One of the insights the marketing head gave me is like Rajiv, low car, unveil video. Rajiv Talreja, India's number one business coach. His powerful business strategies have given a successful business formula from 5 lakhs and helped the revenue to 5 ,000 crores generate more revenue. Today we will know how to scale a small or medium business. you can scale your business and your business doesn't start this way you can make a big business all you don't make a big business are you an identity driven business owner are you an income driven business owner or is your outcome financial freedom and then there are some for whom legacy is important do you think that a big person can make a big business but you get connected to it in the 90 days who doesn't have money you don't have to live with me You have worked with me, you know me.
1:08What do you feel? What the hell are you doing? What the weakness are you doing?
1:17Before starting, subscribe to this channel so that we will make a better podcast for you. And this whole show is available on Spotify, where you can follow us. Enjoy the show.
1:36Do you think the concept that a big person can make your business big, but you can connect with it? You can give a lot of big contracts. People will visit politicians because they think they will give something. Or they will visit some big businessmen because they think they will give an opportunity and they will give it a fun. Personally, no. I have seen far too many people try to get a deal, life becomes a life. In a business, a little partnership will become a life. Anything that is not earned will not stay. Look, a value exchange should be in a relationship. Okay? So, I'll give you an example.
2:16I had a client, a real estate client. Grew the business from scratch. Grew the business from scratch and out of his own goodwill and good heart, empowered people from his village, people from his family circle, extended family circle, relatives, this is one stage that they didn't earn that position in the company. They gave that position. And the company grew up, but they didn't have the skill level for growth. So what happened? that the juniors were frustrated that we have such incompetent leaders. We know that what we need to do with our boss. This entrepreneur also started feeling frustrated and choked that this was such a great emotion.
3:10I have given them all in life but they are not able to do it. And there was no comprehension ability. thi nahi toh they got I know for a fact ki us mein 7-8 loog te is level pe 5-6 loog toh aise te they were putting up now a defense mechanism ki mein here survive kiasa kar lo whether mein here value add kar pao ya nahi kar pao how can I dominate and enforce my way with my juniors so that they should never talk against me and in this entrepreneur's eyes how can I survive in a manner like for them the victory was as long as he's not complaining, our life is good. So, it was not a game of creation or value addition and all of that.
3:53So, I saw all of them choke. Imagine the junior level team is feeling frustrated. They are more competent. The business owner is feeling betrayed that I've given you everything. You don't have to do anything. And their ego is not allowing them to acknowledge that they don't deserve what they've gotten. They don't deserve it. You deserve to earn it. People say,
4:34you used a word that there is no capability or no capability but your work as a coach is just this that there is no capability or skill to make a big business or to make a life turn around in that way you can earn a lot of money but you do that you teach them to actually build a capability which is the way they can grow so I tell you I don't teach them I don't teach them the capabilities which is why they can grow their business. I teach them the capabilities which can make that business that is the voice of their soul. Which can align with their goals. Because they don't make everything big. And this realization as a coach I also have been in 2019 after 5 years of working with business owners.
5:30Because I realized that we have made a prototype. bana liya hai ki business equals big and if not big not good enough okay which is not true okay why not I give a business is liye nhi start karta ki bhaot bada bana na hai bilkul nahin har koi is liye nai start karta ki usse bada bana na hai kuch log is liye start karte hai kyunki ek business unka khud ka business rena is an expression of their identity now you can look at that as comfort zone. When I talk to entrepreneurs, I tell them that look, don't listen to what a YouTuber is telling you, what a motivational speaker is telling you, what the business media is celebrating because that is not in alignment with what you want.
6:20Like for example, I see so many women entrepreneurs. Okay. They sacrificed a professional life for the sake of family. motherhood because of professional career a stage where children grow up and they feel that I want to go beyond this I want to express myself creatively or I want to have financial empowerment that even for that 10-15 thousand rupees a month I don't have to ask anyone for it at least I should have autonomy on that money for myself now for such a person who starts a business having a business is the victory okay i have seen young students who've been inspired by business at a very young age school college say a restlessness say that they will grow and they are just waiting that they will get a graduation certificate so that they leave the mother back and they start a business for them just having the business is the victory so i realized in 2019 with multiple conversations with multiple people that there are four different end goals of building a business.
7:31Okay. And some people are income driven business owners that if I have spent so much money then my house will go out. So achieving that income is their ultimate goal. That my house will go out. My house will go out. Some are identity driven business owners that just having a business is the end goal. Like some people 20-25 years job they don't get it because they're earning a job from the job from the salary but the day that EMI ends up they feel that I've done for my family in my mind that I've started my business and now I'll start my business just having the business is an ultimate achievement some of them don't some of them don't I had a home-based caterer who came to my workshop once and she said it beautifully to me saying Rajiv I learned so many things and I learned what I don't need to learn I felt a little ego but I love that clarity she said I am happy where I am I love cooking and I get 15-20 ,000 so I get happy that I don't have to depend on say my husband who is a primary income earning member for my needs not like her husband has a problem in giving her money but she just feels like she earned it okay now she goes a few months where she doesn't get orders and she's comfortable with it she doesn't beat herself up for it now you have such a individual if you are on YouTube social media bombarding you that you have made so many crores and made so many billion dollars sometimes you have self doubt that you have to be less no you are not less not you.
9:22If you are doing something like this which is an expression of who you are and it's helping you meet your end objective then mute the noise of the world. So these are two types. Which are two types? Third is financial freedom driven business owner. Some people have a goal whose goal is to grow and grow up to this level that I make a consistent income for myself as an owner not just to go to the house but to be able to invest. In other asset classes. I will do a PMS every month. I will put a PMS in the year. I will buy a property in the year. And keep growing those assets. But you upgrade lifestyle.
10:00Not just upgrade lifestyle. Keep growing those assets to a point where the assets can give you returns. Where you don't need the business. Whether you want to continue the business or not. It is secondary. So you reach a point of financial freedom. So your business is a vehicle. To make you money. And you invest that money in other asset classes. to generate rental income or dividend income or equity appreciation or property appreciation and you reach a point of financial freedom where you don't need the business. So that's your third type of financial freedom business. Now there are such people who are at this level.
