In short

This episode is a “best of” roundup of the FIFA Club World Cup, mixing match highlights, standout goals, upsets, and off-pitch stories. Hosts and guests discuss Inter Miami’s run (including Lionel Messi’s decisive free-kick and Suarez’s goals), PSG’s dominance and eventual final berth, and Chelsea’s strong performances culminating in a Club World Cup final win led by Cole Palmer’s two goals.

Key claims

Luis Enrique’s man-management (turning Dembele into a team-first player) worked; Man City were tactically vulnerable on transitions despite dominating; Al-Hilal’s run was a surprise “could go deep” outcome; Cole Palmer is the tournament’s standout performer. Notable examples include Messi’s free-kick, Lautaro Martinez’s last-minute bicycle kick, and Chelsea’s Palmer dummy-and-cut-inside finish.

Guests

Millie Bright and Rachel Daly (England Euros 2022 winners; hosts/insights for women’s football); Gary Lineker (host/football pundit); Micah Richards, Alan (pundit), and Alex (pundit).

2:14Hello everyone, Gary Lineker here. Today's episode is a look back at some of the best and funniest moments from this summer's Club World Cup. From stunning goals and huge upsets to stories of close encounters with sharks and partying with the winners. There was a lot going on. We hope you've enjoyed our coverage of the tournament and the fact that we were able to bring you all the best match action in our video output across YouTube and social media too. It's something we've loved being able to do and we'll certainly be looking to do more of that sort of thing for you in the future. But without any further ado, here are some of the best bits from the last few weeks.

2:53About three months ago, I left my wallet in the back of a black taxi. And I thought overnight, left it, left it. And then I thought, I'll wait till the morning before I cancel my cards. And I woke up the next morning, came down the stairs and my wallet had been pushed through the letterbox. So I was, that was, yes, thank you very much. So three months later, my son George orders a taxi from home and he comes outside. I see George out of the house and the taxi driver says, hey, Gary, did you get your wallet back? I went, it was you. I said, I was trying to find out who it was on my history and all that sort of stuff, but I couldn't.

3:29I just wanted to say thank you. He said, no, I don't want anything. I don't want anything. I said, OK, well, you're taking George now. I said, let me give him something to give you a big tip with. He went, no, absolutely not. He said, all I want is a mention on the rest is football. So, Jim, the Fulham fan, thank you very much indeed. The first goal that really scored was really worked really well in terms of it come from long. There's a little flick on and then it went wide. And then you're thinking, how is he going to get out of this? A cheeky little nutmeg. But the movement from the striker in there, I don't even know how to pronounce his name.

4:06It's Mon - Mon - Mon - Mon - Mon - Mon - Mon - Is that all right, guys? Mon - Mon - Mon - But the movement - Sounds good to me. The movement was sublime. The pass was excellent. and I thought, ooh, yes, this team's got a bit and then they go to the look. But there was a part of me that said, someone's going to get sent off. They can't keep playing this way and the referee not giving them a red card. And in the second half, you know. Still a play.

4:40It's been a real battle today for Nadine and Luis. So the red card has been shown and now both teams are going to finish. with Nicola Figa showing a straight red card and Herrera was sent off he wasn't even on the pitch I know yeah bad night for him subbed off injured and then a red card Chelsea off to a winning start as you'd expect and a good start for Liam De Lappe came on and had his sick went down the right Palmer to put him in I think and then beautiful beautiful cross from Delap. Well, you say that. Good start for him. You say that because I put a message in the group saying Delap's struggling a little bit and then two minutes later he got the assist.

5:30I was waiting for the delete to come on to do a real message. Yeah. Message deleted. No, because I thought Jackson was playing really well, you know. He did well, eh? Obviously he's going to have to up his game. I'm always a big fan of Jackson. I think he can score more goals, obviously. But his whole link-up play was very, very good, I thought. And then, obviously, you want to see De Lapp come on and score, be in English, you want him to score and assist, and just play well. But a couple of his early touches, I thought, ooh, it looks a bit fast out there for him. Obviously, getting used to a new team.

6:06And then he grew into the game after about five or ten minutes. It was like stature. He was going into pockets, getting the ball. and then even when it got wide, the delivery on the cross was outstanding. It was for... Enzo. Enzo, who just made a dart and run into the box. I just thought, ooh, I can see these combinations working really well next season. So you look at Vettinia, at times he was playing as a centre-half, getting the ball, commanding it. And then when he gets his goal, there was like a split second where he could have played left. He took a little touch to the right and then made the space for himself and then just whipped it past the goalkeeper.

