In short
Bitcoin’s role as a “parallel system” versus Wall Street/state capture; how Bitcoin culture is being diluted by libertarians, banks, and corporate “pipes”/financial products; and why the next generation should respond with entrepreneurship rather than nihilism (“start a lemonade stand”).
Guests (backgrounds)
- Danny (What Bitcoin Did): host; long-running Bitcoin commentator.
- Jenseth (American HODL): Bitcoin since 2011; runs a garbage-can cleaning business (“Washer Cam”) and talks about paying/accepting Bitcoin.
- Eric Cason: emphasizes hatred of the state; focuses on narrative loss, trauma, and courage to start businesses despite permitting/risks.
Key claims
- State is predatory and rights are suspended; Bitcoin culture must reclaim core values and parallel-system roots.
- Libertarian “showdown with the state” won’t happen; instead, Bitcoin integrates via custody/ETFs/major finance.
- Bitcoin “wins” by existing and enabling exit/fair opportunity, not by delivering utopian outcomes.
- Generational malaise/trauma makes young people feel incapable; entrepreneurship is the antidote.
Notable examples
Washer Cam garbage-can cleaning paid in Bitcoin; lemonade stands vs permit regimes; references to ETFs/BlackRock custody and “pipes” (ill-fated private placements); discussion of generational political entry (younger Bitcoiners running for Congress).

And our country has gone so deep and so thoroughly into each of our own rights, none of us know what that looks like anymore. What would it mean if we really had community? What would it mean if we were no longer robbed blindly by our own government? It wasn't about right or left anymore, but it was about whether or not we chose to give one another the right to decide what their lives look like. That's why I'm a Bitcoin-er. You think about Bitcoin, it's been 16-ish years, right?
0:48And there's an entire generation now that has grown up with Bitcoin in the conversation somewhere. for their entire lives. Half of America at this point exists with Bitcoin in the conversation for half their lives. And many of those people are going to start running for Congress. Many of those people are going to start becoming politically active. And I think the world for Bitcoin is going to change a lot because Bitcoin is just something that exists.
1:14Let me introduce the panel. Everybody knows these guys at this point. Danny, with What Bitcoin Did, you're over there if you want to come on in. you're on that side uh junezif american hodl where's where's your pops and uh eric case and will be joining us uh in a second i'm sure um but we had uh we're we're gonna get i think slammed a little bit uh we've had a lot of rsbps so just as a note we might need to fill in those ones but Anyway, Danny, it's your show. What do you want to talk about? Well, I think... Daniel. The last time... Oh, last PSA. I have two more PSAs. One, we have some photographers roaming around.
1:58If you don't want to be photographed, there'll be a flash. You can make a note of it. Everything's going to be sent to me. I think I know most of the people that don't want to be published, the Bitcoiners. So there's a safeguard there. But this is a public house. So just as a side note, there will be some photography. Number two, this is a tavern chat. If we use a technical term of art that you don't quite know, if you want to double click on an issue, if you want to ask a question, feel free to interrupt. It makes it way better. This is not supposed to be a panel or a fireside chat. You can yell at us politely.
2:30Anyway, Danny. Okay, let's get going. If you're in the room, welcome to the hour and 30 minute episode. If you're online, enjoy your four or five minutes. This will be an hour and 28 because everything's going to get cut out. Junset, last time we did a What Bitcoin Did Live here, do you remember how we started out the show? Yeah. Peter sang a song. That's not true. No. What song have you got for us? I don't have a song. I don't have a song. I'm glad I prepared it. Can I ask someone to just get Eric Kaysen from the bar and tell him we started? Tell Eric to come back. We'll get his beverage for him.
3:05I want to start with the most bear market vibes thing I've ever heard. Junset, you've been in Bitcoin since 2011. Yeah. Yeah. And you've started cleaning garbage cans. Yeah, well, it's a bear market. So I started a garbage can cleaning company, mainly because everyone needs a garbage can cleaned. Wait, now? I need money. Yeah. Oh, I thought this was 2011. No, I just started it. Oh, okay. I understand. It's called Washer Cam. It seems like a bit, but it's not a bit. Jenseth called me yesterday. Sorry, this morning when he was at the airport. and the first thing he started talking about was these potential contracts he might have for his garbage can business.
3:45Yeah, a lot of people want to have their garbage cans cleaned. Yeah. Yeah, they're really gross. So I'll show up at your house and do that. Well, not your house, unless you're like in Florida. Can you pay in Bitcoin? I'll take Bitcoin, yeah. What the fuck? This is pretty straightforward. Pay me in Bitcoin, yeah. I'll pay your credit card bill and you pay me in Bitcoin. Absolutely. So is this a bear market thing? no i just i think like well we talked last time about uh ai mostly but i think i'm i'm really i really believe that like starting businesses and um and just being productive as a man is something really important and i i i have always resented bitcoiners who got here and either lived in their mom's basement until they got rich or they are still living in their mom's basement hoping to get rich or they're just not rich enough they got to do something and so i i'm always doing stuff and sometimes this stuff is cleaning garbage cans well you got we got a couple HOA right now I think we're up to two HOAs but we got like three or four that we're talking let's go at hodl you know a little thing or two about uh scrapping during a bear market that's true well it is funny because I'll call gents at the minute what do you think about the state of the market like what's going on with I think sailor's going to survive this with stretch and he's like here's the thing man I got uh four people signed up new cans four new cans today every day every day that's how the conversation goes jen set then hold on you are you are both like microsoft strategy fans though do you think so that is going to sometimes are we fans i like it when it goes up and i don't like it when it goes down i'm always confused by microstrategy because like it seems you know like it might go down a lot more all the time but then sometimes it goes up it's very i don't know i never i don't want to criticize him too much because i don't want to get sued oh can i danny already did that he hasn't he hasn't received the papers yet i do think that bitcoiners were a little bit too quick to like get frothy about like this is our sacrifice there's a bit of a satanic streak in bitcoiners waiting for what hero is going to be sacrificed at the altar to resume the bear the bull market uh i don't think that this is that i think you know it probably works itself the math is complicated but i mean i'm sued it clearly love you michael like i think it's very obvious that it's not going to be strategy but i think what is also becoming obvious is a lot of these other treasury companies are doomed i'll say that my portfolio is heavy on them well i will say in retrospect um giving david bailey my money so that he could buy the top and then fly around on a private jet was maybe not the most prudent financial planning i ever did in my life but it felt good at the time i there i love doing it i had just a few bucks in there i think you know you know you know how they got me they got me on fancy jargon they were like hey do you want to get it on the pipe i was like hey what the fuck is a pipe and then and then they were like yo it's a private equity placement some shit bullshit i was like i want in i want to be one of the anointed right and then they were like you're gonna you have to be wall crossed i was like what's that what does that mean and they were like uh yeah you can't you're gonna have material non-public information you can't say anything to anybody.
6:55I was like, that's fancy. That's a secret. I like that. All right, let's do it. And then I gave some money and then I was up like$2 million on paper, but it was all illiquid. And then it all went to zero. So I just want to highlight this is the gayness that we're at in the entire timeline. And now we're talking about TNL and all this gay corporate shit. And Bitcoin was designed so that you can buy guns, drugs, and pornography that is illegal in whatever country you're in. Did not have access to the pipe. So I want this to be like our come to Satoshi moment where we're like, oh, wow, we really went off the deep end there.
7:33I never considered buying guns or drugs with it. Congratulations? Just pornography? You were just in it for the Pokemon cards. What year were you in? A while ago. You were in it for the tech? The articles. Do you think this is just a sign that we have lost our way with Bitcoin culture. Temporarily. I think it's perfect. This is the Trojan horse, in my opinion, and it's a two-way street. Are the cypherpunks going to get fucked over by suit coiners, or are the cypherpunks going to fuck over suit coiners? A lot of cypherpunks plowed into these pipes. They were piping. They really did. And it turns out, when you can be a millionaire and be a cypherpunk, you consider being a millionaire more than being a cypherpunk.
8:23sorry we're like not we're not angels over here i think the culture right now has like really been taken over uh by the worst people in the world libertarians and so like i think i think we're in a wall at the moment where like bruce fenton's in charge of the the culture for a little bit and then eventually we'll get back and maybe uh maybe somebody will rise up and do something interesting like hodl i i do have to agree because libertarians are the most incapable political political group that exists because they just like to they just sit here and they're like of course it's gonna up yeah there's no way this could work it's like well what's your answer it's like don't do anything it's like well this is where we're at I mean it's interesting the libertarians had a dream for Bitcoin and I feel like we've kind of achieved a lot of those dreams but not in the way that the libertarians thought that we would achieve them because like now we have like ETFs and like the big banks have come in and banks are doing the thing that banks do really well, which is, you know, holding things like banks have always been into custody.
