The other thing is that you don't need to use on lasting basis. You have to do long lasting, right? Now you have to put a lot on hand. When you go and go, your hands are shaking. The movement will become more of your trail. There are so many raw materials. If I tell you where they come from, half the people who stop wearing perfumes tell me. There is a cat called the civet cat. So this cat has a ring around its anus. It is removed from injection. It is used in very high-end fragrances.
0:36Which seductive perfume is used in which a man can apply? Woody fragrances for men, slightly spicy fragrances, fresh fragrances. Which perfume is never used on a date? If someone wants to go to the room and everyone remembers, what happens to be seen? If you bought EDC Odicolone, they have lowest dosage, they have lowest projections. After that, EDT has longer lasting and better projections. Which perfume is the most popular in which state? The Vissal Zahab, the Amberwood. These fragrances are in North and North West. In South, they prefer more floral with a lot of jasmine. What is the best perfume that is?
1:19Most people choose perfume on this basis that it was a good smell. But what do you know that the same perfume is different people on different people? Today's guest is Abdullah Ajmal, the CEO of Ajmal Group. A legacy perfume house that uses the formula for farm to bottle. They grow all ingredients and then make them perfumes. Today we will know what expensive perfumes are really better. Perfume should be taken to take time, which ingredients should be checked? Should the perfume be placed directly on the skin? Which perfume should be best fragrances for the gym? Which perfume notes offer alpha perception?
1:56And which is romantic? and perfume buy time, people are the biggest mistake. If you are interested in perfume or just your right fragrance choose to do it, then watch this episode to the end and watch more about the other group and their perfumes. 2:19What is the best of the perfume? Not necessarily. I won't say that the perfume is better. I think that's why you buy a fragrance. You buy a perfume. You buy a perfume. You buy a latest launch. 50 ml is 300.00. 70000.00. Of course it's not cheap. I know it's not cheap. It will also be cheap. But there are two things. One is creativity. An artist has put his heart, mind, time, he has made something which he believes that you as a persona will wear it, you'll enjoy it and you'll be complimented for it. That's the ultimate. Now, what is it? Typically, we do it by raw materials. We don't do it by multiple of 10 and 20.
3:18That's our business model. Our business model is different. We do great brands. But we use good brands and raw materials. What does that mean? We use raw materials such as which will be limited availability. There will be quality in every place. Vanilla is a vanilla. But Madagascar Vanilla has something so special. Something else. the best jasmine in the world comes from India in terms of volume but there is a jasmine which is very limited available which is in South of France it is the most expensive only because it is less in quantity so what difference is that? the saffron from Kashmir is the best in the world but the biggest is Iranian or Spanish because here the availability is very limited these are all things rose oil one of the best rose oil is India's side but quantity is made of 20-15 kilos what difference tell me in a Madagascar vanilla and a normal vanilla what difference it's all about the notes for you no difference I have to tell you two things I have to say this is good is good, it's good.
4:46It's good. It's good. It's good. There is a perfume. You can tell that this thing is different. It's different. It's fragrance profile. But not just that. The effect of it is that is the most important thing. But if I go to buy my perfume can you see the ingredients in the panela? Yes, I will. But today people are looking for Madagascar panela. Today the consumer is very inquisitive. They are reading and reading. They are not saying that you are buying. They are not saying that you are going to suit yourself. No, they talk about it. Good salespeople should know the product. They should say that if we have a day, or if it is a rose from someone, or if it is a rose, then what is a special thing?
5:45It is a rose from the same thing. It's how ritualistic do you appreciate fragrances? It's art. Because at the end of the day, raw materials is what makes it either cheap or expensive. This is very technical for me. Tell me, I'm a basic consumer. I don't want to buy perfume. I'm buying these 500 rupees online. I'm doing the same smell.
6:12do it
6:19so why i have a difference what difference is two things you get support
6:52It tastes more they
7:31거기 murfr Aitsis 50 % of our customers, for example, they know that Ajmal is all about quality. Then we ask our high net worth questions that we have asked how composition is. One time ago, you were just listening to it. Today, where India is, is the value driven? What is the question? How long is it? Trust me, we should not buy fragrance on the basis. Really? Nothing. I'll tell you why. I can make a perfume for 50 rupees today, which can last two days. Because there are so many synthetic boosters. What is a DO, yaar? In DO, there's 3 % of the dosage. Perfume. Actual perfume. Why does it last for a whole day?
8:23It's also in such areas where you have to get a drink. Because it's like a ingredients that are given. Very cheap. But they prolong the effect. synthetic. Now you've gone to the next level. Now for example, like in 50 RMs perfume, what can you do? Frankly speaking, raw materials prices, they've made a little bit. They've made a little bit. They've made a little bit. Literally, in our house, there's no offense to anybody. 50 RMs fragrance, you can buy a water. There are such brands. But if you do two days, because when I go to work long long and don't infer alone, then I have a normal customer every time.
9:08I go to the office to go to 1 hour and I have to take train or taxi, then I host a house. During me, then I NYU would go to work Одесс and苦 in my office. It would be done as my job behind for 5 rupees or 12 rupees. Why would I thrash Fp you? Oh, fucking aula. Fucking. Look at this point. There is... HowYou... So... Has no your rule. That you have 5000. It is so much for the like. In a period of time... Ha! Freaking two things. You can make yourself own taste. You can learn yourself. If you have some. For example... Shokanth. sink. Now where we are. For example... Some years ago, there's loc sigh of whoever could include...
9:54our prospects, our first meal comes to an issue, they go to an interval, that does take care for the Throughout Home endpoint. Everyone always needs your delight function, because a year came toτε full meal. Some years ago, people we applied to thisicios drive with gua products, months, days will come, no matter todal been. Now, you are reading fragrance. Now, ritual shops increase, okae? you need a functional perfume which is not a whole day, no problem. There is no wrong thing. And today's perfume is mostly raw materials, all tested. Unless you have an allergy, then it's a different thing. Then you start to learn from a time.
