes. And your dick's not going to work like it did before. However, the sex life will be so much better for us because we won't be stressing about getting pregnant. Yeah. So you're done with babies and all that. And can we go back to your birth stories? We love birth stories. We do.

24:29Jorgie Porter:Well, so I had elective C-sections and I feel like some people frowned upon it. Why did you hesitate when you said that? Because I think it was quite hard to like, like the NHS nurses were all like, oh no. And I was like, no, yes, this is what I want. I think because natural birth for me was never on the cards. Never, ever, ever in my life I thought I would do this. I think because there were so many books on how to breathe and I thought, I don't really want to learn how to breathe. Like, Forrest's head was measuring quite big. Oh, he's got quite a big head. And I thought, I've only got little tiny hips.

25:14Jorgie Porter:I thought, number one, I just thought, I thought there's no way this is going to fit through anything. I'm going to have a bad time. So like obviously the whole way through it, I was just like C-section, C-section. And, you know, you have to really say I want this because they try and talk you out of it. So we go there. I had a fantastic midwife, Sandy. Honestly, she so she's like one of our friends and she took us and we got to Wigan Hospital. It was like a nail appointment. It was fantastic. I felt so secure. There was 14 doctors in the room. Really? I got there. We were a bit in the queue. Some people went before me.

25:57Jorgie Porter:I was like, it's okay. We were like, 12 o 'clock, yeah? No, we'll wait. We'll wait one go. Ollie, like, faints at the sight of blood. He did a bad thing by looking over. He was like, whoa, you're inside. Like, everything. He saw everything. Oh, my gosh. He was like, and he went white. And I was like, what are you doing? What's going on down there? So I was like fully awake, fully like a bit of like this. What did it feel like at that time? Well, a bit of pulling and tugging. Right. And there was like a hand on my chest of like, and this was Forrest coming out. So at one point I think, I didn't think I heard him cry.

26:32Jorgie Porter:I think they did have to, I think this is the problem is the, you know, the breathing, the suction of the mucus. Because when you give birth like that, that's what comes out is the mucus. That's how. Yeah. So I think they had to do that to him. which I think was a bit of a moment of worry. But then, straight away, his little bobby hat on. I was like, wow, did he come with this? Did I throw that? Did I? Really nice. Straight on the chest, Ollie was literally like, oh, my God. Because he got to see that he got to cut it, and he was like, this is not cutting. I think it was more traumatic for him, where I was just like, oh, what is it?

27:14Jorgie Porter:It's wonderful. I love that you were so relaxed through that. And I think there is no shame in choosing how you wanted to give birth. Never be ashamed of the fact that you had a C-section, that you chose to have a C-section. You know your body more than anyone else. And I think where the mind goes, the body flows. And if you had convinced yourself, I cannot see myself giving birth naturally, then fine, you did the right thing. And you had a lovely time. Oliver did not. He took his gym kit to the birth. I was like what are we doing with this gym kit he was like well you know I just thought it's a C-section I thought I went no no no what was he going to be doing birth piece what was he going to be did he think he was going to be able to go to the gym whilst you're in theatre which also he's not like a member in Wigan like so where was he going to the gym how long was he going to be that was a moment of you're doing shuttle runs up and down the theatre that's what you're doing brought my gym kit didn't I anyway so I think he thought he wasn't going to stay over but i was like no sandy has got us a room and a bed so you will be staying over oh she's brilliant she was awesome so yeah it was like a a wonderful time for me and then so with peony you did the same elective c-section same room same time same everyone oh same room was sandy there yeah oh my gosh c-section 14 doctors it's like shannon p is this isn't it oh i was like routine everything i knew what i was doing yeah you must have been even more relaxed yeah time round didn't really fake tan second time round didn't think it was necessary you fake tan the first time i did you're a fucking legend the cannula wasn't sticking they were like what's on you i was like oh it's me fake tan i was like oh that's brilliant sorry if i smell like a digestive here be careful where you put in that yeah yeah oh i love that how nice to hear um a relaxing yeah birth story because like how are things down below after after a c-section because it's Obviously different to being severed.

29:07Yeah, perfect. Well, I mean, that's great. But, I mean, here, so the actual, like, scar and stuff there,

29:17Jorgie Porter:there was the moment of, like, lying down. I think because it was numb, I didn't really think, like, I was picking up and walking around, and I didn't really rest probably as much as I should have done, especially the second time around with Peony. I was lifting forest, and I should have been resting, and it was like seeping and it was open so that was pretty bad and I went to the doctors and they were like you need antibiotics and you need to take them properly because I think I wasn't really thinking straight um and they were like there was one day I was on the sofa and I was like like this and Ollie was like you okay I was like I'm not okay so I was like really like in and out of this weird I went straight to the doctor straight on antibiotics and I thought oh it's a bit serious oh my gosh because obviously like with your toddler and you like your baby yeah you're like oh doing this and because you're numb you're not real and you and I think actually my abs have not got back together I think there's that pull because they've been opened yeah um there's that sort of seriousness on my back oh my god I'm like an 80 year old person I literally have to go and And then like push the rest up.