9:21That's what they were always about. And for a brief period, we had banks kind of like merging with the state for the last two or 300 years, really merging. But before like banks have no loyalties to the state. What a bank does is it custodies, right? That's what it's always done. That's what they're built for. And they kind of lost their way. And now with Bitcoin, the banks are back custody. And that was always what I thought would happen. But the libertarians are kind of looking at it and they're angry that the big banks have anything to do with this, but it's exactly what they were designed to do.
9:48Yeah, I think the libertarian wet dream of a showdown with the state is not going to come to fruition, at least in the way that many libertarian Bitcoiners were envisioning it would come to fruition. And the showdown with the state looks a lot more like getting politically active and just sort of working within the system, which is unpalatable to a lot of the unwashed libertarian ANCAP friends we have. To be fair, it's kind of unpalatable for me. That's interesting. What's interesting to me is that you think about Bitcoin, it's been 16 years, right? And there's an entire generation now that has grown up with Bitcoin in the conversation somewhere for their entire lives.
10:32And at the same time we have all these boomers who've been in Congress dying. Lindsey Graham being most recent and probably Mitch McConnell going next. Definitely died naturally. He's been dead for three weeks. And then I don't know who I'm going to kill next, but someone's going. But no, there's, you know, so I think the boomers are dying and this new generation is coming up and they're, and like, even, like, not just, it's not just people that have had Bitcoin in the conversation their entire lives. It's people that have had Bitcoin in the conversation for half their lives. You know, like you think about how significant that is.
11:02Like half of, half of America at this point exists with Bitcoin in the conversation for half their lives. and many of those people are going to start running for congress many of those people are going to start uh you know becoming politically active and i think the world for bitcoin is going to change a lot because bitcoin is just something that exists and it makes me worry a little bit about like sort of the placement of shit coins because ethereum also is something that has just existed for a very long time in the in the minds and the lives of these people um in my opinion to not such a high degree of efficacy, but it's just existed.
11:36So I think as we enter kind of the new generation going into Congress and going into, you know, any of these sort of more powerful positions, I think we're going to see a lot of differences with the state, not necessarily co-opting, but the state using Bitcoin and allowing us to use Bitcoin in the way that it's meant to be used, because it's just a thing that now just is. So I agree with that. However, I would say the expression of the Bitcoin culture and the core set of values and the ethos being a little bit more ANCAP, libertarian, libertarians are law-bertarians, like they're like thoroughly feckless as a political organization.
12:15But little L, libertarian, and the expression of that through Bitcoin culture is important because the thing just existing is getting choked out to a certain extent. And you can break it down in a technical frame, an economic frame, and a social political frame. In the economic frame where you mentioned the ETFs and the DATs and things like that, and BlackRock's in and this and that, you still have Jane Street. Jane Street is largely responsible for this crab walk that we've been in, where it'll break down, it'll break up, and it's largely stuck. For a very long time, the marketing department of Bitcoin is number go up, and it has these dramatic comebacks and it's not dead yet.
12:57It was declared dead a million times and it's ripping now. That might have been an effort to actually castrate that value proposition from a marketing standpoint. On the technical side, we have something I don't want to, I know you want to talk about BIP-110, but I don't really have any severe appetite to do that. I just know there's people here that have only come to hear us talk about BIP-110. I know, I know. That's the sign that you're gay. I'm sorry. I love you. not in that way. And then on the social political side, there is a clear push to put Bitcoin alongside Melania coin and to just choke it as much as possible.
13:34It's the same thing, really. So I do think that the expression of Bitcoin culture coming back and restoring its like, fuck you, parallel system roots is important in combating the ways that it can die. I don't think it's a matter of time. A parallel system only exists... insofar as it exists not as in a normative system right like we can't like like the gold bugs those those people that are really into gold they're really weird and they're it's a fucking gay culture it's really not like not really gay you know but like you know uh just like hey like i think about that with a bitcoin like you know you think about like uh you're gonna have like uh you're gonna have like a meetup group about the dollar right like guys are here for like the dollar who here really likes a dollar raise your hand there were these guys you know they do that in jackson hole and elsewhere all the time like a federal reserve meeting there who's here about the dollar excited about the dollar it's really we're here to meet up you know there were these guys that were like internet influencers like influence dollar culture like jared lanier comes to mind and it's like if you were trying to be an internet influencer like let me tell you about the internet today you just seem like the craziest person on earth what do you think about berkshire hathaway like shareholder meeting is they get they get like absolutely like rip and hammered and they talk about dollar yeah they do they love it they really do it's true it looks like fun i've never been peanut brittle you know he's dead now right if you hold bitcoin long enough there's gonna come a time when you need some dollars it might be a tax bill a business expense life getting in the way but whatever it is it might come at a time when you don't want to sell your bitcoin that's where leden comes in leden lets you borrow against your bitcoin instead with tiered rates that go as lowered 9.25%.
15:20So you don't have to sell your stack if you don't want to. Ledin have operated through every market cycle since 2018 and have originated over$11 billion in loans. But the important part for me is the way Ledin handles these loans. Your collateral is held in custody and never lent out to generate interest. And Ledin's more than just loans. Tether Gold is now live alongside your Bitcoin with instant trading across 10 pairs. And later this year, you'll be able to borrow against gold in the same way that you do with Bitcoin. Ledin really is an awesome company. I've used them multiple times. The applications have taken me less than 15 minutes and you have the dollars in your account within hours.
15:54If you want to check out Ledin, go to ledn.io and use the code WBD for 0.25 % off your first loan. That's ledn.io and use the code WBD. Do you want to pay less in taxes and stack more Bitcoin? Of course you do. Well, by mining Bitcoin with Blockware, you can. Under section 168k of the US tax code, Bitcoin mining servers qualify for 100 % bonus depreciation. This means every dollar you spend on miners can directly offset your income in a single year. And it's true for both business owners and W2 earners. So if you have$100 ,000 in ordinary income, you can purchase$100 ,000 in miners and potentially offset your tax liability entirely.
16:32Blockware's mining as a service does all the heavy lifting. They secure the rigs, they source the low-cost power, and they handle all the day-to-day maintenance. So you get to stack Bitcoin every single day while drastically shrinking your tax bill. Get started today at blockwaresolutions.com forward slash WBD and use code WBD for$100 off your first miner. That's blockwaresolutions.com forward slash WBD. If you own a Bitcoin ETF, especially if it's GBTC, you need to listen up. Spot Bitcoin ETFs provide price exposure to Bitcoin, not direct ownership. You can't withdraw it, you can't self-custody it, and they charge you a management fee every year to hold it.
17:07Well, Swan recently announced Swan Real Bitcoin Exchange and it's ready to use right now. RBX is a structured in-kind exchange that converts your spot Bitcoin ETF shares into real on-chain Bitcoin. It does that without selling on the open market and is designed to support a tax-efficient outcome. So for example, if you hold GBTC, you're paying 1.5 % a year in management fees for Bitcoin price exposure. But by swapping GBTC for real Bitcoin with RBX, you can drop that figure as low as 0 % by just holding it in self-custody. This is designed in a way that maintains your cost basis and in a manner that supports the deferral of capital gains tax.
17:43So if you own a Bitcoin ETF, especially if it's GBTC, you need to talk to Swan Private about RBX today. Head over to swan.com forward slash WBD and book in a call with one of their team. That's swan.com forward slash WBD. I want Eric's take on this though, because this is a lot of sort of state cope. And as the person who probably hates the state more than anyone on this stage, like how do you take that in? I do deeply hate the state and like, fuck them. They're assholes. They're pieces of shit. They want to control you. They want to steal you. They're vampires. Love the state. All right, we'll get back to this.
18:20I think all of this is part of a narrative that like Bitcoin has lost its story for a bit because like it turns out that like making a shitload of money is like actually a meaningful thing in our current culture that is deprived of any meaningful way to actually execute your will, desire, and means to actually, like, achieve the thing you want in the world because everything's so fucked because if you're not close to the spigot, you can't actually be rewarded. Bullshit, you could clean trash cans. Well, and not to hate on people. He's close to the spigot. It's just a different spigot. Some people find deep passion in cleaning trash cans, but, like, I'm deeply concerned about the dude who works at CVS who's like, I can't have kids because I make 20 bucks an hour.