10:42Now you can learn new analyses during this Cold-events
10:56Going to the next level of education Department of Turkish What do you say? How many blogs will be able to study it? Test them. Note something. At the same time, industry is also being educated. You go to Sephora. One time when you go to shopper stop, it's just a new thing. This is new. That was the selling point. Today, we feel in conversation. We tell them what is special. And of course, India in lasting can be a part of India. India in lasting can be a part of frankly speaking here weather is a good fragrance which are not lasting. Then it happens European brand lasting and not and not they are bad but they are good raw materials but here last for formulation to make and tweak to make so we India which product
12:20Yes.
12:36not only appreciate when you reach one level. I appreciate this. For example, today the trend beast mode fragrances. Okay. What do you mean? Beast mode means that here you put your office side of your own. Okay. I'll tell you Very interesting. thing, trends are changing. Personally however, my rujhav is what I call second skin fragrances. It's so intimate that my fragrance is completely intimate. I have a hug. It's good for me. It's so happened because I have been gone through that. Now I have been doing this. Now I have been where I'm reaching out, where I truly truly I really need appreciation.
13:32I'm not sure that I'm going to get it. But what I'll get, I'll say that I'm not going to get it. There are things that I'm going to get. I'll say that I'm going to evaluate. Of course, I'm going to trade. Let's take a consumer. Consumer today is so sad that I know that I know. I know marketers have written. Rose de Mai, for example, In South of France, it's one place. And it's only May. Obviously, the price increases. But you learn to appreciate it. Would you call perfume shock? Look, when you start with basic, it's functional. After one time, you start to appreciate it. That's when you realize that you're getting better.
14:22And you realize truly, truly, when you are, it is ritualistic, When you start learning about it. Look at COVID. COVID-19 basically said in my career. Our industry has suffered. In my career we will get vulnerable. Is it right? The same thing is that taking USD to be smaller Another thing is that if COVID-19 came away, there was a sense of smell passed away. I thought it was the biggest threat. Mine, I papers. I'm personally dead of my dailyday roti. It rubberlledаж. I said, the problem was 6 months ago. My husband had been 6 months ago. I couldn't get anything. I said, my husband will be very much.
15:04But would you believe that in COVID-19, big brands have increased sales. Our online sales have increased 10 times. Guess why? Because, look how important a psychology is. And nobody has thought about it. یہ ہوگا. یہ صرف اس لیے ہوا کیونکہ consumers بعد میں جب research نکلی تو consumers نے یہ بولا کہ یہ ہی ایک connect تھا ہمارا باہر کی دنیا سے. So people were applying perfume They were putting perfume at home Of course اتنا نہیں لگاتے تھے یہ تھوڑا سا لگا لیتے تھے تاکہ ان کو ایک feel آئے اچھا ایک اور چیز اس نے بہت بکھا home fragrances کیونکہ آپ گھر پہ زیادہ رہ رہے تھے تو آپ نے at least So, typically if you were using a candle before the first candle, then you would like to use three candles, then at least the feeling of the atmosphere is different.
15:59At this time, think about that when people were to drink, people thought that fragrance is the only thing that gets me to connect with the world. So, it's so important to know the sense of smell and we have all senses. We do a lot. We get all senses from the street. We must share this with some senses at all times. Theitated about the spirit of suspense is concerned. The details of this thing we must share our knowledge. We Khalgaha. ... Breeze Nay. It was a anecdote I mentioned. Because they said, 해외 어떻게 is supposed to do it? And now they killed by smoke bombs. mownta hai, unko chahiye tha kai koji aisi chiz, stink bomb kye ho phaking ghe, kisi ko nukstan bhi nai ho ga, rho disperse ho jayenge.
16:52Dess sal unho nne kam kiya, lekin unko eek aisasa chiz naihi mila joh koji na koji culture mein usko offensive manana nai jata. Har perfume kisi na kisi culture. Nye, nye, har smell. Aaj tum dekh lo, aapne bombay mein, okay, bombay mein, har city ka eek smell hota, pata? Thailand mein, jub time tha bhi, Now we have to air garbage visible. That's all the time. Obviously are plane casaANEعة now70 Tout Celsius Your city had a smell of Could you do that? Again I feel feel Your feet got your heart called Your head called Your head votre automatism pow your Puis How Met of smell and you can see you can see you can see you can see your shock to the shock
17:44but they know they know they know they know they know they know all kinds of smell. It happens. But you can't remember it. You don't know what part of it. You know, memory is a strange thing. It's a very good memory. Because it's a neuroscience explanation. Yeah. Olfactory bulb. Yeah. It's that you can't remember it. So you smell the limbic system etc. But you don't know more. Like for example, if you can think that it's like this, So why do they have an amnesia? Why do they have to treat them in this way? There are no studies. There are people who are confident in this thing, that if the rest of the things fail, then why do we try them?
18:43Our sense of smell is so powerful, that if I will eat onions and apple, then you will feel that you are eating an onion. Blindfolded. it has such a strong sense but if you look at the explanation the most explanation that I have read because I am very happy in the perfumes so I like it a lot and I was reading that there is a part in our brain which is called olfactory bulb so it is directly connected to our brain which is connected to emotion and memory so when we smell something do logical reasoning we are triggering either emotion or memory and every time it gets collected and because it gets collected in amygdala and amygdala is the reason whenever you do something in life the first thing is activated so every time you get something new you get activated two things what you said is so beautifully put fragrance and music Music.
19:53Music I was very proud of in 98 and 88 I was here and I was with friends. So, fragrances are on the long run the best thing. That's the reason why we say our tagline is crafting memories. We craft a thing because we don't just create it. It's not mechanical. This is not a mechanical process. This is art.
20:32Yeah.
20:51Do you like it or do you like it? It's a two-year-old. So actually, when you buy it in the time, there are two mistakes. One is to make someone else smell and buy it. This is totally wrong. Because every person's body, pH level, body chemistry is different. There is a little difference. It's not very much. It's not very much. The other thing is, if you buy it, it's good, immediately buy it. You do always need fragrance in top notes. For tasting rays... Oh, wow. Top notes are good people with the brands. They invested in top notes such as especially. Because in the heart and fear, there are money with the happiness.
