In short
Turn confusion into certainty by finishing what you start; go “all in” to reveal whether something is right, and expand your “vessel” to receive more light/energy.
Guest
David Ghiyam (host Lewis Howes interviews him; Ghiyam shares Kabbalah-based teachings and personal experience).
Key claims
People live off others’ certainty (e.g., parents’ opinions), causing shame/sadness; limbo ends only by committing fully. Certainty grows when you finish, and the “light and vessel” must match to avoid “short circuits” (flash then darkness).
Notable examples
Ghiyam went all-in on Kabbalah, later graduated college, started a nonprofit at 20, traveled giving seminars, and observed generational wealth “curses” involving illness, mental health issues, and drug overdoses; he uses a 60-watt bulb vs 1,000-watt analogy and argues the question isn’t “good/bad” substances but whether they serve your vessel.

Hi, my name is Lewis Howes and welcome to the Daily Motivation Show.
0:41David Ghiyam:If you don't manifest something fully till its end, even if it's the wrong thing, you will have never finished that process, learned its wisdom, and achieved a level of certainty. So certainty is so powerful. So I'm going to save this lesson in a tangent. Certainty is so powerful that you should do everything in your power to achieve this consciousness. And the greatest way to achieve certainty is to finish something. So when you finish something, you either see it makes you happy, blessed, and successful, or you see that it was the wrong thing. But you have certainty. What a lot of people do is they assume the future.
1:21They dream also about a lot of different things. Like, oh, I want to do this, or I want to do this project. I want to try this thing. they have all these different passions and ideas, and they don't do any of them.
1:30David Ghiyam:Correct. Correct, because they're listening to everyone else's certainty. Your mom tells you, hey, this isn't going to be good for you. So you're living off of her certainty. It's not yours. In the Kabbalah, we call that actually the bread of shame, meaning when I'm not the cause of my life, I have not earned spiritually a vessel to receive abundance. I'm borrowing everyone else's vessel. I'm borrowing other people's opinions. I'm living vicariously through everyone else's life. This is actually the greatest cause of sadness and shame and sorrow. And people usually wake up 10, 20, 30, 40 years later realizing I live somebody else's life.
2:06David Ghiyam:And I listen to people because I'm a people pleaser. I have my own self-worth issues, so on and so forth. So I would say like right now you should know that the greatest thing you can do for yourself is to try things and to go all the way with them. someone asked me, how do I know this relationship is the right one? I said, the only way you're going to know is to go all in at that stage that you're in. Because everyone's thinking, I only want to go all in if I'm meant to marry that person. I'm not saying when you're just dating someone and you don't know. I'm saying when you're kind of like, you invest a lot of time and you're wondering, you know, what do I do here?
2:42David Ghiyam:You're kind of in a limbo. Whenever you're stuck, just go all the way. Because you'll either realize it was meant to be or not and you'll get certainty. And once you have certainty, your vessel now expands and more light can come in. More of the universal energy of creation comes in and it opens a new door for you. However, a lot of people are trying to always anticipate what the future is going to look like. And so they're like, well, what's going to happen when I go all in? How am I going to know? These questions we cannot ask. We must go all in. The door will open. The wisdom will be revealed and the clarity will come.
3:14So then going back to my life, I started to sit in Kabbalah.
3:18David Ghiyam:It was unbelievable. I went all in, graduated college, and at 20, I said, I'm going to do this for no money for a nonprofit. Traveled the world, gave thousands of seminars, did coaching, met the most amazing people in the world, learned how they were living their lives, learned how Fortune 500 CEOs lived their life. I learned founders, learned celebrities. There was a big celebrity period, early 2000s, that I was part of. And I got to witness their lives. I got to witness the pain. I got to witness what fame did to them. I got to witness what their children were going through, which was really painful.
3:53David Ghiyam:I got to witness almost like there was this one very wealthy family, a very wealthy family. And they called it the curse of the last name of the family. So there's like a curse almost every year because there was so much money and wealth passed down. It's really interesting. And they asked me, he asked me, he was probably 40 years old at the time, a billionaire, but wealth that was passed down generationally. Many movies meet about that. Passed down from his parents to him. His grandparents, his grandparents. It's a very well-known generationally wealthy family. And he said, you know, I feel like my family has a curse because in every generation, this problem, that's a problem.
4:32David Ghiyam:Children who go through difficulties and sickness, mental illness and all these things. And drug overdose or whatever. Drugs was a big one too. So he said, what's going on spiritually? When he learned Kabbalah, he learned that light and vessel have to match up. Meaning we all want a lot of energy, but we're not being conscious of the vessel that holds that energy. For example, if I have a 60 watt bulb, I can only hold 60 watts of energy. If I try to funnel in a thousand watts of energy, I'm going to have a short circuit. I'm going to have an explosion. Interestingly, this explosion will be a flash of light that's beautiful, but then there's darkness right after.
5:15David Ghiyam:And you can't use it again. And you can't use it again. So this is how most people live their lives. No one taught us how to expand the vessel. No one taught us how do I get from a 60-watt bulb to a 1 ,000-watt bulb. Everyone out there, including the best marketers, they're trying to tell you, hey, here's 1 ,000 watts of energy. You should take this into your vessel. You're going to love this product. You're going to love this food. You're going to love this relationship. Look at all these beautiful models. There's pornography. There's all of these unrealistic energies. And when you bring it into your vessel, you short circuit it.
5:47David Ghiyam:Someone asked me once, is there a problem if I do cocaine, if I do drugs? This is a question I get all the time. Really? Yeah. And they say the drug's bad. In Kabbalah, we learn there's no such thing as good or bad. It's light and vessel, energy and the capacity to hold that energy. Is it serving your vessels should be the question. That is the question. Because if you go good, bad, you're going to destroy this planet. You're going to destroy each other. Because we're all like, you're good, you're bad. You're in judgment. You're in judgment mode. And so every question should be asking yourself, is this act, is this thought, is this relationship in service to my vessel, bringing more light into the world?
6:25David Ghiyam:Beautiful. Is this in service to my vessel so that I can receive and manifest and harness the light that is already there waiting to come in?

David Ghiyam spent years around Fortune 500 CEOs and A-list celebrities.
He watched what fame actually did to their kids.
One billionaire, from a family with generational wealth, told him his family was cursed. Sickness. Addiction. Mental illness. Every generation.
David says it's not a curse. It's a mismatch.
You can only hold as much energy as your vessel allows. Pour in more than you can carry and you short circuit. A flash of light, then darkness.
That's what happens when we chase relationships, money, or approval we haven't actually built the capacity for.
David's answer? Stop borrowing everyone else's certainty. Stop living off your mom's opinion or your fear of picking wrong.
Go all in. Finish what you start, even if it's wrong. That's the only way you ever get free.