19:00There's no escape, and I have no means to escape. Go work at Walgreens. look he's he's struggling can i did anyone here just raise his hand if you'd never known junset before everybody everyone knows john's up everyone that guy doesn't know johnson that guy one everyone truth dollar i i disagree completely i don't i honestly think that like there has never been a better time for kids young people uh middle-aged people to start businesses there's never been a better time to uh particularly with ai and such there's never been a better time to sit there in IDA and think about what you can do to make money and just go out and do it.
19:36And like what's what has been lost in America isn't being close to the spigot. It's a willingness to go to your neighbor and say, hey, I'm selling pop cans. And like nobody wants to do that anymore. When I was when I was a kid, you're you're eight years old, nine years old. You finally like your dad's like, I'll let you mow the lawn. You go do it. You hit 10. He buys you a lawnmower. You go to your neighbors and you start selling seven dollar, you know, mowed lawns. Name a kid that does that. There is cash. it's bullshit so gas is a big thing but we do have that in New York on the subways with like Costco boxes of candy and Showtime and stuff like that there's a bit of an anarcho-tyrannistic thing here where if you're a kid with a lemonade stand in a like high you know upper middle class suburban neighborhood someone's gonna come shut you down fuck the state it happens but if you're you know sort of a Mexican migrant selling oranges by the side of the road then nobody's coming for you because it's politically unpopular to do so but fine like okay someone comes and stops you like who cares you're a kid what are they gonna do the problem is that the parents have all of the trauma like enumerated they do do you understand why we didn't live stream at this point there was some intelligent thought behind this can we talk about racism I have a mango tree in my backyard when my kid's like 7 years old she's going to climb it she's going to take the mangoes and she's going to sit on the corner of the street and sell them to people and that's going to be her first business but this isn't the point because if you try and start a business as an adult you have to have permits you have to ask permission to do everything you want to do so what go get them hey like i want to defend june's other than so far without like i don't like that regime i don't like that regime where there's permits for everything right right you want to become a hair couture well this is about the pussification of america okay so like we've become huge pussies and anytime that we think we're going to be punished we're like oh god the state's gonna come and find me oh no and then we're gonna helicopter parent around our kids and be like no you can't sell mangoes the state could come and punish us it would be terrible yeah as as bitcoiners were like i'm gonna start a centralized exchange and the like state's coming and we're gonna fine you for everything you're worth and they're like we're gonna fine you for ten thousand dollars eric forees and eric's like i made way more than that doing this weird exchange that you know something like that so like you're right like everyone is very scared of the state and you know coming for their fucking lemonade stand but the truth is like i i'm just saying i i disagree with the narrative that it's it's a bad time in america it's a great time like everything everything is great like there's a lot of really shitty things going on if you ignore those everything is great you know the bad shit it's good like it feels like there's a there's a great time just real quick i agree with both of you but as a small business owner with a liquor license i am terrified in terms of like the permits and the responsibility that You wait till the Uber of liquor licenses comes along.
22:28Everybody Uber home. It's fine. Well, it's amazing that you have a business that's accountable to some... It's a quasi-opaque thing that maybe you get a liquor license, maybe you don't. I don't know. Whose dick did you suck this week? No. None that I know of. Did you suck a dick this week? Did you? No, none that I know of. But look, we have a carve-out for the business license, right? And I'm sorry, the BitLicense. so we're able to accept Bitcoin payments. Nobody has done that really at scale in New York City or in D.C. and all the future places that we want to go. We want to bury that so that people can see it.
23:07I really think it's an important point to cross. Like, we have lived in a – and I think that this is true of most of American history, but it's especially true for us. And I think it's true because in the last 50 years, there have been more people born than has ever existed on the face of the earth right we just have this population boom since the war and what has happened is we have lived in a in a country where our rights are suspended the recognized rights are suspended for the majority of our lives like half of the states don't allow you to buy a gun like we argue that the constitution says congress will make no law you know no law which seems very clear and uh and yet they shall not infringe what's that yeah it shall not infringe right so like we've we've got we've got these infringements on all of our rights that have been happening our entire lives and our entire lives we've been watching like people go to the courts and break them down so that's a reality that is exists in america including like the license infrastructure that we've built all over but the reality is that most of these things are not hard to get they're barriers to entry and people can just go start businesses like you want to start a plant nursery go start a plant nursery we're talking about trash cans as opposed to derivative exchanges right like there's a spectrum i i agree with you that like obviously anybody like you you should do what you can where you are with what you have available to you anybody that's like blanket advice right but the you know the sort of state of emergency or like the constant ddos that we live under where we have to you know they're constantly infringing on our constitutional rights and we have to spend our whole life fighting back against the infringement it puts us in a state of suspended animation and then you know like holistically system-wide that's a that's an issue but you as the individual can still say fuck it and like this is a good challenge for me i'm gonna rise above and like who gives a fuck what nancy pelosi thinks i'm just gonna do it i mean i understand like people like danny don't understand the constitutional rights thing well he's british so like he's retarded functionally so like we love him but like he's kind of slow but i i left It is a distinctly American problem.
25:12But Australia, like you can start like as a kid, you can start a business as an adult. You can start a business. And the only reason I care about this is because like there's the sort of palpable insouciance and the palpable sort of like what would you call it? Like malaise that's hitting this generation. Laziness. It's just fucking laziness. They truly believe that they're incapable and that there's nothing that they can do. They can. They can. any of you can well like i i want to point out though like the the problem is is with the trash can analogy is that like the state of that is we actually say trash cans fucking piece of shit to humans and that like they're they're explicitly going after people that are doing innocuous shit and being like hey we're gonna violently hurt you and take away your right to like make money and provide for your family and most people and and like granted we're being fucking pussies i i like accept that but like it's a terrifying thing to be like hey i'd like to start this business but like i don't know if the state's gonna come down like fucking steal my house because of this it just feels fundamental this is anarcho-tyranny it feels fundamentally wrong because the state is powerless to help you you pay into the system the system does fucking nothing for you but it's not powerless to harm you so anytime the state wants to it can come down on you with the full force of the state apparatus for something that is as you know innocuous as a lemonade what is the value of your life are you going to sit there and like wallow or are you going to go out there and get arrested you have to be it's about courage yeah it's about courage but like i i hate to say it but like if you're sitting there wallowing depressed and going to a therapist and telling him you're going to kill yourself you might as well go get arrested go go start a business go do something interesting and like it's it's chances are you're going to be fine because the state doesn't generally focus on like these small little things you hear the occasional stories the reason they're on the news, the reason that they're so big is because they are the exceptions to the rule.
27:08And for the most part, we live in a world where everyone is so myopic. They are focused, the resolution that they have on the news, and the day-to-day is way too high. Sometimes I think about that line in the big short where he goes, look at you guys, you pass yourself off as cynical people, but deep down you believe in the system, right? And I think a lot of us who were Bitcoin maxis during the shitcoin ICO bubble phase, like you know i i believe that the sec was going to come in and crack down and like i knew that this behavior was illegal and i thought they were going to actually enforce it and then what did they do they enforced like fucking four things and then everybody else got away with murder i mean they just absolutely stole raped pillage and now that some of these people are jen mccaleb is like a fucking deck of billionaire he's got his own space station that asshole has scammed more than anybody he fucking scammed with mount gox he scammed with ripple he scammed with stellar the space station is probably a scam everything he does is a fucking scam and nobody ever brings this fucking name up Jeff McClubb I want one more chance with Jed and Dan Larimer like one more company give me the pipe in a world where every single person is going out there and starting these small businesses and the state cannot stop everybody in some sense the wallowing is a chance to DDoS the state if you're really worried about them coming after you for lemonade stands if everybody starts a lemonade stand the state can stop two of them and so like everyone should go out there and start lemonade stands and my only point my only point in saying this is like the wallowing the nihilism that is affecting the current generation that's affecting like a lot of millennials even the younger millennials it's got to stop because all you have to do is walk outside it's not just a touch grass thing you have to start something but like as a man you gotta start something it's true you do have a penis so I just want to remind you of that but like I just want to emphasize the fact that this is Pavlovian conditioning 101 and that we've beaten them from birth.
29:03Why were you conditioned? Why is it that you see that and I don't? Why am I completely immune to that? Well, I'm a pussy. You're a very strange person. That explains your anarchism. He's got Ruby Ridge psychosis. I do. Eric, finish that. I want to know what you were going to say then. No, I think it's really important to integrate the idea of the trauma that we've all accumulated around the idea of that like the state's going to show up and beat the living shit out of us at any point in time that we walk outside of the boundaries. Telling, like, who did you learn that from? That's like in black communities where they tell you the cops are going to shoot you.