6:50But the balance of their midfield is just extraordinary. And they've got one or two other youngsters as well, haven't they? And Mayulu scored, of course, in the final, scored again. I mean, he looks an exciting prospect. He's really young as well. I just think the way Luis Enrique has handled those players as well, when we think about what happened with Usman Dembele at the start of the season, that could have gone either way, right? It was a crossroads moment there. and whatever he said to him, it worked, right? Absolutely. Have you seen, Alex, there was a little clip, it was on social media where Luis Enrique is talking to Kylian Mbappe and trying to get him to buy into the whole, you've got to work hard, it's not.

7:28And I thought it was really insightful and I would imagine he had similar conversations with perhaps someone like Dembele. Yeah, he doesn't want those big egos, does he? No, no egos. And there was another one I saw where he was talking in a conversation about talking to, not necessarily, talking about his team or footballers in general saying, you're not special. You're not special. And it's all about keeping their egos down. And when he says they're not special, he says, you've been lucky. And it's so true this. You're born with a gift to play football. Tell us what it was like watching Inter Miami and Messi in the early game.

8:06I know there was no goals in the game. And you said, and I noticed as well, that they were largely outplayed, particularly in the first half. I mean, the keeper saved a penalty as well, of course, didn't he? Yeah, that was Trezeguet. Messi went close at the end. Great deliverance into woodwork. Well, that opening game was amazing. They had an opening ceremony as well. I don't know if you saw it. Fireworks, French Montana performing. Do you know French Montana? Micah won it we do Alex not the old fogies still then the players came out one by one Beckham was there sorry sorry sorry Sir David Beckham was there Sir David I congratulated him on his knighthood and asked if he remembered me from years ago when I interviewed him at Realm of Jib he said yes but jury's out he was lying he was lying he was definitely lying knights don't lie Alex knights of the realm do not lie don't text him I can text him for you Al I can text him for you.

9:06No problem. Okay, okay. Get him to get me in at Mama. Listen to him. I can text him for you. What a knob he is. Guys, I'm just rolling the highest of circles now. Micah, not you, sir, David. Micah, not you. He might have changed his number now. He's a knight. Get rid of people like Micah. Bill Tiller-Hut. Call them. I think Aitnori will definitely play the next game out in Atlanta against Alain because Pep made it very clear I'm going to give everyone minutes. He'd said, weirdly, in the press conference day before, he'd said that Rodri wasn't going to play. And then before the match, he was like, yeah, I'd love him.

9:42So minutes and he came on, which was brilliant news. He was so angry about the red card, though. Rico Lewis getting sent off, which I think was pretty unfair, to be honest. So lucky with the execution and then a big collision as the referee reached his pocket. Oh, no. I mean, that was ridiculous. I mean, I don't know what you think, Alan or Alex. I mean, I thought it was utterly bonked. I mean, he's coming. The bow's slid in. He's got the ball comfortably. He's followed through. And you can't stop. Your foot's got to go somewhere. Obviously, it was a complete accident. I mean, come on, use some common sense.

10:18Me too. That's what I thought. I thought exactly the same. I thought it was a bizarre decision. I mean, once you go down and you're in on a sliding tackle, there is no way of stopping yourself, is there? So I thought it was a stupid decision. Yeah, it was my second question. to Pep, I had to ask him and I just knew what was coming. What do you think? What do you think? You know, obviously he was just fuming, but he appealed it. No, Alec, come on. So what do you think? What did you tell him? What did you say to Pep? Oh, I said, well, you know, it's 50-50. You can appeal it though, Pep, if you'd like to.

10:49But he sort of let it go. He said, look, these things happen and we move forward. Slightly concerned about Juve after that. I think we should move on to Juve, just at this point, Alec. I was like, ah, they won't go through. They won't go through. Remind us who you thought would go through from this group at the expense of Juve. That would have been... I said Al Ain. I said Manchester City Al Ain, which is looking pretty bleak for me. I was checking the score last night on the plane, just thinking... We won't mention it again, Alex. It's fine. It's all right. But, you know, it was close. It was 5-0.

11:25So I'm going to go to Atlanta to Manchester City Al Ain. that's when I'm going to wear my Alain shirt. You'll see me in the crowds with the ultras. You'll need it. You'll need it. In your defence, Alex, you are getting a lot of love from the podcast listeners or watchers or whoever. It's like they're all loving what you're seeing. You've brought knowledge to the football that obviously we haven't got. So, yeah, well done you.