10:35They have become commercial property, rental income is coming up to 4 ,5 ,5 ,5 lakh per month. Any family can live a good lifestyle with that kind of money. But if they don't have the clarity that this is my end goal then it will sway that shark time people are raising so much money in your story article was written that I was 21 years old and I was so much value now these things kind of play on people's mind that we are wrong sir, no wrong everyone knows what we need and that alignment works if you are hungry you don't need to be motivated or reminded to do something okay you are always doing what's important to you okay what matters to you are always doing it okay it's just that when you're not clear that this is what you want you allow the noise of the world to affect your psychology and then you start feeling i'm not yet there i'm not yet good enough okay so i always tell business owners ki you first listen to the voice of your soul rather than the noise of the world are you an identity driven business owner that just business making a business for you was an accomplishment in your life great are you an income driven business owner that I have to take that and you are able to do it salute yourself you don't have to be written about in an article in some business media or is your outcome financial freedom that you want to make enough assets the average business owner in this country who's been able to build other assets for his or her family is a hero okay and then there are some for whom legacy is important ki they want to build something that will live beyond them ki brand banana hai institutionalize karna hai and even there no I'll tell you maine jo dekha hai ki anyone who's who's focusing on building a legacy driven business so that the business lives beyond them actually takes care of fundamentals but someone who's trying to build a legacy driven business on the back only of branding then that because that person becomes an approval whore i mean that person then just wants approval from this certain section of the startup ecosystem who's in the news who's in the pr and that that's a great game I mean then you have a compulsion that you have to play in Diwali in Gurdgaon 25 lakh cash and play poker at a founder's house that game is not fulfilling and I've seen people try to fit in to those kind of environments because they feel they are in circles of power but deep down inside they hate it so my job and I always say this that as a business coach as a person who's building a business coaching organization me and my team our only focus is first help people get clarity what do they want okay and i'll tell you it is the motivational idiots who judge that legacy and financial freedom is good income and identity driven is bad this is big this is small who is anybody to judge anybody's journey okay for for a woman i had a client she started a salon she took a franchise of a very reputed brand.
14:07She started a salon in a small town. And the day the salon started, she sent a message saying, you know why I feel proud today? Because today my children, my daughter-in-laws look at me with respect that I am something. Because today I was just my mother or mother-in-law. I didn't know anything about them. Because I didn't study. but I started my salon so I know that just having this business changed the way they are looking at me today so everyone needs money this is going to be that's not going to be everyone needs money everyone needs people are clear because I talk to people my friends have 5 ,000-10 ,000 crore business and they are unhappy happy is, my friends who have 1 ,000 ,000 ,000 or 2 ,000 ,000.000 are very happy.
15:10So both are very different, but mostly everyone has to increase the risk. People say, I'm 1 ,000 ,000 ,000 then how do I go to 2 ,000 ,000 ,000, 2 ,000 ,000, 5 ,000 ,000, 5 ,000 ,000, how do I go to 5KR, 500KR, 500KR, 500KR, 5 ,000 ,000, everybody is just talking about me big. So these four do not do such a thing. Why do people, why do people big why? Why do you do this? Two things. You will see what you see when you see what you see in your way. What do we celebrate? What do we celebrate in the business media? Top 1%. Top 0.1%. Not even 1%. Okay. How many crores have taken and made it. How much market cap is.
15:58so that becomes the benchmark of validation correct that if I need validation then I will make it I will consider myself a good founder when I will get this so many crore or a shark tank or a shark tank or a four media or a Forbes cover or a YouTube or a million followers whatever there are metrics which people put on themselves yes and so that is being celebrated by the masses. Okay. Now when something is celebrated by the masses it's a distraction. Okay. You got to ask yourself what will you celebrate about yourself? What matters to you? Like we know founders who are probably making more money before they raised money.
16:50Okay. And then when they raised money because of the terms now they have to take a salary from their own business. They have to take a picture of every flight ticket that they take and give a justification on an email and they feel not good about themselves in the journey, right? Stuck. So, they feel stuck. Like, I know founders who come to secondary when I was in the secondary and I was like, brother, there's a lounge or fine dining. I want to invest and I want to have a fine dining restaurant business. He's not interested in the startup which he's being written about. He's like, let me take it from here.
17:22I'm going to insure $300 ,000. insure every month that comes and it will go home okay so the thing is there was confusion for the longest time for people and there still is confusion for people saying what is the end goal and what is the end goal and what is the end and to add to that confusion is the celebration of these vanity metrics right so people tend to benchmark themselves against these metrics okay my perspective is as humans all of us desire for growth we all need growth all of us desire for growth but I'll tell you the metrics of growth is not just money we all want it but if money becomes your end goal then two things will happen number one you'll never achieve it okay because money is the output of certain input most people are not focusing on the input they only want the output the input is your skills your strategies your product your reach that's the input if you don't focus this input and if you just need more then you will be angry because wherever you work you don't do it so people who money is like your shadow the more you run after it the more it will run away from you the only way to get your shadow to follow you is to you walk forward the shadow will come behind you most people don't understand it they are in this endless chase filled with lack of joy and lack of acceptance of self so why are you saying this why are you saying this who has taught it school has taught it college has taught it how do you think so why do you think this he didn't know that you became a billionaire.
19:21But he is still celebrating. He is still celebrating so mainstream that he is becoming the benchmark. You are saying that everyone is not big. No. 1 is not become top 1%. He is not so hungry. I'll give you an example. I was talking to a 21-year-old recently. Father's retail business was a father. Father lost money in the retail business. Father lost money. Father's retail business. the father has given money in business after that father didn't do anything so luckily the house didn't have to pay the monthly pressure to rent okay mommy stepped up for him she started a home based business she started a baking business father started helping the mother in the business somehow the parents have been able to sustain the monthly expenses okay that the house is able to get it and they are sustaining and waiting that when he will graduate when he will get his job or if he wants to do his business they are open that he wants to do his own but he wants to do his own so he can help and he is doing an internship so he is taking his money for now but he also has an aspiration that I will get back to home so family knew me so they said can you help him come up with a business idea he is saying that he is going to business so I gave him a set of things saying that think and come back to me that which line you want to start a business line Raj such impressive powerpoint presentation he came with a business idea a business idea he came up with that this mineral water is served in plastic or it is served in glass bottles where it is used to be sustainability in India in Tetra packs mineral water is not serving in the Tetra packs this concept is already in Europe so we can bring that concept to India Tetra which is the company that makes that paper and packaging has contacted their machinery everything is understood how much infrastructure will be how much investment will be everything has been made now this is a 21 year old who has done great research on all of this.
