3:54to 9 p.m. Check out Flipkart, the link is in the description So the idea of the podcast is 2026 के लिए top business lessons which are brutal okay जो reality है और लोगों को समधना चाहिए सीखना चाहिए to build their business and scale it to another level got it right in 2026 and उसका भी part उसकता है to save themselves from all this technology and AI and start-ups coming in the world क्योंकि बहुत सारे small businesses struggle कर रहे so let's just talk about that what do you think should be the lessons people should follow in two three things may be you tell which 10-12 systems which every company should implement for 2026 or else it's trouble for them or the practices or if they are already doing they should have a checklist that every week or every month are they following up on those those are no that can be one other can be contrary insights which you see that the income is like this तो यह से अब नहीं चलेंगे और you see the problem with all the MSMEs and businesses that you work with कि वो आज भी यही problems ज़िए फिक्स नहीं करी तो things are very tough so it's a combination of factors जैसे मैं देखता हूँ कि when you told me this topic 26 hard hitting facts so I looked at it from the point of view of outcome क्या है किसी भी दंदेगा outcome है most basic outcome है पैसे कमाना correct so I kinda started looking at rules of making money okay किसी भी धन्दे में पैसे कमाने के नीम क्या है which means those rules don't change चाहे कोई भी हो जो podcast सुन रहा है the rules don't change at all okay so from that point of view there are some macro aspects कि जैसे the type of customer आप target कर रहे हूं that's one very critical aspect in today's day and age सबको लगता है इंडिया 140 करोड लोगों की population है घंटा है the market is not 140 करोड people if you want to make money in this country the market is the top 10 lakh people that's it सिफ 10 lakh लोग हैं country में to make money अगर आपको पैसे बनाने है आपको start-up start-up खेलना है funding funding खेलनी है time दिखाना है वो अलग बात है but there end of the road profit very very rare like I would say the Zomato's the Swiggy's are outliers कि ये जिन्दा रहेंगे इनकी वालुएशन बढ़ती जाएगी ये प्रॉटबल होंगे वो मुझे नहीं दिखता Zomato is profitable but it's like a never ending burn will happen right so the way I would say is I'm not talking about outlier entrepreneurs like Dipender I am talking about normal people like me and you okay what should be focused for us okay okay from that point of view that if it's a country that looks like it's a country of 140 crore people any business should look at what are the top 10 lakh people who are the right customers for my product or my service or my capability and how do you make money there.
7:34Okay. So, how do I identify? I am a business owner. Now, I am 140 people, I don't see the market. I am top 10 lakh customers. How do I identify my top 10 lakh customers? One is a very basic definition of who is the right customer. The right customer is the man. Man means money, authority, need. Who has money? Who has authority? और किसके पास जरूरत है आपके product या service की okay so in any business that you are doing you need to identify कि man कौन है वहांपर money authority need अगर आप अपना product या service सिर्फ you are targeting the people who have money but they don't have need और they don't have authority जहापर वो बोल रहे है पपा से पूछना है ममी से पूछना है पती से पूछना है then you lose in the sales cycle okay so you need to find who has the money who has the authority who has the need now while you are selecting a category of customer एक बूटल फाक्त है whoever you sell to their problem becomes your problem जिसको भी आप बेचोगे उनकी प्रोब्म्स आपकी प्रोब्म बनेंगी for example मैं I can be selling boats to fishermen I can be selling yachts to millionaires and billionaires boat
So you have to choose कि आप कौनसे problems के साथ जीने के लिए ready हो or you have to compliment कि अगर मैं B2B में business कर रहा हूँ और वहां की problem है कि एक long sales cycle है क्योंकि एक decision making hierarchy ही है उस long sales cycle को मैं अपने financial cash flow को effect कैसे ना करने दूँ, can I have a B2C line okay so a business owner firstly has to evaluate who am i selling to okay yeah that's the start point of any business i have seen business owners who have put horse blinders in one segment focus and made a business in that segment in the years and when they start getting this realization कि मैं जिसको बेच रहा हूं उसके प्रवम मेरे प्रवम हो रहे है then they develop the intelligence कि how can I sell to another segment or how can I choose a better quality of customer where their problem should become my problem yeah interesting so how can I give me more examples on how can I choose a better customer there I'll give you an example I'll take a very basic business example मेरी एक लाइन थी, फैशन डिजाइनर, शी उस तो मेक वेडिंग लेहंगास, ठीक है, तो टारगेट कस्टमर थे, तो टू ब्राइट्स, लड़कियां जिनकी शादी होने वाली है, तू ब्राइट्स टारगेट कस्टमर थे, अब उसका बुटिक उसने खोला था, वेस्ट एक पर तृट भी मैं.
13:11And when she came, she said, यहार, people find my collection expensive. Now, आज कि डड़ में, even a middle-class bride, spends at least one lakh on a lehenga. It's one of those aspirational spends. कि मैं नेकलेस कमका ले लूँँगी बट मुझे लेहंगा प्रीमियम चाहिए so then when she told me कि she had a boutique in West Delhi I asked her a simple question कि आपके boutique के 5-7 km radius की population के average income क्या होगी she said lower middle class now this woman has been running that boutique for 4 years in that location उस चार साल में पता है उसका सबसे बड़ा नुकसान क्या हुआ था not lack of customers not rejection सबसे बड़ा उसका नुकसान हुआ था उसके belief का क्योंकि उसको आदत पड़ चुकी थी यह सुनने की कि you are expensive so she had lost conviction in her own craft खुद की कला से भरोसा उट गया था उसका I said I am going to ask you to make one move might sound difficult I said shut your boutique in that location choose a location in Delhi which is a premium location rent will be premium यह rent बचाने के चक्कर में आपने अपना कितना नुकसान किया आप सोच भी नहीं सकते हो not just financial नुकसान but अपने बिलीफ और चनुकसान she moved to a up market location I said now double your prices she doubled her prices in the next one year she made more money than she had made in four years because she realized that who she was selling to their problem was becoming her problem.
15:31True. True. But it's not easy to change customers because when you come to normal thoughts this person trusted you. A normal first thought is that we have been working for 4 years to make a brand in this location. People know us and people come. If we went to a new location, how will the customer football come? If we went to a new location then we have to make a brand from zero. If we went to a new location then people उदर और भी दूसरी ब्रैंट्स उन पर नहीं जाके मेरे पास क्यू आएंगे में चीज खरीदने यह सब बहुत प्रॉब्लम प्लस बहुत लोग के ऐस री लोकेशन मनी नहीं होता बहुत लोग के बास यह नियुक्ता है कि अगले नौ महीने में पेशेंट के साथ बैठके देखू कि शायद वहाँ पे तो मेरा चलती दुकान थी चल ठीक है मैं पचास हरी आ रहे थे लेकिन आतो रहे थे नई जगे पर जिरो से स्टार्ट करना बाद बाद बहुत अब अब तो यह जो डर है न राज, इस डर की वज़े से पीपल स्टार्ट अब लिविग विद देर प्रॉब्लम्स अज वेफ लाइफ, मेरा एक सिंपल थॉट प्रॉसेस है, अगर आज आप जो कर रहे हो, उससे आपको एक डिजार रिजल्ट नहीं मिल रहा है, तो उसी चीज़ को दोहरा -दोरा करने को भेवबुकुफी ही कहते है Truly Now ऐपको चाहिए नञीज़ रिज़ल्ट नया रिज़ल्ट आएगा नया आkt्शन से नया आइक्शन लेने के लिए चाहिए होगी नई हिम्मत अगर ये ज़ नई हिम्मत और है when they are sick and tired of being sick and tired
I'm not talking about Ambani, Adani level के infrastructure businesses large business तेलिकॉम वैसे बिसनस की बात नहीं कर रहा है वो शुरू करने के हम आपकी आपकात नहीं है यह राइट आम टॉकिंग अबाट हम जैसे लोग अगर बिसनस बनाना चाहते हैं we have to look at कि what is the easiest fastest smartest path to money creation और यही पर because internet पे इतना आवाज है because business media, PR इतना loud है complex businesses और complex entrepreneurs की journey को highlight करने में जो simple लोग ना वो simple ideas भी implement नहीं करते because they are like the complexity only works उनको aspiration बैट जाता है कि मुझे अगला boat बनाना है okay मुझे अगला lens cut बनाना है even they started with baby steps only na okay so what are your baby steps and the first baby step is who are you selling to interesting what's number two I agree with this part अब जब when you zero in कि ये customer है जिनके लिए मैं product बनाऊंगा या service डेलिवर करूंगा you have to now evaluate the product or service कि ये जो मैं product दे रहा हूं या ये जो मैं service प्रोवाइड कर रहा हूं इस पे पैसे खर्च करने के लिए किस्टमर कितना सोचेगा, कितना नहीं सोचेगा.
