00In India, there are some skin conditions for children. Fungal is most common. We keep warm in our homes. We don't want to get hungry. And wet skin. It's food for fungus. They start growing. If mother's sleep cycle is up-down, then child is up-down. If mother is in emotional stress, not to sleep, milk will automatically stop. A mother will be obsessed with the child. She will sleep, eat, drink, what happened? After a while, there's a crash. I don't know. In a rural way or urban way, there are differences. Number one, they fall very low. Number two is population, exposure and concentration. And number three, self-drapping, food.

44Children do a lot of drool. So, drooling can be done with a rash? Very common. How can you treat? First is cleansing. Then you treat. If it is mild, then you have soothing creams, calendula based lotions. If it is bad, then you have to moisturize. to prevent it from coming again. There are few kids with a body odor. So how do they go away from that? When you take a kid and take a kid, don't let them air dry. And yes, dry fit clothes, breathable, that is the root cause of skin infection. So best is pure cotton clothing. Why don't you learn this? Because what happens?

22We all need healthy skin. That's why we have a special series we will talk about advancing skin health for every skin story with sensitive skin expert Cetaphil in this series we talked about aging causes and anti-aging treatments and in this episode we will talk about baby skin there are many myths that are coming from a long time and parents believe but what do you know that these habits can harm your baby's skin today's guest Dr. Nihar Parik, a well-known pediatrician, MBBS, DCHMD. In this episode, we will know why the eczema, fungal infections, impetigo infections are common in babies. What is the right way to breastfeeding?

10And how do the care of babies' skin? If you are a parent or a baby in your family, then you must watch this episode so that you don't have to get confused. And let me tell you what you learned from this episode.

28Baby skin conditions What do people think about it? See, in baby skin conditions For every parent One thing is important to understand That every child's skin Is not the same Every newborn Every nine-month-old Every one-year-old From birth to one year Every skin issue Which is the same It is individual is genetically oriented. If mother, father, if there are any problems then it will manifest later. Because if newborn skin has a rash for four months for a child's child, so parents say, Dr. Mary and my family there is no eczema, no atopic dermatitis, how did it happen? Up to 30%, 28.3 to be precise, of newborns or infants, one year, they have always eczema or skin sensitivity has always been what is eczema?

32Explain a little bit sensitive skin means skin that is what it is newborn to one year infant skin how it reacts to environment environmental dust damage damage damage damage damage which clothes is put on it damage It's different from each child. Okay. Skin which is normal and less sensitive, doesn't happen anything. It's a little sensitive, it's rashes come. It's a little sensitive, it's flare-ups and rashes which means angry patches which are extremely itchy. It makes the child cranky. There's infection on it. If the child has the skin barrier that broke and has a rash, the bacteria fell, then it's infection.

27So there are levels of sensitivity skin. One is normal skin. Level two, simplify, break down, dry skin. After that, atopic dermatitis comes in sensitive, which is mylar. Atopic meaning response of the body to allergen. Dermatitis, derma is skin. Itis is inflammation or infection. so sensitive skin to allergens okay its most severe form is eczema which is long lasting it has a chance of infection recurrence eczema means patches which are what we call three basic phases one is a flare up lal, moist and angry looking it's a lot of anger waiting to, you feel like the skin is burning that's what you see you can call it that's a severe form treat it first then patches because when skin heals it heals either with scars or dryness and after that permanent dryness for many children so these are sensitive skins skin is always nice soft glowing so this is non-sensitive skin but 30 percent have it so india mein kon kon say skin conditions ho te hai bachcho ko bhot common hai jo fungal is most common kya hota hai fungal mein jo jis skin areas mein hawa kam pauchte hai pasina jada banta hai waha how we get a fungal woh daat khaj kujli hata wala ad those ringworms kind of you know gul gul wale oh that is fungal infection.