21:48On paper 10 on 10. But you know what he's waiting for? That he's going to come in his life an angel who will give him money and he's going to start in 5, 10, 15, 20 ,000 ,000 ,000. Crores of rupees of investment. That someone will give him crore of rupees and he'll say let's start so I was impressed by his diligence and work and I asked him why did you choose this line his first answer I was thinking where can I make a big brand okay so I asked why do you make a big brand why do you want to build a big brand okay like I don't know but I thought let's make a big brand and we had a conversation where I was just asking questions trying to understand psychology and all his business ideas that he had everything was at 30 ,000 feet height everything needed massive capital everything had great risk and the truth is for where he is for his age his stage he doesn't have a network his parents don't have a network look some big billionaire think that billionaire will give his money that he's our child he's gone billionaire will give himself billionaire will give himself but a 21 year old child whose parents month on month are doing something to go to home.
23:48They are doing one-to-one selling on WhatsApp to sustain their family and this kid's benchmark and inspiration is what he is seeing in the traditional media. Some people say okay that you need to support such children practically no one will add you will add 15 crore you will add exactly exactly now his thinking 30 ,000 feet ideas because what is he celebrating in the media 30 ,000 feet ideas and then when we broke down because his skill set kya hai, uski capital access kya hai, uska network kya hai, when uske saad ye sab jab sawal ki hai na he realized that him wanting to start a product business is a huge risk, okay that somebody has to take on him and it's a huge risk based on even his capability and exposure usma me itni skills or capabilities bhi nahi hai now he came down to defining saying what can I do to earn 2 lakh rupees a month now when he came down to that amount that if I get 2 lakh I can really elevate my parents life and my life okay because they live in a city like Bangalore okay so his thought now from brand to make market capture sustainability to make carbon credits कमाने है यह सब textbook में बहुत sexy लगता है यार okay to now saying मुझे 2 lakh कमाने है अब वो 2 lakh के लिए मैं क्या कर सकता हूं आज की date में his entire thought process to cut a long story short shifted to he said I will join a real estate company in sales okay I will do the hard job of selling to learn real estate sales and then from there he's drawn a road map saying there is a lot of high net worth individuals India say joh Dubai me real estate me invest kar rhea ha agar mein ek Dubai sales agency mein as a as a broker or as an affiliate mein associate hota ho and udar se lead aati hai anybody working with an affiliate with a real estate company in Dubai they give you the lead if you have presence here in India saying ki bhai Bombay mein lead hai meeting karo on our behalf okay there is a lead and you have to sharpen your skill in selling and you have to sell one or two apartment every month and you have to earn 5.5 million now who is this idea is to teach you
26:49see I get your point that you have to look at the big things and just do big things that you have to start step by step but to tell anyone that you have to think don't you think it's killing the dream No, what I told him is prepare for the dream. Prepare for the dream. Okay, which means what? See your milestones. So you're saying ki life ka end goal nahi. First step, abhi tumhara first end goal kya hai, uske liyeo kama karo. Agar aapke paas life ka bhi end goal ki clarity hai na, work backwards, reverse engineer the process and see next milestone kya hai. To is kya life ka end goal ka to sa na ki mir ko hazaaro koro ka business banana hai.
27:30Exactly. and now thousands of crore businesses for a person like him with his resources you know the journey for him is what first you earn 2 lakh from 2 lakh from 1 lakh you will go to 1 lakh you will go to 1 lakh then you will do savings investments you will do SIP you will do a portfolio you will take a state of stability in your life you will take a financial discipline in your life then you will grow in that space I started a business from 5 ,000 rupees I am obviously not going to reveal numbers but today if we have a 165 member team okay and a payroll where the average salary of an employee is 1.25 lakhs in the organization okay we built it step one step at a time no today now that money that stage where i've reached today that money can be deployed in other businesses and grown.
28:23So the thing is this path to prepare for that big dream. This path is important. Ab jab market me itna capital available hai. Don't you think ki log wild ideas bade ideas soch hai aur woh kama kare aur waisi chiz bana hai ta ki wohh jaldi grow kar sakti ha. Dekho Raj joh ap keh raha nahu ki itna capital available hai. Let's also let's understand kis ke liya available hai. you get it I mean you are an angel you've invested you've torn checks would it be fair to say you your friend circle you tear checks for people you know people so that's what I said his network evaluation his financial need evaluation his skill set evaluation that was not the right thing for him now say for example a strong parallel somebody can draw is the Zepto founders they're equally young they've built some but they had access and I'm not I'm not taking away from them and I'm not being the typical internet activist to say oh they're privileged okay no okay but they also started day one on the day one they didn't take a crore check day one they had to deliver exactly they built a proof of concept but they always knew that once they built the proof of concept they have the access to be able to get that idea of the ground in the manner they would want it.