21:11Okay. What do you mean by that? I mean, I call this the spend threat. Okay. Okay. Example देता हूं, to explain the spend threat. He introduced himself and he said, I'm a happiness coach. Okay. I coach people, तक कि दे लिवा एप्पियर लाइफ I said great ये भी एक business है fantastic so he said but Rajiv आज कल न लोग बहुत ही distracted है people are okay to spend 2000 रुपीज एक पब में on a weekend but 1500 रुपे का coaching session नहीं लेते लोग then I am thinking to myself यह भी अनहापी है इस कुरूभी कोचिंग से ही so and he took this very higher moral ground कि आपके पास 2 ,000 रुपए प्रप में जाके बीर पीने के लिए बड़ आपके पास 1 ,500 रुपए नहीं है खुद की happiness और inner work के लिए kind of thing typical social activist approach so I asked him a question I said आपका target customer गौन है he said everybody हर किसी को happiness coaching चाहिए हर किसी के life में stress है हर किसी के life में problem है अब एक business owner जब ये सोचता है कि मेरे product या service की जरूरत हर किसी को है तो कोई उससे कुछ नहीं खरीता है if everybody is your customer then nobody is actually your customer.
23:01That's an old rule, right? So I said, don't give me vague moral science answers. Tell me, on the date of today, when you pitch your coaching service, you pitch a 15-year-old coaching session or you pitch a package for six months, who are you pitching this to? So he said, working professionals. I said, salary band, tell me. he said 60 ,000 rupees per month I am pitching coaching sessions to them 4 coaching sessions in a month 6 ,000 रुपए बट कोई खरीदी नहीं रहा है so I told him एक pen और paper लो लिखो 60 ,000 रुपए 2 ,000 ,000 रुपए ये तुम्हारा range है customer की income का एक साथ हजार रुपे कमाने वाले वरकिंग प्रोफेशनल की लाइफ के खर्चे लिखो अगर वो बंबई या दिली या बैंगलोर या चैन्नाई या हाइदरबाद जैसे शेहर में रह रह रहा है उसका मंतली खर्चा लिखो किस किस चीजों पे उसका अप्रॉक्सिमेट कित तो कंई हगा सीडान या स्अधी ऊसकार की ऎमाई 28 या 25 स्थाव कर्शे, अगर 2 लाख रूपई है, 35 प्लस है, उके बच्चों की स्कूल फ्थीज उसकी अगर 2 बच्चे हैं, तो उनकी शाल की स्कूल फीज कम से कम एक बच्चे हैं, आज की स्कूल फ्युज कर्फ़े, मंतली खर्चा हूँ, अब घर में एक domestic help होगी, खाने पीने के खर्चे होगे, swiggy zamato के खर्चे होगे, Netflix के खर्चे होगे, Wi-Fi connection के खर्चे होगे, mobile phone bill होगा, fuel expense होगा, वो 2 ,00 ,00 रुपे वाले की अगर आप lifestyle breakdown करोगे, उसकी income 2 ,00 ,00 रुपे है, उसके खर्चे ढाई से तीन लाख रुपे हैं वो चल दो क्रेडिट कार्ड पे रहा है अब जो इंसान दो क्रेडिट कार्ड पे अपनी जिंदगी चला रहा है उसको तुम बोलोगे छे अजार रुपे हर मैने दो मुझे मैं तुम्हें खुश कर दूँगा happiness coaching में वो बोलेगा कि भाई मैं भंड हो जाओ दारूपी के उससे जादा happiness मुझे कही नहीं मिलेगी तो ये काफी बार होता है कि business owners खुद के product को अपने customer के budget और अपने customer की life में कहां fit होता है वो analyze करते ही नहीं है okay true so now this is a spend threat okay that your product or service in the priority of spending of this customer leave important it is not even in consideration that 2 lakh rupees corporate executive happiness coaching तो यह बारे में तो नहीं रहा है तुछ तो यह आउटसब इस आउटसदरेशन सेट नोबडी विन करें आउटसट इस आउटसट इस आउटसट इस इस लाइख की आप इंडिया में बैठे हो बड़ आप नाइजीरिया में एलेक्शन जीतना चाहते हो और आप उसकी तयारी अपने मन में कर रहे हो fantasy it's not a business it's a fantasy so he said इसका मतलब क्या है that people don't need inner work people don't need mindfulness I said भाई तू थाम पहले मैं यह नहीं कह रहा हूँ कि तू अपना happiness coaching की दुकान बंद कर मैं यह कह रहा हूँ कि अगर जिसको आप target कर रहे हो जिसको आप सोतरो कि यह मेरा कस्टमर है उसकी प्रियॉरिटी ऑफ पेंडिग में यह रोग इन नौन देशने सेट तेन यह तरगेटिंग देशने रॉग कस्टमर तरगेट अ कस्टमर जिसके लिए 6 ,000 रुपे खर्च करना कोई बड़ी बात नहीं होगी in fact I would say and this is the actual suggestion I gave him I said target the family members the spouses of politicians film stars okay celebrities because ये उस environment में इनके family members जीते हैं जहाँ पर कोई और alpha है और वो alpha automatically इन पर इतने emotional scars inflict कर रहा है छे हजार क्या उनको तुम साथ हजार रुपे चार्ज करो they'll be happy to pay because they have money they have time and their willingness to pay because their life is torturous and they have need they want this so firstly who you sell to second your product or service in their life in their budget is there a spend threat you have to evaluate that I'll give you another example I'll give you another business example on the date of today में, one very common business that many people start is digital marketing agency.
28:20Right? Yeah. जिसको Instagram, YouTube, operate करना आता है, उसको लगता है, भाई, here is the opportunity, मैं digital marketing agency खोलूंगा. 90 % of the digital marketing agencies, अब आप बताईए, अगर as a digital marketing agency, you are going to a business, जिसका turnover साल में समझो करोड रुपया है, तो अब आठलाक रुपय पर मंद का revenue है, उसके पास आप जा रहे हो, उसको आप presentation दिखा रहे हो, कि Facebook is a big world, Instagram is a big world, YouTube is a big world, आपका traditional business है, इसको online लेके आईए, हम आपके लिए content strategy बनाएंगे, content scripts बनाएंगे, फिर आपकी video shooting करेंगे, editing करेंगे, posting करेंगे, optimization करेंगे, engagement करेंगे, आप उसको पूरा ज्यान दे रहे हो, और फिर आप उसको बोल रहे हो कि हमारी इतनी बड़ी team होगी, एक content writer होगा, एक graphic designer होगा, video editor होगा, content strategist होगा, ये सब करने के लिए we need 1 lakh रुपी a month retainer.
