29oat车 , Two myths that are in India are skin tone. Number one, if mother has a casar, then child will be skin tone. If mother has a casar in pregnancy, then child will be skin tone. It's not right. Skin tone is determined by the genetics. So you can't change it initially in babies. When can you expose newborn babies out? And newborn babies initially... Which ingredients should avoid? You should avoid any product with paraben in it. So, before we go, PCOS and infertility issues are risked. Secondly, it should be free from phthalates, alcohol. There was a study, don't put talc powders in the past because long-term lungs will get worse.
08Is that true?
12We all need healthy skin. That's why we have a special series where we will talk about advancing skin health for every skin story with sensitive skin expert Cetaphil. This is the first episode of this series. My niece recently turned one and my sister has a lot of confusion about what products should be used on her skin or not. So, we thought that this episode was made in which my sister and all the new parents and families get help and get an expert doctor's information to them. Our guest today is Dr. Arpit Gupta who is a gold medalist MD Pediatrics. In this episode, I learned some important things that affect baby's skin and health directly.
01Do you need to add hair oil? Do you need to add oil to the oil massages? What should baby's routine routine and what is it? Watch this episode till the end and tell me in YouTube comments about what you learned from this episode. Enjoy the show!
24Dr. Arpit Gupta, welcome on figuring out. Thank you for having me, Raj. I have a question. Which thing is the most misunderstood about baby skin, about babies and your profession? First of all, the thing is, the skin of babies is very sensitive. And skin is the largest organ of the body. So, it takes the skin very lightly. lya jata hai. Babies ki joh skin hoti hai, it is very gentle and it needs to be handled very gently. But babies usually loog achse gently rate na, kya kharaab karte hai? What do you think? What have you seen ki joh kharaab hota hai? Jo five common problems which I see on a daily basis is, number one if we start from the head, bache ke newborn baby ke sar pe khoop sara teel bhahta ke rakh dete hai, assuming ki isse joh soft spot hai, woh jaldi bhahta jayega.
17But this is not true. Joh soft spot होता है वो अपने टाइम से between 9 to 18 months भरेगा तो तेल रखने से वो नहीं भरेगा जल्दी, in fact ज़ादा तेल रखने से या excessive oil रखने से cradle cap ज़रूर हो सकता है, क्या होता है cradle cap? Cradle cap एक crusty layer जम जाती है babies के सर पे, which looks gross, दो common triggers होते हैं, एक बहुत ज़ादा tail laga ke chhoddhia sar pe and secondly agar aap head ko wash nini karte ho and this is a very common problem of cradle cap in India. Okay. Yeh bohut saare bacho ho hota hai? Bohut babies ko hota hai. Almost every third child is having this cradle cap problem.
52So yeh first problem. You said five there are problems. Then second problem which we see ki tail ko private part mein dalte hai just to open up in boys open up the private part penis bacha paida hua dekhte hai ki private part open hi hai oil install kerti hai jhapas and all usko kholnye ke liye isse babies ko nahi infection ka ek toh risk reyta hai plus on top of that structure bhi bunne ka risk reyta hai toh islehi woh private part mein oil link nahi done na hai. Ye karate hai bhoat common hai? Bhoat common hai. Till now also in the urban cities they are doing it. Specifically jhapas hire kertai hai wo usko day one se kholta hai.
26Toh hum kiatai hai six months tak apko kuch bhi nahi kholna hai. Aaghe bhi apko oil se toh bilkul hini kholna hai usko. Then the third and the third problem which we see in babies these days are when children are born after the child, they are feeling like a basin. They think that they will be fair. But these are very harsh for the gentle baby skin. So, those things we should avoid. This is very basic. Let's go deep into everything. But first, I want to talk about a myth. When we talk about baby skin care, people are obsessed with the color. True. Right? India, do parents come to you and be like, my child is dark, brown, brown, I want to better skin color, whatever I don't know.