30:29Jorgie Porter:So I think I should have taken the aftercare a bit more seriously. But I think as well because you've got other babies to look after when you do. Then it's even more of a, what am I doing? Or you go into like this mode of survival mode. And you don't really think of what you're actually doing. Yeah. And it takes one of your mates to be like, are you okay? Yeah. Yeah, I'm absolutely fine. Oh my God. But when I was like, then that's when I like burst into tears. Are you all right? Oh, I don't know. I don't know. I remember my mother-in-law she was like what can I do and I was like thank you I was like can you just wash my sheets she's like yes and she took them all shipped them to the laundrette they all came back like you know like perfectly ironed and everything and I was like that made you is amazing and you know you think back to the days where when women gave birth they were either in hospital for a month or you had like a whole your whole village everyone of like the matriarchy around you looking after you we don't have that anymore no and we're just expected to get on with it it's incredible that it's expected that you would give birth having maybe been in labor for like three days not slept sleep deprivation and then all of a sudden it's like you get the baby blues i remember after i had bradley it was like baby blues what's that it's like oh a couple of days after you'll be sweating your tits off and then you just cry uncontrollably for ages and that's when then your milk's gonna come in so your boobs are gonna go rock out and you sat there like what's all these things

32:00sorry i remember crying so much watching an advert for the army yeah but i actually like looked online i was like i'm gonna become a cadet because i was that like so emotional i was like i

32:16Jorgie Porter:I would cry when cows would be out in the rain. I'd be like, they're so cold. Are they okay? Why are they just on a field? I was like, do they not get, like, warm? And everything was, like, upsetting and worrying. What would be your advice for, like, postpartum mums? Oh, phone your friends, please. Like, I'm so blessed with my friends. I just had maybe two or three who had babies before me. And I actually phoned them and was like, oh, you weren't okay, were you? when I was like, you're going to come to my party? And I was like, I'm sorry. Can't believe she didn't come postpartum in fourth trimester a lot of it.

32:52She's such a shit friend.

32:54Jorgie Porter:And a lot of my friends had twins. Like, they had twins. So, like, my best friend had twins. And I was like, oh. And she would, like, phone me up and go, ah! I just screamed down the phone. And I was like, oh, I don't know how to cope with that. I'll call you later. How did you feel going from, like, this? Well, you still are a pin-up girl. But, like, I guess when you went through motherhood and pregnancy and in the trenches of breastfeeding, did you look at these pictures and just go like like wow I want to be her again how do I get back back to being her like I want to hold on to the identity well it's funny I so in the beginning I loved loved lab mags honestly I the the shoot would be you'd be in a little light dressing gown like all shy and like oh whatever the next minute you're in the thong you're walking around you're like give me my bra put my chicken fillets in oh every like love the makeup I look at the picture and be like that's not me like honestly I'd be like as well because I'm not like that I'm not like I'm I don't know I feel like I'm just a bit goofy a bit whatever so that would just always be fun propel fitness water with Gatorade electrolytes zero sugar and vitamins propel hydrates better than water to help you get the most out of your workout and get back to your best self.

34:44Jorgie Porter:And the money was pretty good. I bought my mum a car. She wanted a Peugeot 206. I was like, I'll get you a Peugeot 206, mum. Brilliant. You are such a legend. I love you so much. I really do. So, that brilliant life. Ollie as well. I think he pretends he didn't really like it. Whatever. I've seen him with a calendar. He's had a calendar. saw it i've seen it i was like course he has anyway so he turns he doesn't care so then obviously your body changing i quite liked a belly like because you like it's for a reason yeah i think um i think you when you're always like on telly or what you look like i think me growing up i was like a ballerina as well so weight and stuff issues i was always like one minute I was bigger one minute I wasn't like my weight varies up and down depending on working whatever all that kind of stuff so having a belly was like oh it's allowed like a belly's great and my boobs were like wow massive like wow sexy boobs like brilliant

