0:28This is The Run Through. I'm Chloe Mao. dialing in like Charlie from Charlie's Angels from London. Choma, did you see anything from across the pond? No, you know, this is my educational moment. I know, we like this. So I'm very excited to hear everything. No, this is what's fun when Choma joins. She's like, oh, I saw Jennifer Lawrence. I mean, I saw the red carpet. Had flowers and nothing else on. I can't, I mean, it's literally on in the middle of the night. No, no, I know what I'm saying. This is a valuable part of the interaction is like informing Choma of what she missed. What did you what was on your feed this morning?

1:06What was the buzz in the British folk offices? I felt like Selena Gomez. Selena Gomez as far as red carpet fashion in Chanel. And everybody was just talking about how good the carpet looked this year. Like everybody was look very grown up and very chic. And the actual carpet, which looked like the Met Gala steps. Yeah, it did. I mean, because you had all these angles. So it was quite, yeah. So yeah, it looked, from a red carpet fashion perspective, we woke up to some lovely fashion. It's so interesting that Selena was your number one. I thought she looked so fabulous. And it felt like a coup for Mathieu's Chanel.

1:49It felt like a really big high wattage moment. I really had a lot of questions about those sort of, I don't know, what would you call them? They're not feathers, right, Christian? Yeah, they are feathers. They are feathers? Feathers, organza. Apparently it took over 300 hours to put them on the dress, which is a lot of waivers. Well, they look ticklish. It would have stressed me out. Right near the armpits, too. Exactly. You're tickling your armpits all night. She looked great, though. The things we do for fashion. Yeah. No, I thought her hair looked great. I also like that Benny was dripping.

2:24He had a beautiful pendant on and a brooch. He was like, Selena can wear the feathers, but I will wear the diamonds.

2:34There's a lot of brooch talk, actually. So much brooch talk. A lot. Coleman Domingo had like 10 ,000 brooches on. Were those brooches? Yeah, they were all Boucheron brooches. Oh, I thought it was like embroidered. Oh, yes, he did say that in his interview. You're right. I somehow thought that was part of the Valentino situation. Yeah, he really went with it. A lot of men and brooches. There must have been a security guard waiting in the wings just for those brooches. That would be a good diary, actually. The golden, like the award season. Security vet. Diamond security team. On brooch watch. On brooch watch.

3:07And one of those things hits the carpet and you really got to like, you know, scoop it up. Oh, yeah. Yeah, Coleman looked great. He always looks great. He's the best dressed man in Hollywood, you know, forever. And I love how much he loves it. Like he just said to him in his interview last night on E! He was like, I love getting dressed and I love throwing parties. I was like, you know what? Good for Coleman. Life goals. Life goals right there. All right, Chama, what else? I mean, there was so much. I loved charlie xcx's a beautiful salarone look which was also kind of textured so I guess texture and black and white were a big theme for the night texture yeah yeah I mean I guess some people are calling it hairy but um I think I'd like to call it textured it was feathers it was feathers too uh she looked incredible and then I thought odessa azion also in a textured I never usually love all black but she looked incredible in vintage dolce and I think it's hard to do pants on the red carpet she just looked cool effortless and gorge like i'd love to see a newbie on the red carpet really kind of own it she looked like herself which i thought was fab she has no stylist either which i love she's all she has no style no it's all her obsessed with her officially obsessed yeah she looked in she looked incredible and i mean we also saw some great there was also like Amal in in vintage Balmain so some always love to see some vintage on the red carpet so that was great and and in addition to Odessa's and then I thought Emma Stone looked quite incredible in that butter yellow um Vuitton right was Vuitton yeah bearing the abs yeah bearing the abs it looked great with her hair I thought the glam I thought the hair everybody had this great there was a lot of bob action I thought Io's hair was great I thought Selena's hair was great this kind of like old school bob and then those very old school hollywood waves that charlie xcx was really great too it was a good night for glam waves i would say wasn't it yeah glam waves we love the glam waves tessa thompson also looked incredible and oh i loved her balenciaga sort of fish scale we're very into mermaids in my house and that was giving like mermaid award season in the best way yeah i just thought everybody sort of let the let the dress do the talking and the hair was nobody overdid it with accessories or with hair it was very kind of easy which i which i thought was great um so lots of wins i thought um and the and the guys look great too we've been saying past couple years great great great male flair the men give them a run for their money i gotta say when we were doing best dress last night i had at one point more men than women which is Who did you like, though?