11:50That's a fair point, I would say. But nevertheless, nevertheless, significant victory against a European club. How apt it was that Messi got the goal. I mean, if you're ever going to write a script, then that was it, wasn't it? Yeah. Lionel Messi for Interme Army. To step up, to put them two and up. Lionel Messi! Bang! It's marvellous! It's magical! It's Messi! How does he make it look so easy? Al, you scored a few of those in your time I'm not sure with that elegance or with the clip over the wall and to guide it in and curl it in it's more, I don't know, a bit of power with me but he just, I mean as soon as he stood over the ball you're just thinking this is going to happen, isn't it?

12:42It's going to happen It was an incredible man How is he doing it? 37 years old banging those three kicks in 38 in a day or two, isn't he? I think his birthday is on the 24th or a few days, two or three days time. You should know you stalk him, do everything else. I do, I do. I'm a bit of a fanboy. Try and get an invite to his party, I think. And Alan, shout out to Alan. I think you backed into Miami to go through, didn't you? Yes, I did. How can you not with him? With him and the team, I mean, you must think, they have to have a chance. And I think, yeah, it's like, he's just ridiculous, isn't he?

13:21I don't know how he keeps doing it. He's scored more free kicks than penalties since 2018. Wow. I've got some other stats here. It was his 866th goal, 1 ,250 goal contributions in 1 ,104 games, 68th free kick and 50 goals for Inter. I mean, I think he was, what was it? The superior player of the match. Superior. The Spom. The Spom, as they call it. I think they should chuck Spom in the spam. Penny for Cristiano Ronaldo's thoughts. He's not going to like all this attention. Cristiano also scored the golden in the Nations League final. So it's worth mentioning that. I mean, he keeps going on as well and still scores goals.

14:10We've got to talk about Nicholas Jackson. I mean, what was he thinking? On his birthday as well. Yeah.

14:35Not good, not good. And he was sent off towards the end of last season as well, wasn't he, against Newcastle? Yeah. You'd think he'd have learnt from that. But yeah, I don't think we can even call it a tackle, can we? Well, no, I think his birthday celebrations went over the top. Maybe good news for Liam DeLapp though Well yeah Obviously he went off for him And then four minutes later He gets himself sent off But he had one effort Didn't he in the first half That was straight Pushed it over Yeah it wasn't a great effort Pushed it over What is he thinking though What is he I mean Because it happened It happened what Three, four months ago Against Newcastle I remember it really well And then he had the Sort of the apology And then it happens again I mean he's not He's not a youngster anymore Is he There is a time where you think this is not acceptable and that cannot happen again.

15:24If it happens once, okay, you say, hands up, he's made an error. But then it happens twice and you think, is there an issue here? Is there a problem with his attitude, his mentality? So this cannot happen again at Chelsea. What is he, 24? So he's not a youngster. He's got to learn. Yeah, and it could cost them because now it's a must not lose. in their final game against Lesnar Lugans. Which you would expect them to win, but they're going to have to do that. I felt for a row where diamonds, I mean, they look like they might sneak a victory in that game and ended up on the end of a last minute defeat.

16:05Last minute. Yeah, an amazing bicycle kick from Lautaro Martinez. Yeah, wasn't it? Wow. I actually watched it from Baggage Reclaim at Atlanta Airport. They had the football on the screens. It was amazing. On your baggage? Never miss a minute. It was a great finish because he was actually going away from goal, wasn't he? He was going towards the six-yard line, which was away from goal. I mean, somehow he managed to sort of flick it around and acrobatically get there. It was an incredible finish. I thought I was interviewing Bruno Large and their goalkeeper, Trubin. So I was all ready to do that.

16:38And then last minute they changed plans. I'm like, no, you're doing company and Muller. So suddenly I'm interviewing the losing side. you know it's a totally different narrative but it's yeah it's fairly straightforward isn't it you sort of know what you're going to ask you're full of questions severe Micah I love it anything else you want to know Micah? no nothing at all nothing at all I do know the role of presenter of Match of the Day has already been taken don't you Micah?

17:07I'm not getting involved in this I don't want a part of this neither am I anymore I'm making this impossible it in Micah Richard 37 new Micah new me that's it start so wide

17:26kind of nice synergy isn't it Messi against these former club PSG where things didn't really go that well yeah you can see it now can't you he scores the winning goal to knock them out that would be some fairytale for into Miami and Lionel Messi who was 37 yesterday everyone's 37 no 38 38 yesterday. He's a year older than Micah. Doesn't look it, Micah, don't worry. And he's 33 times in his career. He's been in a group stage for either his club or his country. And he's gone through 33 times. Yeah, it just shows you you've got an advantage if you've got Lionel Messi. Just a bit. In your starting line-up.