35:51Jorgie Porter:because I was watching you guys DPD those moments Clive took a picture of me with my boob out oh no oh Clive knew what he was doing but as well Clive are you on all the oaks yes I am like obviously I thought you know you know and now the picture I thought that's for you that you can have that yeah that is a wank bank Clive all those moments what happened i think i think for me afterwards breastfeeding i lost so much weight like i was a bit skinny and everyone was a bit worried they're like oh you're too skinny and i was like i'm eating i am doing everything i think i was like a nervous wreck and i don't want to go to the gym i don't have the energy to go to the gym i'm carrying two children yeah that for me is weight lifting oh absolutely like and i look back at my pictures i'm like oh i've got a right little cute bum i think i'd want my bum and my boobs back but at the minute i'm like i'll i'll get back to working out later at the minute i'm in the trenches i'm carrying a toddler whose legs are aching and Pini who's like massive she is hefty so I'm like I don't like don't worry about me yet I'm all right yeah right we always talk about parenting fails on this show oh yeah do you have any fails that you can share with us so recently I'm trying to tell Forrest about how I'm like on telly yeah because he loves the wiggles he loved the wiggles and he was obsessed and I was like you know like mum's a bit like the wiggles like you know mum was a bit like on telly like youtube like and he was like what do you mean I was like it's my job like I was trying to make him love me through my acting job right because he loved the wiggles I thought I'm a bit like the wiggles like you know anyway we were in the woods and there was like a pile of leaves and this is really far-fetched and really crazy I know and it's very not relatable to anyone um so I was like oh Boris this is a bear trap and he was like a bear trap and I was like yeah once mummy was caught in a bear trap on the jungle and celebrity jungle because mummy was on a tv show that was really and he's like over it and I was like gone too far with my story anyway I have made him terrified of bear traps honestly like this is the worst fail in my life like I then decided to show him on YouTube a second of me getting caught by a bear trap so it was like full of leaves it was like you know a task I got caught up in a bear trap and he literally watched it and went oh mommy I was like oh that's terrifying so his little mind when we go in the woods now is like it's gonna be bears oh my god bless him and I've had to tell him that like there's only bears in Canada there's only bears in and he's like will there be bears i'm like no and he's like we can't go there mommy because of bears and a bear trap and i was like and i've ruined oh bless him i totally get that he's seen his mum be trapped oh my god so he sees a pile of leaves and he goes that's mummy oh no he's gonna be a bloody nightmare at forest school isn't he i've ruined everything his name is forest school he won't like he won't go he'll be awful oh bless him i know so ruined it that's brilliant that's brilliant um well we are delighted that this episode is sponsored by aldi mamiya range and this is something that's been written in by one of our lovely followers and they say i have just given birth to my second baby and my toddler whose two is driving me crazy he loves his new sister but is acting up all the time how do i survive this listen to our show yeah i think there's more things that you don't realize what's going like your toddler's going to start talking like a baby oh my god they totally regress and i'm sorry but i i found it really irritating and my my daughter still does it now sometimes she'll sometimes do this baby talk she's like mommy and i'm like no how do you do this how do you go i'm literally like get your strong voice out do a cough and your voice will come back like how do you get it how do you make it stop i don't know it's hard but toddlers do act up when another baby arrives because they feel like they've been out of play they're out you know who is this other person how dare they take my mom's attention um how do you survive this drink wine talk to your mates it's a phase it's natural they're gonna like regress they're gonna act up because of the whole attention thing yeah but all you need to do is just like be headstrong that what you are doing is the best and it's a transition for them and it's such I would never change how them having siblings but when they first meet it's like why are you acting like a dick or you go to a cafe and think you can have a cake and a hot like a little hot chocolate with marshmallows and then just start acting up because you're trying to breastfeed or you're trying yeah and you can it's just a process I mean I remember we I would try and have some one to one-on-one time with the toddler yeah and just make them feel like they're still very special to mummy and this is just us but sometimes you can't do that like jesse went back to work after two weeks and i was just stuck with the babies at home i remember i was breastfeeding peony and forest was so ill and he just needed a cuddle and i visit like physically couldn't grab him to cuddle him and like nestle with him because peony's legs were there yeah and it was that moment of him in that second that he needed me so and i actually feel like that was um a weird time as well carrying on for a good couple of months where he was a bit like he'd say things like no mummy you have peony and i go to daddy and i was like oh he's learned it in his little mind for a bit but now he's coming out of it yeah so i always i always think you have to tell like mums it's just a phase yes like everything will end but it's something that i think all mothers can relate to this if they have um a new baby and a toddler it's you're on the right track it's just difficult it's never going to be easy is it no i know a mum at my daughter's nursery and um she her daughter is the same age is Annabelle who's just turned three and um she's just had twins a boy and a girl and I saw her the other week and she was like okay she said hiya and I was like how are you and she was like I'm here but so and what was yeah we're here like her daughter is at nursery she's here and what was actually hilarious she was like there's a really big difference between boys and girls and then she she opened the car doors the boy was like chunky asleep just chilling the dummy didn't give a shit and the daughter was like and she was having this full-blown conversation with me and their babies are about six weeks old and they come into my house in a couple of weeks and she was just like this is a difference between boys and girls but she was so relaxed and she was saying that her daughter um she was like struggling a bit when she first had like twins yeah but she's like now we just yeah we get out of it i'm here the look when you see them arrive with like new kids and newborns he's like oh yeah and you're either that mum that's like oh god i'm really struggling or you're just like fuck it fuck it yeah it's happening it's happening i'm here i've arrived Piri does this new thing where she goes, blah, blah, blah.

43:47Jorgie Porter:And that's it now. That's my thing. I just go, blah. Oh, that's really cute. That's life. Blah. Oh, I love that. When we have a little stressful moment, we just go, blah.