Do they need you?
31:01Yes Do they want you? No Theoretically that business needs marketing Practically वो afford नहीं कर पाते हैं तो वो 2-3 माईने में हिम्मत हार जाते हैं तो अगर आपको एक digital marketing agency बनानी है make it for the top 1 % make it for the bigger enterprise clients or make it for someone who has a bad money and he's saying I'm manufacturing company I'm running 200 crore but I don't know I don't know I just make popular you don't have to it's not a difference in 3 lakh rupees per month so जब भी आप किसी भी customer को target कर रहे हो और किसी भी product और service के साथ target कर रहे हो इन दोनों का match होना चाहिए कि the customer should be the right customer money authority need the product or service should be such that it should be a high priority spend for this customer true यह दो basic principle कोई भी existing business owner जो यह podcast देख रहा है वो अपने business के frame में इस दो principles को लगा ले ना उसको या तो नहीं opportunities दिखेंगी अपने low margin, slow payment, inconsistent sales के problems को solve करने के लिए या तो उसको एक नहीं business opportunity दिखेगा अपनी industry में इस तो आर जिस पावरफुल लिए जिस तो अवरी पावरफुल पीपल नीड तो दो आज़ा है I so agree with this क्योंकि I have gone through this problem and because I have started a new thing उसमें आप गोई थूँ थूँ थूँ थूँ थूँ प्रोडब्ल so it's there's nothing else for me to add because I think it's it's genuinely a solution to a large problem which most of the people miss क्योंकि हम लोग उस और में होते हैं कि हमने तो कि आप दुनिया का बैस प्रॉड़क बना दिया यह भेव कुःव ए इस डिनीए इस पता ही निया में छे महीने क्या कर दूँगा इसके एक उसको छे मेने रुक ठाकती नहीं यह
33:31यह प्राइसिंग उके आम क्या प्राइजिंग में कलती है पहले तो वो जमाना गया मैं जब मेरे packa और आपके packa business करते थे तब कर जमाना क्या था यह मारा cost price है इतना आमको margin कमाना तो cost price plus profit equal selling price जो हम school में या commerce में सीखे वो आज की date में relevant है ही नहीं आज की date में pricing थोड़ी reverse में चल रही है आज की date में pricing की शुरुवात होती है what is my customer willing to spend
34:11चाहे वो B2B customer हो या B2C customer हो हर product की एक perceptive value है कि perceptive value का मतलब क्या है कि इस product पे मैं इतना खर्च करने के लिए ready हूँ मैं दिलजीत दोसांज के concert के लिए 15 ,000 रुपे खर्च करने के लिए ready हूँ it's a perceptive value उसकी actual value कि इसको फरनिया उसकी actual value कोई determine भी नहीं करता बले वो concert शहर से बहार हाईवे के बाजू में किसी बड़े ग्राउंड में हो रही है जो एक प्रोफेशनल वेन्यू भी नहीं है और जहां तुम्हें वो देखेगा शायद इतना सर गाना भी न सुनाई दे मुझे फरक नहीं बड़ेगा बट मुझे मेरे एक परसेप्टिव वैल्यू है कि भाई, जैसे ही मैंने दिलजी दोसांज के टिकेट खरी दी, पहले तो मैं उसकी एक स्टोरी डालूंगा, फिर पूरी जर्नी अपनी रेकॉर्ड करूंगा, कि देखो गाईज, मैं जा रहा हूं, ट्राफिक है, यहां पर अर्रेंजमेंट बहुत सही है या नहीं है, वो 15 ,000 रुपए उसके लिए खर्च कर रहा है गाने तो Spotify उसको और क्लिरली सुनाई दें गे so you need to map perceptive value अब what is the customer willing to spend minus how much margin do I want to make okay equals that is the cost जिसमें I have to develop efficiency to create that product or service interesting तो perceptive value defined कैसे होती है एक तो create की जा सकती है perceptive value I'll give you an example
37:03because perceptive value was like, रे यार, as a brand हम तो print media television, यह सब traditional means कर रहे थे यह YouTube का game तो हमें आज तक समझ में नहीं आया यह लोग हमें 100 ,000 subscribers, 200 ,000 subscribers तरक लेके जाएंगे, परसेप्टिव वाल्यू है, बढ़ गई, बढ़ गई, नाउ, बढ़ गई, नाउ, बढ़ गई, बढ़ गई, नाउ, बढ़ गई, नाउ, बढ़ गई, थू एंहांस्ट थू क्रेडिबिलिटी, okay but जो सूरज उकता है वो डूपता भी है okay now इस बीच में customer will not continue only on the basis of perceptive value customer एक stage आएगा की वो पूछेगा की भाई इसका ROI क्या है okay now for some of his clients he was able to pivot and create more marketing properties for them, IPs for them, and help them see the ROI.
38:05For some clients, he was not able to do it. So perceptive value diminished. Price diminished. So as a business, you have to test perceptive value. Now the commodity businesses, there is a known value, established value. That cement is so much, steel is so much. Okay. But luxury products, luxury services is all perceptive value. Okay. Like, I'll give you an example. I met an architect. Mumbai is an architect. And we were looking at interiors for one of my client's restaurant. Okay. यह architect because he's done a premium Japanese lounge का interior यहां पर Mumbai में and that lounge is pretty famous across the country now he says कि 2000 square feet के restaurant के लिए मेरी fees 30 लाख रुपए होगी उसके उपर खर्चा अलग okay my friend was preparing, वो तैयारी कर रहा था कि मैं इसको 30 ,000 रुपए कैसे दू, okay, because उसका क्या था, perceptive value, अगर ये architect, जिसने वो lounge बनाया है, मेरा interior करेगा, मेरे जगह की भी value यही होगी, okay, और यही दोस्त मेरा, was talking to two other local architects, okay, in Bangalore, अब उनके पास कोई एक, फ्लैक्शिप प्लैक्शिप स्टोरी नहीं थी काम अच्छा था इजाइन अच्छा था बट इसेम फ्रेंड वन थोस आर्किटेक्स वर सेंग फ्लैक्रूपीस विल बी देर फी वस त्राइं तो नेगोशिये हाद विद थेम कि तीन लाग में कर दो का कै तो perceptive value is either influenced in today's day and age through your brand, your visibility your reach okay that is one big factor that influences perceptive value the other factor is of course your track record and the third and the most real factor which your perceptive value influences करता है, do you have the capacity to say no?
40:43Okay, what do you mean? Which means, let's say, you are a contractor, you make a house, you execute the house, the architect gives design, you are a contractor, you use labor, you source material, you execute the house. I know contractors who एक प्रोजेक्ट में तब तक नहीं घुसते जब तक वो प्रोजेक्ट की वैल्यू उनके प्राइजिंग स्टैंडर्से मैच नहीं होती सेम काम कोई और कॉन्ट्राक्टर प्रॉबबली 30 परसंट या 40 परसंट कम में करने के लिए रेडी होगा but client इनके पास line में खड़े होंगे क्योंकि client को पता है कि भाई इसके पास काफी काम है अगर मैं इसके price के लिए हा नहीं बोलूँगा तो ये मेरे project के लिए हा नहीं बोलेगा तो demand generation how do you create that it's simple okay अगर as a contractor मेरी capacity है कि at any given point of time, I can at the max be constructing 30 ,000 square feet.