18:07And it's the first time in those however many years we've been watching him, 20 years or so that he'll face a former club oh wow interesting nice start that it's a nice one isn't it I like that and I think it's great for the tournament to have into Miami through as well I think so you always want to hope even though obviously it's not a world cup it's a club world cup but you want one or two perhaps of the home and there was and it was I don't think many of us thought there was much chance of getting any of them into the knockout stage I'm sure one of us must have said if Miami had gone through One of us must have said that, didn't he?

18:42I think it was me. Yee. I'm a little son. HD. Well done, Alan. Well done. Yeah, well done. Big pat on the back. Very good. It's going to be tough though, isn't it? I mean, PSG are so good. I mean, I know they got beaten by Botafogo, but... Where's it being played? Yeah, that game's in Atlanta with the air conditioning. Lucky them. That'll be a relief for everyone. But how good was that? Sorry, I was going to say the Suarez. It was amazing. I just want, firstly, the first, I mean, you shouldn't laugh at these things, really, but the first goal, brilliant chess pass, wasn't it, from Suarez, and three went on goal, and the poor defender is tracking him back, and it looked like he'd been shot by a sniper in the back of his leg, by Micah, clay pigeon shooting.

19:33Oh, yes. Yeah, you shouldn't laugh, yeah, I know it's... No, it's not funny, but it was just, it was almost comical, the way it happened though in a way but Suarez the second goal it's like great finish Luis Suarez it's past 1-2 Luis Suarez still for Inter Miami I've been watching him recently and he's let's say he's not as sharp as he used to be but there's there's still life in the old dog yeah I remember watching him in that first game and he was really struggling to run by the end of it and then that goal what an effort that was brilliant goal solo effort there Where does Suarez rank probably in the best number nines of the last, say, two decades, Alan?

20:14He's got to be right up there, you know, for me. Yeah, I mean, he was phenomenal. He was incredible. He had an attitude that I liked, you know. He didn't take any nonsense. I know he did one or two things that he shouldn't have done over his career. But ability-wise, yeah, without doubt, he was sensational. Might have him right up there, certainly in the top three. Ooh. Maybe top three then, Gaz. Oh, blimey. There's a few. We're talking number nines, or we're just talking four? No, nines. So I'm not talking about... I'm not going to put Cristiano as a nine because, I mean, he eventually ended up there, but he wasn't really.

20:55But if he was, he would be number one, obviously. So let's put him as a number nine. Ronaldo, Suarez, and then I think... Kane or Lewandowski. last 20 years Benzema as well Benzema although Benzema a lot of his career played on the left because at that stage when Ronaldo was was eking more to the centre but yeah it's a tough one but Adav Suarez right up there I mean he was different as well you know who I thought was really good Di Maria and not in terms of his running or anything but just he kept the ball every time he got it or he made the right pass or he slowed it down he sped it up when he needs to he's still got real good quality hasn't he great age 37 great age and three goals already I can't believe all these players are still performing and you've been behind a microphone for about seven years now I was performing last night don't you worry about that I don't want to know I don't want to know come on get out of the gut I meant karaoke come on on that note we'll take a break that will be infinitely longer than Micah's performance last night.

22:15I do recall at the start of the tournament that you said Al-Halal could cause a surprise and I said to you, what, you think like a one-off surprise or could they go deep into it? And you went, no, I think they could go deep into the tournament. So credit where credit is due. Thank you, thank you. About time I got a prediction, right?

22:40but yeah no one saw that coming though did they Al Halal were brilliant brilliant brilliant Manchester City will be so disappointed I think Bernardo Silva said it felt like going out of a Champions League but they weren't good enough done on the counter attack Micah what do you think were you disappointed with the goals they conceded same old problems weren't they that's the thing guys I think I've been saying we're talking about City defensively And some of the criticism I find harsh at times, just because when you dominate the ball so much, players are going to be out of position. However, they've conceded too many goals in that manner and they need to shore that up.

23:20I think looking at the tournament for Man City, they've played really well. I've been excited by them. I think Phil Foden's done really well. Haaland's movement, it looks a bit sharper again. Injuries are back. New signings have done well. but they've still got that same problem and it's just that Achilles heel all the time and on that transition they need to be better and more organised no matter who plays we can't just say if a Rodri plays or a defensive midfielder I mean you've got to run back for your teammates be tactical, buy a foul, do something and it's just too easy at times I didn't know that they got injuries as well to Rodri and to Harlan I think Harlan's alright Harlan's alright but we're not sure they're keeping it a bit hush on Rodri, but he came on obviously in 50 odd minutes and then went off in extra time.