29:35I feel like that's the kind of thing that you've been hit with. It is. And like, I want to emphasize this point. Like, the point is, is to push past it and actually take the opportunity to risk yourself to make the opportunity to say, yeah, the state could come here and fucking kill me right now. And fuck them. I fucking hate them. I hate everything they represent. And I'm going to sell my fucking mangoes because people want mangoes. Mangoes are good and they're delicious and they're healthy. So come buy my mangoes. I think it's fun to joke about like, you know, us all being retarded. And I mean, that's true.
30:04We are all retarded. But truly, some of the smartest like people I've met in my generation are here in Bitcoin. But here, not necessarily. But we all, our culture and our society overly prioritizes intelligence. intelligence and it's way better to be uh you know sort of a dumb brave guy than it is to be a smart coward you're retard maxing if you look right right well yeah basically if you look at like nick shirley right nick shirley is dumb as a box of rocks every time i've ever heard that guy talk he's so fucking stupid it's painful to listen to him talk but he's brave and he goes right up and knocks on people's doors it's like hey dude are you stealing money from the state you know like that's what you people need to do just knock on the that's the same thing and start a lemonade stand it's like knock on the door you know that's the theme of tonight start a lemonade stand i don't goes for sale i don't even know where we go from this uh let's open it up for questions and we're going to take a uh a brief intermission in case anybody wants to uh use the restroom or buy some libations but any questions based on what we were just talking about or anything else who's the bravest soul here I think you know speaking to what everybody's been speaking about today so far with the lemonade stand I guess the theme it'll be the next generation it'll be the kids because we're the weak men that good times I don't think your kids get there unless we do it like this is the thing we know that we fucked up so we gotta teach Bitcoin for our generation has been this really interesting thing some people it's made a lot of money some people it's made a little some i know people who like exited when they could afford a house and they they bought a house and they're done but like they're they're proud and they have like they own a house outright and you know on a i don't know a bank of a lake in new york or something like that right there's a lot of people like that but like for our generation that's been a thing an opportunity that many of us have had right And I just think that we now, as fathers, I'm a new father, but as fathers and mothers need to start inculcating this stuff into our kids.
32:19Because if what we do is we take the same sort of nihilism that has been bred in us in the recent past, that's just going to get passed on. It's just going to be like this more discussion of generational trauma. And I think it's time. I think Bitcoiners now, if you have a little extra dough, start something. Do something with it. Go get a job. Get out of your mom's basement. Or stay there and run your business. It sounds like you and Eric are totally agreeing. You're basically both saying just ignore this. It's not possible for anarchists to agree. When anarchists unite, they say, don't tell me what to do.
32:59I think that's a fantastic question. I have concerns on who's going to take up the mantle or the torch on core development. Like the next generation on the economic side, keeping the core values of Bitcoin very near and dear to their heart. Also, the social political side. I think that that's fantastic. We might want to revisit that for the second session. Oh, yeah. They're keeping Bitcoin apolitical in some sense. Who's the next Jenseth or Hondle? American Hondle. I was and now we need a new guy He's investing in pipes He's done
33:37That's his Pepe the Frog game You have lost your edge when you're investing in pipes I had an idea Everybody go buy alcohol or hamburgers The hamburger is really good I had an idea for a business I'm not going to tell you what it was But I pitched Hoddle And Hoddle and I sat down I'm going to tell you what it was it was fixing sewing machines it was live tacos it's all the tacos and we uh we built this whole thing as framework and we got we got to the we started getting like it worked that so that the story is it worked right it's true and we we started getting requests from all over the nation from people asking us to perform a service that i'm not going to mention fixing sewing machines yeah and uh but but then but then we like realized we didn't know how to like finish the job like we don't know how to grab them and ship them but like we got 90 of the way and i'm just saying like like the ai part has helped has helped just like kind of run experiments very quickly that lets you see whether your ideas work and whether your business ideas can like scale and they quickly get you to like failure points yeah jensen told me the idea and then i was like i'm gonna sprint on that and just let ai vibe code the entire thing and then ai vibe coded the entire thing and then uh rear machine we put it yeah i got hacked by the russians and shit and then later somebody else got hacked by the north koreans it may or may not have been uh and then so you can get prompt injected really easy so be careful vibe coding is dangerous but we built this whole website whatever and we put it up on google and it started getting just shitloads of traffic for the people that you know have sewing machines that need fixing that's sorry i wasn't supposed to say the idea but but because i had vibe coded it it was there was like some serious gaps where we were like how is how are we going to ship sewing machines it's like really expensive to do that and then like the sewing machine repair doesn't even cover the shipping we need to like go back to the drawing so anyway we went back to the drawing board and we're still working on that idea it's like you know just a fun thing to do but the whole point is like if if you know i've made some angel investments and whatever and if you were going to pitch me today i don't want to see your fucking idea i want to see your website i want to see it done because the marginal cost to produce the idea it's zero the marginal cost to produce an idea is zero and i think i think it's kind of the point is like until until today the entire world has belonged to programmers and it's you're an idea guy you go and you say hey i have this idea and you sit down and the programmers look at you go like oh i don't fucking want to code that or they go like cool cool idea bro i'll take 40 and then they and then they take your equity and then they build the thing that you dreamed of and like now with like ai you can build things you can build first iterations and get to the point where like you actually have like taken your idea reified it and made it something that like people can use maybe it's very bad, but you can test markets.
36:37So I'm just saying, I don't think there's been a better time than now for us to do exactly what I'm talking about. This has kind of been my message for the last probably year. The corner of the workforce that you've wanted to fire for 30 years is now obsolete. It's really, really cool, is what John Seth is saying. Fire everybody. I just have to add the point that I 100 % agree. It actually is the best time to be alive. and because of all of the trauma that other people have accumulated to be like incapable of doing anything, competition's pretty low right now. So like you can be fucking retarded and make a sewing machine company work if you can figure out how to hire a logistics guy.
37:18All right. Any questions? Look,$65 ,000 a coin and we're talking about painting the lines in a parking lot as salvation here. Any questions before we take a quick break? For the podcast, so everyone knows the question. Would we consider ourselves part of Big Bitcoin? Yes. What is Big Bitcoin? I don't know. If this is Big Bitcoin, sell your Bitcoin. It's like big milk. I think I want to be in the crew. Yeah, you could be in. This is Big Bitcoin right here.
37:52I'm big. I'm so out after this conversation. You wouldn't reuse a Bitcoin address, so why does your phone broadcast the same identifier for life? Every SIM has a static ID and carriers, ad networks and bad actors all use it to track you. The big carriers have been caught selling that data over and over again. CAPE is America's privacy first mobile carrier. Their identifier rotation feature changes your ID every 24 hours so you look like a different subscriber every single day. And SIM swaps are off the table. Your number can't move without a 24-word phrase that only you hold. There's also no name at sign up, no social security number And there's no profile to build on you If you're a Bitcoiner in America, I honestly don't know why you'd use any other network You can head over to cape.co forward slash wbd And use the code wbd for 33 % off your first six months That's cape.co forward slash wbd If you're already self-custody Bitcoin, you know the deal with hardware wallets Complex setups, clumsy interfaces, and a seed phrase that can be lost, stolen, or forgotten BitKey fixes that.
38:58BitKey's self-custody built for real life. It gives you an intuitive, easy to use wallet with no seed phrase to sweat over. And it has a strong recovery system and built inheritance for long-term peace of mind. And BitKey's just had a massive upgrade. The new device now has a screen. So before you approve something, you can check it on the BitKey itself. The transaction, the address, or any account changes. It's a big difference. You're not just trusting what's on your phone. You're seeing it for yourself on the device. It's simple, secure self-custody without the stress. Go to bitkey.world today and use the code WBD to get 10 % off the new BitKey.

39:31That's bitkey.world and use the code WBD. Every Bitcoiner eventually has to answer one question. If something happened to me, would my family know what to do? Could my wife or parents recover my Bitcoin? And would my children inherit the Bitcoin that I spent years stacking? That's where Anchor Watch builds Bitcoin custody models to protect you and your family against real life. Accidents, errors, kidnappings, and even your own death. every anchor watch custody solution includes their inheritance protocol designed so when the unthinkable happens your bitcoin reaches the people you intended it for whether you're a self-custody expert or want multi-institutional support your bitcoin estate plan shouldn't be an afterthought bitcoin is only generational wealth if it can actually be passed down through the generations so make sure they can access in the future what you've built today anchor watch is your custody your way visit anchorwatch.com to get started that's anchorwatch.com we've spoken a load about Bitcoin winning.