18That is fungal infection. So dark, what we call it, is fungal infection, candidiasis. So this is very common to children? Very common. I'll tell you why because one thing is, we have a reward that they keep warm and keep them warm. It will get wet. This is a basic secret sauce of good skin health. You don't need to get sick of children. That sick of children that is there, it sticks, blocks the pores, causes infection, And humid skin, wet skin is a primary. It's food for fungus. Where did it show? They start growing. And if you live your young children, you want them. That's how they have. That's how they have.

04They have three-layered thighs and fatty muscles. Very cute. They have no idea of seeing the head. They have a little problem. because they are more sweaty and you are not able to reach those air, the air does not reach so if you have a little water if you have seen a little water next day, it's a whole fungal infection so infections second is broken skin bacterial infections there is a big reward to give it a big reward again, next myth I want to burst in America, I don't give it a big reward I just go there my point being in the future of the future and the knowledge of the future is a little bit less, nothing is I don't want to say anything is not but less in the sense I will tell you scientific data of massage newborn skin her infant skin her part has a special neurological connection to some part of the brain it's called a dermatome Okay.

12He can see his map. In India, it's such a state. His whole body is divided into those dermatomes. Okay. And each dermatome has a connection to the brain. If you go a little further in detail, I say, if you massage this part, then it's less diabetes. If you massage it, then it's less headache. It's not completely incorrect. Okay. So that's the dermatome thing. Okay. So if you want to stimulate their brain, every dermatome needs touch. and that's where the concept of massage so massage joints so not so important for the joints as much as the brain development there is no connection to the joint so I will tell you my preference is to massage with a slight hand with that notion that the amount of soap will make strong in the face of the face muscles, mass patients, that unfortunately has no connection.

18So, the massage is good for neurodevelopment. What is it? I've been hearing this since very long time. It's a bacterial skin infection. Okay. What is it? It goes into the bacterial skin. The blood supply is more than there. They nest there. It's got pus. It causes multiple boils. They all fuse together. It's a nasty picture. it can liquefy sometimes so you have to drain a little oral antibiotics but when we have more humidity I keep telling everybody don't let the child we are not in America we are not in the west where temperatures don't let you sweat here our winter is not winter where is our winter we are sweating here also so sweat is the child's skin's enemy so the child doesn't sweat but I make sure keep it cool crisp very important so you have done three myths yes but third myth complete so if it's not oil then what?

19lotion? lotion hydrate hydrate hydrate hydrate the skin moisturize the skin nice cool gentle massages and even more so in winter it will be more in winter the dryness in the skin it will be more in winter but not as bad as the north because it's not that cold so moisturize becomes very important on daily basis and skin sun damage is very common so moisture also protects against sun moisturizing lotion small children you are not going to take them out in the body they are not going to go swimming because sunscreen you don't need at that young age but after 1 or 2 years you need sunscreen when you step out yes after 6 months also you can apply sunscreen you can I mean there is no strict regulation but ithni zaruvat padti ne our parents are very very very very conservative when it comes to newer parents they have come to a level where they don't want to do anything that they by far thoda bi doubt raha ke bachche ko isse taklif ho hegi they wanna stay away yes they have prevention has gotten into that level now which is fair which is fair because the information out there they know about every disease her vaccine you know even before it's out there so it's so I would want simple request I'm going to take this opportunity to tell every parent out there that whenever you have to manage this all of these observe their rituals don't blindly follow three things avoid number one don't do it because you're damaging number two don't take this hair don't take this hair in that it is again frictional damage you are ruining the skin it will run itself nothing is doing number three no oil in the skin and number four they remove milk which is called the witch's milk goes away we have been drinking because they have traumatized those glands so these are common myths that we bust yeah okay why is the irritation of children on the skin?

36I've seen that somewhere red gets somewhere something happens and then they get very irritated what are the common causes? the main recipe the ingredient in the recipe of skin problems in children 3 years below is dryness the amount of dryness you keep the amount of moisturization you keep the amount of problems come on how much you should moisturize in one day? twice a day see normally no good quality full body head to toe which one of two three ingredients should be that should not be in any baby moisturizer and should not be in the child the pH of baby's baby's baby's is 5.5 so in and around 5.5 the pH of the moisturizer can be used without a headache do you recommend kids this?