13The most common problem in newborn period is when the child is born, it is quite fair. Why? Because the baby was in a protected environment inside the womb. It was from amniotic fluid. But when the baby is outside, he gets exposed to the environment, exposed to the pollution, to the sunlight, so skin melanin production which is dark so after 10-15 days parents realize that my child is dark but the actual skin tone that comes after 6 months of age and that is determined by the genetics of the child so only genetics genetics very common myth which is skin tone in India number 1 if the mother if the pregnancy has a casar then the child will be gross if the mother if the pregnancy has a chai then the child will be gross Yes.
00Or after the child's birth, you put up a basin or a basin, the skin tone will be fair. It's not right. Basically, skin tone is determined by the genetics. So, you can't change it initially in babies. So, for those who believe that the child's color will change, what is the message? Message to all the parents is, number one, don't worry about the skin tone. Every skin tone is beautiful. And don't tell your child, keep on saying that you're dark or something. let them love themselves encourage confidence in them encourage self love in them if not then it's not now at least later on in teenagers it will bother them and secondly if you have to do something for skin tone you can follow your normal skincare routine which is basic normal cleansing, moisturize and if you are in the sun you can use sun protection physical sunscreen is available which are completely safe if you follow these basic things follow کروگے to اس سے کیا ہوگا جو آپ کا skin tone ہے وہ maintain رہے گا اس سے اور ڈاک نہیں ہوگے بس there's a common misconception or maybe common belief nowadays جو internet پہ بہت بڑا بنتے جا رہا ہے ki natural baby products بہت زیادہ اچھے ہوتے ہیں بچوں کے لئے how true is that first of all there's nothing natural کیوں کیا natural baby products سب میں کچھ نہ کچھ تو ہوتے ہیں جو skin care products آتے ہیں جو completely natural claim کرتے ہیں the thing is it should be the right products like the right ingredients if the ingredients are right for your skin then it's fine so that's why I keep on saying just like you read the label in the food you should read the label of the things which you're applying on your skin composition is right suppose there's no harmful toxins if it's baby friendly pH is balanced then you can use it and that is safe to use in fact I was studying pediatric dermatology and they told me in the study that many natural products can be harmful for baby because the pH balance is very high because of natural ingredients and the skin barrier can be damaged versus helping to help.
08Is that true? Yeah, because that's why I'm saying you should read the literature that pH should be balanced for 5.5 and if the pH is not balanced, the skin barrier is going to be disrupted. But then why is this so big belief that natural products use a wave is going to be that you should just use natural products to the kids? Basically the thing is natural things they are now coming but it's not that that they are completely customized so that it is fit for the baby skin. Like you say if you are using some calendula extract or if you are using any product so it will beneficial ingredients are now in baby products inculcate and harmful things are not 100 % natural nothing 100 % natural nothing today not even food is 100 % natural no baby product that is 100 % natural nothing there is nothing called natural natural is something which is taken from the soil and applied so you can't apply it because it will do more harm than good so it needs to be customized according to the baby and can be used then.
17And then there are a lot of people who use coconut oil, mustard oil. That's not natural. Coconut oil is fine. Mustard oil is a little harsh for the baby. But we see so many cases of allergy with mustard oil. So every skin is different. So if it's suiting you, then it's fine. It's your call. But as a pediatrician, we never recommend mustard oil because we have seen so many allergic reactions with mustard oil safest of all is coconut oil I always advise coconut oil that is the best and mustard mustard you have to be very careful because I have seen but not so much use of mustard oil we also see we also see a lot of what allergies are there skin reactions have a craddle cap have a severe allergic reactions they sometimes develop eczemas also after it so that's why we are not convinced with mustard oil much temporarily we have to put them for cold cuff relief and all it's fine as far as after doing a patch test that there is no allergy but regularly I would say maybe 40-50 % of the babies they don't react really well with mustard oil but majority of the babies they react well with coconut oil and you do body malish new bones I have seen dabaya dabaya is that right?