29:55Okay? Maybe, yeah. All I'm saying is, we all have different lives. Okay? We all are at different levels. And some of us have to build our foundation for the big dream. Everybody has the right to dream big. Everybody has the right to play big. But I'll tell you, it doesn't have to be done in a hurry. but here's my my child irrational optimist that if we say this then we don't kill dreams big capability and ability we don't kill we don't do big dreams achieve first we build that you step by step look at the plan the plan the plan the plan the plan
30:54and you feel that people don't have clarity and they don't have clarity and they don't have their fault because this information this knowledge this thought process doesn't happen you have seen me you have seen me I have always had a wild dream that I have to do this and do this and I have to do this and I have to do this I always thought that I will do something I will do something I was not practical I had no network I had no friends or my friends or my skills or my capabilities or my money that I will get a crore rupiah to build a big business never get it and that's what you did you made yourself capable what did you do you started creating content okay Instagram you were at the right place at the right time doing the right thing okay from there you transitioned to starting a podcast you had a true podcast okay the title of the podcast is the journey of your curiosity that's why people relate to you now you took that journey of curiosity you interviewed and hosted the best founders in the country to decode you were asking questions to learn you are not bringing them on the show to hail them as a hero okay so you learned people saw that sincerity in you they saw that intelligence in you they saw that intellect in you so when you started house of x all your angel investors were your ex podcast guests now you did that preparation process to earn the right for a founder to say
32:46that's the preparation I'm talking about people have that preparation that people have that they don't do that people have that they channelize more energy they don't get the result true pitch deck was a one month job but this journey has taken me 10 years yes today for any founder who's invested with house of eggs they invested in you okay half of them didn't even hear me yeah they invested in you because you showed them a side of you that they felt yeh kabiliyet mein mein paisa laga sakta hon I believe in this right so you earned that versus a 21 year old who's just taken part in his college business fest and who's just inspired by reading excessive business media which has celebrated only funding then learning only one skill which is how to make a pitch deck okay and disconnecting from his own reality of resources needs access to capital access to network see you would have some guy from Sobo and you would have told me Tetra Pak business I know
34:12so the realities of people are different and therefore their milestones are different therefore for some of them their end goal is also different now can the end goal change that someone had started that only business was going to start and then from there they transitioned and matured to saying no from there they transition and mature saying property bena nia hamaare parents nai bana pahe let us make a property okay phir wahaan se transition and mature hoke bula ki chalo yaar ab idhar tuk a gaya to a legacy bana dete yaar mujhe yee batau last 5 saal me jis nai fast kama kiya is desh me uski aaj halat kya hai 2021 me aapne kitnay founders ke saath podcast ki is they check their business status and
35:07this psychology business culture is slow who has said which business starts that I have 5 years I have business it's a journey it's not a get rich quick method people have made it a get rich quick method this is why people want to and and aise loog ghanate ka kuch banaate you are telling ki yaar mazab koji bada business jaldi bana hi nisakta banaate hoongay but what my belief is agar kisi nai bana ya bhi hai na usne aise nahi bana hooga ki mujhe zero to 1000 croda 5 saal mein banane uska focus raa hooga ki main acha product bana aung aung aung aung aung aung aung aung
35:59aung but majority of the people who I talk about, young people who come to me and ask for advice or angel investments or even just when I talk about colleges they have to make money because they have to earn money fast so people think that business is making money very quickly yes, that is a misconception why? you know strike rate I know what you're getting and I know the stat also but still on all the children's behalf I am trying to debate you. Okay so here's all I am going to say okay you want to do it fast so get this quickly get your product quality or service quality right get your model of distribution right get your brand and marketing right get your sales process right get your operational systems right get your second line of leaders right okay I don't think I don't think that's why I don't know that Kumite so if a employee is this employee for 15-20 years of a career in job and his salary only was 50-60-70-00 he reached he 10 years but he's 70-70 he's getting up every year to be the 90-70 which becomes investment inflation भी बीटनी कर पाए गलत company में काम कर रहा है पहले तो तो वो frustrated है और वो frustrated है वो अपने सारे दोस्तों को देखते है उनमें से 4-5-2 उसके जैसे ही है जो उसके जैसे frustrated है एक -दो है जो business बना दी है और उनको देखता है कि वा यार big so what are you wrong think that business is a vehicle to accelerate growth the need wrong so money no money money but money is an output like I said so first input work input what is your product your skills your systems your strategy I'll give a simple example and this day and day out when I talk about business owners I say that I think that if someone puts money then the business will grow understand your strategies are bad your marketing strategy is bad your sales channel is not good your systems are bad no tracking no data points no process flow no your team skills are bad your skills are bad your skills are bad your product and service you can make management not to do hiring marketing marketing not to do brand not to do your skills there are many gaps where the strategy system and skill missing and you pay and you pay and you Predictably Kya Hooga Kharab Strategy Kharab System Or Kharab Skill Me Paisa Dahlne Se Kya Hooga Kharab Output Bرباد He Hona Paisa To Buz Debt Ho Gya So the solution To your problems In business Is not Money It's Capability Hum Sab Yeh Sikhe Bade Paisa Paisa Bناta Paisa Paisa Investor Ke Liyue Bناta Business Owner Ke Liyue Kabiliyet payse banaat hai ap kabiliyat se business banao phir us paisa se us paisa ko ghma ke or paisa banao then you're playing the investor game ya toh aapne hi business mein ap invest kar raha ho jaha par foundational capability apne prove kar di hai ya dousro ke business mein invest kar raha ho jaha par unki capability pe ap return kama raha ho toh paisa paisa nahi banaata business mein kabiliyat paisa banaata hai interesting line and I agree with it fully kyunki mein ne mein ne abhi I have done multiple businesses still now right and I have made a business where I have made a business where I started from zero with literally just a phone and I have made something to do and made something to do slowly and slowly and slowly and slowly made a business zero for 10-15 ,000 and I have made a business where I had 4 crore and started from 4 crore and the business of 4 crore business because I thought I would buy money but I would buy 4 crore I would buy anything I would buy money because 4 crore was a big amount for me and that was my top and when I made zero my business was like that it was 4 crore it's just capability actually makes business not make money where I was not capability it was 4 crore zero where I was capability zero zero my many crore and it's just the foundation was very very different because I had a very big differentiator which which I was now believe I didn't I didn't one was my focus was only making money that I could do 4 crore 40 40 400 400 400 400 400 400 and I 10 years and I will this story I will do I had a great deal.
41:44And one place where I was just thinking, okay, I was just impressed by the best way that I was impressed by the customer. How do I impress? How do I feel? So, that he doesn't go anywhere. And only this mindset was different. And I think the customer delight factor was bigger that made my business more big versus where I was making money. So, very simple. When you come back? When you give value. دیتے ہو تو جہاں پر آپ کا focus تھا value دینے کے لئے وہاں پر پیسہ automatically بنا پر جہاں پر آپ کا focus تھا پیسے بن جائیں گے وہاں پر آپ نے value پر focus نہیں کیا تو automatically کیا ہوا نا you are chasing an illusion اور میں اس business میں optics ہی chase کرتا کہ دنیا کو کیسا دکھ رہا ہے ماحول کیسا بن رہا ہے تاکہ پڑھیا میرا چار کروڑ کا business چار سو کروڑ جیسا دکھے and that was a foundational problem.