41:47And I know my capacity is 30 ,000 square feet. I know I already work on 28 ,000 square feet. Some customer is sitting in front of me asking for making a house for 2 ,000 square feet. I will tell him that this is my price, take it or leave it. That conviction will show you in your voice. And customers buy that conviction.
So then serve may be starting when you start you only get smaller projects. You don't get iconic projects which will increase your price. Now I'll give you an example. Agree, when you start in any industry, you won't get a big job. So that's why you'll have to punch beyond your means. I'll give you an example. I was a solo entrepreneur, architect. 27 years old. Creative, very creative. But what was the biggest problem? क्या थी जब वो customer से मिलती थी न वो meeting की शुरुआत होती थी as an interrogation क्योंकि she looks young कम उमर की दिखती है तो customer के सारे सवाल were focused on कि are you credible तो कर पाएगी थी आपकी age क्या है कितने साल से कर रहे हो सबसे बड़ा project कौन सा किया है आपने हमारे टाइप का किया है क्या हमारे community में किसी का किया है क्या हमारे apartment में किसी का किया है and even if उसने किया है 8 out of 10 cases client उससे design free में ले लेते थे फिर उसका design लेके किसी और से करवाते थे और फिर 6 माईने 9 माईने बाद उनके instagram पे इसको अपनी designs दिखती थी जो ये अपना गरह प्रवेश कर रहे हैं now for someone like that how can she get that big break that's the question right I told her one simple thing तुम्हारी उम्मर तो तुम अच्सलरेट नहीं कर सको ठीक है तुम बले बड़ा चश्मा पहनलो और थोड़े silver streaks करा के उनको तो पेपर लुक में भी जाके बैठोगी तुम छोटी लगोगी, ठीक है?
45:10You can't accelerate that, there are some things that are not in your control. Essentially, what are people questioning? Credibility, right? Credibility can be proven either through your experience or through your expertise. True. I'm so excited to see you it's such a pleasure to meet you I've been following your content, it's so amazing कितना सीखने को मिला हमारे घर की तो तैयारी हमने शुरू की आपका content देखते -देखते कि हमें रेनोवेट करवाना है मीटिं की शुरूआत में क्लाइंट की भी भी बोल रही है can we take a selfie अब जो मीटिंग सेल्फी से शुरू हो रही गुलफी में एंड होगी ठीक है दीपॉइंट आप मेकिंग है कि अगर आपके पास experience दिखाने को नहीं है आज की डेट में expertise दिखाने की opportunity हर किसी के पास है बले ही आप 21 साल के founder हो या 50 साल के लाला company owner ये सब के हाथ में है ठीक है तो वो excuse चले गया है कि लोगों को मैं कैसे दिखाऊं कि मैं अच्छा काम करता हूं या करती है वो excuse का जमाना चले गया है true so in terms of pricing to come back to the point we were talking about कि perceptive value क्या है उस में से margin मुझे कितना कमाना है equals to कितने cost में I have to produce यह आपकी operational efficiency हो गई okay so यह third point हो गया अब मैं ही fourth point पे जाता हूँ because यह सबसे most commonly asked question है business owners का मुझसे कि Rajiv how much margin is good margin
कोई मैनुफाक्चरिंग कर रहा है, बहुती कॉम्पलेक्स मैनुफाक्चरिंग कर रहा है, 6-8 % profit बचता है कोई services professional है जिसका 40-60-70 % profit margin जा सकता है so the question the million dollar question is भाई मुझे कैसे पता कि जितना मैं कमा रहा हूं वो अच्छा है या नहीं है काफी है या नहीं है तो इसके लिए the next point I will highlight is what you should evaluate in your businesses कि जितना मैं margin कमा रहा हूं does that fit what ये मेरा एक concept है does that fit the trinity of margin Trinity of margin तो margin के utilization के तीन objectives होते हैं अच्छा margin किसे कहते हैं अच्छा margin उसे कहते हैं कि अगर मेरा बिसनस उतना कमा पा रहा है ताकि मैं अपने बिसनस में रीइन्वेस्ट कर सकूं अपने लोगों को ग्रोथ दे सकूं और खुद को एक अच्छी लाफस्टाल दे सकूं लाफस्टाल अप्रीट कर सकूं so as long as you are making enough money to fulfill these three trinities of margin as long as you are making enough money that I have cash reserve for my working capital requirement and I have a little investment reserve for any big investment I want to make in my business in infrastructure manpower, machinery, etc so the margin is satisfying my business's needs second the margin should satisfy my team member's need team member's need that we have a good financial growth अच्छी दो, salary appraisal अच्छे दो या incentive or bonus अच्छे दो, so my margin should be good enough to satisfy that true, and third, my margin should be good enough to satisfy my lifestyle lifestyle का मतलब क्या है सिर्फ रोटी कपडा मकान नहीं रोटी कपडा मकान के अलावा एक moderate level of enjoyment okay, and enjoyment के अलावा, my ability to save and invest to build my personal portfolio so you could be a business कि आप कुछ कॉपर वायर का धंदा कर रहे हो और आपका हजार करोड का टरन और आपका मार्जिन चार करोड है वो चार करोड में अगर यह तीन अबजेक्टिव मीट हो रहे पीट थप थपागे, मुस्कुरागे सो जाओ यह मत सोचव कि वो था वह गितना अद अधून रहने कितना कम वो था तुमारे यह थेन काम हो रहे हैं खुश रहो और वड बाद ग्रोथ भी आउन दग्रोथ इस कमीख थुडू तुरू थू इस बडिश्णश इस हां माई सिह Thanh Rajshamani है March 2025 में वो episode published हुआ था go watch that episode and we'll talk about speed okay okay okay okay okay okay okay okay okay okay okay
53:35see I'm giving you fundamentals Raj ऐसा नहीं है कि ये करोगे तो slow growth है भाई लोग पैसे जला के भी कमा नहीं पा रहे है तुम पैसे बना रहे हो true that is a big accomplishment in business today I agree and then you can always adjust absolutely trinity can adjust lifestyle come upgrade don't do it and you all have to do it and all these decisions based on the phase of your business or phase of your life that we are seeing any opportunity in business so we have to be more aggressive there business is is going in a good smooth flow cruise control but life has an aspiration कि न्यूजरेलेंड की छुट्टी लेनी है then okay great या बच्चो की एडुकेशन आरी है या घर में शादी होने वाली है so those decisions you make based on the phase of your life business is a vehicle to serve people most people में वो clarity नहीं है कि business एक जरिया है वो business को end goal बना देते है business is just a vehicle to serve people, it has to serve me अगर मैं बिजनस को इतनी हैमियत दूँगा तो लाइफ में घर कुछ नहीं ले जाओंगा और बहुत सारे बिजनस ओनर ऐसे होते हैं हर दिवाली बोलते हैं बच्चों को कि क्रिस्मस में छुटी के लिए जाएंगे Christmas में बोलेंगे ज़ stripes में भी के टाइम छुटी पर जाएंगे, फिर बोलेंगे भी समर वेकेशन पर जाएंगे, फिर समर वेकेशन में बोलेंगे भी नए अब ही नए फैनेंशिल यर आ रहा है उसकी तयारी में फिर बोलेंगे executive year आशाड है, फिर आशाड के ब thinking about the season अभी it's gonna दिवाली का तो फिर फाइदा क्या कमाने का फाइदा क्या गया so I have seen the most successful business owners I know उनका business उनके लिए एक जरिया है it's not the the end goal for them it's the means to the end goal और वो end goal कुछ भी हो सकता है wealth creation, impact creation, influence creation, कुछ भी ओस जरीया बिसन्स, इतना seriously नही लेना चाहिए बिसन्स शुट I disagree and agree it's okay but you started that whole point with phase of life and phase of business yeah it's I agree with that point absolutely no, phase of life, when you change, you can talk about it yeah, then it'll be different में अधिवाला कुछ देखो, Figuring Out में, Startup Founders आके गए, क्योंकि आपको फिगर आउट करना था, फिर Health Experts आके गए, क्योंकि आपको वो Figure Out करना था, Relationship Experts आके गए, वो Figure Out करना था, एक जमाना आएगा जब Parenting Experts आएगे क्योंकि आपको Figure Out करना पड़ेगा, फिर एक जमाना आ succession planning वाले आएंगे उन फेसे इसमें बात करते रहेंगे वैसे भी मैं तो घर का ही गेस्ट वाते रहेंगे next business lesson I'm trying to weave this as a sequence a story कोई भी business owner हो it's like an MRI scan checklist हो एगा क्या क्या हो एगा customer हो गया spend threat हो गया perception pricing हो गया profit margin अच्छा क्या है वो हो गया
I value your value but So build that demand through proactive and consistent marketing.