39no 5 common mistakes with massage oil which I commonly see is number one وہ بچے کے تیل کو مساج کے دوران بچوں کے کان میں ناک میں ڈالتے ہیں اس سے infection ہونے کا risk کرتا ہے کان و ناک میں number two مساج کے دوران میں breast کو squeeze کر کر کے اس سے milk نکالنے کی کوشش کرتے ہیں اس سے breast abscess ہونے کا risk کرتے ہیں newborn babies کو بچوں کے breast milk نکالتے ہیں ابھی بھی rural areas میں لگتا ہے ہلکی سی swelling ہے اس کو compress کرتے ہیں مساج کے time پہ کہ اس سے witch's milk کہتے ہیں اس کو وہ نکالنے ہی کوشش کرتے ہیں and ultimately they land up in breast abscess پورا abscess بن جاتا ہے کیا ہوتا abscess abscess basically pus بن جاتی ہے پھر last میں ان کو medicines دو sometimes یہ بچوں کے ساتھ کرتے ہیں لوگ کرتے ہیں massage کے دوران ان کا breast دبا دبا کے اس کو squeeze کر کے اس میں سے milk نکالنے کی کوشش کرتے ہیں جس کی ویسے وہاں پہ اور infection اور abscess ہو جاتا ہے thirdly massage very vigorously we have seen injuries we have seen most commonly clavicle we have seen so much massage we have seen almost every week I see 2-3 cases of clavicle injury because of harsh massage and number 4 private part oil for opening but 6 months you shouldn't open private part men and women both men men men boys open men men men men months you shouldn't put any oil in it.
06Six months ke baad, agar apko karna bhi hai, to simple plain water se karo, not with any oil. And what happens if they do it, if they do it, what happens? What they do is, they put oil and try to open it. But agar ap karo ge, to urine me infection honne kar risk kratah hai. Number two, forcefully ap karo ge, to us time pe to temporary khulega, but stricture ban jate hai. To long term mein, phir wapas band ho jayega and stricture ban jate hai. Stricture as in wo chupak jate hai. and it shouldn't be done and it's a problem in future what happens then it's a risk what happens it's a risk and it's painful then then it's a surgical so it is better not to handle it leave it for 6 months and don't do anything and those we do we do we do we do so that the child's bone is strong is strong is strong this is a myth that this see advantages have massage number one bonding between the caregiver and the child number two it helps in digestion that has a lot of issues that has a lot of number three it helps in promoting sleep okay and your bones are strong internally but yes it's a form of exercise you can see if you exercise you can do internally it's not research proven India in age-old way was done before before Western now highlight that you will massage so you will sleep so you will so these things have been done years there is no scientific research that bone strong but overall massaging is good for your child as far as the child is enjoying it it shouldn't be a torture for the child but usually children are crying it should be a gentle massage you should interact with the child make eye contact it shouldn't be ki aap phone dekharu or massage kharu nahi and kawun sa massage oil sahih hai kya ingredients honen chih massage oil ke andre jis se aap ko pata chalata hai ki ye oil sahih hai for the summers i recommend coconut oil for winters i say olive oil plus there are so many baby massages oil which are available in the market so you should read the label first and agar us mein glycerin hai plant oils hai calendula extracts hai then it's safe to use for them but always be it whatsoever oil you always test a patch if it's suiting your skin if it's suiting your skin you can continue with the massage one more thing we're talking about skin let's talk about head scalp it's a very sensitive
50it's a very personal choice so if parents ask me I tell them if you have a religious sentiment or tradition you can go forward the fact is when children are born that is decided by the maternal hormones babies' hair they go up to 3-6 months hair fall parents panic and that is normal because the maternal supply of hormones cut after the new set of hair because of the new hair growth cycle that is determined by the genetics the genetics decide side करेगा जो बाल आएंगे कि वो किस texture में होगा कितने thickness में होगा, क्या color में होगा तो अगर आप mundane कराते हो तो the fact is कि वो जो uneven hair सारे हट गए तो जो new set of hair आएंगे वो even ही आएंगे, तो दिखने में थिक लगते हैं बट जो thickness आएगी that is not determined by the mundane, it is determined by the genetics
58third time mundane and more good then that is completely wrong but children do not have a benefit no but it is religious sentiments religious sentiments and when you look at new even hair then parents are happy that is even hair because the first hair is uneven so it is just like that so you can do it okay sir people put a lot of bread on the back they put a lot of bread in this hope that they put a lot of bread and they put a lot of bread so they put a lot of bread First part is which we put in very much that is true but the fact is the concept that we put in the oil and leave it it's not that we put in that the soft spot which we put in the oil which we put in the oil but the fact is the soft spot that will be in 9 to 18 months will be in the oil will be in if you put in and leave it and leave it excessive oil लगा के छोड़ दोगे, तो वहाँ पर sebum production होगा, और बच्चे को cradle gap होने का, या hair में fungal infections होने का risk होने का, उससे क्या problem होती है?