42:41And that's the problem with any entrepreneur, any business owner who's playing the PR and the fame game rather than the value and the substance game. Okay. I met a a very, very large D2C founder. And we were sitting and we were talking and he said dude, in my life it was a B2B business. in the year 50 crore and there was a clean profit in 10 crore in that okay I had to shift in life from B to B to D to C because I had no meaning of 10 crore because I was stuck and I was stuck so I had a mistake I had asked what I need and I thought I need fame. Okay. That people need to know that there is no person in this country.
43:46He's like, if I see my quality of life, when I was running B2B business, where we were manufacturing, selling goods, and we were coming to money, versus today, he's been on the cover of some of the biggest magazines in the country. He says, that my quality of life deteriorated. हो गई है okay मेरी my sense of myself has reduced क्योंकि I have been I have seen myself compromise my own values to please the gallery okay and he's like कभी कभी मैं सोचता हूँ कि वो fame है but वो fame के साथ joy नहीं है तो भहुत कम लोग मिले है आज तक मुझे जिनके पास fame है but उनको उस fame से difference okay and just maybe just fame because he did before he came to start up conference to feel macho on that day deep down inside void they don't end and that's when they come and say I want to sort myself out at the risk of sounding preachy I will haun ga Raj ki limelight fame attention power significance agar apne ye games khailne ki kooshish ki na ap ye kitna bhi paalo ye dal dal hai okay but value impact and when I say impact see I'm an entrepreneur I'm a business wala hong I always say this to people ki you can't feed the world on an empty stomach paysa banana zaruri hai, kud ke liye paysa banana baat zaruri hai but when you are doing it for adding value when you are doing it for creating an impact, when you are doing it for not your identity but the purpose of the game that you are playing then the foundation is strong okay and that foundation is then unshakable okay so my one of the biggest outcomes when I work with high value clients also is to tell them that in these 5 games you will not have any therapist you will not have any therapist you will not have any therapy sessions because the foundation of it itself is me I am not a saint I don't intend to be a saint and I think most saints are marketers.
46:31So it's not the game. But I feel like growing a business, the outcome has to be create value. The outcome has to be enjoy doing what you're doing. The outcome has to be also be diligent about what you are getting out of it. Okay. But the outcome cannot be that I'm doing it because it'll make me be seen as somebody.
47:03I know people who started something as fame and became famous. I 100 % agree. I know people who for the sake of power have played power games and grown in life. I know people who have for the sake of fame done anything and everything to get attention and make money. But I'll tell you, the I think the message that has to be celebrated a lot more is that fundamentals over fame because that fame loses its essence and meaning some people can play that game forever and not even realize it but most people reach a stage where they don't even enjoy it and I know this is probably a we are also right now talking of 30 ,000 feet height conversation I'm like right now people watching this podcast that every month you earn 5-10 lakhs before you keep that milestone personal income but that's another category actually just this category which you need fame which you need which you enjoy or in your mind there is an idea that I need XYZ award XYZ room XYZ stage XYZ number of followers I need value I need importance so that's what I'm saying and that's what I'm saying and that's what I'm saying he will not listen or understand and he will do it and he will realize it so just the founder you talk about it for example when he did B2B he was earning 10 crore he didn't hear it correct so but what I'm saying is these two stories have to listen to everyone so that there can be a bunch of people who think this is the be all and end all today listen to this and have a question that they're asking them that that you should just do what exactly you need?
48:54it whichever one question you do you need to be able to have a contact with no one if anyone doesn't require anything if someone gets something great we won but anyone does Katy I'll don't Carson hopelessly
49:38मैं जो ठैन आ little liar fundamental maybe they are very much relationship builder or very big capital attractor in some way fundamental just strong fair fair there has to be I haven't heard read know or met anyone who doesn't have anything so you can get a full 100 % 100 % I agree to that one thing works for that individual and they're able to make it happen and they've got to know them very quickly that if I'm going to play my strength I'll play on that and they play on that and then they don't have to play with people but they do a lot of big either play or cut and maybe make money maybe buy maybe maybe maybe maybe maybe they have that one capability that's what takes them there so due credit for that but I'm saying that that number is much much much smaller than the number of people who actually built through fundamentals and achieved their own end goals but these can become big a lot, why don't they celebrate because most of them don't care to be celebrated that's true that's true it's trading and distribution and and working in such a volume, that the four commercial properties are made, like rental income is coming, he's like, don't tell anyone, and there are people, who don't earn one, but EBITDA will achieve in three quarters from now, three years from now, top line, year on year growth, he's like, he doesn't have a difference, he's like, I know people, 1000, 1000 crore of money, yeah they don't have a difference in the world no meaning they don't have a famous but they don't have a child yeah why do you think there's a mismatch between a generation which is a lot of money they are doing a lot of work but they don't want to celebrate I'll go to the magazine covers I'll go to the investors I'll go to the news I'll be famous versus So, they have all the children.
52:11They have the same thing. But they have the same thing. Maslow's hierarchy of needs. So, if significance, for example, doesn't have to be at the father's house, why should they be at the child? Because he doesn't have to be at the father's house. So, how do they do flex? So, the environment of that child is getting around. The father's father has never needed to do that. Now, aisa nahi hai ki anyone who's born into privilege everybody is like that there's no stereotype na I know people who are born into privilege and they've seen that usko zimmedari se unhoney aage bada ya okay and we all know people who are born into privilege aur unko lagta hai ki yaar baap ne sab kar liya to hum kyu karein hum to abhi iska maza u'tha hai fundamentals environment grooming ye sab factors social conditioning peer pressure but do you still feel that young generation which is our generation let's say under 30s right now 15 year old to 30 year olds this is majority in audience which is our generation in all of them need more fame than building fundamental versus 100 % and why?