21:38Frankly, because they have raw materials, there are creativity products. Top notes are almost 5 minutes. A smell would be different taste of perfume later. Absolutely. A good perfume should be like a good music crescendo. One note goes into the other flawlessly. That is a beautiful fragrance. It doesn't happen. I should sing it like lemon. I should sing it like lemon. I should sing it after 20 minutes. It's completely different. It has to flow into that. You can have a completely different note. But it should flow into it. Indian, foreign world may be most people who buy friendships друз choose dripping.
22:23They tend to rate their fragrance wouldn't buy spaces. What're Arabs who buy in the mood and startups buyers gradually increase but they also rockets themselves to fund their special preference. So this is an cultural factor. A customer downsizer would gets defines It's a good thing. And if you get compliments, it's a good thing. Okay? You're doing it for yourself. Yeah, you're doing it for yourself. I never thought of this. In India, I would wear… I mean, my partner plus my friends, my family, I know a little bit about everyone who likes them. So, I'll put them with them. Because I feel it's good that way.
23:09If I go out with my partner, It's a good way. No, it is a good way. See, there is nothing wrong or right. But mood. Look,
23:23when people are ritualistic, when they get into the mind, I say that if you like your partner, you don't wear fragrance. You don't wear fragrance. Because you're sitting where you're. If you're in a small space, and you're going to sit with 20 people with 20 people, so you should not wear a very strong perfume because you're being disrespectful to other people. You never know. I know somebody, a friend of mine gave somebody an asthma attack in the gym. It was so much perfume. So you need to be considerate of everything. See, most important thing is just because your partner likes it, you need to feel pleasant.
24:10And the ultimate of it is when people say Raj here is. That becomes your signature scent. Which was a trend a few years ago. But now it is. Now it is. If you are able to. So for example we have our signature scents. If we have our trade we can make it. So we can make it. But it is not that I wear every day. My grandmother who has trained me God bless his soul. and our own perfume was the one who came. If it came, it came, it came. Okay. It was a different thing. Our family had started, our children, when we were born, we had a signature perfume. So, we talked about this, that people who are making a thing.
24:58We had a time. We had a time. We had a time. We had a time. We had a pulse point. Pair Lager. Yeah. Here, here, here, here. To me, this is all the things that are Bukwas. Okay? Where do you put it? My, what is it? This is my shock. Okay? You have to long lasting to do it. Now, put it more. I do something called an M formation. I start from here, and then I start from here. I start from here. Seriously. Or, I put perfume on my body. M formation for? M formation. for long lasting I like it so you put a lot you put enough all over your body then I put around the neck and the back I don't put here here here I like to put if I'm wearing something half sleeve I also like to put a lot on my hand because I move my hands a lot when I talk when we go we raise our hands the same hand the same hand the same fragrance will become the same fragrance it will become the same fragrance certain fragrances because their diffusion is a goal.
26:06In this area, people will only drink so many fragrances. And some fragrances are like you to leave it on the trail. It's called a siyash. In GCC, in Arabs, one perfume, our loyal, for example, our ex-brand, our loyal, a little latest, which is untold, aristocrat, wissal dhab. These are very heavily followed fragrances and strong loyalty. People don't buy one. Three people buy one. For one, for the car, for the office. You'd be surprised if the car is the most quickly. Now you would think, why is it? Because as a customer told us, it was our wood fragrance. It would have cost about, I don't know, So, it will be about 50 ,000 rupees.
26:57And 30 ml. Small quantity. But amazing. Superior Oud, single grade, etc. So, it came once and it was numbered. It was a limited edition. It was only 2 ,000 pieces. And they were all filled in big hand-cut crystal bottles. So, I called the Incharge. I said, sir, there's a customer. He said, this is our download. that I have a bottle of water. I just need to ask for perfume. I asked for it. I asked for why. He said that my friends are very bad. I have a car with perfume. I have a bottle of water. If I put it in a bottle of water, then I will see it. I have no idea. If I put it in a bottle, I will not put it in glove box.
27:45I will put it in side. So I will see it and put it in it. So this is also an issue with some people. So in the Gulf, the average Arab, the GCC Arab uses five times more fragrance than any other counterpart. Western counterpart. An average Indian person does what does it do? He goes out in the morning and goes out in the shower and goes out in the morning. Or then he goes out in the office and goes back to the office. Particularly ladies. One or two times. Two times. Max. India is my friend of the economy. When I started researching here, he said that if you have put India into a country, you will fail.
28:25It's the United States of India. Where there are 200 kilometers of the flavor and recipe changes, you cannot see the full country. If you tell me, Raj, Abdullah make me a perfume, I want to launch in the US. I'm launching in 6 months, one male and a female. I will give you so many options and 90 % of them will succeed. Because you can pigeonhole their taste. You can say that the typical type of fragrance which will be in America is this and this. In our country, we love rose, we hate jasmine, we love jasmine and we hate jasmine. So I had to travel around the country eating the food. Food has a big, big, big role to play.
29:14Yes, sir. You can put certain kind of notes in a fragrance where it doesn't feel offensive. But the customer cannot tell you why it feels offensive. Why it feels offensive, I'll tell you. One time ago, when they said, I need fresh fragrance. Everyone says, what is it? I need fresh fragrance. fresh variations if you say I'm going to make a fresh fragrance I'll say okay so you want watery because watery and fresh there is also I'll show this and this so now we've said now Raja decided I'll make a watery type aqua I'll ask which type aqua I'll ask waterfall water water water water water water, you need water, you need water in the water, you need water in the sea, or the seaweed in the water, or the dew that sits on a tree, that type of you'll go mad.

