0:01Hi, I'm Joe Kernan, co-host of Swockbox, and this is five things to know before today's opening bell. Shares of Block are sharply higher after Friday's close. S &P Global announced that the stock will join the S &P 500 on Wednesday. It's going to replace Hess, which was just acquired by Chevron. Alaska Airlines resuming operations overnight after grounding its flights for about three hours because of an IT outage. The airline requested a system-wide ground stop for Alaska and Horizon Air flights around 8 p.m. Pacific time yesterday and lifted the ground stop by 11 p.m. Pacific. Alaska did not elaborate on the nature of that outage, the IT outage.

0:43And China's exports of rare earth magnets to the U.S. jumping in June to more than seven times their level in May. That followed easing of some trade tensions last month. Still, the June level was about 40 percent below the same thing the month last year. And Trump administration officials are reportedly planning to pay a visit to the Federal Reserve amid a probe involving the renovation of the headquarters. That's according to news website Semaphore. It comes amid speculation that President Trump may be trying to lay the groundwork for firing Fed Chair Jerome Powell. That's our five things. No, there were only four.

1:22But did you know there were only four? People aren't counting. The fifth, data company astronomer says its CEO, Andy Brown, has resigned days after he's featured on a kiss cam at a Coldplay concert hugging the company's head of human resources. The moment exploded across social media. On Friday, astronomers said it had launched a formal investigation into the matter. He's gone. I don't know whether she's staying, but I remembered my favorite meme. My absolute favorite one was Patrick Mahomes with his arms around a referee. She was a female referee because a lot of people think the chiefs. A lot of people think the Chiefs get some pretty good calls.

2:07I thought of a good one. We did it, the two of us. Do they have the image ready to go? Oh, my. Oh, there it is. See, I don't like that. But then I had to go down immediately. Excuse me? No, I mean, you know. You're so. You know what? So here's who I think. Here's who I think. Here's who I think we should do it with. Centelli and Leisman. Oh. Yeah. Yeah, that's good. I'm going to keep thinking. I'm going to keep thinking about it. Okay. We'll be back later today with an all-new Squawk Pod, our daily podcast featuring the best of Squawk Box.