40:26Yeah. And you don't think Bitcoin's won yet? No, I don't think Bitcoin's won yet. No, that's not true. I think Bitcoin won a long time ago. I just don't think Bitcoin has done anything. It's not done anything super impressive. Everyone's always talking about the amazing things that Bitcoin's going to do. And I don't think that there's a checklist of things that I would say Bitcoin's done in particular. And I don't know that Bitcoin will ever do that stuff. I've always been kind of bearish on the idea. Can we be less vague? Didn't we already do a lot of stuff? Yeah, I mean, like Bitcoin is sort of just this innocuous thing that exists in the universe, and I think it's great.
41:01I'm glad we have it. But I just, like people talked about, you know, Bitcoin ending wars and Bitcoin just, you know, like there was a list of things that, you know, particularly libertarians would talk about Bitcoin doing. And it just is, it's not done any of that. And I don't know that it will do a lot of that, given that North Korea has been amassing a ton of Bitcoin and I don't think they're exactly for the end of wars. But like there's just been just not a ton of stuff that I think Bitcoin has like specifically done. I don't find I find Bitcoin to be more of a sort of an innocuous, interesting thing to like participate in and look at than I do.
41:36Like I think there's a lot of kind of worship of it that I don't do. It's an idea, right? It's a candle in a very dark forest. So that's important. But how it manifests and how we push it forward, I think, I agree with you. I think that there's a lot of work to do to actually bring. I think that Bitcoin comes to do things that we didn't expect of it very, very slowly in a way that just sort of like integrates it into the world and just integrates it into society and into the things that we normally do in such a way that it just doesn't really, there's not ever a moment where we're like, boy, Bitcoin did this amazing thing and blast it off.
42:12It just kind of slowly integrates. And I think that's the most important thing that Bitcoin actually does. Because we have this idea that Bitcoin liberates everybody, that suddenly the utopia presents itself, that everybody suddenly figures it out that they're getting fucked by CEO money. This never happens. I want to be super clear for everybody. The utopia that you want to sell to other people, yeah, it doesn't exist. And that's okay. That's important that it doesn't exist. because the real truth of what Bitcoin is is that it finally gives you a fair opportunity that like if you want to exit the system, you can.
42:51That's all. But like you got to make the fucking break. You got to run for the fences and see if you can get in the hole or get fucking shot. I don't actually give a shit whether or not you do that. I'll tell you it's possible. I'll show you where the hole is and how you can do it. But if you want to actually take the opportunity to make a risk to choose Bitcoin, to see what we all see, there is an opportunity there, but I can't force that onto you. But is that, having that opportunity alone, is that not winning? Yeah, for sure it's witty. And you actually recognize that this whole thing is fucked up.
43:27It's a complete facade. And that if you choose to do... We're fucking freaks. You and I probably would be dead from drug addiction at this point. You and I, who are you talking to? Danny mean huddle like drugs you're like a level person like I'm dead wait did you say just as a level more level on cocaine I mean like as he seems like he's a good father yeah yeah but so so what do you want to see then like if we've not already won what do you need to see what more do you need yeah well I know I think like Bitcoin's won in the sense that like I think I think the shit coins are dead. I think they were always dead.
44:11I think they've been dead for years. It took a long time for people to figure that out. I think of the things that Bitcoin is going to do, I think Bitcoin is going to emerge the only thing that does this stuff, whatever it is. And there's all sorts of tech on Bitcoin that allows us to extend Bitcoin into other sorts of... We'll give Bitcoin other properties. Like Paul Stortz has talked a lot about doing side chains and stuff like that. He's obsessed with... That's one of our addrops. Yeah, that's right. That's one of the coming air drops. But he's obsessed with prediction markets and stuff like that.
44:45So Ethereum has some of the prediction market stuff there, but there's no reason that can't be on Bitcoin. And that's always been kind of my thesis is that everything that we really do want that actually exists, that we can do with blockchain, can be done on Bitcoin if it actually matters. And will be done on Bitcoin at some point if it actually matters. And a lot of these, these sort of like a lot of the shit coins, as we tend to refer to them, are running these sort of reckless experiments where they're seeing kind of how far they can push a lot of this stuff. And that's fine. Let them do that.
45:15But that stuff can be on Bitcoin. can i just say like i listen i do think that you're being a little bit too demure uh and self-effacing because like you're more og than i am but i remember a time when you know the subreddit had 50 000 people on it and if bitcoin was mentioned on a libertarian podcast it was the top story on the subreddit and people were like oh my god dude sure it's can you believe we're on an episode of ncis i've talked i've talked about this before they mentioned it in a plot point for three seconds. At every stage of Bitcoin, everyone that gets here thinks that they're late.
45:48Every single person. I felt that way. You know, I was like, oh, the fun's already been had. It's fucking, already, I'm so late, you know? And, and little did I know that like, you know, 18 cent Bitcoin and 30 cent Bitcoin was like, gonna be, look very, very cheap 10, 15 years later, right? And that's, that's the thing, is like, everyone's always feeling like they're late and there was a time when like little things like Bitcoin Magazine came out they got on a couple of barnes and noble bookshelves i remember driving to barnes and noble to look at issue one and just be like we fucking did it it's it's over it's a wrap it's over it's a wrap we did it like bitcoin's done and look at that you were right i mean like general reserve look at that you don't even have a magazine listen going from look at this shitty four-page magazine ecb noble like okay listen like um going from 30 cents to 126 000 is an extremely big deal that never that never happens like bitcoin went from this you know weirdo thing uh with for a bunch of weirdos in weirdo meetups like this one no offense uh and and then it grew to be you know globally prominent on wall street you're all my people I want to be very clear about that and now global governments have to get invested in bitcoin and like it's a reality that people now have to deal with so I don't know I think it's just we have one massive like part of the reason bitcoin's struggling right now it's because we chewed through like 15 years of narrative struggling yeah yes no I just I like I don't again I don't understand that like it's not 126 000 but it is 64 000 right like 64 000 i think there's shit kicked out of it repeatedly like over the narrative constantly bitcoin has always done this it's a highly volatile asset it's always gone way up and then gone way down and like i remember when npr mentioned it and it went to 30 and i was like oh my god like that's it 30 bucks and then and then wikipedia started accept or uh not wikipedia what's the wiki leaks um wiki leaks started accepting it and then and then i just remember it's there coming down and like back down to dollar like that's like that's a that's a we we dropped 50 percent 50 percent okay i was here when bitcoin went to 30 dollars and dropped to a dollar like it's it's we're in a different world this doesn't look like getting beat up to me like i've i've watched this narrative no no yeah play out now i don't know 18 times no i i i completely agree like we've already fucking won we've won really really hard the fact of that the fact the price is 65 000 right now despite all the bullshit that's happened goes to show how much we've actually won the problem is right now there isn't a cohesive narrative about like where we're going.
48:47I don't think there, I don't think there needs to be. And the reason I say is because like Bitcoin works, Bitcoin works. It does what it's supposed to do. It transmits value from here to there. That's all it's supposed to do. And it's, you know, sort of base form, right? And it works and it's worked now for 15, 16 years. Well, I want to take the other side of what Eric said and say that there is a cohesive narrative about where we're going. It's just that none of us like it. Why is it? The narrative is that we're marching into a period of, you know, co-option by the corporate interest of the state.
49:22Like, and that's happening. And to be fair, like fucking Mark Goodwin and Whitney Webb, they were like, this is where it's going. Earlier, you talked about being close to the spigot, right? And this is called Cantillon effect, right? Okay. So you have Cantillon effect. Bitcoin is a reverse Cantillon effect. Those who are nearest the spigot are the last people to get it. And the first people that were here were hookers. Yes. And I remember when I was like, I was called by, I think it was Forbes, after one of the nights at like a Bitcoin magazine. And they were like, sir, there was a Bitcoin event that was done at a strip club.
49:58What do you think about the women of Bitcoin and how they feel about that? And I was like, the women of Bitcoin were on the polls. What are you like? Sir, we know that you suck some dick at a Bitcoin party. The first fucking users of Bitcoin were the women on the polls. You respectable women didn't get here until 2015, 2016. And you're fucking late. The hookers were here long before you. The strippers have been using it for 10 years. 2016, they've been using it for 10 years. And I want to be clear. If you're looking for any alpha, hookers and strippers are the alpha. Okay? So just let you know.