30:29So therefore, for example, many fresh fragrances can't perform very well in areas where they don't eat non-vegetarian food. because it's intentionally an ingredient that's called cologne they put it it's hugely successful around the world but people don't realize that it's a fishy kind smell which is subconscious but consciously you say it's a weird smell where you are vegetarian there a cologne doesn't do it? No no it's because cologne is very clean colognes are clean they're bergamot lemon mandarin those things but you said something no no there are certain elements if they are put in certain ingredients they will not be able to relate nobody will say that this is the kind of delicious I mean even I would not want to wear a fragrance that smells like a fish market nobody would but even offensive smells have a very special element that gives a note like eggs people who eat eggs they know there is a smell to it but it is camouflage it can give there are so many raw materials if I tell you where they come from half the people will stop wearing perfumes tell me tell me what I do they are offensive like so and these are very expensive fragrances very expensive fragrances there is a cat called the civet cat this one famous is the the coffee poop yes So this cat has a ring around its anus.
32:11And there is a civet which is an enzyme which is removed from the injection. They are bred and this is what that and it goes to the perfumery industry. It is used in very high-end fragrances to make it really smell rich and long. Cat's anus is a ring. is removed from that. Because it is an expensive raw material and it's a superb raw material to use to give it richness. This is one example. I know about whale vomit. Whale vomit is ambergris but that is not officially, that's not legally allowed anymore. In a period of time, but I'll tell you something. Amazing. I mean, we used it all. The fragrances which were ambergris used, oh my god, and it's an ambiance.
33:10People like to wear fragrances. It means that you have to go to 10 feet. You have to drink your room when you enter. You're actually the asshole of the cat. I always wonder, who was the first guy who came up with this idea that you have to take a baby's mouth and you have to use juice from there. You will use it in a good way. And it's expensive? Of course. Very expensive. It is expensive. But now since they've started breeding them, now it has become a lot lower. But it's again, see, you don't use too much of it as well. Because they are very, very potent. You spoke about something which said, where you said, In India, people use different types of perfumes in every state.
33:50Tell me, because you sell a lot in India. Tell me, in some states that are popular, which perfume is the most popular. Give me some examples of some states. North, South, East, West basic So for example our perfume Visal Zahab Amberwood These fragrances North and North West Punjab side Delhi side These very popular crazy popular Okay North, North East it goes South because South they prefer more floral These are not so much floral They're more woody fragrances, sweeter fragrances, but floral, not jasmini. These are different type of floral fragrances. Berries, fruity fragrances. Mostly north, northwest.
34:46Northeast, surprisingly, is a very, very interesting market. You don't think about them because they don't get mentioned so much in the news as such. But it is a very important market for us. Some of the best fragrances and some of the most expensive fragrances get sold in the Northeast. Counter-type fragrances used. So, for example, we have a reference called Amberwood. It sells for, I think, 12 ,000 or 15 ,000. I always get the rupee equivalence wrong. So, forgive me for that. Goaati mein bhaat bikti ho. Amberwood. Amberwood. And Amberwood is an amazing… In fact, you had also liked it when you saw it, the black one.
35:27I have it. Ah, you have it. mom in amberwood is a two that I have two that and I would never say for example pair the two of them I don't you shouldn't because they have similar certain families that would just accentuate and they would actually fight with each other you know it's like in food you can't drink an equal amount of sugar and salt no that's true so it is like that you know some things you cannot mix so there are south for example we have certain fragrances there are more white florals with a lot of jasmine. Lily, jasmine. Exactly. White florals. They are not as soft because even in the south they don't want soft fragrances.
36:10They want it powerful. Even men use jasmine a lot. Yeah, yeah, yeah. In fact, all the new age fragrances 30 years ago men fragrances no flowers. No flowers. There was a rule. Now the lines are becoming blurred. most big brands don't even use the term for men, for women it's unisex, it's gender neutral what difference is in men's perfume, women's perfume in unisex? in typical words in typical words if someone in India wants to do it an average consumer typically woody and what we call aromatic which is a bit spicy fragrances tend to be more masculine Okay. Floral, fruity, these notes tend to be more feminine.
37:04And unix ex can be anything nowadays. Okay. I wear female fragrances if I like it and I will probably pair it with something else. But there is an element of it that I like. And I think that gives a very, I have our own, there is a fragrance of ours called Evoke for her. I wear it regularly. You see historically if you can see these male and female marketers are not made. Okay. They were making sales and said let's go male and female and female. Culture was also different at that time because it was uber male. Now the time has been finished and people are using across the board. It doesn't matter.
37:48A lot of women use men's perfumes. A lot of men use men's perfumes. More women use men's perfumes. Always has been. Why? They feel it is more functional. It lasts longer. In India, typically that's what research shows. More women wear men's fragrances because they feel it lasts longer and they're able to smell themselves. You know, one of the biggest sellers of ours in India called Aurum. You look at it from the get-go, you look at it and you know it's a feminine fragrance. So many young guys use it. And you know what they've told me, many of them, that they wear it for dates and their girlfriends love it.
38:26And it's outright feminine fragrance. It's floral, fruity. That's its dominant notes. And then at the end, like five hours later, it's a little woody as well. It's a beautiful fragrance. No doubt about it. So, now there's a trend which is around the world is catching up. It's called edible perfume. That you feel like you're edible. Like people want to eat you, right? Tell me, celebrity perfumes are viral. XYZ is a celebrity. SRK perfumes are viral. Rihana perfumes are viral. Now many small brands, which are not yet, D2C online, they say that this is the Sharaugh Khan perfume. You can make Sharaugh Khan two perfumes.
39:13One perfume is 10 ,000, one is 15 ,000, and 25 ,000 perfume. That's the place of 1000 rupes. You can take the same last thing, same perfume or exact same would you have to buy it? SRK has never told this which fragrance he wears one from Dunhill which is only available exclusive in Maison Dunhill in London and the second is a diptyque he has tamdao so both what it is mixed does not know in any proportion does not know the one that is that is I don't know. I know that the house has claimed that it's a personal fragrance of Shah Rukh Khan. Honestly, I'll tell you, even I bloody don't know which fragrance it's like.