5:54I mean, I really loved Owen Cooper. I know he's like 16 years old. Oh, yeah, so did Anna. Anna emailed to make sure he was in our best dresses. Yeah, my God. I was like, this is a child. The like monochrome woven belt in the like Bottega jacket, though. I mean, it looked good on the red carpet board. He's like moving up to the, I just thought, I sort of, my heart broke for the 16-year-old who has to dress for the Golden Globes. It was a cool take on suiting Taylor. Oh, he killed. I mean, he was great. Everyone was adoring him. I also liked when, was it Stephen Graham was giving his acceptance speech and Owen was filming it on his phone, standing up and filming the whole thing.

6:29It was like such Gen Alpha energy. It was great. It was great. Gen Alpha. Considering that the night started with like two 74-year-olds back-to-back winning with Stellan Starsgård, which I love. I mean, he looked fabulous, I thought, actually. Our favorite Nepo daddy. Yeah. Yeah. And then Gene Smart from Hacks, back-to-back. I sat next to him at dinner and he was so charming. Wait, Stellan or Owen Cooper? Stellan. Stellan. Everyone knew she meant Stellan. Very charming Nepo daddy. He looked great. He had no tie on, but he really, like, pulled that look off. I was like, props to Stellan Starsky.

7:06Second Golden Globe. He also won for that HBO series Chernobyl in 2020, which was great, actually. Like, totally terrifying watch, but he was great in it. Digression.

7:17Christian had one of the big news scoops of the night I was very excited about. and the internet agrees with me. Woonmi Masaku, who is really, to me, the breakout star of Sinners, and is someone I'm really excited to see what she does on the red carpet this awards season. She revealed her pregnancy with Christian Allaire. Yeah, she looked so beautiful. She looked like an ethereal sun goddess. She was wearing this diaphanous dress by Matthew Riesman. Christian, why did she tell you she wanted to reveal her pregnancy on the red carpet? Yeah, well, she wrote a beautiful piece for us on Vogue, so go read it if you haven't.

7:57And she kind of was talking about feeling conflicted about announcing her pregnancy at the Globes. You know, on one hand, in Nigerian culture, I guess it's very, you don't really announce your pregnancy until you give birth. Or she said she was like a little superstitious about it. Yeah, it's like Judaism. You don't want to jinx it. But she also felt like she wanted to celebrate herself and all of the success that Sinners has had. And I guess her way of doing that was to sort of bring her baby along with her in a way that everyone could see, quite literally, because she's been keeping it a secret.

8:29So it just felt like sort of a reclamation of, you know, people have been commenting on her body this award season and speculating if she's pregnant, has she gained weight? And she really felt like she wanted to reclaim that moment and celebrate herself. So I loved that. And she looked beautiful. That yellow color really made her shine. And yeah, I just thought it was such a good moment. It's interesting that she chose to wear yellow, because as soon as I saw it, I thought of Ashun, the Yoruba goddess, because yellow is very much associated with it. And it's a color that Beyoncé has used as well to reference Ashun.

9:02And I don't know if that's what she was thinking, but just given her Yoruba heritage... Yes, she said it was... The saying was, mother is golden in Yoruba. So that's why she wanted to wear yellow. Oh, that's amazing. That's amazing, yeah. Choma, I'm not sure if you saw, but the major, a major red carpet gasp delight for the Vogue Golden Globes chat was Tiana Taylor's. Oh, the butt crack. The bejeweled. The bijou thong. Whale tail. Scaparowy. I loved it. She is so sassy. She just does what she wants and it works so well for her. She owns it. I love Tiana. I love Tiana. I think she really has fun with red carpet fashion in a way that I think few people do.

9:52She takes risks. That's why she wears the likes of Tom Brown and Schiaparelli, because I think she can own it. It never kind of feels like the dress takes over, because she just commands such—she commands the entire, you know, the whole room. She just takes over. I think it was custom Schiaparelli. Yes, apparently she designed it herself with him. It was a collaboration. So the thong was probably her idea. Let's be real. Well, I thought the thong, I mean, Hannah Jackson did predict that 2026 was going to be the year of the butt crack based on McQueen's Bomsters. And Zoe Kravitz and Hailey Beaver have had sort of several crack moments recently.