24calendula is good dermatological tested this is the same one then there is a vitamin E oil that also soothes chamomile so this has vitamin E vitamin E is vitamin E oil yes so that is very good chamomile is is very good so these are certain things that we prefer which are natural ingredients chamomile comes from so in children chamomile they can rub chamomile oil they can rub magnesium oil magnesium oil magnesium oil and it works on the oil from the front it helps in muscle relaxant as a muscle. It's good. Just they like the touch. It makes them feel good. They're relaxed. They're chilled. It's good now.

07It's very good. Keep boiling them also for like good sleep. For sleep. The kid also deserves a good sleep. Genuinely nice. Just gently rubbing the oil is very good. What problem is, it doesn't have control and then it's still burning. That's the problem. Do you think if the mother's sleep cycle is up-down, then the child's up-down. Is there any correlation? In our clinic, In the clinic, one thing is very important. If you are breastfeeding the child, Mother's mental health and physical health is as important as the baby's health. Because if Mother is in emotional stress, she is tired, she is not asleep, she is not enjoying the process, milk will automatically stop.

51And then it will be vicious cycle. The blood is reduced, why did it get reduced? Give it up, give it up, give it up. or stress or cum or stress or cum so keeping and plus after pregnancy mother's hormones are not her best friends you've heard of postpartum blues feeling low crying at a drop of a hat bhajowing the husband at a drop of a hat these are all normal things but at that time you need to make her feel two three things we tell them agar you are feeling low don't talk to any of your friends jiska bacha ho it will give you more stress don't talk to anybody about your child watch a happy show that makes you laugh friends read a book that makes you feel good unfortunately we are like that in the first 40 days you can't step out for whatever reasons but I am a big fan of the mother getting that half in a change the environment everything to extremes one mother gets obsessed with the child soya, kha ya, piya, kya huwa, yeh rash dikha, yeh rash dikha, yeh karo, yeh awas kam karo, yeh temperature kam, their entire life is consumed with that child, they lose their self, they lose their identity, and after a while there's a crash, ki abhi I don't know who I am, it's very simple logic, which I would tell every mother, ki agar aapka bacha is growing well, please don't worry about too many technicalities in their system set to set their system.

27This is a sleep schedule, potty schedule, feeding schedule. They make a schedule, they make a schedule, they get tired themselves, but the children don't have that difference. But if your pediatrician says that the weight is good, no child which is growing well will have deprived sleep. Growth doesn't happen. No child whose good blood is deprived intake weight gain doesn't happen no child who is a happy smiling child is emotionally deprived of love so the mother can back off so when you get these signs and your pediatrician at every visit tells you please don't worry genuinely listen to that so you will also sleep and because of stress this milk what you said you said vicious cycle becomes correct there's also a question that if a mother has an infection should you do breastfeeding so it's like this if a mother has cough cold fever then she can infect because of proximity because of passing it's like you and me if I have a bad chance I have a bad chance then you will get a fever basic other fundamental every parent should understand is if they have a bad chance and they don't have a bad chance then they are not contagious hygiene you can maintain that's a good thing but it's not so paranoid if it's a book wear a mask you can still feed a lot of drugs you can take even during breastfeeding we are very very very pro breastfeeding all pediatricians are very pro when I'm saying this it doesn't mean that those who are hurting their blood are wrong that doesn't make it wrong but it can be so breastfeed don't take up excuses is to stop breastfeeding.