40:01I've never been close to him, so I really wouldn't know. But I would doubt if anybody, unless you've got really good knowledge of perfumes, you stand next to somebody and say, okay, I can describe the family. Immediately, I can describe the family. Maybe I'll be able to describe certain dominant raw materials. but to recreate it I'm sorry it doesn't I don't think so Rihana fragrance however it's a complete fragrance it can be fake it can be totally it can be and the only difference is yes Rihana fragrance there are more margins because levels all of them there are levels distribution care retail etc if someone goes into the room and goes very strong that everyone remembers So which notes are available?
40:50So first choice is that you will buy which type of perfume. If you bought EDC or Odicolone, they put lowest dosage. Then you bought EDT, it has longer lasting and better projection. You bought EDP, which is what we do. We don't do EDTs. We use at least minimum of 15 to 20 % oil. That will give you a reasonable good amount of projection. Now, however, the trend is X-rays, right? X-ray is something which could be like, we just launched an Aurum X-ray, it's 30%. It can go up to 40 % also. Depends on the regulatory aspect if you're able to fit it in or not. So, if you want that bomb, so one is you will wear something which is the highest dosage.
41:43Long-lasting, Kelly, you can put oil, but it doesn't have that kind of projection. Oil is 100 % pure, not all the international ones, the ones we sell. That's the first thing. Second thing is woody scents, typically, and combination of woody and fruity scents tend to have huge projection nowadays. A lot of scents that they call woody, but they tend to be combinations of vanilla, ambery, saffrony, these have huge production as well. Okay. But they are very spicy in nature. So it all depends on how strong you want it to truly, truly project. And the last thing is don't spray yourself at home and expect the same thing.
42:33Okay.
42:37Spray yourself before entering or refresh yourself before entering. And that will give a certain kind of fragrance. Perfume should be used on the skin, on the body. Most people around the world don't. I personally prefer it because it gives my own slight differentiation and I feel nice about it. But the other thing is, if you're wearing a jacket, put on the jacket. If you wear pocket squares, that's a new trick that is going on nowadays. is people spray the pocket square with something really strong and they just put it. And it has diffusion. But when the same people come and speak to you closely, they will not be repulsed by it either.
43:23You know, you don't want to repel people also. So it's got to be pleasant. So you have to wear it in the clothes or you have to wear it in the skin? Then you refresh it in the clothes. You start with your skin because that's your originality. And then do a little, you know, it's not like not the M formation at that time. it will be a lot more see everything in moderation is the right thing Arabs were hugely strong and they put so much that there are times that even we find it difficult to handle it because then you're not enjoying anything around you what do Arabs like that they are the strongest they are the strongest they are the strongest and they are the strongest that's the thing that's the secret you know I was flying one time and mere pass just mere pass early seat peh ek beach mein aisle hai ھیک ae mein aisle peh beitha hou beech mein aisle hai aur phir us side arab lady hai my 9 ghante flight thi London to India and wo 9 ghante tak wo like smell he nahi gai khana a gaya mein ghom ke a gaya mein bathroom chale gaya meinnay sab kar liya mein so ke uch gaya wo smell is just wow take off till landing that smell was so strong what do they do I was just wondering how did it feel what did it feel so strong nothing if it's not it is the ritual of it it is not just the fragrance so a typical Arab ritual what is the fragrance ritual that let's assume that they most of them do have let's say a maid so the lady of the house Now you know they wear something underneath and then they wear the abaya which is the blackened color or different colors.
45:17So what she will first do is she'll put the abaya outside and the maid will infuse incense in it. It could be either the bakhor or the ood itself. Number one. Then she will have used a shower gel and then a fairly strong moisturizer as well. Okay. That would have a decent smell. Either it could be the same as the shower gel or not. That's a different thing. Then she comes out. She wears her clothes. Okay. She, before that, she may or may not even put a body mist. Okay. Then she wears her whatever she's going to wear and then she will douse herself with the perfume that she's going to wear for the day.
46:08All of them are mostly different. Then she will put some oud on her skin. So it has the thing. And before she wears the shela, she'll probably put hair mist. And then she will wear the abaya. Which is the bakoor already. Which is the bakoor already. And then she might even put some oil on that. because it's dark in color mostly and it will not show but it will have its presence. So how many rituals? We're talking like eight fragrancing rituals? Seven or eight step routine. Step routine. And then that's why they smell the way they smell. And because they've been using these things from childhood, they have a very, very good nose on which will work with which and what they should be putting and what they shouldn't be putting.
46:59Interesting. Yeah. Okay. It's completely opposite to this ritual. One place where you don't need so strong perfume. But you should use all people there. That is while playing sport or gym. Sure. So when you go to gym, which perfume should be? Because in gym, there are mostly two problems. First, you can get up because you're sweating. You're working. Second is, if you're feeling very strong, you're also irritation. Workout at the time and pastoralo ko irritation hoti. So you can't, we all hate that that gym bro which comes to a dangerous smell and all the time is broken. So what kind of fragrance should I use in gym?
47:37So my go-to fragrances are fragrances which is last but fresh family. It should be from a marine family. Just say I need marine fragrance. And don't take any fragrances in the hand. Okay? Marine fragrances, go and say to the shop, I want marine fragrances. Then you will give 50 options. Then you will wear the best. But don't move away from marine fragrances. Because marine fragrances are absolutely spot on for the gym. In fact, I say that no one should allow for another. You should have sensors. If you haven't put marine, then you should not give it. And on the other hand, when I was in India and I was going to the gym and I was going to the gym so you don't get happiness anywhere so that's a different element but nowadays of course they also infuse fragrance within the air and everything they put things which will make you alert and active so they'll put things like they will not put things like lavender because lavender is calming calming exactly Exactly.
48:54So that's how it is mapped. You also mentioned EDT, EDP, Cologne, Extract. Right? These four things are different. What difference is in the perfume? What is EDT? What is EDP? What is Parfa? What is Extract? What is Cologne? Look, every perfume is first. What is Atar? Atar is the Arabic word, Atur, your Persian word Atar, which means an oiler perfume. don't forget that's how oil that's an oil now in the water there are some concoctions that mix but the proper water if you buy anywhere from anywhere it's supposed to be 100 % oil that's your original okay when you add 1.5 % or add gas or add liquid then it's a deal if you add 3 % to if you add 10 % to 12 % to alcohol and water, that is Odette Twilight.