10:38Much talk about SEO in this trend in the Vogue offices. One of the key words. It does feel like a continuation of sort of the naked trend, like sort of, I guess, evolution. One step further. But I also, to me, this was very cheeky.

10:58Because you do always have sort of big satin bows on the back of dresses. And this was like, I'll show you an unholy bow. Unholy bow. She was so good from the podium, too, winning her award. Yeah, she really was. It was so sincere. I think there's no stopping her at the Oscars now for support. Ooh, hot take. She was so charming and so like, you know, I don't know, just everyone's rooting for her. And also, I mean, I just urge people to see this movie, 1001, that she was in like a few years ago, which to me was her real acting breakout. Brilliant. If you liked her in one battle after another, you should seek out 1001 because it's just like such a beautiful movie.

11:40and she has a lead role in it and it really convinces you that she's like you know uh formidable actress so um i 100 agree that film just took my breath away i thought she was so great and i and i i'm so happy that paul i'm sure paul anderson spotted her in that movie and just thought oh my god i need we need to have we need to cast her immediately she is yeah she's she's a force in that in that film it's such a good it's such a great movie i should actually Rico and watch it again. I loved it when I saw it. Christian, you had one of the biggest breakouts of the night. Oh, I know what you're going to say.

12:17Tell us about the two people who everyone was watching. Well, everyone was tuning in for the heated rivalry boys. We know this. Hudson Williams, Connor Story. They looked amazing. Connor wore Saint Laurent, Hudson wore Armani. I just thought they did like classic suiting, but in a really cool modern way, like not too stuffy, not too traditional, it felt young, it felt hip. It's just funny to see all the celebrities fangirl over them, too. They are celebrities to celebrities. I always find that funny. And their presenting bit was really funny of them needing these big UFC fighters as added security to keep them safe from all the crazed fans in the crowd.

12:56Was that what that was? I totally didn't get that. I had to take a sec to understand the bit. I was like, who is this person? There were all these UFC fighters and they were gone. Immediately. It was wild. But they looked great, and I think they're going to have, like, staying power. I don't think they're going to be a flash in the pan. Just based on their fashion, I think. First time I saw Connor's story, I thought he was somber. I mean, different hair color, but sure. But these, like, elongated, super skinny, like, handsome young men, they're proliferating. They're popping up. They're proliferating.

13:27Jacob Elordi sort of looks like somber, too. Everyone looks like somber. Great. That's the headline of this. Everyone's somber. Was somber even there? I don't even think poor somber was there. Exactly. All right. Let's move on to any fashion trends or moments. We did do a piece on brights because there were these really strong jewel tones we saw from Chase, Suey Wonders, who looked amazing in this sort of old school strapless Balenciaga dress, to Rose Byrne, who wore this clover green Chanel dress. But I also felt like, and this continued throughout the awards season, throughout the evening with the presenters, it was so much black and white and red.

14:13So I feel like we could do a black, white, and red and all over. I loved the color, though. I feel like the past few years, awards season, there's been no color. It's been so drab sometimes. And I really, it felt like an explosion of colors, maybe a little bit too much, but I loved it. It just was like a breath of fresh air for the past few years, from the past few years. Taylor didn't like my black, white, and red all over. Well, you sort of missed it. You said, you know. I liked it. And it read, oh, you need to do it again. I was like, I was like really, really expecting the delivery to be seamless.

14:45I was not. And so I did wonder, what's black, white, and red all over? Well, the Wuthering Heights wardrobe, just a complete segue to another thing, is exactly that. So maybe they anticipated this.

15:03I love when I delight Shoma with a bun.

15:09The Wuthering Heights costumes, we can discuss more in headlines, but they are so fab. And I loved Radhika's piece about that. I'm like, just checking, this movie has not come out yet. I know. I saw it and it was fab. I saw a screening for it. Oh, you went? Chloe Shoma went last week. I'm so excited. get ready get ready guys anyway i digress i know we like everybody here at uh the run through but were there any like moments you thought were a little like we're missed i feel like it has become a real it has become very safe i will say like everybody looked perfectly perfect and i do miss those moments that we don't and we say this i guess again and again you know you know bjork and the swan or whatever it is like a kind of a a sort of like out there i just came with the clothes i had moment and i'd love to hear that odessa didn't have a stylist but that's so rare you know literally that never happens anymore but i do think just having one of those wild kind of oh is it good is it bad is it crazy is what's sometimes missing or even like Jeremy Strong kind of thing where it's like, you know, individuality.