53:29because exposure is so content people are consuming content and when content is so consuming people has an aspiration built so in the aspiration the focus is only on the aspiration not on the fundamentals that can bring you the aspiration so what's happening is the conditioning is that if it's cool like recently I was reading during the this concert season that as a country we had there were people selling images photoshopping that you are at the concert. Now imagine what level of low self-esteem has humanity reached. Okay. That someone's paying money for that. I mean, when you're paying yourself, you don't feel like I'm...

54:22I mean, that awareness is coming. People are... I mean, it's such a holometric. I mean, you... I mean, if you're such a person, you'll have to take a glacier. Global warming Hone do Bada Jane do Okay Kyunki Woh janta Mardav Is Kisike liye Bhi kuch Value nahin karay Mardav There's no It's It's a segment Of people On this planet Who are a liability To this planet Okay But kyun Aise ho gaya Log It's a question Kyun aise ho gaya Ki concert Pa jate hai Sif photo kishnye Ke liye Kyun ho gaya Jho nahi jate To bhi Photo kharid Rhe Kyun aise ho gaya Ki State and sharing and looking seen or like at certain place or like looking cool is more important than actually becoming a person of substance.
55:16Why is that? It's a lack of again at the risk of sounding repetitive it's a lack of clarity about what I need. People are living their life either comparing their life with somebody else or living their life to showcase to somebody else. And why are they doing it? Because Because in years the generation is like that. No, in every generation this is always a segment I mean people if there was a time where people take loans and take married and take out of their own and take out of their own and take out of their own and today also. Okay. To showcase to the world. Yeah. Okay. And I think that is the unconscious population of the world.
56:03and they become victims of consumerism okay but love you think that which is 40 ,000 and 50 ,000 and that is in line and that is in line and that is in the new phone proudly post it EMI and then you say YOLO you are a victim of consumerism then you are not having consciousness that you are why you are doing why do you feel why do you feel like people are like because people are growing up because exposure to content exposure to people's lives people's lives are no longer personal everybody wants to share you know I was asked to facilitate an intervention with a luxury car brand with their strategy team and one of the insights the marketing head gave me he's like Rajevo, people buy cars and drive cars No buy cars People buy cars Unwheeled video So, when they take delivery Now, you can go to standard template In any car showroom You can go to party bomb Ready Satin cloth You can open it And professional videographer Will cover you And will give you real
57:38okay so people are becoming victims of consumerism okay and that comes from a lack of clarity of self that I need what I need what I need or I need that I can show that I can show or I need that I can show that I can compare compare कर रहा हूँ और मुझे अभी दिखाना है कि मैं उस level पर पहुंच गया हूँ यह जो मुझे क्या चाहिए सवाल है ना अगर लोग ठहराव के साथ इसका जवाब देंगे ना आदी से ज़्यादा बेवकुफी बंद हो जाएगे दुनिया में बट बंद नहीं होगी मेरे और from your claim to my point, it will evolve. And so, your job will be easy to achieve. Because with so many reason of Badi Shadi is that to show stages to show stages this singer came in a wedding someone can eat a 150 dish so see also what you need to understand is this that when people get the chance to show a sense of accomplishment okay car ,婚 ,婚 holidays so they want to show that I have arrived and the sad part about it is some people are doing it not because they have reached that stage because they want to show they have reached that stage that's the screwed up part about it I have friends who have bought cars who probably cannot buy their lives are very outside and they go to this month in a in just think that social media is about show off and post and then they live and live probably I don't know 4 things they don't know what is good what is bad but they do it and thousands of people we all know婚ers also because of this婚ers but someone has a metric that have has a metric that I have acha feel hota hai jab mein aapne dostos ke comparison mein unse koj better chiz dikhah di ta ho baut sare logo ka yehi metric life mein baut sare logo ka yehi metric haa to they know what they want and they are living it that way so but the question is that are they then experiencing their life from an internal experience or from an external validation and the beauty
1:00:34you become a good man. He will also get out of the car. That, there are so many clearances, he will get attacked. Right? So, the thing is, external validation is a myth. Even if someone acknowledges you, that's a temporary emotion for that moment. But, that car is going to live with you. You're going to drive it. Okay? Are you doing it because you love that car? because that was a dream because you love that engineering are you proud of that safety or you like that design or are you doing because somebody else needs to see it it's a fine line okay the ones who play this game they are never satisfied the ones who play the fundamental game they don't need to satisfy anybody they are free they are making conscious choices how can there be external validation free because is jitna I understand majority of the log that's why they are not at the majority
1:01:45but do you think top 1 % top 1 % minority who have power to rule and command a certain place you and me we both know billionaires after billionaires who do this 100 % but there and the thing is what are we looking at? What are we looking at is a sense of wholesome experience for self. You and I also know millionaires and billionaires who play this game in front of the society but in a silo conversation will express their disappointment will express their dejection will still express how broken they are. Right? Like I know billionaires friends way ahead of what I have built in life but after meeting them sometimes I feel like this is not going to be so you feel that if someone has to reach their maximum potential someone has to reach their top level in life top 1 % because they have to reach a lot of people in whatever game they are living in that way top percent can be something that we have discovered so you have to start to do first ask who I am and what I want to do sometimes you have to ask questions in the beginning you don't have exposure to the answer exactly my point so I think the question to ask is who do I want to be because there is no right answer so this answer is necessary here is the problem with who do I want to be
1:03:21everybody is jealous of what you have got but they are not jealous of how you have got yeah so when you ask what you have to do
1:03:42And I think nothing. And I think none of us will ever have that clarity on the day we start. Yeah. But we will discover that clarity by experiencing the experience we are feeling on a daily basis. But tell me how. If you are watching a podcast, so today he has thought that it's a valid question. I should ask who I am and what I want in life. So I don't want to be trapped in a trap. I'm going to do it and then I feel broken. I'm going to do it for the world. I'm not going to do it for myself. Let's just sit down and write it down. What are the answers to me? What are the answers to me? When they do it.
1:04:24I can give a rule. Rule number one. The moment you're doing something to prove to somebody else or to show to somebody else or to compare yourself with something else, red light. But how do you motivate it to do something? You prove it to either yourself or to the world. The actual motivation is to do something because you want to. and you want to because you have something in your childhood that you don't feel good so you don't want it in your life I'll give you my example I have seen I have seen in my house in my childhood in small pockets I have seen boys with money because I was born when I was born when I didn't have money and I saw it slowly so every year I saw growth and growth so I saw losses I had lost every month in a month to a month where I was earning a million dollars.