50:03We do it like 15 % to 20 % to 22 % to take it as Odette Perfum. EDP. EDP. Then there is, there is a problem here that you go online, you will get three different definitions. But I'm telling you, what I've learned, Okay. Okay. And what we do, what we practice. Then extra, parfum, intense parfum. So many new names are coming. 40 and above or 30 and above. 30 and above. Okay. Mostly, mostly, no one does. Some brands have claimed that they're using 46, 50, 52. We will also do it. But I don't believe that we've reached the level where even our, because again our predominant clientele that is the same as their usage ritual that they can do it.
50:57But tell me if I put 5 % of the weight and the weight of 30 % there is a difference in elasticity. Oh of course. 5 % of the EDT, the cologne, I mean if it's a pure cologne, 15 minutes. Oh. Yeah, unless it has been made. Unless it is made something very specific. So, for example, I created something and I'm very proud of it. I would like to mention it. It's called Eau de Oud, Water of Oud. I love colognes, but I also love Oud. And both of them are completely different opposites of the spectrum. It's still not available in India, but I think it will come soon. 16 years it took me to make it. In my opinion, it is the absolute perfect balance of freshness and oud.
51:53So in my mind, it is this guy who's standing in Capri or South of France, who's going to be able to wear it, feel fresh, not offend anybody around him, and yet have that little richness of oud in it. So lower the dosage, lower it will last. and typically that's your let's make it more easier if I buy EDT how much time do I do it? so again EDT's it depends on the formulation but let's say 6 hours 4-6 hours okay EDP EDP when we do our testing lab testing anything less than 24 hours is not acceptable but when you wear it you are outside obviously it's different say 8 hours six to eight hours should be some of them last twelve hours some of them even last let's say you put sometimes you wear a jacket you just put the perfume you put it back in this cupboard next day it also comes so again it depends on the composition Parfa should should be absolutely minimum these all 12 hours extract Parfa these so 12 minimum should be lasting 12 should be their projection be strong because most of these tend to be quite strong in nature.
53:16So whoever is... So whoever is... It should be good. So whoever is long-lasting perfume, you should buy EDC or EDT. No, no. No, no. Just take it from a small amount. Of course, you'll promote yourself. Come on. I'm going to take the opportunity. But from EDP, if someone has a lot of this thing, that I'm conscious about the fact that I should be lasting, lasting hoona chahiyeh. Toh bohut kam EDTs aise hai jho itna lamba lasting djeti hai. Bohat kam. They were never meant to be. Aray, aaj toh ultra trend hai. There is a very, very big brand jinnke research mein aya ki unke paas aise very high net worth clientele hai jinnko perfum chahiyeh nahi jho char gunti se zyada last kar sake.
54:03Kiyo? Kiyonki unko zyada istimal karna hai. And they're unique and they are expensive. And your origin, ordinary Joe who will buy because he tells the customer that he tells the sales that he doesn't last 4 hours if at all if he does that so that's how they have differentiated so if we want to give a perception tell me two types of perception which perfume will be alpha perception and which perfume will be romantic perception So romance can be taken into seductive. So nowadays the trend that we call odi, Vanillic, rosy, saffrony, labdanum most people will not be able to recognize. These type of men, for a guy, so you and I, we wear the fragrance that is kind of sweetish.
55:03That is considered. I'm thinking that in our collection there is a reference which is number 4. Okay. Very unique combination of cherry and leather. And a master perfumer has worked with us on that one. That will give the perception of a lover. Let's go deeper in because you're talking about women. So which seductive perfume is which a man can apply? How do you mean? Like there are perfumes and articles after articles that these are the top seductive perfumes. That's what I'm saying. Romantic would be seduction. Seduction, romantic is very, very close to each other. Okay, romantic, you can wear something a little more easier to palate because it's the initial stages.
55:55So you can wear easier fragrances which tend to be woody fragrances for men, all time safe. Slightly spicy fragrances, all-time safe. Fresh fragrances, very safe. No-brainer. Once you get to know the person, then you want to go next base, then you need to up the game a little bit. So you try with warmer, more darker type of fragrances. But I wouldn't go too dark either. Until you find out the individual's personal choice. If you find that she herself is wearing fairly potent fragrances, then the expectation wouldn't be wrong for you to do it as well. Got it. Which perfume should never be used on a date?
56:42Very strong. Very strong fragrance should not be used on a date on a date because you don't know that it is a good idea or not. So, you should use sophisticated fragrances. You should use such things that you should use in the clothes that you should use. Do a little bit of research online, what kind of fragrances go with what kind of clothing or what kind of, not fabric, style of clothing. Okay. You're wearing, let's say what you're wearing, you know, it's very casual, very straightforward. You can go, you can push it to, let's say if we had a, let's say MOM is, mom is 10. and let's say any musk is, we have a musk which is right now trending a lot.
57:33It's light, light, light. It's very light. It's one. I would say with that outfit, you could go as high as six. Max. Max. You should not push it any more than that because again, intimate area, luxury. Also, you want to enjoy the food. You want to enjoy the aromas of the food. so all these things you need to think about having said that it makes it that what is so complicated that a perfume has to put in it so much you can think about how the fabric is going on a date and going on a date there is no need to do that there is no need to do that there is no need to make a selection or wardrobe and learn to yourself so if you know because you're saying that it's not definitive but many people talk about definitively pheromonic pheromonic pheromonic pheromones so what do you think pheromones inducing smells something happens pheromones in January today pheromones has not proved or not shown marketing stories it's good for certain certain fragrances get a lot more attention.
58:55So you can say, yes, there is a phyromonic effect. But phyromons are such a thing. Let me use an example. One person who is always with a partner, always smells nice.