16:25Individuality. I mean, Tiana really, I think that's why we all reacted so strongly to Tiana. It was like, it felt like her. And that is fun to see. So I don't get to complain about John Krasinski and his like intellectual turtleneck grad student era. Like that you can do. Yeah, I didn't like that. I was like, come on, John. He's a totally handsome guy. Every time he stood up to let someone go by, he was like in his glasses and his like, you know, I was like, you're not a PhD student, John Krasinski. He could be. He went to brown. Seriously? Yeah. He was like a year above us. That makes it so much worse, though.

16:58And one more, like, menswear shout out. Snoop looks so good. Snoop is forever. Yeah, Snoop looks amazing. He was the only one in double-breasted that I thought looked good. I thought all the other double-breasted tuxes were a little much. Like, Noah Wiley's double-breasted tux did not work for me. Sort of like a brown, quite wide. You don't like brown on the red carpet? I don't like the double-breasted thing. I'm not sure. But then I saw Snoop and I was like, oh, he understands how to rock sunglasses, which were weird. There were a lot of sunglasses. But on Snoop, it seemed perfect. And he knows how to do the double breast thing.

17:27He was wearing Talia Coles. Okay. Can we talk about Nikki Glaser? We can. And we shall. I mean, watching that opening monologue, I was like, she's going to be like the Billy Crystal of the Golden Globes. Like, she's going to have this job for the next 10 years. She's so fun. She's so self-assured. And like the humor is like it's more barbed than you think when you're listening to it. You know, like when she said when she was like wicked for money, I was like, so good. Also, the Barry Weiss CBS jokes were really funny. The also the White Lotus joke about first time that incest have been in mainstream culture since Property Brothers season six.

18:06I was like, this is a really good joke writing. the one moment I was kind of annoyed with her was when she started singing that musical number but then Fran Drescher cut her off I was like yes thank God but it was part of the bit she was great yeah she was great she looked great and like I love all the costume changes and sort of like this is where this is where stand-up comedy really wins you know at the Golden Globes Wanda Sykes was so funny doing her bit and she was like doing all the you know comedians and oh the Hans Zimmer thing was funny too she was like I keep on making movies with soundtracks that go like, bong.

18:42It's like so goofy. But she's really funny in the rock, paper, scissors joke with the rock. Sometimes simple is better, you know. I realize I'm just like reeling off the jokes that she said, but she was like, she was a total delight. That's what you want. I love that.

18:58We're going to take a quick break. When we come back, we are going to talk about all of the wind snubs and moments you shouldn't have missed.

19:35Thank you.

19:55And we're back. Okay. Let's talk about some of the biggest wins of the night. I want to say how happy I was that K-pop Demon Hunters got the love that it deserved. That's where you're going to start? The juggernaut that is K-pop Demon Hunters? Did it win for the music? It won for the song, obviously. Like, thank goodness. I mean, Golden is like the only song that anyone cares about from that set. And it won for Best Animated Feature. I mean, speak for yourself. I love Soda Pop, too. Oh, no, no. I love all the songs from K-pop Demon Hunters. I was talking about the other nominees. Like, are you up on the Avatar song?

20:37I'm not, no. Yeah, exactly. I love Miley. Don't shade Miley. But I actually don't know that song. Yeah, not at all. Yeah, so K-pop Demon Hunter did really well. I think those two categories this in are a layup and it scored. But I mean, it's like one battle after another kind of like confirmation, right? Like I think there's very little stopping that movie from performing just as well on Oscars night as it did last night. With a couple of exceptions. Like, I think Hamnet winning, you know. You didn't expect that? No, I sort of did. I wondered how award season was going to properly reward Sinners, which is, to my mind, not like a great movie, but a movie that people really loved and did extremely well.