50:30What about all the Wall Street things that are done at strip clubs? Many, many more. Multiples more. Sure. That's true. It never bothered me in any sense that any of the Bitcoin stuff was doing in Strip. First of all, I don't care what women think. But like, ask my wife. No, but like in general. Again, this is why we're not live streaming this one. I just want to point that out again because that was a real win for PubKey.
51:01The truth is that the first women here in Bitcoin were the strippers and the hookers. like they were they were drug addicts i remember i went out on a i went to england uh many years ago and uh was taken out by one of the guys who was like selling bitcoin in the streets and he takes me out it takes us like 40 minutes by train to get where he needs to go and then he sits in a car and this guy who like is buying it is clearly an addict right he's like clearly going to shoot this shit up his arm and uh they sit there for like 20 minutes as the block confirms he trades him the bitcoin he gives him the cash we're just sitting there and we're sitting in attic we're sitting in we're sitting in the car with an addict who's sitting there just kind of like itching to like get his like i don't know what he was putting his arm but something you know he's going to go get something with his bitcoin he's like i'm just sitting there and he's called fentanyl and stop acting like it's a problem okay but but i don't know i mean at this time he's buying like you know like three bitcoin for like 35 dollars right and i like years later you look at that you're like that that motherfucker like i wonder if he has like any left like just kind of like leftover.
52:03And if he's like sitting on like hundreds of thousands of dollars, but Bitcoin expensive heroin ever. These are the first people that came to Bitcoin. Bitcoin really did have a reverse cantaloupe effect where the people farthest from the spigot got it first. It's sort of like a one time cantaloupe effect, right? Like it only happened once. It'll never happen again. Right. And the people that come now, like the people that are closest to the spigot, they can buy a ton of it, but they're doing it at 60 ,000 or$120 ,000 a coin. Yeah. Which is, you know, like if the Rockefeller, the Rockefeller Foundation had figured this out at like, 50 bucks a coin would be in a very different world, but no one did.
52:35That's why Michael Saylor was kind of a big deal when he first started is because we had prophesied Michael Saylor. Like he was a Lisan Al-Gaib for us where we were like, one day a man will buy a billion dollars of Bitcoin, you know? And then like my aunt at Thanksgiving would be like, you're fucking delusional. It's fucking retarded. I remember like Bitcoin's worth$200. I had a good friend. He was working mutual funds at Goldman Sachs. And I told him, I was like, you know, Goldman should really like, you know, buy some Bitcoin. and he looked at me and he laughed he goes market caps five million dollars like that's why so cheap you know that's when you get in in retrospect in retrospect i'm looking at that i'm like and we talked about this earlier yeah like you didn't get you didn't get into bitcoin early because you were smart you got in because you were retard like you got in because like you looked at it and you really thought that like this small thing could become a big thing and like you think that you had vision but you didn't it's just that you got on the lucky train and And that's just the reality of it.
53:29Like many people were here accidentally and they have, you know, there's a lot of people that have a lot of money now because they were drug addicts and they have leftover coins. And like, I really want to hear that like, like I'm from the world of drug addict people. Like, like, look, without Bitcoin, like I'm fucking dead. Like I'm dead long fucking ago. This was supposed to be the positive panel. I'm getting there. Don't worry. So it's like, look, like, life for me fucking sucked, and I hated it. And I hated everything about it, and I was ready to kill myself. Thank you. And Bitcoin liberated me from that.
54:05I'm very happy about that. But like... Wait till I tell you about Jesus later.
54:13I've heard good things about that guy. You can't inject him, but you can put him in your heart. My whole point is that the amount of deep-seated hatred that people can't speak to about this system of abuse, extraction, and exploitation that Bitcoin actually answers in the most meaningful and deeply philosophical aspect is very, very, very important. Very. Thank you. I really appreciate that. So Gresham's Law. No, no, wait a second. Because when Huddled was saying, like, maybe we've used all the narratives, like, this is the stuff that people don't understand about Bitcoin anymore. Yeah, and the narrative is, fuck you.
54:55I can be a heroin addict. I can be a crack addict. I can be a fentanyl addict. See, you thought it wasn't going to be positive. And, like, my thing is that, like, I hate, I deeply hate everything about this fucking system of control, power, and autonomy that, frankly, AI is about to absolutely mindfuck to everyone. You can be a heroin addict. You can be a heroin addict. Join us. I want everybody to look under your chairs. We have a gift. We have a gift for everyone. Spoons at the bar. Eric, I want you to finish that thought. What are you saying about AI there? My point is to go into addiction.
55:36um no it's that the world is changing in a rapid and extreme pace and the place that you thought that you had by being a yale scholar and getting honors and whatever else bullshit it's just that it's bullshit this isn't going to matter in 20 years because the way that ai is completely fucked everything but also that in ai fucking everything bitcoin provides a path towards like if you just have fucking hustle like you can get it like they're fucking sewing machine store like fucking sewing machine it's cute like I see you guys branding that really well together as a couple gaily but like ultimately like it's a great path and that's a product of what AI can do is that you can create a business where love prevails all how am I meant to take this seriously i just want to point out that still light out it's it's not dusk yet um i graduated from ivy league there's one thing did you really i don't know probably so uh with gresson's law i'm not sure i agree with that with the uh cantillion uh effect but it is a cogent point um i do think that bitcoiners the broader bitcoin community is one of the only ones i can think of that's immune to Brandolini's law.
56:58What the fuck is that? Brandolini's law is the ability to argue against bullshit, like the amount of energy it takes. Bitcoiners are like watching for like Jesus coming out of the clouds every week. And they're like, oh, I got Michael Saylor. Oh, I love you. Oh, Elon. Elon's here. Oh, my Jesus. Look at the idiots. Look at the idiots that did Noah Doe. Noah Doe in New York State. You have people. We have somebody in the mug club that wrote an amicus brief. It's a swarm of retarded energy that is going to take down these things that are even a perceived fictional threat to Bitcoin. And they come out of the woodwork and they just swarm it with absolute bullshit.
57:42I do think that that not bullshit. Like we're always right. We fall for retardation all the time. No, the retard energy I'm saying is important. Oh, you're like the retard energy. Yes, very much. I consider myself an expert in that category. This has basically just been a panel on retail maxing. Pretty much. Hell yeah. Do heroin. Start a garbage can business. You could be a heroin addict. Maybe if you work hard enough. I'm going to refuse myself and say, I don't like heroin. You shouldn't do it. Please don't. Everyone likes heroin. I just got to put that out there for y 'all. Don't do heroin because you will like it.
58:15Yeah, you only don't like it if you've not tried it. I mean, it's amazing. Don't do it. Pretty great. Will you give us some positivity here, please? He's not getting on the plane tomorrow. what will you give us some positivity here please the positivity is like we actually have bitcoin i'm pretty positive highly successful it's going to continue to be highly successful and the simple fact is you live in a world where everyone else is a wolf to wolf like this has been known for 3 000 years the the classic quote of hominus homini lupi which means wolf is man is wolf to man yeah i butchered that um like it's a classic existence that we all have Bitcoin actually gets you to a place where you can play on a level playing field people can't fuck you over more so than any other place that they can at least you have a fair and level playing field by which you can choose to play the game DJ had things to say about that flattening and the choices is whether or not do you want to collapse into being a pathetic fucking nothing or do you want to choose to will to power and actually choose to say I fucking matter.
59:23My business matters. I have a vision for the future that my government and that society has not provided for me. So I'm going to make the decision to choose what the next thousand years will look like as opposed to collapsing into what the patheticness of what the next 50 years will look like. Nietzsche used to talk a lot about cleaning trash cans, too. Sure. I think across a lot of different parts of his career. At risk of taking a serious note here. I do like to inject some positivity. I think the whole thing has been positive and fun. But on the positive note, I think the killer app of Bitcoin is prosperity.
1:00:00I think that's what people want. On the way here, our cab driver was telling us how he... Do you mean your helicopter driver? Well, we took a helicopter and then we really should be acting like it's a bear market. I really thought this was going to be a panel of one tonight. Yeah, just thought we were going to die. i kind of thought it too i was like anytime you get in a helicopter you're like oh just wait for the conclusion but anyway you know the guy was telling us he was from egypt i don't know how the fuck you're gonna edit this he was he was he was telling us that he was from egypt our uber driver slash private helicopter driver he was from egypt and he his family moved here in 2013 and we looked up the exchange rate because we were talking about bitcoin with him and uh the you know uh egyptian pound had lost 87 of its value since his family moved here in 2013 and you know he was basically saying like why why would I do Bitcoin are people still doing Bitcoin we were like yeah of course people are still doing and here's why you would do it you would do it if you wanted to you know send remittances back to your family you would do it if you wanted to you know sort of you know put your savings into something that you're making as an Uber driver or you would do it because you know the the country that you come from is you know know via corruption and you know the system that's set up there like your your money is being inflated away and that's what is your money is if not pieces of your life especially when you're selling your labor for cash and you don't have assets if you're asset rich like to me it doesn't matter like when michael saylor gains or loses several billion dollars who gives a fuck but when rich when yeah meaning just rich right when some people are rich in love jensen that's um Um, when you're selling your labor into the marketplace, um, and you're, you know, your time is being devalued away from you.