05itching होने लग जाती, irritation होती है, क्या होता है बिसिकली एक crusty layer बन जाती है और उस crusty layer से होता क्या है? problem कुछ नहीं होती है, it looks gross so that the crust crust layer can be made although it is not but it is a fungal infection which is a risk of having been done if it is done then it will fall into the chest so if you have oiling to make it on the neck before the neck half an hour before the neck and then you can use it and you can use it and put the amount of oil to make it on the body or the neck that it will absorb so oiling I never say no you can do it you can do it it's good there's no harm if it's your child's skin suit your skin oiling is very good but if your child's not suit your child then you don't do a lot of oiling people use a lot of things like some smell or a child is it important is it advantageous is there anything that's different traditionally many people now use a baby's skin in a patient, some baby suits, some baby will have severe allergic reaction.
15So I tell them, that if you have to put it, it's your personal choice, but do a patch test, you put it, if they are suited, then do it. Be it any moisturizer, you have to put oil, you have to put milk, you have to put it, but don't use it again, if it's causing any allergy or reaction to your child. So you put it, because now there are studies that have to put milk, to put the benefits or what will be? But milk usually people put it so that the children are poor. Skin tone is not in the way. But yes, hydration is improved but again, the amount of babies can be allergic reaction. So, we don't recommend it to all.
55Those who are personally using it if the skin suits it. You can go forward. And people put the ghee on dry skin. Do they put it? Do they put it? Again, people put it to keep the skin moisturized. कुछ babies को suit करता है they can go for it but majority babies को घी suit नहीं करता है उसे pores सारे clog हो जाते है and allergy करके आता है हमारे पास so it depends on skin type कौन से दो -ती ingredients है जो avoid करने जी baby skincare products में you should avoid any product with paraben in it because उससे endocrine disruption होता है endocrine hormones पूरे disrupt होते है क्या होता endocrine basically hormone production in the body it will disrupt it will disrupt it will disrupt so the risk of PCOS and infertility issues is going to be risk of paraben products for a long time use secondly it should be free from phthalates alcohol it should be free from talc as you all know talc is linked with cancer because of asbestos in it so these are the things you should look for let me check I'm checking what are the ingredients in this one okay and you tell me if this is right to use or no this is shea butter is that okay yeah that's fine sunflower oil that is a plant oil that is fine then they have also put vitamin e but apart from it let me try okay here's the now you are starting the trend with read the label no no i'm trying to see so it has helium thus helium thus anise seed oil seed oils these are all plant based oil basically so it's fine okay then paaki butter basically as far as it's paraben free if it's hypoallergenic if it's ph balanced and specifically designed for babies okay that's two ingredients which I want to highlight tell me if it's good or bad for kids.
57Calendula flower extract? It has anti-inflammatory properties. It's very good. It's very good? Okay. What does anti-inflammatory properties? Basically it's a plant extract. So it's like a What benefit does it have? It's inflammation in the skin. It's inflammation. It's calendula extract. Okay. So it is good then. It is good. Then it has citric acid. Is that good? It's fine. Fine? No problem? No. I don't know why? acid? no no no even water is a chemical H2O everything around even oxygen is chemical O2 so it's good thing or versus the bad thing as far as it's non-toxic then it's fine I'm sure non-toxic toh hoga because the brand is very big and they are very gentle so I'm not I'm not actually worried okay it is paraben free that is very important it should be paraben free for sure otherwise long term it's it has shia butter vitamin e paraben free non-irritating gentle scent then seed oil then candula flower extract citric acid then it has okay almost same here just it's not a major ingredient which is a problem okay dermatologist tested for baby's delicate skin do you think it's right if it's from a tried and trusted brand if it's baby friendly it's fine I'm trying to ask you questions because I want to know I use Cetaphil I personally use it but is it safe for babies also or no that's a question only very few brands which you say are safe now there are hundreds of products very few are safe you think Cetaphil is safe?