Okay? True. High demand, low supply equals better profit. Whether it's established or whether it's new. In fact, जादतर established businesses, यह तो premiumization हो गया premiumization छोड़ो sustainance के लिए भी also you need marketing कितने सारे ऐसे धन्दे होते है जहां पर सालों से आपने कभी marketing नहीं किया हो आप जानते नहीं हो M of marketing और आपकी पूरी business dependency एक handful of customers के उपर है और एक नया player आया market में he pulled away even one of your customers or two of your crucial customers especially in B2B businesses यह जो stable business था suddenly struggle में चले जाते हैं
1:04:10so is your business because decision making mechanism change if you get me in 2018 then I would say if you are a B2C business you have to create content but in today's date B2B players also create content in today's date digital marketing agency owners advertising agency owners logistic company owners sitting on LinkedIn IT services company owners sitting on LinkedIn in on content create. Why? Because they know where attention goes, money flows. True. Absolutely. So, word of mouth, treat it like a bonus. Karma market. It's karma. Treat it like a bonus. If your whole business is just word of mouth and you are not established, then you are a dying business.
1:05:08this is what we talked about established business who have been in business 1, 2, 3, 5 years they have not yet reached that tipping point if you depend on word of mouth and you think that's the sign of credibility then boss you can't control how many inquiries will come from word of mouth you can't predict it what you can't control, what you can't predict you depend on it then how are you an entrepreneur you are a gambler then so every business needs to be proactive and consistent in marketing every because the rules of the game have changed okay a time was if your job was good people would have to find you on the date of today there is no time to find people who can see and hear naturally goes to them in fact we live in an era where if you are good at marketing and mediocre at delivery you will still make money which I believe is also another opportunity if you are good at marketing and great at delivery then you make a lot of money but if you are poor in marketing and great at what you do then nobody cares because nobody knows biggest failure in any business is to not be known by their own customers.
1:06:37If people don't know in their industry that they are some kind of person and they are their products and services, that's the biggest failure of a business owner.
1:06:48There's a physiotherapy center, but those who live in 5 km radius, don't know that there's a physiotherapy center. So, the biggest physiotherapist is not the difference. not to be able to sell a shop and do a physiotherapy, it will not be able to do any of those. That's the reality of the world we live in. True. I agree 100%. 100 % and the big opportunity is also in, because at least in the world I live, and the people I meet, many people who are good in marketing themselves delivery in the delivery so the large opportunity is that are you good at name are you good at marketing and can you be good at delivery as well that's the biggest opportunity right now absolutely and then that's one and the second big opportunity which I feel genuinely which you said that new businesses know that social media is through and they are killing themselves and they are existing businesses don't have any idea he is not, he is now in our ego and pride that we are so big, we are so big, we are so big and we are so big, we are so big, we are so big and we are so big and somebody somewhere who is a little creative marketing is very small, he is eating small market piece and he doesn't understand it Nike is like a big deal in today's date there is no consideration set when he is going to buy a new product Nike has written books on marketing that they have written a just do it campaign okay it's such a call to action it's an emotion it's a vibe it's a pride that arrogance didn't get them to adapt to the new age method of marketing now how many homegrown shoes brands sneakers brands so see the beauty of life is that either you have wisdom that what I have today will never stay always.
1:08:57So, one thing I have to do always is the effort. And, life makes you wise after it makes you broke. So, do you have a forecastive method of wisdom or a retrospective wisdom? That you have to choose. So I believe proactive marketing As a business You have to think What we can do So that people Can know about it People can improve our capability So that people When we think about our product Or service They think about it They think about it Or at least ask them True Now that's why You need a level of consistency in the marketing in marketing or a differentiating skill and I'll also break down for you I believe that there are three of the marketing like Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh in God there are three of the marketing of the marketing of the marketing of the marketing as a business you have to look at which one of the three avtars suits you and I'll tell you what the three avtars I believe educators will rule the world entertainers will rule the world and storytellers will rule the world now in these three things what is your super skill and if it's not anyone which skill are you inclined to learn and develop okay I can be a doctor and I can choose the path of education I can be a doctor and entertain people through that and educate or I can be a doctor and tell my story everyday and engage people true right true I can manage a showroom in my family business as an educator where I can establish a different color of the marble Italian marble Turkish marble Indian marble or trends color palettes information and knowledge as an educator as an entertainer okay I can make the pieces of marble from the pieces from the marble pieces and make the transition reels.
1:11:27Or as a storyteller, that I'm in my father and father's business and how I'm in my second generation, how does a band grow? I don't think any good thing. My uncle has got our account, he doesn't have a T for 40 years. These stories tell me, I can build an engagement.
1:11:48so who are you are you an educator are you an entertainer are you a storyteller and if you are none of these which one can you become and if you keep your hands on your hands and say I am 45 years old what do I say in this age you are 45 you are the people who are now dying so think about that that my age has been this is the big challenge true people know what is going on but they will learn to do it they will learn to do it they are not prepared why are they prepared why do they not do it one factor is that resistance to change that I will be like that I will be like that why people know that it's easier to satisfy your ego by being who you are than challenging your ego and trying something that you're not going to be good at initially.
1:12:52True.
1:12:57And the other one is intellectual arrogance. Especially in our country culturally an intellectual arrogance that the product is more superior than product to sell. Look, I mean, simple analogy. You go to a college for recruitment. You keep sales profile and you keep operations profile. Product management. People will choose operations profile. Okay? Who will make money? Sales profile. Most CEOs in the world come from a sales background. sales and marketing they top the category most people want safety marketing and sales you have to show your face you have to listen in operations you can also be able to hide under the desk so most people choose safety by personality now while they choose safety when they select safety it's actually out of fear but they don't say that they're scared like this, they will show it below.
1:14:12This is a marketing sale. This is a manipulation. I'm a good person, so I will not sell. I will make it. You will make it and put it on it. If there is no one who is selling.
1:14:28So, that element of being clear that educator, entertainer, story teller, which skill I will pick? interesting who are you? me?