1:05:24And I saw that every face and I saw brothers and sisters. But for me it was important. I didn't notice that other people. I noticed it. So in my start, the driver was the only thing that I can earn money and I can earn so much that I don't have to be bigger than the other. Because I had so much in that situation that there was so much money in the family
1:05:52So you were driven by connection and love. Wasn't you driven by finance? No, you were the finance, the money is the means to know conflicts and fights. So your end goal was that you were making a place of love. That you were driven by money and connection. You are not driven by significance, fame, okay? Kisiko dikhana hai, kisiko prove karna hai. Nahin. Right? Paisa mujhe isli ka maana tohi ghar mein ladaayi ya nio. Har kisiki ke baas khoshi se paisa raha hai. Exactly. So, now, see, mein koi law of attraction ka toh export hai. Hoon nahin. But mein itna samajta hoon. Kyunki I've learnt a few energy sciences.
1:06:40Mein itna samajta hoon ki har cheeze mein eki energy hootie hai. Or one way of checking your choices and your intentions is ask yourself would you categorize the way you are feeling your deeper intention of why you want something would you categorize that intention as pure energy or impure energy so say driven by love purity or impurity pure okay pure okay and that's what I'm saying have the awareness that you want to do that's why you want to do because it's a purity versus someone saying I'll earn money so that I'll kill my child's head so that I'll kill my child's head revenge Revenge. Pure or impure?
1:07:18Impure. Now watch. Even if you make the money and slam the money on your cha-cha says, your cha-cha says, you've opened my eyes with my son. No. And anger. And anger. And anger. This is the spiral of your life. But I also keep a comparison metric. Sometimes in my mind, comparison is that the amount of my family has made money, something else. I've gained more than that. That's my benchmark metric. Why? why? I think that maybe I'm wrong okay, that more money will come to get happy. Maybe I'm wrong here but for me the comparison matters that if it's more money, we'll be happy to get happy. I compare it.
1:07:56Fair. But look, you think that money will come to get happy. Money will come to get happy. No two ways about it. But what have you encountered such a stage that money has become and you think that no, no, if you have a happy time right so this is the maturity this is the maturity which will come from phase by phase path is pure and that seed but I am doing the start with comparison like if you start with comparison it's a bad feeling so you are what does comparison mean he has it I don't what is your comparison family has done this I want to do better for the family not to prove them wrong small and make you make myself this is not an intention exactly so that's actually not comparison so first you have said that someone who is watching this podcast and is successful in life either he does it business lens or success or employee or freelancer or whatever as an individual people are happy we talk about happiness so first question is that whatever I am doing the driving factor is the impure emotion or pure emotion that is first that I want to make a big difference that there is a problem that I felt in my childhood this is what you said that is one give me three questions with a point of view so one question is why do I want what do I want okay what's the deeper fuel every goal is a goal yeah why question I understand now because I have crossed a stage life but when I started Rajiv I will tell you why is it enough that you have a little praise why is it enough that I have a little money so that you have a lot of that is good enough that is good enough is what I'm saying so why comparison metric 3-4 ways I thought I'll tell you personal vulnerability I've shared this multiple times I thought I'm not enough I was going to go to the room I was going to go to the people I was going to go to the people useless kids I don't have to compare and I would compare to the other people because I was in my own indoor I was very rich so I thought they were good They are good.
1:10:38How much money are they? They go into clubs. They don't have money. What are English? What do they see? What do they wear? What brands wear? All of that. I used to compare myself with them and be like, I am very small and I don't have power. I don't have to tell them. I had a very small feel. So I started to do something so that it became my identity. And start to be like this. But everyone starts this way this is why you have to fulfill a void. Correct? A gap fulfill. Right? But when you started and you started taking steps, you are not doing it every single day to prove to those people. That's an important belief.
1:11:23You are doing it to get better at your game. Yeah. That's what I'm talking about. Yeah, so I would have to become better so that I would have to go to that room and when I would go to that room, I would have to feel confident. Exactly. now but are there people who start after they start their journey how are they looking at it how am I coming across it's all about getting a sense of validation, significance, status and I feel those are hollow metrics I get that but starting with you why you ask what to do why you want to do it this metric my father didn't get paid in my house so I have to take 50 hours to get home is a very small metric or a big car or a dream so like you are saying small metric I am saying small and big no metric is that metric real for you like don't fall into trap of I want to change the world yes build a real metric attainable relevant aspiration not borrowed aspiration most people are living their life on borrowed aspirations Explain borrowed aspirations I have seen it so I think I will do it so I will become cool that's a borrowed aspiration what is for me for real for real I will spend money I put that money on the table for my family's peace and happiness that is real for you most people are disconnected from real metrics that 21-year-old girl who told me why do you want to do it I tortured him to a point that what a business will do I thought I will give this plan but I know that the true essence of a coach is not to showcase his knowledge and give 10 case studies but to help a person connect with themselves because that's what will give them the energy to do what they have to do but don't you aren't you killing the essence that dream big no I am saying prepare earn the right to dream big we left that conversation with him saying you know what I will build a corpus of this much for my family and I will build the capabilities in the journey of building that corpus so I can come back to tomorrow saying I want to build a brand so the game is about getting the fundamental strong Raj I feel frustrated and happy at the same time with people's ignorance meaning I feel frustrated that so many people are driven by metrics that lack the foundation and that is only going to lead them to a spiral of confusion and chaos in their life and most of them will probably live through their life and their age without even realizing and creating something that they truly wanted to create and I feel happy because that's my opportunity.
1:14:34See, you've worked with me. Let's just talk about this. You've worked with me. You know me over and over. What do you feel? What are my bullshit? What are my weaknesses? What do you see as a coach, as an individual? You know, right? I play a lot of games in which which are real driven out of what I want. There can be some driven which has borrowed, like you're saying. Multiple things. There can be right things and wrong things. But what do you think? You can see it. You talk good things. I want you to, what do you see? What's the bullshit that I'm trying to play? So I'll tell you. And what are the strengths?
