I'm Lizzie O 'Leary, a podcaster and journalist here to welcome you to Series 3, and I'm joined by a new co-host. Hello, Lizzie. I'm Femi O 'K, a broadcaster and journalist. Hi. I'm so excited to be joining the podcast to bring you insights and business solutions to the complex issues we continue to face. Welcome to the show. Thank you. We'll be exploring the role business plays in that story and asking the crucial questions businesses really need to consider both today and tomorrow.

0:45And those include conversations around what it means to be a responsible business, the radical changes ahead with quantum computing, and the complex challenge of feeding the world. We're talking with guests who can help bring clarity and give us clear insights and actionable advice. Take our quantum computing episode. I spoke to Spiros Michalakis, a mathematical physicist at Caltech here in the U.S., and he was keen to impress on me the urgency of not just businesses, but the world getting to grips with quantum. You may think quantum right now is just an academic thing. There is some hype behind it.

1:22Why should I care? You should care because even if 1 % of what we expect comes to be, it will exponentially transform your business. We also look at the role of a responsible business and what it takes to lead them. In this episode, we managed to push past the jargon to really understand how companies can be a force for good. Here's a little of what Patagonia's chair, Charles Kahn, had to say. Setting high aspirations that align with company purpose is good for business. And it helps us remember that this is not just a trade-off between profit and doing good. that ultimately profit comes from doing good.