1:14:45education has been a game changer for me as a business coach to be able to put out content showcase my expertise that has been a game changer for me by personality I am an entertainer but I have struggled to showcase that side of me this doesn't come to me it's something I have to unlock okay story is our story it will be written in the book
1:15:18there's a movie dialogue
1:15:23what's your story so he says like that I don't know which movie we are not the ones who tell the stories we are the ones written about the world tells the world exactly like that tell me one thing educator, storyteller and today this is the way to create content creators but content is one thing and branding and brand building is one thing what do you think about branding so I believe that the business owner who is a business owner who has also brand build created in your business or in that space that person will win the biggest and I'll give you a very basic ground level practical example okay 4 people can be in any industry one can be a solo freelancer another type of business owner will be in that industry survivor third differentiator fourth brand end okay for example i'll give you a story some joe a person is case in point his name is Mahesh Mahesh is a furniture manufacturing company he works in semi blue color low income group his dream is that he has to start his business in life he has to start his business in that furniture manufacturing factory Mahesh is a kursi assemble So this is the side handle, the base, the wheel fix, the cushion fix, the backrest fix this is a job.
1:17:11The salary is 15 ,000 rupees per month. The supervisor gives a job to all the people in front of him. He gets angry and says, he goes to the uniform shirt and says, I said, I will go to your house. I will leave my work. I leave my work. My house is a small part of my family. My family told me that I left my work. My family asked me, what will I do? I will do my own. What will I do? I will be a chair. I will be a chair. I will be a chair in wholesale market. I will be a chair assembly. I will do my own work. Okay. Now, Mahesh, not only a company's name, not only a logo, no no website, no no business card, no no no.
1:18:00I just call my 3-4 friends, that if there is a requirement for someone's chair, I will give it to myself. So, they call my plumber, painter, false ceiling, false ceiling. My friends call my site, office is a 6-6 people, my work is done, painting is done 2 days, in the morning, then they need furniture. Then come with me. I'll get to meet with customers. Something happens, then it will be good. I go. I get to meet customers. The customer says, can you make 100 shoes for office? Yes sir. The customer says, okay, take a sample. I go to wholesale market, put a whole package, put a house on the house, assemble the next day, take a seat, put a customer, sit down, high adjust recliner everything I think the chair is good sturdy comfortable how much charge I can do 100 chairs I put my mind calculation that this material cost is my 2400 transport cost I can add 50 per chair so 2450 is my chair landing cost if I can 200 per chair so 20 ,000 rupees are more than my salary so he says we keep 200 rupees and he says sir, 2 ,650 rupees per chair 100 chair he says okay, do this chair I will tell you I will tell you in a few weeks now there is a story in this story another character whose name is Mukesh now Mukesh what makes Mukesh what makes it?
1:19:50Family and friends. He takes money from his own business. He takes his own business. He takes a professional. So Mukesh takes a place in a workshop, where he will build furniture, where he will build office furniture. Then Mukesh takes a place in a retail place, which will be a experience zone, where there will be a football. Now for the workshop, it's like 3-4 months. It's like people who are in a nokery. in retail, in retail stores, company's name, comfort office furniture, logo, website, company profile, laptop, current account, everything, with the preparation, and with the father's blessings, this store starts.
1:20:40There is no store, now Mukesh thinks, that I will go to market. Mukesh is sitting in his car and he is sitting in his city and he is sitting in the city and he is looking at the building where he is in commercial building where he is going to be a job so he sees a building he is looking at the contractor he is talking about who he is and he is the customer who he is and he is talking about the comfort office furniture we are building a chair and our quality is good our service is very reliable we give warranty, we give a chance customer says, take a sample Mookesh, he calls his workshop, he calls his chair to prepare, take a good auto in Karsubha, he comes Mookesh himself comes with a team member he sits on the chair, he sits he sits, everything is perfect customer asks how much Mookesh's material cost is Rs.25, Mookesh's transport cost is Rs.50 but on this he has more costs he says, I have a salary I have a rent for workshop and retail store plus my Gmail ID which is the name of the company I have to get 1200 rupes then my website hosting fee I have to get petrol these costs will be worth a chair if I have 100 chair if I have 100 chair I will have to cover the cost we should cover the cost.
1:22:13So, he said, $2550 plus$15 ,000 is$4 ,050. On this side, I also have to take home money. He said, I will keep it on my own. At least$45 ,000, I will take home from this project. So, he said, $4 ,000. He said, I said 4500 rupees, Kashmir said, I'm a fool. In 2700, I'll supply you 100 chairs. Kashmir said, How much is this amount accurately? Sir, no sir, our quality is very good. Kashmir said, here, sit on this car. You can go and go and go and go and go. Both are ISI marks. This is also metal base. This is made in China. What is the difference? This is also foam. that's the same thing you sit and see now Mukesh is thinking who is going to be this market is going to be so low
1:23:12now Mukesh is very much 20 ,000 rupees because he is solo Mukesh is a survivor I didn't say that Mukesh Mukesh will not earn money Mukesh will say Sir, our quality is good our service is good the customer is saying i will sell you 100 chairs for that he will have no problem then you will have a phone with another then you will make a phone then take us a day and money might buy me an hour from one to four so guys will say we more work is no work nation you will have to be part time security so in the last 30 of your job plumbing for your job well then he will make my service
1:23:51then hisoke He returns says is he but I will have to make a cha sooner between three days but it will only do your organizational Stay directement I have given myself at Maish my order to the two days Church People call living a chair and put everything out just as well True It's true that any of the banks mention would never have to look at all Since in my life Because 불타 elect Meish and Mukaical is different these two are selling just another product or service like just another business there is no differentiator now in the story of the third character Mandip Mandip is a strategist he is also in the furniture business but he is thinking a little long term he doesn't think that I will make it I will buy it I will go door to door he comes to playing a new way to play it So Mandip LinkedIn videos are you someone who cares for the health and wellness of your employees are you someone who wants to boost the productivity of your employees if yes then stop buying traditional office furniture do you realize that on your team there are certain people who are larger in size and certain people smaller in size so the same chair is not suitable for their health wellness and well being You need custom office furniture based on the body composition of your customer.
1:25:27We are Bodhi office furnitures. We create comfort and luxury at an affordable price. All you need to do is download our app, take a picture of your team members and our latest AI enabled app will draft the requirement of how many large size, extra large size, medium size and small size chairs you need. and guess what if that team member leaves and goes we also give you a replacement of size without additional cost now watch customer goes through the entire journey app download team members proposal when it is closing when it is going to go sales executive calls or calls sir your order is 100 chairs order.
1:26:18We are not a traditional manufacturer. We are bespoke chairs. Like bespoke tailoring, bespoke furniture. So you can't compare apple to orange. So firstly, are you willing to spend a premium on the wellness of your people? Because it will be a product of your business. Now in every industry, are there a category of customers who value the value and are willing to pay a premium? Yes. the same chair Mandeep can sell at 7 ,000 rupees. Mukesh and Mahesh will fight for the kachra of the market. Mandeep gets the cream of the market because he has a differentiator and he has the ability to market the differentiator.
1:27:09But Mandeep's biggest challenge will come when a customer who is looking at buying a chair tells his purchase officer a job is to order Featherlight 100 chairs order does it happen that Mandeep chairs Featherlight like brand chairs better probably but customer is giving his purchase manager instruction that what Featherlight from Featherlight he doesn't buy not buy not buy not buy not buy not buy brand so market rule is this who has no differentiator and their marketing is reactive they will fight for the of the market who has a differentiator marketing ability and who has a brand they will fight for the cream of the market.
1:28:18So, to answer your question, should a business focus on building a brand? Absolutely. 100%. The good news is, in a micro-small-medium enterprise industry, brand is easier in comparison to a large MNC. Coca-Cola billions of dollars they have to pay for branding because Pepsi billions of dollars they have to pay for day-to-day businesses don't think your competitors are thinking about so those who have this thought and that thought consistent execution that messaging is a recall value becomes true True. If you need bespoke furniture, then go to that. So, brand building for a smaller business is actually easier.