1:15:15I'll tell you. I think there was a stage of your journey when you started creating content. a stage where I remember having conversations with you where you were like should I play the fame game should I play the popularity and popular names game should I play the numbers game and I asked you a conversation saying do you see that as an expression of yourself and I asked you why did you start this podcast and you said because I was coming from India I was growing a child who had to figure out what to do in life में करना क्या है right so asa naam figure out क्यों रखा क्योंकि figure out करना था बस उस naam पे figure out करते रहना जिस दिन तू bambai वाला बनेगा और अपने indori को मारेगा उस दिन तू सो नहीं पाएगा okay कोई bambai वाला है वो bambai वाला रह सकता है तू indori है okay तू bambai में है बट तू indori right and look at it no with the way you've navigated through podcasting okay you've kept it true to that essence you have Bollywood stars you have military officers you have parenting specialists you have nutrition specialists you have doctors you have lawyers and your question is to fulfill your curiosity okay because you are trying to like I have seen you evolve there was a time you were doing only business content because you were trying to figure out business for yourself there was a time you were doing relationship content because you were trying to figure out you in relationships okay you were like you don't know you want to marry and all of that and I knew in that phase you are doing a podcast because you are trying to figure it out for yourself okay there was a time that now I've seen a lot of your content has moved towards health because you're figuring out health for yourself your family so you've kept it true to that essence as long as you keep it true to that essence there was an odd see whoever thought that you could reach the status of one of the top podcasters in the country or probably the top podcaster in the country without pissing off anybody else just not riding on popularity okay you've built your podcast on value okay because that was your value you wanted value for yourself so you did it with that sincerity for yourself and along the way people resonated with your content i know people who used to follow your work when you were only doing founders and then they felt disconnected with you when you started doing relationship content okay but then even your audience realized that this is why it's doing it because it's to learn it.
1:18:02And you looked at health, wealth, relationships, business. That's the broad spectrum of your growth. So you're doing it for your growth and there is a audience that relates and resonates saying we want to grow in these areas. So they connect with you on that. So I feel that stage where you were tempted to play the numbers game, where you were tempted to play the sensationalist game, And you saying no to that was one stage in your journey of maturity in podcasting. Okay. And I feel, and I'm not saying this because I'm on your channel, but I genuinely feel very proud to see how you've matured. There was a time where you, me and you used to have arguments.
1:18:45Where you used to be like, hustle, hustle, hustle, and today you are like, okay, my sleep cycle, I'm this. So see that's what I'm saying that you've been open to that evolution. Okay. I like your restlessness. There are things that you feel frustrated about. But in my head, I'm like, repeat telecast. This upsetness is important in the life of Raja Shamani. So that he is working in that country. Okay. And I think the next level for you. is that you have to transition to a concept that you don't have to put yourself on the line. I think that is a trace of your life that you have to drink something for something.
1:19:37You have to give to get. Some of us have a stage where you have to do it. One stage where you have to do things. But then you have the habit of doing it. that I will do it, so you tend to put yourself too much on the line. Enjoy the privileges of your labor. Reach a stage where you can be rested and relaxed here. And this happens with so many business owners. It's not unique to you. I know business owners who are habitual to being worried, stressed in the name of focus. When I know for a fact that today, that focus game, conscious focus that is a stage till you earn a certain capability then comes a stage where your capability takes over and that capability does not have to be exercised with stress focus anxiety that capability is a part of you so whatever is going to happen in that situation is a function of that capability so I think from from a bird who was flapping wings and feet both you've today reached a stage where you've had poise you're like the duck okay where there's a lot of poise you've seen a duck okay now the next level is that duck like the water you're putting in the water you're putting in the water you're putting in the water that's a little you can calm that down and you'll see flow take over okay you'll see you'll see the power of you'll see the power of compounding in all the efforts you've put so far and I am not asking you to be complacent.
1:21:20I am asking you to be calm. But don't you think that relentlessness or restlessness is my strength? Cliched, what got you here won't get you there. Yeah, but see, I will tell you how do I explain this? No, I get it. I get what you are trying to say. It's like this. You have seen that video social media Sachin Turnbull and Kashmir were playing and playing cricket and what did he do he did bat wood which grip he did he did with batting he did bat where he did meat and he did grip with ball he did he can hit the ball with the grip of the bat that's the timing he has that's the hand-eye coordination he has we don't give ourselves little credit in life after years we feel like with the intensity with the rigor it will be done it will not but now if the work has done that work has been put and now I feel that what I can do or what I have to do in comparison I don't have 1 % here today so I have to work with thousands of more work in order to reach there the answer is not the answer is you'll have to creatively channelize yourself to build something nobody in the world has seen okay Now for creative channeling The calmness Will give you the space to think The manate will only make you repeat what you are already doing One of the most important Human activity especially for business owners Is thinking When does thinking happen at its purest form When you are rested and relaxed and calm You are not doing anything So what do you create that space for yourself create to stay calm and just think what's my next thing what's my next big creation and please note this is relevant for people who've reached a certain stage it's one stage is effort for the purpose of practice to develop the capability to get the result once it becomes that capability then it is to use that capability to scale it to a point where you reach the success in your industry when you reach success and from there you want to scale out to a new orbit so there is no effort there, it seems to be and for thinking it is necessary now who has a habit of effort for it is the exact opposite so it's like Dhoni that at a time Dhoni was opening the batting for India or one down and he built his repute as an aggressive batsman but then came a stage in his career from a wicketkeeper batsman when he transitioned to a wicketkeeping captain they have demoted you in batting that I will come to number 5 or number 6 because I want to spend more time reading the game than playing the game and that's why he became one of the most legendary captains of Indian cricket
1:25:12but your mind keeps telling you that
1:25:17that's the wrong thing so that's where Adhoni had to tell himself what will my legacy be is my legacy going to be to replace Sehwag and be an aggressive opening or a one down batsman or is my legacy going to be to be Adhoni that the world looks at as a benchmark of leadership
1:25:44so my eye contact is with him yeah just like we did before no 2 years ago 1 year ago 50 ,000 podcasts without me I had to go and get where did I go I did not know I think I will go to another one.