21:22And I just wondered if something funny might be afoot in that category because Sinners was in it. But Hamnet is like, it's like a real award season movie, but it's also like extremely good, you know. Chloe Zhao seems very surprised she won. Yes, yes. There was a lot of people like performing excitement. I'm not suggesting that Chloe Zhao was not surprised. I think she was surprised. Well, I know she was like completely paralyzed with surprise. And, you know, Steven Spielberg had to be like, now you have to go up to the stage to accept your award. Get on stage, girl. Yeah, exactly. But then when she got up on stage and got in front of the microphone, she had like a totally fluent, you know, acceptance where she like quoted this inspirational thing that Paul Askell had said to her like verbatim.

22:08Yeah. You know, she didn't stumble over any of the words, you know. And anyway, I love Chloe Giles. So I was very, very happy for her. But yeah, I think that one, one battle after another is definitely the front runner heading into Oscars. And, you know, let's see what happens with Hamnet, too. I want to talk about Marty Supreme situation. Was Timmy the only person who won for Marty Supreme? Timmy was the only person who won for Marty Supreme. Okay. That seemed like a surprise, right? Well, I mean, yeah, he's up against Leo DiCaprio for Battle. And, you know, that performance was really fun in that movie.

22:41But I don't know. I think there's nobody beating Timothy Chalamet. No, I think he's going to get the Oscar, don't you? Yeah, I mean. He's sweeping so far. I think it's the perfect role for him. His performance was really spellbinding for me anyway. I think it was impossible not to sort of love his crazy character. I thought it was brilliant. It's one of those things where it's like a good movie with a really great performance driving it. I think he was by far and away the reason to see that movie, Marty Supreme, and the best thing about it. But he also, the like slightly escalating Kylie shout outs from the podium are going to be like irresistible to Oscar voters.

23:28What is he going to say at the Oscars? It's a proposal, right? It's all working out. He's like, you're my foundation, which I, like some other people on staff, thought he was talking about his charitable foundation. You and Amanda Seyfried. Turns out like maybe he doesn't have a charitable foundation. He does not. He needs to start on clearly. My partner, I love you. He said, I love you from the podium. So then it's just like, you know, let's make a life together and have a baby. He teased wanting to have a baby in the faux cover story, too. Oh, my goodness. Maybe he's just going to maybe he's going to make the Oscars a moment to actually propose.

24:00What happens if that happens? He knows what he's doing. This is what I'm saying. He's like, this is he missed on the whole Bob Dylan campaign. You know, like the man learned how to sing exactly like Bob Dylan and like got almost nothing for it. in the end, you know? I never watched that film, though. Did anyone see it? I loved it. I just couldn't bring myself to see it. It was a fun night. The costume design in that movie was insane. Yeah. In the best way. I mean, it's not a great movie, but, like, a totally enjoyable one, you know? But I do love Kylie, this awards season, just living her best life in the audience.

24:33She looked great. What was she wearing again? What was she wearing, guys? Something random, but... She skipped the carpet. She skipped the carpet, but did, like, this dramatic, slow-motion Instagram reveal, she was like, I don't need the red carpet. I don't need your best dress lists. I just need Instagram. She wore Ashie Studio. Oh. Very interesting choice. Okay. Saudi Arabian designer. But seeing her just live her best life, she's always like having the most fun in the crowd. Like you can tell it's like not really her environment, but I think she's just going with it. I like, I love this for her.

25:05And I do think she's still using Elizabeth, are we, are we agreed that she's still using Elizabeth Harley as the template for her start. For sure. It feels like... It just feels like she's... I mean, love, love. I think it's a really great reference for her. But she is using like, my boyfriend is the hottest thing in Hollywood wardrobe. Like, I'm having the best time. I'm here to look fab and nothing else. Which is kind of unashamedly, unabashedly, like, unapologetically so. Like, she's just zoning it. So real. That's reference. I think so. Yeah. Okay. I was just, I just wanted to confirm my hunch.

25:44I just wanted you all to confirm that I'm right. You know, a little bit of validation. I don't think Hugh Grant would have ever called Elizabeth Hurley his foundation, though. No, I know. You're right. It was more fun back then. We didn't worry about having foundations, you know?

26:05The run-through will be back in just a moment.

26:17Right now, in movies, in the opera, even in pop music, divinely inspired women are everywhere. This week on Critics at Large, we make our case. Saints are having a moment. Look, I can spout off any number of cliches, but they're all true. The world is moving faster and faster. and materialism is now reaching every single corner of the globe, it's very hard to say no and to say stop and to say I will do without. And I think that explains some of the modern cultural appeal. I'm Vincent Cunningham. Join me and my co-hosts on Critics at Large from The New Yorker. Find us every Thursday, wherever you get your podcasts.