1:29:18Clear definition, consistent messaging. These are two things. True. My client was a contractor, makes a house. Do you know what was the positioning? Your family contractor. He said, like you have a family doctor, family lawyer, family pediatrician I am a family contractor so your family your friends circle I remember now he was a member where he gave him 60 seconds every week introduction his introduction was finished your family contractor your family contractor every week his social media post your family contractor his business card your family contractor his sales speech people say I am your family contractor and they are telling them that like you are a family lawyer or a family doctor, I am a family contractor.
1:30:12Just repetition created recall and it created an association that what does a family contractor mean emotion invoke? That it is true, it is mine, it is mine, it will make a house like yours.
1:30:31Simple things can make a big difference. Repetition. to build a brand clarity of message and consistency and repetition but you need a differentiator 100 % a tangible product a tangible product differentiator and the messaging about it because if there's no differentiator and you can't crack the first stage where you don't get a differentiator then all your effort is dead simple Mukesh and Mahesh are enjoying the same thing because both of them are offering just another product or service like just another business just another business will make money like just another business and will be treated like just another business true why do people not come up from this where they are thinking our quality is better just no differentiator can't think any other differentiators people know 25 years ago they had a attack there was a time where to give a defect-free product was an achievement.
1:31:40Right? So many businesses are being the benchmark of quality. Everyone will say that my quality is good. I am saying that your quality is not good. It's basic. It's a requirement. I mean, that's your basic, you're not a scam. True. And, tell me, Raj, winning is easy. In every industry, winning is easy. Because most people are targeting mediocrity. I agree. To win for 1 % is much easier than fighting for the lower. If someone is opening a restaurant, what is the thought process? What is the problem? That the food review is decent. Who is thinking how can I serve the best pizza? How can I serve the best Korean bowl?
1:32:37The quality of the food will be easily.
1:32:44People think that the food is good, the review is good, the money will be released, I take a house and take a house, it's a lot you say athlete mindset
1:33:03who has it how many have it because most people are running a business being tired just dude, it's going to be give it so I always say this in today's day and age success is easy because most people are not playing for it I absolutely agree most people are playing for survival okay because they are scared from the big thinking because there are 10 sounds don't fall don't think don't fall stay in the time so success is easy get these fundamentals also there's also a thing where people think that if I differentiate this how many people will be different from it leave them, the biggest fear is that if I differentiate it then someone will copy it that's the biggest reason
1:34:08ideas don't make money execution is made but there's a big thing that if I buy a cheap chair rich one? to, I will sell a much for me. How many people like health, health, etc. etc. What should I say? Look, you have a free chair and your money as long as you see. You have a free deciding your behavior too.
1:34:34So if it is a good person ,龈
1:34:40you have a free will of this. for mine, without saying without saying this is a very practical reality of businesses I see this day in day out I have clients from 196 different types of businesses and obviously we have people in the same industry someone catering to a better quality of customer is living a more effortless life in comparison to someone trying to say 140 crore logo के लिए मैं business fair
1:35:22I I've done both the businesses I've done 140 crore के लिए उसमें भी you know we used to fight between me and my dad where मैं बोलता तो और सस्ता और फोड़ दो प्राइजस मैं खतम कर दो and we will do more. And he was a big believer of, no, I have to make a premium category that in this category, so essentially there was, there are 50 rupees and less detergent, there's 100 rupees and more. 50 to 100 was a very small market, people play very little. And his idea was I will make 85, 90 rupees, 100 rupees which is expensive, is not under 50, but in 50 in the 50 people who bought it for 50 years ago i will give them 85 i want to build a better brand better thing and i want to deal with a more premium for example customer and i was like no 50 from the 50 people will buy 100 people will buy this one
1:36:27in three years our revenue is higher than 50 but profit and money and profit three were less at the more premium second and a much premium second and here now in this business to now we only deal with the top 0.01 % and landing them as a client is a much longer process but once you land them losing them also is a much longer process the moment you deal with a lot of people are a little less money, less money, less money in pricing and you do a lot they get too fast they trust you more, they give you more chances they are in it because they are in it and then they really wait for you to deliver and then they go when you don't properly deliver they don't go to 10 % so Raj his thesis is that the customer is a maturity level where they appreciate the value of the value you will provide okay but just customer ko you give the value they don't appreciate it that customer is not a customer that customer is a customer okay that is a fool keep it keep it if you come to the store you can put it on the board and stop the store because Because when you work with someone, don't see how much money I get.
1:38:08You see how much peace of mind I get. Because as much peace of mind you can accumulate, you're giving time, energy and space for thinking about growth.
1:38:27But if you have the customer that you have, who is a like a fufa who is complaining for everything for the sake of complaining and you are going to keep them in mind and keep them in mind how do you do in a marriage you don't invite them because we will come and we will not we will come and we will come to a house and we'll be talking about the marriage of a house. And what happens? What happens in businesses? What happens in businesses? What happens in hypocrisy? And it's more a blind spot. It doesn't look like people. Why is it wrong? That they give a lot of time, support, service bad customers.
1:39:19They don't give a lot of attention. So I keep telling business owners that the business owner who has the wisdom to understand that I will optimize my upside and not manage that if you have wisdom then you will grow but if you are managing your personal time energy down side then you will not optimize and you will not be able to optimize the downside and this downside will never be managed it is a anger it will be a anger you will be a anger you will be a anger you will be a anger so who you surround yourself with is more important than anything in the world
1:40:18customer supplier supplier ho, team member ho. Who first? Who are they? Otherwise, life is hell.
1:40:32This was the lesson in long conversation you and I also had when I was doing the startup.
1:40:41Associating with a large brand, large personality, large celebrity is not going to be a problem. Don't even optimize for that. optimize who are the right people who understand your value and your values match who is way more important than what are you going to build with in your Bangalore office because I'll tell you business collaborations may be a principle I've seen this a lot I've seen this a lot two successful people when we come together that we will buy something mostly it fails because the deeper intent is not pure the intent of both the intent of both will think this will do this will do this will do no ownership is taking
1:41:33so anytime you are collaborating with somebody collaborate only if there is clarity ki who's the primary mazdoor of this business or I will be a primary or a former but it doesn't happen that we are working on the top and our network is good our strength is good our brand is good it doesn't happen greatness requires rigor greatness doesn't happen on the surface greatness requires rigor very few entrepreneurs in our country have been able to repeat greatness Yes. Many people who have one success and then they think we have a good mid-ars and they sprinkle money everywhere. Nothing happens out of it.
1:42:25Very few have the greatness to build multiple great entities. True. Okay. Next point. So we've covered who's the right customer. We've covered what is the right product or service in terms of priority. We've covered price point. we've covered what is the good margin for business with the trinity of margin we looked at when this model is set up it has to take it in market so marketing is important and we've covered one layer above marketing is branding okay now the other layer is selling okay what is selling in selling? selling in selling the most important rule is that that sales is a numbers game.
1:43:18Which means, your sales effort, whether it's direct, you talk to customers or your team customers, whether it's digital reach, whether you're bombarding market with performance marketing ads, whether it's distributor-dealer network, whether it's channel partners in every corner of the region, which is a channel or franchise. Sales is a game that which is the most repetitive effort to buy, the most successful is. Now, many businesses are scared from the turbo mode of selling. They think that our name will be bad if we will be so much.