24:09Anything from your end there, Alex? Did you get any info on it? No, no, we don't know any more than a slight injury, but fingers crossed. They're probably just knackered to be honest as well. It's quite amusing. I don't know whether you saw the interview at the end of the game with Cole Palmer. He was asked what he said to Esteval He said, well, I just said to him, you know, we're looking forward to seeing you. He went, but I don't think he understood a word I said. There's something about Cole Palmer, isn't there? And he's, I mean, he used to think, oh, maybe he's a bit dim or something, but he's actually not.

24:46He's quite, he's clever, you know. Very clever. And he comes across very likable. And he's so matter-of-fact in his answers that he actually speaks as he thinks almost. I think he knows what he's doing. I think he's very witty. He's like Grealish, where they pretend they're stupid, but they're really not. They know exactly what they're doing. And I think Cole Palmer is exactly the same. Go ahead, Al. What I like is he's that person off camera as well. So you see these interviews and sometimes you think the players play up to the cameras a bit and then do it on purpose. And it's like, come on, just give us a good interview.

25:22But he's exactly like that with his teammates and managers. So that's just him. that's what Cole Palmer's like. Can we talk about him as a player for just a moment? And I know you said he scored finally just before Alex, but, you know, people talk about a bad season. He still scored 15 Premier League goals last season, didn't he? And he went through that spell. But the way he took his goal... That first touch turn. Palmer, lovely turn. Cole Palmer setting himself up and getting the goal for Chelsea. like i'm thinking to myself this guy is he's different level he's the awareness forget forget all the technique we've talked about his technique so much but his awareness to take it on the turn like that then take the extra touch because you thought is he going to get away his shot a little bit earlier and then he waits and then he bends it he's just what a player he is i mean And in terms of that, looking at the World Cup, throwing it forward.

26:26And I know he's not being amazing for England because there's so many. Jude, or is it going to be Foden? But Cole Palmer, now we've got to start thinking, do we build the team around him? Bellingham could play regardless because he could play a little bit deeper. But Cole Palmer is ridiculous. What a talent he is. Wow. What a first start for Jean-Pedro. So it could not have gone any better than that. Yeah, wow, Pedro. I like it. I like it. But the first goal was brilliant. Then I think the second was arguably even better.

27:1275 miles an hour against his boyhood club. What a story that is. He apologised to them. He didn't celebrate. they weren't overly happy with him at the final whistle because we did the interview right in front of the Blumenese fans. I saw you asking him the question. I thought he was very diplomatic. Yeah, he came across well, didn't he? But brilliant start for him. What a player, what a signing, just what Chelsea needed. What a performance on and off the pitch, wasn't it? I mean, it was... The two goals were fantastic. The way he positioned himself, the way the balance and obviously the most important thing, the finish of both of them was just magnificent.

27:50I'm not too sure about the non-celebration. You know as well as you know me that I don't agree with all that crap. Old school. Yeah, his two goals were just outstanding. And Chelsea, I mean, I thought all over the park they were really, really impressive. I mean, you talk about his two goals. Defensively, I thought they were superb. Goal line clearance, defended well when they had to. And they're looking good, aren't they, Chelsea? Obviously, we got that big team news before the game as well about Trent not playing, which was a big blow, I think, because they had to put... Any idea why? He said it was a knock, nothing serious.

28:28Maybe he didn't fancy a Kravitz Schellier. Don't blame him, he's a wise man. He's probably watching at home, thinking of the hotel. Actually, no, he was there. He did come with the team. But so that meant Fede Valverde played at right back, which he does play there a lot, but he was out of his depth yesterday. and then I think they really missed him in midfield as well. So that was a bit of an issue for them. But we didn't expect them to be that bad. We know how good Paris Saint-Germain are, but the first two mistakes, they're opening two goals, which is not good enough. I think if Hausson had been playing, because he was obviously suspended, but yeah, Sencio, that mistake, can't be making that mistake against Paris Saint-Germain.