27:02Speaking of inevitabilities, I think Jessie Buckley is your other Oscar inevitable. Hell yeah, our British Vogue cover star. Yeah. She was great. I love that story too, Gemma. Well done. That's a great feature. It's great, right? I know. I mean, Hayley killed it. Hayley did a really good job. Hayley Maitland wrote the British Vogue cover story and did an excellent job. She did. She did. And actually, you got sight of Jesse's partner at this award show. He was there. Enjoying the free drinks and canapes. So fun. Yeah, I love that. I love that. The rare sighting of her partner. She's a mental health worker.

27:39She's so charming. And I loved at the end when it won where they were all standing on stage and she was with the little boy and they had the exact same haircut. Or her shouting out the Polish grip who was making soup. That was one of my favorite moments of the whole awards was everyone shouting out people working on set. There was a lot of thanking the AD, thanking the Grips, thanking the crew, a lot of crew shouts. I mean, I think Golden Globes delivered in being this place where acceptance speeches are, you know, a little more unpredictable, funnier, you know, a little off the cuff. Like it's also the other thing I love about Golden Globes, which I was reminded of last night is, you know, sometimes it's critiqued for having the like musical comedy category and the drama category, which is a little like, you know, just I guess a more is more kind of opportunistic thing.

28:28But because of that, you don't just have Jesse Buckley, who's such an inevitable. You have like Rose Byrne coming out of nowhere and winning for this like really cool indie, If I Had Legs, I Kick You. and she gets up on at the microphone and she's totally charming and she has she she talks about how her husband Bobby Cannavale is not there tonight because he's at a like what lizard expo bearded dragon yeah getting a bearded dragon for the family I mean you just gotta love the Golden Globes for stuff like that it is wackadoodle isn't it crazy to think that just was it like five years ago that the Golden Globes is on the brink of extinction totally and we were all so snobby about it we were like good riddance you know but like thank goodness we have it back And I questioned some of the production choices, which are sort of wacky.

29:10The music, the walk-up music for the people. Oh, no, that was fab. I was really into the walk-up music. Apatow playing for Judd Apatow, I delighted in. Oh, wait, what was playing for him? It was like, Apatow, Apatow, Apatow. The Bruno Mars song. Shout out Bruno Mars. Judd Apatow really made the most of his time at the microphone, though. I was like, are you still going, Judd Apatow? Charming guy, but my goodness. It was a big night for adolescents, guys. Like, I felt like the thing that I really liked about adolescents. Yes. I have to say, British, British, British. It did feel like a British big, big Brit night.

29:46Yeah. When like Erin Doherty is up on stage getting a Golden Globe, you're like, and she's shouting out therapists. I was like, this is great. We're going deep on the British actor bench. It was fun. I know. Feeling very proud of it. And we love Stephen Graham. His wife towering above him. Sort of a Nick and Priyanka moment. there was there was a few of those a few of those yeah fanning and gus wanner um chelma were you excited that noah wiley won i know that you're ecstatic newly converted i'd rarely get pulled into a new show i just rarely do and especially not anything as hard hitting as the pit i'm usually like oh i can handle it emily in paris season six i'm in and suddenly I'm like, oh my God, I'm just like, I'm gripped.

30:32I'm totally in it. I watched five episodes on the plane and yeah. It was so charming that he walked right by, Noah Wiley walked right by George Clooney too. And they hugged. I know. It's like, God, you gotta love that. Noah Wiley's career sort of like was up and then no one had heard of him for a long time and he comes back and it's so triumphant. I'm sorry I didn't like his suit because I was really happy to see him up there. Yeah, K-pop demon hunt just was a big moment for me when the three of them were on the red carpet it in their sort of cuckoo, black and white looks, I made Alice run out of her bath to come see them because she was so excited.

31:05And she was like, which one is roomy? And I was like, I honestly don't know. Well, the singer who won for the best song who came up and almost had a nervous breakdown on stage, but was so like, you know, I washed out as a K-pop star. They told me I couldn't make it. Oh, yeah. And then the other songwriter kept like jumping in and grabbing the mic and talking. I was like, no, dude, you need to stay where you are and let this like towering, you know, So K-pop singer have her moment. What else did you like, Chloe? Did you like Julia Roberts at the end? Were you still awake at that point? I was. I love Julia Roberts.