18So, mother fever or mother infection does not come to the child? So, you won't believe mother's milk sometimes girl babies newborns discharge pseudo-menses birth, bloody discharge from the vagina maximum panic calls in childhood after birth, within the first two months they open the diaper open and see that there is a little blood. You and me anybody as a parent absolutely panic that's normal pseudomensis again mother's milk hormones playing on the uterus of the girl child and causing a little bit of period like discharge so our goal is that parents before panicking it's important for them to understand our first visit with newborn maximum time is spend explaining them what is normal what is normal maximum time is spent to understand what is red flags actually interesting if you have one minute I will start and finish in one minute the advice I would give to a newborn please, it is so spinal that I don't even have to have the baby in front of me so breastfeeding if you start 10 to 15 minutes on this side 10-15 minutes on this side no feed should cross more than 20 minutes a total feed of not more than 40 minutes walk around with the baby for 5-7 minutes if the baby burps it's fine burp nahi kia toh neeche rakh dije burp nahi kia or dudh bhaar nikalna normal hai dudh jaisa dahi jaisa paani jaisa muh se naak se subnormal hai apke milk pe baby ko potty hoi ge ranging from 3-15 in a day absolutely normal golden yellow chutney jaisa dana dana highly acidic to potty ki jaga lal ho jayegi don't clean with wipes use cotton balls dab in lukewarm water air dry or diaper change diaper ka rule change karna hai har 3-4 gante pe geela hai ke nahi hai change karna hai chikna normal hai doesn't mean the baby has a cold shivering normally doesn't mean the feeling the baby is feeling cold when you talk about temperature 23 to 24 on AC with the fan on 1 and 2 for ventilation hiccups are absolutely normal and last skin care the lesser you do the better it is in the first one month

43wow

48this is your this is me I completely got that feeling I was like because we are doing this day day in and day out this is what you do with your video with like newborn newborn baby when parents come yes and you're like here's one minute yes and then you know what happens how do you know how to learn because these questions come and answer and do and do and do and do and do and now it is so close that after this one minute dialogue delivery we ask the parent do you have any questions no no no doc you've answered all of them I have questions yes are you fever after the rashes are in the skin, is that normal?

39So these are viral rashes. Post fever viral rash. What are they dangerous? No. In fact, it is pathogonomic. For us, that diagnosis for to confirm that it was viral is a rash after the fever goes. It had different types of rashes. 2-3 were worried about. So we test. Highly itchy rash all over the body. Post fever. Can be dengue. Okay. It comes very easily after going to the doctor. And then platelets and counts are the most dropped. So, you have to do that. This is also happened to me. Correct. So, you know. Right now it happened. Dengu was very much there a month or two ago. The other thing is typical, classical maculopapular rash.

23That is signs of measles. After going to the doctor. But measles are very sick. They are vomiting, signs of early pneumonia, collapsing here and there. so if you have a book or not you know it's measles your parent will also know by that and third is aaj kal ka favorite hand foot and mouth disease they all new terms fancy diseases new age diseases so these are basically we call it chicken pox so one day it comes to a book and never comes to it and the other day it starts to boil as the name of the disease suggests boils come on the hands it's a chicken pox typical elbows, hands, bum, knees and inside the mouth.

05Hand, foot and mouth disease. Dousre tisre day pe boils bohat baddhe hai. Bacha kuch kata hai. Roti rehai hai. Drooling because kan't swallow saliva also. Itina dard dote hai. Chote din, paanchve din, chati nikal jata. Apne aapi. Apne ap kuch nai kar. Lekin they leave behind a lot of dry skin. All viral rashes on healing leave dryness as their sign. So again, moisture. But this hand, foot and mouth extremely contagious in class spreads like a forest fire it will happen but the disease is not that but if it happened then the doctor should not go to your own so for diagnosis for diagnosis because the majority of them are not aware of it and then do you give it or not no where do you give it?

55parents give it to you leave it to you otherwise what you treat it a viral there's a saying no in viral antibiotic 7 days without antibiotic

09you don't need and children have the most rashes or infections which is very common so I have told that at the same time it gets wet it becomes rash you know fluid collection heat sweat neck here there's a common side behind the ear for allergy rash is atopic dermatitis. Paseena. Paseena. Elbows. Hands. Groins. Diaper rash. Diaper area. Behind the knees. Very common. And diaper. You have to keep a lot of attention. What do you keep a lot of attention? You have to follow a rule. It's a very difficult thing. Especially if it's girls. I will tell you because you're Mama Ji. The rule of diaper is whether wet or not.