43yeah it's safe I use their moisturizer and I've been using it since a while now in fact I think my basic which is a skin care, there is a moisturizer, a serum and a sunscreen. That's it. This is the skin routine from newborn till adult. It's same. It is CMP. Cleansing, moisturizing and protection from sun. There is no rocket science or advanced. Cleansing is to bring baby daily. That is cleansing. Moisturizing is to keep baby's skin moisturized with a good baby moisturizer. and last is protection from the sun if a child is going to play in the deep deep deep in the deep deep or swimming then the baby also needs a physical sunscreen and not a chemical sunscreen because physical sunscreen is safe what is physical sunscreen?
34physical sunscreens are mineral based sunscreens physical sunscreen and chemical sunscreen is the difference between physical sunscreen it sits on top of the skin and whatever UV rays come to the sun it reflects it so it is non-harmful whereas the chemical sunscreen they have chemicals in it which absorbs UV rays, converts heat and then radiates so that's why we don't recommend chemical sunscreen for the children, we always recommend physical sunscreen for the children in fact for the adults also you should try to use physical sunscreen, it's safer but children need sunscreen? 6 months we don't advise sunscreen in that way you give physical protection in the form of shades you don't put full sleeves cotton cloths loose fitted you can go to a hooded stroller and you can go to a broad hat above 6 months if kids are going to play physical activities outdoor for a while 6 months what do you do not go to a picnic 2-3 years you can go to a picnic where you can go to a ground where you can go to a direct 2-3 hours or you can go to a swimming when you are going to do it because it protects from the harmful UV rays Sabun Sabun Basically cleansers two types of solid cleansers and liquid cleansers which we call body wash solid cleansers also two things one soap and one scinded bars people don't know people think scinded bar and soap both same Sabun what is the difference the scinded bar and one soap soap is very harsh pH 9 to 10 and it disrupts the natural oil from the skin whereas jo scinded bars hote hain uska chemical composition aisa hai ki it is very mild the pH is matched with the skin that is 5.5 and usse natural oils bhi preserved rete hain toh agar aapko solid cleanser use karna hai bar use karna hai toh it should be a scinded bar and not a soap example do dono ka ek ek brand ka scinded bars jiasse many companies even setafil baby is also having and many so many brands are having scented bars which is pH balanced hypologetic and soaps to you like, detol soaps are you?
52detol life boy and say babies can't be? these are soaps why? detol is a trusted brand pH is not balanced natural oil skin you see people in balti like a cup in balti detol is a cup detol is a cup not recommended it is very harsh for the gentle baby skin what happens with that? the natural barrier will disrupt because those are very strong for the babies we talk about natural barrier disrupts, what happens with natural barrier? and what happens with it? basically natural barrier the child's layers are first of all, newborn baby's skin is different from the adult skin newborn baby's skin is 30 % thinner compared to the adult skin newborn baby's skin 5 times more water loss compared to the adult skin and this is why it will be very quickly dehydrate.
46And thirdly, what chemicals, preservatives, irritants, allergens are very quickly penetrates. Because it is layer of fat. And this is why it is very sensitive. These are all the protective layers. So if we can use harsh products, higher pH, then we will disrupt layers. This is why the skin becomes susceptible to the outside environment. And if that barrier disrupts, then what will happen? The child risks skin infections. Which skin infections can happen? We see so many cases of fungal infection in skin. We see cases of staphylococcus infection that is in particular in skin. We see a lot of cases of skin allergies, eczemas, atopic dermatitis.