31:34She can get away with whatever she wants. It went a little long for me. But she was like, guys, have you seen Sorry, baby? I know. That was so charming. It was charming. It was a little bit like mom talk. Yeah, but she did mom talk. I'm just doing this great movie. Yeah, totally. Yes, but I appreciate that. Eva Victor is a friend of the pod, though, right? Yeah, there you go. See? There you go. Eva Victor, friend of the pod. She looks chic. We love her and her Loewe, her bright red Loewe. Christian, were there any, if you had to do like a stylist ranking of the night or anyone who like really stood out, I feel like Danielle Goldberg had.

32:05I was just going to say. Ayo, Ava Victor, and Jessie Buckley. I thought that Kate Young did a great job with Rose Byrne. I thought she looked really fresh and chic. But Wayman and Mika, yes, for anyone they do, I feel like are always a standout for awards season. Yeah, Coleman looked fab. They did like five or six people, their rep told me last night. So they styled a lot of people last night. Wow. Yeah. So they're always good. And Jason Bolden did Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan, who I thought both looked great. Chris Horan with Charlie, I feel, is always cool and interesting. Yeah, that was very cool.

32:38That was beautiful. Taylor, I want to know what you feel like were snubs or misses. I mean, for me, it's sentimental value. Like, I confess I haven't seen The Secret Agent, but I'm a little dismayed that The Secret Agent seems to be kind of riding high on the non-English language film front because I just thought Cinema Valley was one of the most beautiful movies of the year I saw. So I'm sort of, you know, a little bit low-key bummed about that. But mostly it just seems like, you know, this is a year where solid films, Hamnet, One Battle After Another, and Marty Supreme, movies like that, are, you know, kind of getting their due and they're spreading the love around.

33:14One award show after another. One award show after another. Can I remember? Does anyone understand why the Golden Globes decided to honor podcasts this year? No, I would love to understand that. That was completely confusing to me. I guess that's a new meat popular medium. I don't know. I guess so. It seemed like weirdly pandering. But then at the same time, I was kind of like, you're pandering by like adding podcasts, you know? I know. It did seem interesting. Why now? But I did like the fact that Amy Poehler won. Love her podcast. and thereby beating... Her Jeremy Strong bit was very funny. It was very, very funny.

33:48Thereby beating Will Arnett's Smartless podcast. Yeah, exactly. You know, but they seem to be very friendly. So like, I don't need to stir up any trouble there. Yeah, exactly. Jason Bateman was funny doing his bit of her... They were great. I did think The White Lotus was a little snubbed. Like, I know we kind of have moved on and it feels like it came out five years ago, but I know... Was Mike White there? I think I saw him in the audience, Mike White. Wallen Goggins was definitely there. Oh, he was there. I did not love his look, per se, but like... Sang-a-rot. That man looks great. Parker Posey, I feel like, should have won.

34:19Just gonna say that. She's in her, like, grand damn era, you know? And she looks incredible, so... Nobody does that rich, entitled woman like Parker Posey. Well, I mean, that's a good shout-out to Choma's point of people actually taking risks and being true to themselves. Like, Parker Posey... Took a risk. She does her. And you know what? I just respect that. Me too. I was sad. We loved Amanda Seyfried, our most recent cover star in Anne Lee, Testament of Anne Lee. And I thought she looked great last night in Versace. And I would have loved to see her get some love. Yeah, that's right. That's right.

34:54She looked amazing, actually. She looked amazing. I also couldn't believe that Zootopia 2 got completely shut out. Are you serious? Yes. It's a great film. It's a great reaction. You divided loyalty to me. You were just like two seconds ago being like, K-pop Demon Hunter is finally getting all the love it needs. You need to get out more.

35:18No, I'll have you know that Chloe Ma was at the movie theater to see Zootopia 2. Let us all know, because she was like an all-hand slack, guys, I am offline for the next two and a half hours. Don't bother me.