1:44:12So, some people leave marketing and say, if you want to the customer, then he will come. Now, do marketing to establish credibility, to build reach. Follow through it aggressively with some kind of sales method. What is the fear of sales? What will people think about us? what will people talk about us this is the first time I asked India Mart co-founder Bridgesh I said Bridgesh you don't think that some people will be frustrated that India Mart is still on phone he's like that's our biggest accomplishment why? he said that if we don't work with that intensity with the work so India is not there in India and
1:45:08they reminded me of something that one of my mentors taught me my mentor said Rajiv who would you like to be would you like to be broke or would you like to be a millionaire or a billionaire I said this is obviously millionaire billionaire so then he asked me a question Rajiv you go to the store and the customer rejects you the customer doesn't say how do you feel back then I was like it feels bad so he said what do you do after the store after the store I said then you withdraw a little time you don't have to focus on the store because Because it's a fear that you don't have to listen to the next call.
1:46:01Or in the next meeting, you don't have to listen to the next meeting. Or sometimes the meeting starts, you think the benefit of the customer is not going to say the benefit. So the activity that is happening in sales, it gets dropped. So he said, Rajiv, if this is your emotional relationship with sales, that when you get rejection, you feel bad, and that's why you're not getting activity,
1:46:28I said what do you mean? Why not? My job is good. He said I'll give a simple rule. You can test it anywhere. You can go to a stadium and go to a match. You can test it in a networking forum. You can test it in a conference. You can test it in a restaurant. You can test it in a restaurant. He said the formula is simple. the richest person in the room is the person with the highest number of rejections. He said, test it anywhere. If you're in a restaurant, 40 people are in a restaurant. At the risk of looking stupid, stand up and ask who has had the maximum rejections in their life and business.
1:47:17Get people to give you an approximate number. How many rejections in May? How many rejections in the year? How many rejections in the past five years? The person with the highest rejections is the person who's the richest in that room. So he said something to me beautiful. He said, you can either be a rejected millionaire or billionaire or you can be a respected broke person. Most people play safe in sales because they want to be respected. So true. It's true in my businesses. It's true. It's absolutely true. Because when people look at podcasts, they all see the wins, the limelight, the glamour, the kind of people that sit here, billionaires, millnais, large celebrities.
1:48:11Every day, as long as we call guests in the year, they reject them every week. everyday there are tons of people who reject us a day but we follow there are people who have started 4-5-6 years who have followed up people who have started follow up and do it again if they say we'll see this next year next year we have our first follow up and everyday we follow up and we get rejected by not only let's say the multi-billionaires or celebrities. We rejects an author a day. We rejects an author a day. We rejects an author a day. If anyone doesn't know anyone, someone will be a very small expert. He rejects an author.
1:49:05Every day, we rejects an author a day. And that is one of the biggest reasons why we are here. Because we are able to be rejected by thousands of people on a monthly basis and still be shameless and next month again go out and reach out to them me my team who's in the guest reach out we've gotten blocked by people because we follow up so much and we're still like okay fine somewhere else we'll do something else in that Guru movie dialogue Abhishek Bachchan when he was a tax officer You don't listen to it. You need to build thick skin for success. Most people don't have that thick skin. You need to have a big belly for winning.
1:49:57If you don't make a big belly, then this world is like a big belly. People will be able to get down. So you will, in sales, you need to have that samurai mindset. I say that. Samurais are Japanese warriors. These are the Japanese warriors who, before going into battle, perform their own death ceremony. Because as a symbolic gesture, they perform their own death ceremony. That the person who died, neither has no identity, nor has no ego, nor has no fear. so whatever the thing doesn't exist there is no doubt in it there is no doubt there is no doubt there is no doubt so how will he fight in the fight fearlessly I have died so sales is the same that you have to sell knowing that I will not buy so I have already got the answer no after buying After the worst, what can you get?
1:51:08No. In the beach, there's a little bit of a cutthew, so the money is getting. Rejected millionaire over respected broke person.
1:51:23This is your sales department's psychology. Mindset. Sales mindset. Sales mindset. Some will buy, some won't buy. So what? Who's next? And what's the next point? Last point. Subse important point. In business, you got to be willing to do the boring work. Paise banane ka sabse proven tariqa ye hi hai. Ki jo cheez boring hai, aap usko kijji. Iska matlab kya hai? SOP بنانا process manual بنانا her department her activity reporting template بنانا data enter reporting templates team mentor coach train guide conflict resolve feedback and accountable hold this boring work what do business owner say I sit sit and teach me then I don't understand I'll do half a job then I'll do it or sit and make a SOP document make a process layout make it automate this is all good to go to customer this is all good to go to customer how much you can and how much you can and it's fun to do it in sales meeting it's fun to go to customer that is more entertaining than script بنانا sales کی ہاں بولے تو کیا بولنا نہ بولے تو کیا بولنا پھر 10 alag alag equation کے لیے situation کے لیے script بنانا وہ boring work but boring makes money because اگر میں نے boring work اچھی طریقے سے کیا ہے اپنے business میں میرے marketing SOP laid out ہے ویڈیو کا topic selection کیسے ہو How much will your distribution be?
1:53:32How will your optimization be? How will my sales script be? What will your steps be? What will your support material be? What will your sales support be? My operations will be made by SOP. How will your purchase requirements generate? When will your order place? When will your confirmation be? When will your delivery be? When will your production start? What will your daily checks and balances be? This is very boring. But who has made this boring, they have built a system of replication. But who has not made this, then they are the system. Lawrie is not gone, I am giving a phone. Checked out the bank, I am giving a car.
1:54:17There is no collection, customer has been taking a phone, I am going to his office. I am going to go. I am going to do it. I am going to do it. I am going to do it.
1:54:31I am going to do it. System building, team building is the most boring work in the world. But money is there. I am going to do it. I am going to do it. The money can be out of business. You can also ask yourself. But you have to ask yourself. what is your objective of building the business income generation or wealth creation income generation then do it yourself freelancing don't glorify yourself don't call yourself a freelancer freelancing exciting in the beginning after a few years frustrating marketing okay
1:55:18if you only have a loan of your home then why are you doing so much work take a job you have started you have started you have been taking so much money so you have a good money income generation and wealth creation are two different paths most business owners income generation in the chakra view and life is very low very low business owners the maturity level where they have clarity that I am not doing this in the month of this I don't want to do it I don't want to create a wealth I want to create a legacy I want to make a build I want to make a assets if I want to do it is not just my own work if you take the return of that level then I have to build a wealth creation engine and to build a team building system building team building is boring but boring makes money that's the game agreed nice all the points are crazy but they are very basic fundamentals they are not something which is extraordinary they are the most basic genuine things which people genuinely miss out I'll tell you something Raj this content consumption in the world I always say this to people that if you are such a way that you always listen to podcasts content consume books courses this is a trap where you know a lot intellectually information you have a lot but But, You have not translated into action and result.
1:57:38So then this information is cholesterol. And we live in a world of knowledge cholesterol. This which I have given 10-11 points. After listening to this whole podcast, If there is someone sincere to evaluate. that these 10 things in my business are happening or not, then they will get value. Because they will get direction, an actionable step will be that I will become a differentiator, I will become a storyteller or a storyteller, I will become a system, I will become a right customer, I will calculate the trinity of margin, this will be an action-driven podcast. but if someone doesn't reflect on this that it's happening in my business or not literally assessment doing or not doing for these 10 points and only comment you say basic knowledge bro I said brother your bank account before because comment is the most easy work capability is not Not when you know, capabilities when you've done it.
1:59:05knowing that today there is no relevance he nahi hai kyunki AI kab bhi kuch bhi jan sakta ho knowing ki relevance is zero ability to do and produce a result is proof of capability hang on that's the game success is easy thank you so much thank you for spending time again yes you'll keep coming back episode number 5 with Raj Shaman.