59:46Yes. Because it's the one who keeps the wine. You know something very strange. Many people probably believe. But even within the wine, there is a sexy smell in there. Is it not? Of an individual. Depending on individual. Depending on who is. Depending on, I don't know if you're not plus 18. It's a great thing. So when you have sex, there is a certain smell that comes. and it comes from different people different. Okay. And some, kuch aise bhi hote hai, joh aatmi ko aur zyada excite kar djeti. Kuch ho saktai which can be very bad or then you feel, nahi har ye, nahi hai. But kabhi kabar ye spells can be very exciting.
1:00:37It can actually get you excited, sexually aroused. Is there a perfume which can turn you on? Or which can turn a woman on or a man on? out. then I already feel that now there's a million dollars on. Three main things. in difference all major businesses don't complain Moving down second - ужас You need to sell one brand that can decrease and another that can work into要 bout other teams. If the rest is genau so much everything, produce them all. Actually, in the world or even when it comes to one day didn't come tightly. If no one wants to testify on perfumes, I will say to them that there is an article called Perfume by Patrick Susskind.
1:01:20It is the most amazing book, perfumery related book. It's a fiction. It's not, it's not, what trade, chemical names and all that, that's not anything. But, it's actually linked to your question, because,
1:01:40the protagonist, basically, hero, he is a hero, he wants to create such a perfume, which he wants to do the things he wants. because you said he wants to do this and makes a perfume so that people make decisions right so there is for this podcast I was doing research it's a research Columbia Business School I'm going to study exactly where it was a study conducted by Columbia Business School where they found out that people who wore sense perceived as pleasant were more likely to receive favorable decisions such as job offers business deals because the scent influences how we perceive others absolutely pleasant look any good the most important element is that it needs to be pleasant so when you're going in an interview a guy with a pleasant perfume versus a guy without a pleasant perfume they both have different chances of getting selected absolutely equal chances because what this says is if I know Raj and if I'm able to then wear something that you like then your decision will be affected.
1:03:02But most of us don't know enough about the interviewer. For strangers it's not for strangers it can't. It's a 50-50 chance. But in the same office if you wear it there are chances. Oh definitely. Oodh was originated in India. Yeah. No. But why did you become so famous in Middle East? Oodh didn't originate in India. I don't know where it was. Our family got to meet India. My grandfather was a farmer. He had to go out. Because farming always has external resources. It has been very much. It has been very reliable. My children were also thinking about something. They had to try something. I saw that there was cheating in many cases.
1:03:53So what do I do? If anyone has told me that this is an Oud name. You can trade them. Who can trade them? They go to the jungle. Then they give them to Mumbai. They go to the Arab traders. They came mostly to Saudi and Kuwaiti. Mostly for textile spices and perfumes. Westernized was in the 90s when my oldest child was the nose of the company. That was when they started it. Because he had the knowledge of both, Western and Eastern. So they wanted to make fusion.
1:04:35So normally, quality-wise, which is a lot of people like Indian quality, which is the last three years of literature. There are four top gurus of Oodhs. They are one from our past. One from Indian counterparts. They are two or three years ago. One from Malaysia. And one from Indonesia. so in ke ilawa itna depth or kisi ke pas nahi hai both in terms of his natural format and the chemical so now to we have plantations I'm guess farms are oot ke right ha ha now we have farms over 10 million trees and everything you have the largest farm of oot right yes in the world in the world so dadah jo te farmer te unho ne such hai yaar kaart saab raha hogar koi nai hai chal I would like to benefit my grandchildren.
1:05:48But they didn't think about sustainability. Community, business. Today, honestly, if we see, we are so big in the Ood business. If we start doing it ourselves, we can not only do it, we can dominate everything. But there is a rule in our family. is. My grandparents said that that any work in which you have employment or do such a job and work on the job, which the society as a whole benefits. What have you done? The town, district has been there. Many people have started this job. Get out of the house and we are now buying from them. So what have you done? The full community has started to get the benefit.
1:06:38Otherwise, We have the wherewithal, we can do the whole thing ourselves. But we didn't want to do that. And today our value system is very community driven. So you know what's the most fascinating thing when I was here to do factory plant. You said farm to the bottle. Farm to fragrance. Farm to fragrance, only one company, that is yours. That is us. In my knowledge. I will always say if you can do something, but... At your scale, probably not. See, I'll tell you the difference. Many of the big brands you have, they have farms. They have farms in South France. But they don't produce. So we have manufacturing.
1:07:27Now, some retail did not do it. We have the entire value chain. So you do farming, you go first, then after processing you do manufacturing and then you pack it and then you do and then distribution so if the herd is injured after a year the herd is injured now injuries how do they have because in 19th they come to the sea and then birds they make the holes and everything injury is the initial it's actually called an injury Injury initial step Then there is a specific worm Plus there is fungus When it comes to it It's like a cancer The tree itself What does it do to protect you? It's a enzyme that you protect yourself And that can cover it And that can cover it But Tree doesn't know When you should Okay.
1:08:40That is Oud. Okay. This enzyme is a layer. This is a dark oil enzyme. That is Oud. The darker, the more the concentration of oil, the higher, the greater consideration and the more expensive it is. So, first of all, you have to buy it. First of all, you have to buy it. Rough diamond. Then, you have to go to those who will experience experience. So your diamond polishers and the cutters and everything. Then you have to grade it. So you have to grade it. Then the other area that you can expand, the oil is out. So the beauty of an ood business, and this is why many people say, this is a spiritual trade.
1:09:32It's not all.