59day or night is it dark or not 3-4 hours now I made a post it got a lot of views but there was a lot of controversy who will change so much diaper you don't know how much diaper is and I agree but in a country like India where the humidity is so high diaper rash is very common and in diaper rash in females under 2 years of age the size of the urethra is very short and narrow. There are some skin infection, perennial region, if there is, then it's a urinary tract infection. Urinary tract infections in female children in our country are so common. Where we've reached a point, we've reached that point, that if your daughter is less than a half-two years and she's coming, if there are some bad conditions and you can go randomly, randomly please get a urine routine it's so common or number two when you are cleaning this is the second thing everyone should remember clean from top to bottom meaning from the urine you can use wipes you can use anything but that clean top down not down up if you down up then infection goes up So these are very basic things you can avoid, can do to prevent urinary tract infections in girl children especially.

34In children's cancers are quite common now. Actually, it burns my heart to say it when we see, when we have to, a two-year-old child to tell your children is leukemia or lymphoma. But we are seeing it. Why are they increasing in children? I think it's genetic mutations. faulty genes from the parents may not be that faulty when they are owning it but when they are coming together there is something, where is something wrong? Hereditary you will say hereditary is strong what will your child do? nothing it's genetic but genetic expressions are becoming more and more it's called mutations sudden change in the structure of the baby's genetic structure okay we are talking about skin care and taking care of the kid do you think nail care is important yeah because dry skin is itchy skin itchy skin means they are going to scratch if they have nails they are going to break the skin more they are going to get infections so filing the nails is very cutting is very risky they have so many clothes cut that we see lot of newborns skin infected around the nail and that is why the maid got or the mother got very excited that I want proper manicure nails so this is how you can nip the skin a small nip here highly vascular area good source of bacterial growth 3 days later so these are very very common things in which age you have to cut?

06you can cut even newborn but first by my opinion file them filing will make them blunt then cut them you get newborns nail cutters but never even close to the skin to cut it a little never get too close because then you will 100 % damage the skin you know I'm thinking because you said that anywhere there is liquid fluid there are skin problems there are skin problems children drool so drooling it's called a drool rash it's very common because we say mouthing can happen as early as 2.5 months where the inquisitiveness of putting things in the mouth is there by 4 to 5 months they have gums which are hardening formation of teeth have started so that's itchy gums teeth may come out after 6, 6 and a half months even the first tooth can come up to 12 months but because of the itchy gums they put everything in the mouth and they drool because drooling makes them feel good who spit from the spit bubbles banana, blowing strawberry very common and then rashes yes Yes.

20And how can you treat it? So, any rash is the only fundamental. First is cleansing. First, clean it. Then you treat. If it's mild, then it's soothing cream, calendula-based lotions, skin repair creams. If it's bad, then it's got steroids. Once it's done, then you have to moisturize to prevent it from coming again and again. So if you are being moisturized by the child's part, every body part, then chances of getting rash is less? 80 % rash you can prevent. So you are saying maximum problem will only solve that the child will moisturize twice. Correct. As simple as that. And it doesn't happen. Because if you moisturize more, it won't happen.

05Correct. So to keep them cool. And they don't have to be filled with the whole bottle. not to hide. I can say just a thin layer to make sure that it's nice and lubricated. You talked about cool. But you've also said that children should not use the AC to 18 degrees. So no, that is extreme. So what happens? Why should not use the AC? It should use the AC. But temperature should be 23 or 24. Why does it use 16, 17, 18? Because it's 16, 17. You can't keep all places. So here it's 16. then you go outside that is 32 that difference of 16 to 32 you have to go outside from the car from the AC from the air from the air so that is good but when we wear a hat it fogs it fogs immediately we can't see because the surface here is very cold and outside is warm so there is condensation that same condensation happens in every air in the body sinuses headaches, coughs colds, lungs everything get that change of temperature see, there's 17 degrees air inside, then there's 32 degrees air inside, again cough, sinuses block runny nose, very very common, ear infections because of, wow, every 15 days it comes, have you heard of that?