29:05But by the end of the game, it just looked like a training drill. That final goal, they were just playing, you know, so freely. Created something the way Minotau did there. But now this is the trouble when your defenders are upgrading chances. And Hakimi, Militao can't stop it. He actually did really well. But Barcola, keeping it alive. That's it. Good night, good night. Gonzalo Ramos seals Paris Saint-Germain's place in the FIFA Club World Cup final. They've been head, shoulders, top hat the whole line. And a tribute to Diogo Chota. I think that's something like in this tournament, six clear errors have led to goals, Real Madrid.

29:47Yeah, yeah. First defeat under Xabi. Yeah, he seemed really disappointed after the game, really down. Real Madrid aren't used to getting thumped like that. But Paris Saint-Germain, so good. Only one goal conceded. That was in the Botafogo defeat. So they have lost. They have lost. They are beatable. But it's not going to be easy for Chelsea, is it? what an unbelievable season they've had I mean incredible I would never ever have said that was it no one would Alan no one would September when Arsenal beat them in the Champions League for them to kick on pretty soon after that and go and achieve what they have done I mean and Luis Enrique wow what an unbelievable job he's done and doing incredible it's funny isn't it because managers with coaches I always think it is obviously the most important role really at a football club but normally it's dependent on the players that you've got and stuff and obviously they've lost some superstars in the last couple of seasons most notably Messi, Neymar and Mbappe but despite all that he's managed to garner this team he's managed to get what he's done with Dembele for example really I mean Dembele we all know the talent Dembele's always had he's always probably been And, you know, the potential superstar in him was always there.

31:06He went for that enormous fee, of course, to Barcelona. It didn't quite happen. A lot of injuries, a lot of injuries, which has to play a part. But it was always, you thought, his finishing not quite as good as it possibly could be. His final ball not quite possibly as good as it could be. And then Luis Enrique's got him to buy into being more of a team player. Slightly different role, playing a little bit more centrally. but even when he plays on the right, it's the same. That he's pressing. I mean, the first goal was caused by his pressing. The second, he finished brilliantly as well. I mean, he's turned him into the superstar that we thought we were going to get with Dembele that had never materialised until now.

31:50But yes, Cole Palmer, I mean, giving him the space that he had. And I mean, he was so good. I mean, what a player. Cole Palmer exploiting that space again. Now, what a trick from Palmer. Superb! The finish is almost a carbon copy. But the dummy was bought hook, line and sinker. Such a beautifully gifted footballer. We said it before, it makes the game look easier. He's just so chilled, isn't he, as well, the way he goes about things. And I think maybe that worked in Chelsea's favour as well yesterday. The fact that he was never going to be overwhelmed by the occasion in a club world cup final against what the best team in the world everyone was saying he was just you know i can i can do this yeah and scored two two brilliant goals and it just yeah like it's like it's normal it's outstanding to do it on that stage to do it against those players who have been so magnificent psg and basically dominated europe for the year and we've spoken so much about their midfield and everything else and how brilliant some of their players have been And rightly so, but he was the pick of the bunch by an absolute mile last night, was Cole Palmer.

33:05I thought he was absolutely outstanding, wasn't he? I think it really suits him as well, playing on the right, which is where he played under Pochettino. He looks really good there, doesn't he? I think that's definitely his best position. The way he was getting so much space, but the way he was ghosting in. The goal where he did the dummy, pretending he was going to do the overlapping pass and then just cut inside. I mean, I think everyone in the stadium bought that one. every one of us and and and then he just he curled it and I mean he's finishing as well he just passed the ball into the into the back of the net but he's not doing it from 12 yards he's doing it from like the edge of the box and and he was he was very close with one earlier on wasn't he in the first few minutes that just caught the tight kind of side netting but what a footballer and and and we've got to talk about the trophy list at the end

33:58Chelsea for FIFA Club World Cup champions Donald Trump giving him a chance he didn't want to leave and Cole Palmer Cole Palmer being Cole he absolutely does not give a fuck does he Cole Palmer I love him for it and you can see him just going what's he doing why's he still here what game what's he doing President of the United States. I think Infantino tried to pull him out at one point. He did. He wanted to be involved. He wanted to be involved but then he sort of got pushed back didn't he? Disappeared. I can see why Cole had the hump a little bit because Trump was right in front of him. So in all the images that you'll ever see of them jumping up and down you can't see Cole Palmer because he's hidden and I think Cole's thinking it's game.

34:51I mean, fair enough. Trump is a master, whether you like him or not, whether you like him or not, he is a master of attracting attention to himself because it became all about him, didn't it? He stole the show. He stole the show. And he stole Paul Palmer's show and it was definitely Palmer's show. That's it for today's episode. It's now less than a month before the domestic season kicks off again as the football continues to come thick and fast.