35:35I also, it's always a little sad to me when George Clooney doesn't win, but I did like him speaking French. Have you seen Jay Kelly? I like Jay Kelly. I knew you would like Jay Kelly. That's great. Yeah. No hate on Jay Kelly. I didn't really like Jay Kelly. He's had enough love award season in his life. I think he's good. He can be on the bench for a minute. I mean, I actually felt a little for Leo. I was like, that's a great performance in One Battle After Another. That I will agree with because I do think it was great and I usually am so... I don't know. I mean, I find it hard to love Leo these days, but I loved him in that movie.

36:12I agree, Chama. Like, he was genuinely funny, you know? And I really like when he does a little, like, comedy in his performances. And I just found that was my favorite Leo performance in as long as I can remember, you know? Same, same. And he's so, like, self-possessed at war shows like this. Like, you know, he laughs when he gets ribbed having the, like, younger girlfriend. And he's, like, good-natured about everything. And he looks good. And he's just like, I was like, I like my old stars. great um just back to zootopia i did god to be kidding i did think it was interesting that um someone mentioned that the top grossing films of 2025 were animated i'm just saying true for like the last 20 years has kids once goes to see animated movies that's when like 10 years ago i was like taylor you know what everyone's having dinner parties taylor's like you get married turn 30 and suddenly you realize people go to dinner parties like bars are out dinner parties are in

37:17yes yes animated movies make a lot of money they also take a long time to make though which was oh my god k-pop demon hunters there won't be another one for four years until 2029 that's crazy it's insane how am i gonna wait for roomie that long uh roomie's revenge totally my kids will be like wizened you know 20 year olds by that point they'll be like dating leo they'll be like i'm not watching this dad that was a good joke rude rude for vivian i also i was just looking i saw that uh wagner mora was wearing tabbies on the red carpet which i love a tabby we love uh we love a tabby red carpet moment um but i think maybe we can end on a freaky shoe um choma any any final thoughts i did have one last shout out because i always love it when the independent designers kind of break through and i know you mentioned uh wumi um but jenna ortega wore delara findacoglu and looked fabulous and she's a wonderful and delara just won a british fashion award so it's a big year for her a knock war um delara to the fashion awards too so i was really i was really excited to see to see her have her moment because it is really tough for an independent designer to get a look in on the red carpet just because all of these actors as we know have contracts with these big houses and are locked in so there's very little wiggle room for for the indies to get a look in so always good to see a british designer shine on the red carpet and i i think there was a um a palestinian actor who took to the red carpet that wonderful movie that the voice of him yeah um yeah carrie did a lovely piece on that yeah and i thought it was a she wore a dress this really beautiful black dress that sort of nodded to her palestinian heritage and i think the designer was reema deborre i think they're actually Jordanian but maybe Palestinian and Jordanian.

39:19Anyway, I thought it was it's always great when I'm discovering new designers on the red carpet. That's always something. It's rare. And I was first intrigued by the dress and then discovered it was a Palestinian Jordanian designer. So I thought it was really very chic. All right. Bye, Toma. Go charge your computer. Bye. Heading straight to tech support.

The time has come for The Run-Through’s annual Golden Globes recap—and let’s just say, this one delivered. Not only did friend of the podcast Nikki Glaser return to the stage as the hostess with the mostest (with jokes Vogue deputy editor Taylor Antrim couldn’t get enough of), but we were also treated to a truly cheeky look from Teyana Taylor (Vogue predicts: the Year of the Buttcrack is officially here) and a standout awards-season red carpet debut from two of the most talked-about boys of the moment, Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie of Heated Rivalry.

Reporting early to share highlights from the night, Chloe, Chioma, deputy editor Taylor Antrim, and senior fashion and style writer Christian Allaire broke down the looks that won the evening. Bright colors emerged as a surprising trend, with Wunmi Mosaku’s bold yellow look—paired with a pregnancy reveal—standing out as a major highlight. Other memorable moments included Odessa A’zion in self-styled archival Dolce & Gabbana, Tessa Thompson in Balenciaga (serving real mermaid vibes, according to Chloe), and Colman Domingo in Valentino, complete with an abundance of brooches.

The group wrapped up by sharing their favorite wins of the night, with unanimous agreement that One Battle After Another is likely to be a frontrunner heading into the Oscars—and that Timothée Chalamet is a shoo-in for Best Actor. Plus, Chloe makes the case for why Zootopia 2 deserved a little more love. Listen to our full recap below.