35every 15 days literally I have to show the parent shows me he hated it he hated it and why are they coming so much number one there is something called after covid it has been a lot of growing called hygiene hypothesis what happens in the midst of covid those children born have not developed immunity so well because for those two years and for those two years they kept so much hygiene everything was sanitized nobody was moving around without a mask. Common allergens, antigens which we have been growing what we call a systemic desensitization of the immune system. If one thing that you keep in this proportion, but if it's 100 exposed to it then the body is used to it.

29That's not. So they are they will take time. We say allergic coughs and colds 3-4 years. They're coming out. but it's going to be 6-7 years. Before, one out of five kids had RAD, reactive airway disease, childhood asthma, allergic bronchitis was now one out of two children. Because of pollution. Because of smog, air quality. Tell me, in urban babies and rural babies, will both have the conditions of skin different? Yeah. Or what do they have? Very. The 30 % I gave is that eczema, sensitive skin, skin rashes. It's only urban. It's only urban? It's only urban. It's not in rural? No. It's not in allergen exposure.

14Tell a rural baby and urban baby. Number one, they fall very low as compared to us. Very low. Rural babies are less than urban babies. Okay. Because of the sheer load, the amount of exposure, the point after birth there are so many exposures there compared to air quality air quality is number one number two is population exposure and concentration packed either you go to a normal household so you live in 400 square feet 4-5-5-1 average if you consider there is not so much bigger houses ventilated not fancy this light that light not all opened ventilation number of people means if one person is a disease it is not necessary that the other person will get here one person is a whole family in a week whole family so number two and number three chances of them growing their own food quality is uncomparable okay I also want to compare something normal delivery or c-section delivery in both difference in skin so the process of normal vaginal delivery what happens in that?

46the passage of mother passage birth passage good bacteria good bacteria the secretions the baby brings along okay and we keep cleaning them at birth we get rid of that a lot but a lot of that stays is very sticky in cesarean they don't get that because they're brought out from the top but having said that the difference of skin over years that we've seen is more connected to the birth weight and the maturity of the child now most of the premature children who were born before birth and underweight are born through cesarean because it's a high risk delivery nobody nobody is standing let's go let's take it we can see let's get the baby out so cesarean is done the babies are born at 2 kilos 2.12 at that time the skin is anyway very underdeveloped so that's why that would form a better connection why cesarean skin babies born through cesarean have more sensitive skins is because they are brought out a little before got it so that's why their skins are tougher but long term effects are there?

03either caesarean depends on the birth weight depends on the birth weight how much of the birth weight is the weight of the birth weight if both are normal average birth weight then there is no difference in caesarean and normal delivery not that we have seen over we have seen them grow in our eyes you can't make out there is no connection and newborns are now they feel like they are peeling their skin why? dry skin so what happens is when they are born their skin sheds they renew their layer under they have been there for 9 months skin developed last 3 months now that environment is warm cozy different now they come out so the layer is the first layer it will get out you get good skin later and then you moisturize that again again it's a part of dryness moisturize it will be more good skin but is it very normal and common in India moisturizing No, it's a trend to change.

58Why do people not moisturize? They do it, but they feel that oil is still number one. And I'm talking to the masses here. I'm talking about masses. I think daddy, nani, chaachi, still play a significant role. There is a certain amount of science in a lot of things they do. But certain things may need to change with time. And this is one of them. Some children have birth marks. Do you want to see birth marks? Birth marks are different. There are a lot of what we call as stock bites and the red spots that go. They stay behind. Mongolian spots, bluish black spots, they stay behind. They are all temporary birth marks.

48They go. is hemangioma the capillary defect skin is a little like strawberry you have to treat it or you slowly get out and third is your typical nevuses black birthmarks and hypopigmented white patches black white but to assess them is very important how many are they? are they bigger or not? are they they call cafe spots there are some kind of birthmarks which are coffee like color and multiple spots how do they treat? panic no, they have to assess because beyond a certain size or beyond number their connection is with the brain something is wrong on the top so they have to test what is wrong on the top?