1:01:53That is like a micro theft of your life. It's like a micro murder. Right. And so it's like, for me, the thing that is always interesting and exciting is regular people seeking prosperity and using Bitcoin to gain prosperity. and it doesn't really matter to me how people feel about BIP 110 or Michael Saylor. You don't care about BIP 110? I don't give a fuck about BIP 110. Oh my God. Not at all. It does not matter to me. Don't care. I'm actually impressed that you're still speaking to taxi drivers about Bitcoin. Always. I'm tired. That's like the best heuristic that you have. Yeah, but I'm genuinely exhaustive having those conversations.
1:02:33When I first came into Bitcoin - That's a helicopter pilot. We're moving up in the world. But like, that's the point, man. Like, you should be fucking exhausted because like, you know, the answer and they should fucking know it too. And they don't. But nobody's coming to save you, I think is the point. You got to say nobody is coming to save the USA is not coming to save the individual. But the USA is its own autonomous like blob effectively. But nobody's coming to save you. And when you talk to another person, I actually love that interaction with a cab driver or a helicopter pilot. That's actually what happens here.
1:03:06a lot with a casual bar chat and when you connect with somebody in an environment where you can actually communicate that nobody's coming to save you. But this is where I got really tired. When I first came into Bitcoin, I was talking to anyone I could possibly get their ear. I was talking to them about Bitcoin. And over time, I just get exhausted of those conversations. At some point, I do the podcast. Anyone who wants to hear about Bitcoin can come here and hear about it. But I feel like one of the biggest losses we had over the last few years is we haven't really had new people who are excited and fired up and want to talk to everyone about Bitcoin.
1:03:39That's not true, though. There's new people. Every single pump, we get entrance. Every single one. But we didn't have a pump. Who here came into Bitcoin after 2022? So we've got like three people. Okay. He's underselling it. It was like six. Seven. The problem is we haven't fucking ended the state at this point in time. And the state is the thing that fucking hates everyone. That's why they steal from us. That's why they take money from us. If they were a functional thing that didn't give, that actually gave a fucking shit about any of us, they wouldn't steal money from us. They'd actually give you money.
1:04:15They fucking hate you. The problem, the problem. They hate you unilaterally, unconditionally. And the fact that you are a fucking parasite. And I want to emphasize this point because the state has never made anything at any point in time for anyone, for any purpose. It hates you. It wants to steal from you. It's parasitic and it steals. Fuck them. Fuck everything that they represent. Fuck everything that they have ever tried to steal from you. We are a free, sovereign people that our constitution from its declaration of independence, each and every single point that is emphasized there is about the fact that we are free.
1:04:55We do not account to them. They have no right over us, and they have stole everything from us. We could make this the freest, the most liberated, the most prosperous country that has ever existed for all of humanity, and they do everything to step on our neck from that. Trump, Trump, Trump. Fuck Trump. Fuck everything that he represents. Fuck everything that every one of the politicians represents. This is about us as a free people, first and foremost, in that we have a right to choose for ourselves what our lives represent i brought my child here because i yeah me too um because i want him to know and understand what i represent as values in this world and one of the things that's the most valuable for me is that as americans we have a right to decide for ourselves what our lives look like.
1:05:55And our country has gone so deep and so thoroughly into each of our own rights, none of us know what that looks like anymore. What would it mean if we really had community? What would it mean if we were no longer robbed blindly by our own governments? What would it mean if we actually chose to make a community? it wasn't about right or left anymore, but it was about whether or not we chose to give one another the right to decide what their lives look like. That's why I'm a fucking Bitcoiner, is because I want everyone, whether or not I agree with them or not, to have a right to choose for themselves what their lives look like.
1:06:38And that's why I'll keep being a Bitcoiner despite all the bullshit that's going around about Bit110. and if you want to choose that for yourself okay i don't get it but go ahead and that's what i love about bitcoin is that we have made a choice for one another to actually have a subjective choice for each other about what the future is that we want whether or not you want a bullshit chain that somehow tries to censor whether or not dick butts are on it or if you get that i think most people don't give a fuck, but you do you. Listen, if you leave here and don't cut down a flock camera after hearing that, you're a status bitch.
1:07:23Yeah, that gets the applause.
1:07:28I'm ready to run through a war right now. So we got one... I think American Bitcoiners are the best chance that we have at saving the world for individuals. We got one pro BIP110 person here. And then HODL and I are kind of like don't give a shit. You'll find my body upstairs after I've been on. Does anybody have any questions?
1:07:55We'll keep going. Yeah, I got it. Here, take this, please. Cheers. Alright, so you guys were all lucky enough to find Bitcoin when you were probably what? In your 20s? I was fucking lucky. Motherfucker, I'm going to tell you about my life and then you tell me I'm lucky. you're all dads now, right? Like you got families, Bitcoin helped that. But I mean, I think one thing we feel in the Bitcoin community is that like, we need new blood, right? Like, what do you say to the 20 to 25 year old who can put 100, 200, 300 bucks into Bitcoin a month at most? Is that going to change their life? And is that useful?
1:08:30I actually think - Yeah, like, what are you going to say when it's at$250 ,000? Like, oops, I was wrong. Have you met a 25 year old right now? They went through COVID in high school and college. We're making the next one. Like, we can't deal with this current one. It's problematic. It's not easy to talk to. I'm kidding. At every turn, every revolutionary turn in society, there's been opportunity. And if you watch It's a Wonderful Life, they're pitching George on plastics. If you look at the X, Generation X in the 90s, they were all getting rich by investing in, you know, www websites, right? every single generation has had these opportunities when I was at college Google came out and uh and when I was young I didn't have any money I didn't have enough to put any money in and I found Bitcoin and the result is like you know some of us did very well with Bitcoin right this generation is going to have other opportunities Bitcoin might be a part of a portfolio but I don't think that like, I don't think you should live your life looking at what is going to make you rich.
1:09:38I think it's just a really problematic way to live your life. You should live your life looking at, you know, like we were talking about the constitution and declaration of independence earlier. Uh, Thomas Jefferson says that we have the ability to pursue happiness, right? It's the pursuit of happiness. And I really think that like as Americans in particular, the pursuit of happiness, and I would say the pursuit of satisfaction, maybe it would be even a better word, is something that we can all participate in. And I don't think, I think that there's been this narrative, particularly for younger people, that having money is the pinnacle of life.
1:10:12When the reality is that the world's built for the Toyota driver, the whole world's built for people who have 50 bucks. Everything is built for that person. It's not to say that you want 50 bucks only, but I'm just saying like, I don't think that necessarily Bitcoin is like, just investing all of your money in Bitcoin is necessarily the answer to every single person. And I think that that's always been the retard maxing pitch for Bitcoin. While it has been successful for the last decade, it doesn't have to be successful for the next decade for you to be fulfilled, satisfied, and happy. Yeah, but I think that's kind of rich coming from a 2011 Bitcoin.
1:10:45Everyone says that in your comments, too. It's not rich at all coming from him. Just one sec, just one sec. As the person here who bought Bitcoin the latest, I bought Bitcoin in 2016. I was like 26 years old or whatever. I had 100 pounds in my name, and I felt super late. Compared to Junset, I was super late. But I think people who are the same age now with the same amount of money now are still going to have massive upside opportunity in Bitcoin. We're clearly not at the top. That was my point on the Cantillion effect not necessarily being over. I do think it's still early. If things work out, it's like an outdoor cat.
1:11:17It'll come back unless it gets hit by a car. I'm sorry. I got to interject. So a couple of things. First of all, like whatever amount of money you think is going to make you happy, you're fucking wrong. Okay? Like I just look at him. I think it certainly helps to take a lot of pressure off. I think that a lot of people say that that's not entirely true when you're not worried about like basic, basic pressures of life. But hang on. I want to say this point. You will always be worried about that no matter what. Unconditionally, unilaterally, you will always worry about that. But the real question is whether or not you choose to live for yourself or someone else.