1:09:36So you have to be very careful, knowledgeable. But obviously, you are going to go to jungle, and other things, etc. So this whole cycle, the beauty of this business is one, which has been attracted to my dad. It's that you have to be employed at every level. In the jungle, we don't go to the jungle. in a time my dad and dad were gone now we are not going to go because that employment will be destroyed so you think that people have been who are taking the jungle and are taking the jungle now in the wild in different countries let's say far-reached countries on every level there is employment or money being generated ok number one number two no other job there is no upcycling so if you have for example wood incense کو چلا دیا وہ اس کا اپنا کام ختم پھر جو area سے آپ نے oil نکال oil آپ نے use کیا as a perfume or as a raw material اس کا کام ختم وہ جو بچ جاتا ہے what is called the spent اور why is ood oil so expensive ایک kilo wood سے ایک ml oil نکلتا ہے 1 to 1.25 ml جو بچ جاتا
1:11:04So this commodity has complete upcycling. And you are also researching other parts. I reckon we should be coming out with some very unique things as well. nice so it's one of those commodities which is it's a it's a it's a it's a it's a but you have you can't use the timber it's too soft it can't be made into furniture so you need to be sensible and experience because you are a perfumer how many family are you and world largest Udh manufacturing and supply you guys do it as an independent very proud thank you so if you have to make a perfume for celebrities so I'll name five celebrities so first is because we talked about Shah Rukh Khan so if Shah Rukh Khan you have to make a perfume then who will make it?
1:12:06what notes will you put? and why? I would create something on the basis of his character in Pathan okay okay it would be wild it would be sexy It has to be sexy. So it needs to have a little dirty notes as well. Because obviously it's sweaty half the bloody time. Dirty notes meaning what? Yeah, a little sweaty, but at the same time a little pheromonic. Right? That. A little sticky because, you know, again, when you are, there's a lot of bleeding and everything. Did you know blood has a smell as well? Right? I'm not going to say I'm going to put the smell of blood. but there are elements in it which is metallic in nature.
1:12:47So there would be a metallic element to it. A lot of use of guns and things like that. So there would be element of, let's say, gunpowder in there as well. I remember there was a couple of scenes where they're drinking whiskey and stuff like that. So there could be boozy notes, which is very trendy at the moment. These are the kind of things I would look for. It would be uber masculine. Okay? It would definitely not be soft fragrance. It would have immense projection because, you see, the movie is all about his presence. Wherever he goes, he leaves a mark behind as some sort of itne lash and all that.
1:13:27At the same time, he's got to be sexy enough for Deepika to get attracted to him. So there needs to be notes that really attract women. And those would be, like I said, elements like phyromonic elements, musky fragrances, which you can never be able to identify them. But there is this attraction. There is this rugged attraction to it. That's exactly how I would do it. But if he was in a very romantic film, it would be a much softer fragrance. It would be a fragrance which would be fresh. It would be more European style. If you have a perfume for Virat Kohli, then? He's got that personality, you know, where he's got that leadership.
1:14:16So he needs to stand out. So a male fragrance with saffron, you know, it would be more Arabic-y style rather than not. Yeah. Even his general demeanor. I mean, you've probably met him. You would know. I would make something which would be a little stronger wear because I get the feeling he likes his presence to be felt in an environment. So everything about him will probably be that. But I've never seen him as wearing something very flamboyant like dosanj, right? So it would have to be something else which talks and says, Virat is here and Virat was here. Okay, so last question. Because you talked about unique technology, which perfume will be used to.
1:15:10You know me now. Okay. So if I want to choose a perfume for you, which screams personality Rajshamani. Okay. What do you think I would like? Tell me a top note, a mid note and a base note. Which you will like to see me wearing. So because I've noticed and I know that your choices are a niche and strong, but it's new age. It's not old style. So I would start with some very nice, rich, fruity start. Okay, combination of berries and fruits like pineapple, green apple, this family. Avoid things like melon. Okay, those kind of sweet. This kind of, what they call tart, right? Tart kind of a thing. So, tart, I would look at that.
1:16:11Top note. Top note. There are two benefits to it. One, it will be like fresh fragrances in five seconds. you will be able to appreciate the top for a while. Okay. Then, as I said, like a good musical piece, it needs to enter into something a little warm. Okay. Ambery notes, vanillic notes, not your custard vanilla. Okay. Dark vanilla, which is very rich and it feels on the body. Okay. Add to it some ambery notes as well There are multiple things that can actually aid it I would even use a very, very good quality rose But I would avoid saffron, right? Very good quality rose Which doesn't smell rosy But adds to the richness of all the elements that I talked about So your warmth is there Your warmth needs to be in the heart, okay?
1:17:11And then it needs to be like your personality It needs to persevere. It needs to last and make an impression where people should remember you after you've left as well. So definitely I would use Oud while it is sitting on a bed of very powerful woods. Because I see you as a personality who only wants to grow. So you made your foundation very, very strong. So the fragrance you wear, its foundation should be a bit more. Interesting. When are you making this? Anytime. Come on. I tell you, next time we'll be sitting. I'm our fragrance design manager, Maryam, my cousin who's training. She trained under one of the master perfumers as well.
1:18:00And we'll make something for you. Perfect. Thank you so much for coming here and recording it with us. Not at all. My pleasure. It was really good fun. We'll make it together. But only you will wear it. You will never gift it to anybody. 100%. I am that person with my perfume. Everything else I want to share. Not my perfume. I'm just saying. Because last time I knew that you share a lot of things with your brother. I said, this is one thing you don't share. Perfume no. It's yours. Perfume, in fact, if my brother doesn't want to wear my perfume, whatever it is, it will look good out of my perfume wardrobe.
1:18:37I'll wear it. You'll wear it. Thank you so much for watching this episode. Now, I have three things to do. First of all, subscribe to this channel. In today’s episode, we have Abdulla Ajmal, CEO of Ajmal Group, sharing insights from decades of expertise in the perfume industry. He explains how pricing, raw materials, and craftsmanship determine the true value of a fragrance and why expensive doesn’t always mean better.
We discuss everything from the difference between oud at ₹500 and ₹5000, to why top notes shouldn't influence buying decisions. Abdulla discusses regional preferences in India, common #mistakes buyers make, and the science behind long-lasting scents.
In the final segment, Abdulla walks through the farm-to-bottle process of oud production, the journey of Ajmal in India, and the logic behind scent choices for different moods, occasions, and even personalities. He even shares which perfumes he’d craft for celebrities like SRK and Virat Kohli, and gives Raj a scent match based on personality.