43tuberous sclerosis I mean, cafe or spot they tell us that in the brain there may be some developmental structural abnormalities it's not that common but black marks, nevuses whatever it is assess it it's important and what is neonatal acne? basically baby acne so what is happening? mother is breastfeeding so mother's breastfeed it's like estrogen hormone and these are also pubertal hormones which in puberty we have testosterone and estrogen derivatives same acne how do you keep acne in puberty? here they get acne because of the hormones through mother's milk very common nothing to do then what happens?

33that's a version of a flared up version called acne vulgaris skin care take it as a normal rash simple lotion simple ointments so if children get this so these are newborn acne newborn acne you can start with simple moisturizing yeah and if they grown then sometimes they get secondary infection so to that antiseptic point pen and nothing nothing you will there are few kids with which have a body odor so how that goes because that body odor is a child but If you don't treat it, the big ones also become strong. Correct. So, body odor number one cause again is hygiene. Skin hygiene. Nailana. Skin infections cause body odor.

24Which is number one. Dryness. Number one. It's all coming down on dryness. Dryness causes eczema, atopic dermatitis, causes itching. Kujlana. Kujlana causes infection. Infection causes very bad skin. smell so a last thing i want to tell you here on a very important skin care note

Read the full transcript

52is don't let them air dry air drying is the number one cause of skin infection because you're not you're leaving somehow you can never air dry it 100 percent always some amount of dampness wetness stays behind which is the root cause of all infection it's not like you want to be so you can tap it you have to don't let them air dry and obviously scalp air dry sinusitis is different but from skin hygiene point of view never and yes dry fit clothes non-cotton that's different, that's very fancy breathable not the best for your children they wear soccer t-shirt in every school it's the worst thing it doesn't, it lets the skin stick to the sweat it gets wet and some children after playing to put it in a task and that is the root cause of skin infection so best is pure cotton clothing 100 % cotton so if someone has eczema allergy then they wear a cotton cotton shirt under it only on dry fit body for 5-6 hours so it's a problem yes basically it's not the skin the sweat dries you think it's dry because it's dry from outside so you don't change so it's basically just the sweat sticking there see what happens in this normal t-shirt It's full of gila.

31After a game, you're not going to leave this on. No. Because it's all wet and sticking. Yes. And you're going to remove it. There, you'll keep it there because it's dry fit. Yes. It's not a gila outside. So, let's go now. We'll be staying for two hours later. Yes, we'll do that. That's the problem. That's the problem. That's the skin infection. Yes. Fungal being the commonest. Here's a new information. Fungal being the commonest. And skin infection is the number one cause of persistent body odor. Wow, I had one question which got left because we were talking about so many things. What is the diet of mother, does it change to the child?

09So approximately 1 % of everything that the mother eats goes through the breast milk. Our strict nonos are those who don't want to eat anything when they are breastfeeding. What is it? Number one is Chinese food because of MSG. What is it? MSG causes a lot of indigestion in the baby that aginomoto homemade Chinese without aginomoto MSG is fine bloating a lot of gas number 2 is obviously alcohol which is a strict note sometimes there is an occasion so you pump and dump breastfeeding at home avoidable sometimes they say party, marriage but after that After 3 hours you have to express and dump. And then think of feeding.

00Any food that makes the mother sick. We avoid. Uncooked meals during breastfeeding. Good food. Why? Highest chances of stomach infection. But raw food is good. The more raw your food is the better it is. Cooked food. Raw is the highest chance of infection. But raw is healthy right? So it depends where it's grown. you've seen where your raw food comes from you never want to see trust me you don't want to see so in our city if you're getting your veggies unless until you're that kind of a person farmer to what do you mean? farm to devil if it's not like that then you have to cook so the best way to make sure that infection doesn't get in the back is through and obviously you don't want the mother falling sick taking unnecessary medications so these are the most important and sometimes some children are colic gas you know they are just crying and they can't digest so research shows that the only thing that the mother needs to stop to prevent colics or gas from the children is milk and milk products they give themselves to the milk they give themselves next big myth I'm going to bust.