1:11:56Because I can't tell you how many people I meet that have made the choice. And I completely understand why and how and the reasoning for it. But they have chose to prostitute themselves to other people. And like, I don't judge it because I understand why and how it ends up. You are actually a free and sovereign individual that can make a decision about how you choose to guide your own life and i want to welcome you to that because like over here it sucks playing their game you will only lose no matter what if you choose from the get-go to do something else with yourself and represent who and how and why you want to exist for yourself that will work unconditionally unilaterally i guarantee it because i've been on the other side where you always have to welcome people who are listening now the question was are you free if you still feel hatred in your heart never and like for full gayness i have to say never not because can i defend you know like it depends on the night and what drugs i'm doing but not because i'm gay but because i want to welcome it's okay to be gay it's okay can i i want to defend the my point earlier though like take away from the you're all taken away from my throne my point is is that i want to welcome each of you to sovereignty god damn it I'm sorry, this is more trauma for your therapist.
1:13:22It's okay, he's paid well. Defend yourself. My point is that each of you should actually ask for yourself, what and how can I contribute to society in a meaningful way that isn't non-monetary? If you can welcome that, the monetary thing will present itself later down the line in a much more meaningful way, in a much bigger way than you could have ever expected. But you have to welcome the uncertainty of the whole thing. So as an early Bitcoiner who has watched Bitcoin go up, I know a lot of people who've made a lot of money. And I know a lot of people who are very unhappy who've made a lot of money.
1:14:00And I'm just saying, like, I think you can spend your whole life saying, what is the asset that this decade is going to perform the best? You can spend your whole life doing that. And then you can live on your mommy's couch. Stretch, yeah.
1:14:16stretch for example uh you can live on your mommy's couch and and count and count your little boobie coins right and and sit there for the rest of your life and uh at 65 be like i'm now rich i'm gonna go out to the world and i'm gonna go on vacation you know and i'm gonna go to like singapore or something and you'll get there like wow this is really hard i'm 65 you know like there's a lot of walking this place sucks this would have been really cool to see at 40 you know i used to have a sled yeah it was the most favorite thing and i'm just saying like spend your spend your time thinking about what's going to fulfill you don't spend all of your time thinking about what's going to be the most productive asset the next 10 years and like maybe it's bitcoin maybe it's ai maybe it's stretch maybe it's something we haven't thought of yet.
1:15:07I don't know. But I'm just saying it's the future. You can't predict it. A lot of people accidentally will find it, and they'll get really rich, and you'll watch some of your friends go from$0 to$1 billion, and they'll still be unhappy. If they were unhappy when they had very little, they'll be unhappy when they're very rich. I've seen it. Listen. Maybe this is a fantastic technology to take care of yourself, to take care of your loved ones, to grow a family, to take care of your community. Maybe it's a bottom-up grassroots approach, and we shouldn't expect somebody to do that for us. Listen, fuck all this.
1:15:41I took a helicopter here, and it was choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend it, okay? And maybe I'm the only retardant up on this stage who thinks Bitcoin's going to$10,$100 million a coin, because that's what I think. So if you're like, hey, I'm 25. Should I buy Bitcoin at$65 ,000? Yeah, you fucking buy it at$65 ,000. Do you want to have$100 million? Yeah. Buy Bitcoin. Don't. Don't. Don't buy Bitcoin. It's going to fail. It's going to go zero. There's no way it could work. Yeah. Yeah. Boo. You fucking suck. Like you believe what the Borg wants you to believe. And you fucking suck because of that.
1:16:23So yeah. Don't buy Bitcoin. Go do some woodworking. Go hunting. Any questions? If anybody wants to comment on that or redirect. we're gonna start to wrap this up before really that was certainly for you no we're not done just yet do we have any questions any questions way too late hey guys I have a question so right now quantum computing is regarded as one of the biggest challenge to bitcoin how do you guys see if like quantum computing really like decipher or you know the Bitcoin like math problem what do you see the future of crypto and Bitcoin this way I actually think we should bring Matt Corralo up I was literally so Matt get up here get up here Matt Corralo is coming we have some actual comments thank you you can ask the retail panel or you can ask Matt This is our expert.
1:17:31I'm totally into Quantum. He's really smart. I could tell you about Quantum. I'm going to let Matt do it. He's super smart, but he doesn't know. I think Jonseth would give a great answer to this. Probably, yeah. God damn it. You know what I was going to say, actually? I was going to be like, you know what's actually really interesting is we have people who've been core developers here in the room. Actually, Matt's in the back, and then I was going to invite you up, but then they didn't. So, like, I just, I want to clarify this for everybody. I'm in danger, right? No. No, no, you're fine. I think the serious answer is that there's still a ways off.
1:18:11Like, there's really interesting technical advancements in terms of algorithms and things and ways that you can build things with the physical qubits once they start to actually be usable. but we still have some time that isn't advancing at the rate that the algorithm stuff is advancing that has people really excited and worried but there's work to be done but it's also not as bad as people make it out to be because the work is surprisingly easier than it looks at first glance so I think there's a lot of people who are like quantum experts who look at Bitcoin at first glance, don't really understand all of the crypto top to bottom and say, oh yeah well, the elliptic curve cryptography is broken by quantum computers and Bitcoin uses that everywhere.
1:18:58And so it's going to be hard for them to upgrade. And so Bitcoin is fucked. But the reality is, for example, seed phrases and the way wallets are built, you can in fact prove that you know the wallet's seed phrase and use that to spend coins. So there are options that we have in like an actual emergency scenario where we could do things that would allow people to retain ownership of their coins, but would save Bitcoin, quote unquote. So Matt, are you saying basically - Nerd, burn him. Burn him. Are you saying basically that there are ways - Thank you, Matt, that's enough. We got one last question.
1:19:36Go ahead. Hang on. I just want to say - Thank you, Matt. I appreciate it. Matt, I love you. I don't mean that by any means whatsoever. And I just want to emphasize that this is the nerd approach. This is like being on a panel with Hottl. Can we thank Matt for his service, please? last question everybody so this might be the most entertaining panel i've ever seen at pub key my question you must have a boring life my my question sorry danning how on earth are you going to turn this into a podcast luckily that's not going to be on me that's on vanya here to I've got no idea. Four minutes. Four minutes online.
1:20:17All right, quick one. Is it American hodl or hodl? It's hodl. Hodl. Hodl rhymes with bottle. Always hodl. Yeah, people always say, well, it's hold. The original word is hold, and it's like, no, it's a new word encompassing the buy and hold philosophy, and that new word is hodl. We don't know how to read. That's how it works. Phonetically, hodl makes way more sense. That is not the Rwandan pronunciation of it, which is HODL. HODL. So next time that you do it, do it that way. Alright, we got any more questions or is that it? Okay. I want to say a huge thank you to Eric, HODL, and Junsef. They've come from all over the US.
1:21:00Give them a big round of applause. Woo! And obviously, a massive thank you to Thomas, PubKey. This has been awesome. I appreciate you, man. Yay, PubKey! And I want to end on the note that each and every single one of you has a responsibility to actually talk to your family and friends about Bitcoin in a mature and thoughtful way. I know it's very easy to retreat into the like, oh, yeah, like, I don't I don't know. You fucking know. You know exactly what all of this is about. Go talk to your family and friends about why Bitcoin is actually important from your own standpoint. Fuck you. This is important.
1:21:41You're fucking over here giggling. I can't believe he's laughing. I know. How dare him? What a dick. You know what? We're going to have a trial at the DEI trial tribunal over there. You can't be free. Look at him. All right, everybody. Thank you so much for coming to Pumpkin. That's why I'm giggling. This is a fantastic, fantastic show. I want to thank Danny, Junseth, American HODL, Eric for being here. We're going to hang out. I think Jensen should sing us out. Sing us out, Jensen. Sing us out. Come on. You got it. Start spreading the news. Tip your part to these things. Good night. Do it. Do it.
1:22:14Do it. Do it.

“We’ve already fucking won.”
Bitcoin went from a weird internet experiment to an asset that Wall Street, corporations and governments can no longer ignore. But as the suits pile in, is Bitcoin losing the culture that made it matter?
Recorded live at PubKey in New York City, American HODL, Junseth and Erik Cason & Thomas Pacchia are on the show for an unfiltered conversation about Bitcoin’s conquest of Wall Street, why everyone still thinks they’re late, the promise of $100 million Bitcoin and whether Bitcoin needs a new narrative.
We also discuss the rise of Bitcoin treasury companies, building businesses with AI, escaping economic nihilism, individual sovereignty and why prosperity remains Bitcoin’s true killer app.