36You have given me very heavy words. I have explained simple words. What happens? basically infection it becomes exposed if you have the barrier disrupt it becomes exposed if it is exposed from bacteria then bacterial infection like you can see patch will become lal will become pus will become what happens sometimes pustules become pus those are usually bacterial sometimes honeycomb appearance becomes honey crust those are also staph bacteria sometimes In the next time, fungal infections are like ringworm. Fungal infections are like patches. So, it's also an infection. So, many times you can see that the child's skin is getting dry.
19It's a dry like it's just getting out. So, what is that? It's basically dehydration. As I've told that the skin is very quickly water loss. So, it's very quickly dehydrated. That's why moisturization is very important for the kids. So, they need moisturization. So, ideal skincare routine for babies. Newborns, if we talk about 7-10 days Buckeye کو Sif Lukewarm water Se sponging Karnais Sif Aapko Lukewarm water Se beden Poochna Once The Ambilical cord Falls Tab Aap Buckeye Ko Nila Saktay Routinely Nila Atay Wakt Kya Dhyhan Rakhna Hai 7-10 days Jib Ambilical cord Follow Jatay Jib Na B Jib Girt Jib Buckeye Kau Nila Saktay Jib Ap Nila Atay Buckeye Baiting
06bathing should be of short duration not to be able to do it or not, the child's skin dehydrate will get started after the child's skin, you can wrap it and towel pat dry, you can rub it not to be very strong, or not, the whole moisture will go out then after patting dry, you can with a good moisturizer, you can moisturize within 5-10 minutes when the child's skin is the most stir. Can you use a 10 days moisturizer? After 10 days yeah you can use depending on how dry the baby skin is. But after 10 days using moisturizer on a kid is safe? It's safe, it's safe. As far as if it's baby friendly yeah.
47Okay. Because we see so many cases of dry skin. Dry skin will be all water loss and the child will be dehydrated. You can use, some use coconut oil as a moisturizer before some use baby moisturizers. And what should we do after 6 months? 6 months ke baad a CMP cleansing moisturizing and protection from the sun protection may be even shades also you can keep in shades it's not that you don't have anything to do you can keep in shades full sleeve cloth you can wear hat give me one example of everything best cleanser should be best cleansers cleansers should be mild baby friendly pH balanced or 5.5 should be there if common ingredients to look for are glycerines it should be it should be panthenol or vitamin b5 it should be plant oil based should be there give me a brand if you want me to name one it could be cetaphil cetaphil cleansers are very good i've been using it my so many of my patients and the results are good very good so cetaphil baby range okay so specific that's there that's there okay then moisturizers moisturizers again it should be very light it should be quick absorbing and should be baby friendly and if you look at the ingredients same it should be having glycerines it should be having a lot of plant oils should be having these vitamin e vitamin b5 shea butter so many things are there tell me one ingredient which should not be paraben free paraben free let's check I'm gonna check everything.
30Hmm.
34Then... Okay, it is tear-free, non-irritating, paraben-free, zero animal origin. Yeah. That's there. So based on what you said, the ingredients should be, all are in it. And the ingredients should not be, they should not be. Okay, so check 2 will be passed. See, my expertise is not enough. I mean, I don't have any expertise in the baby care, in the baby range. I just know I accepted the brand and I want to do it because I'm a genuine fan who set a filter. It's a good brand. Like it's a, and I genuinely love it. It's a trusted brand. I love it and it's my results. I'm happy. I'm full. Like I started with face.