23As much as mom will drink, the blood will grow. There's no connection. There is no connection. So basically, that blood is not coming here. So it's not. So our here is a lot of people. Yes. Okay. Here's the last question to you. Most shocking thing that you know in your career, in research or in your experience. experience. I was always under the impression that what we eat is what we eat and what children eat should be very different. But in my experience I feel that as soon as you give your children your food for taste. So taking this to a next level then I did a little research when are they developed in taste buds when are they developed?

25so 9 months to 1 year it's developed and that's the time you want your child to go on a full family diet which we eat in West I am not thoroughly convinced because what's their reasoning I'm not completely sold yet don't add sugar in the food. Salt mud in the food. Over time I realized yet when you do a little research, sugar is very important for the child's brain. So those parents are extremely hard to sit down and sit down that they don't give any sugar. If you're that passionate, avoid refined sugar. It will go. But sweetness in the form of dates, jaggery, these are good things for your child.

13That to starve to do it. Then sometimes it becomes a rebound. When they get access to biscuits, they go crazy. Never tasted in my life and I found gold. They keep. So, I always believe to give a child an exposure to everything, slowly, casually, recommended under the advice of your pediatrician. Salt for taste at nine months. It will make the kid eat more food. So I would request all mothers who are so much in Western literature, Google, who are doing, it's not gospel truth. So if you look into the core medical reasons, sometimes they don't connect and a lot of them, in my case, simple as salt and sugar and all this.

04But sugar is bad. So refined sugar is very bad. Sugar should be banned. So... Like poison, declare it. You're eating poison. Yes. Refined sugar, strict no no. But what do you do if you go to a birthday party? What will you do with your child? You'll be the only one saying no to your child for the birthday cake. My problem with sugar more is addiction. Correct. So but. You started one birthday party, two birthday parties addiction. Like I am suffering through that addiction today. It's a craving. It's a craving. It's how much you try, how much you do. The max I've gotten. I eat sugar for 15 days.

47I'm not able to completely stop it. But which is, but why do you want to completely stop it is my question. Because it's bad. My brain development is bad. My energy is bad. My body, all my markers are up and down. There are so many things which just goes bad, bad, bad. I always believe that if it's a poison, don't do it daily. But as a child, as a treat, as an occasion, you're not going to get addicted to it in fact the feeling of being left out so I always believe everything in moderation I can see a lot of changes and I feel that parenting is now getting more and more tough and the people to blame sometimes are the parents themselves they are going too hard on themselves because of Google yes and they want to be the best about what Google recommends they want to do the best what it recommends so go easy perfect Thank you so much for sharing all the knowledge and talking about everything related to not only baby skin but parenting and parents and the world and resilience and urban and rural and so many more things.

In our seventh episode of our special series with sensitive skin expert Cetaphil, we have Dr. Nihar Parekh, an experienced Paediatrician (MBBS, DCH, MD USAIM), sharing practical, science-backed advice on newborn and child skin health. He explains why every baby’s skin is different, the most common infections in India, and why practices like over-covering babies can cause more harm than good. From eczema to fungal infections, he breaks down prevention, treatment, and what parents often misunderstand.

We discuss daily care basics like moisturising, safe ingredients, bathing routines, and why fragrance and alcohol should be avoided in baby products. Dr. Parekh talks about skin differences in C-section vs normal delivery babies, the importance of birth weight, and how seasonal factors and clothing choices impact skin health. He also addresses diaper use, drool rashes, neonatal acne, and why some babies have body odour. There’s guidance on breastfeeding, maternal diet, and how a mother’s physical and mental health directly influences the baby.

In the final segment, he shares the role of immunity in children born during COVID, when birthmarks need treatment, and why cotton clothing is the safest choice. He also explains common mistakes like letting a baby air dry after a bath, how infections can start, and the link between nutrition and brain development.
