0:00Hi, my name is Lewis Howes and welcome to the Daily Motivation Show.

0:11Just waking up in the morning, gotta thank God. I don't know, but today seems kind of odd. You thank God every day? Yeah, multiple times. Really? What do you say to God? Thank you. Just appreciate being this blessed. Not too many people go through life living all their dreams out here. Wow. So I just feel extremely humbled and honored and don't know why it's me, but very grateful and thankful that it is. Did you always have a relationship with God growing up? Yeah. Who instilled that in you? My mother, grandmother, they were the first. Back when I grew up, it really took a village. So you had neighbors who would take you to church.

0:57You know what I'm saying? Make sure you knew the word and know why you were able to eat good food and live, you know, a decent life and always make sure you put it in perspective. Why do you think you were chosen to live this life and to be able to have the life you've lived? I believe ultimately I'm a good person. You know, I would never abuse my position. And so it's strange because some people that's granted much more than me, that's very abusive to the people they work with. You know, you have horror stories and stuff and all this stuff. And so I ain't really about that. You know, I'm about being fair, treating people fair, you know, makes me sleep better at night.

1:44Right, right. And I feel like, you know, if you do the right thing, you should be rewarded in some kind of way, shape or form. From all of your success in career, but also in personal life, what would you say is the greatest gift that God has given you? A family. That's the greatest gift. Because all this means nothing if there's no one to share with. You will be a very empty person if you have the world at your feet and there's nobody to share. The great moments, the not-so-great moments. You know, so having a family is the cream of the crop. And, you know, if I had to live without any of this, the only thing I would want to keep is my family.

2:29Wow. What's the thing you love the most about your wife? She's smart. It's not just book smarts. You know, she has, you know, that thing that you would think Mother Nature would have. You know, just knowing things, you know, on a spiritual level. she could show me a lot about things that I may not even thought of. And so I respect that about her. Appreciate that she's looking at a part of the universe that I'm not. By her knowing and sharing with me, now I'm able to know. And I can show her things about my world that she may not even be interested in, but she can learn about people. Did you always know you wanted to be a father growing up?

3:12No, I never even thought about it. Really? When you're young, you don't think I'm ready to be somebody's father. But I'm lucky that she's the mother of my children because she's a good mother. Nothing is more important to her than our kids. So where I may be distracted, she's on point in making sure they do what they're supposed to do at the age that they're at. They're grown now, but she was always front and center and attentive. She never checked out. What was the greatest lesson you learned when you first became a father? That is not all about me no more. You know, it teaches you that you have a bigger responsibility in life than just your well-being.

4:02You know, you have to be a teacher. You have to become experienced. You have to learn so you can teach, you know. consider someone other than yourself as the most important person around. You know, you got love for your parents and your brothers, your sisters, your sibling, your woman, but you still, you know, got you on your mind. When you're a father, now you have your child comes first. This is the next generation. This is progression of life, and it's your duty to see it through. I don't think we'll ever be judged on some of the things we think we're going to be judged on. We're going to be judged, to me, on what are we the gods of?

4:55And how do we treat whatever's under us? You know, whatever has to adhere to our will. You know, our kids, our pets, people that have to listen to us. How do we treat them and how do we, you know, take our position over their lives? You know, are we abusive with that? Are we selfish with that? Are we considerate? Are you a bully just because you have power or something? Yeah, you know, it's like I heard a wise man say, be good to your kids because they're going to have to take care of you one day. That's true. yeah you know they grow up they're gonna remember they're gonna remember you how you treated them yeah