13I'm now using it on my whole body. Like I use it. That's why I say you should always use a trusted brand, be it whatsoever. And see what's suiting your baby's skin. It shouldn't be like blindly. finally, if this child can suit my child, then my child can suit them. Okay, newborn babies, when can they expose them to the outside? Or how many days can they expose them to the outside? Newborn babies, initially after first six weeks, they can go out for the guidelines. Six weeks, we say because they are more prone to infections. so as long as you initially six weeks you keep in bed isolate with mother six weeks six months six weeks okay so close family members it's better after six weeks immune system is at that level that they are ready to at least meet new people very important question who would have to kiss every stranger who would kiss I find it very annoying if it's parents then it's fine but if it's the stranger strict no because they will definitely give some kind of virus or bacteria to this chain At any age do not allow children to allow children do not allow children to kiss their children because India is a very culture and now my niece was the first birthday and I saw many people there were like oh my god baby this this this someone is holding his hand someone is kissing his mouth someone is kissing his head and until the family it's okay before I tell you that the family is so sad that everyone is getting angry and the children infection but random people are similar but is this good no it's not but people now are getting aware before people know that we have little resistance maintain people are getting aware but I feel only close family members who are dealing if they are doing it on the forehead and all it's fine but yeah some random stranger which you get from baby they kiss it they touch the baby I don't recommend it okay baby skin and adult skin how do they grow differently and what differences are there in both as I have told babies use to skin 30 % thinner compared to the adult skin and usually adult skin approximately 2 years almost partially adult skin so first 2 years babies grow grow ori hotei hai and by the age of two to three years maximum wo almost adult skin ko cross kar jati hai.
52Adult skin jitni ajaati hai. So if two years ke baad ek joh 15 year old kid hai versus two year old kid hai Almost same with nothing is exact same but haan joh growth exponentially joh hori hotei hai it takes a plateau almost. Okay. Then if like a normal jaysay har kisi ki jaysay life change bada rhea aga. Joh exposure ho raha hai uski saap se rata hai. Kuch difference nai hota ba? Thoada sa haan but zahada nahi. do they need different care initially after two years as well no I mean baby products gentle I mean even for the adults also if you use gentle products it's better yeah if you if you are using products which are non-toxic which are paraben free it's not that only children should be using paraben free products even adults should be using paraben free what should adults use baby products they can use and some so many people are using and they are very happy with the results but people are obsessed today For baby skin, gentle skin and baby products to use.
47Just like Korean glow is going on, baby glow is going on. Everyone will be using baby products only. They'll be like, don't keep all adult products. I'll be using only baby products. Because at least some company thinks about baby products 10 times. What are we putting? I don't think about adult products. I don't think about adult products. That's what I'm saying. There are many new companies. They just put anything. So many perfume, so many fragrances. Just give a smell. So many body washes you see. how many fragrances are there feel good but all these are harmful we are not keeping our skin we are not keeping our skin for babies we are thinking that this is hypogenic this is our skin so at least if you have non-toxic product to yourself it's good only but why do you think this is a trend of adults to use all baby products because I saw I was reading a forum where I was that baby shampoo is the fastest growing category in some state in America for adults now there is shampoo adults baby shampoo are buying and that's the fastest growing category adults will buy baby after 5 years baby products because baby products are more scientifically tested even they are also products they are also think twice before putting any ingredient so that's why if baby skin suits the adult will do wow I've never thought of it I don't even think like I'll buy a baby product you will after 5 years maybe they'll make only with the same ingredient products after 5 or 10 years maybe that can come that they're gentle and made products but does it matter if I use baby products versus normal products something does it matter on my skin long term if it's gentle on your skin if it's toxin free majority of the products you'll use today if you keep on using it same product for a prolonged time then you'll see like before paraben had been in the products when we knew that we had been in the products that we had been in the endocrine problems PCOS case, infertility issues and puberty is soon coming out why is it coming out?
53because there is no one knows what is the ingredient whatever you add, paraben is added paraben from paraben case reports are so many that the hormone production problem is coming out so now the products are coming out paraben free and also your talc should also be removed from the powders these days because talc can be quite side effects why? what about talc use kids? many people use a lot of powder in kids it's a lot of powder powder should never be used in kids this is shocking before we used in fact to use a lot of powder in fact but powder has two problems number one is the inhalational problem they can inhale and respiratory issues can be and second is the common ingredient talc talc is linked with cancer due to contamination with asbestos what happens asbestos is basically a chemical which studies have proven it is linked with cancer so this is why talc free powders start in the market but talc free powders should we use or not below 6 months no powders above 6 months if you use folds like armpits that is their personal choice but not near the face because you can inhale So there was a study by American Academy of Pediatrics that people warn that don't put talcum or talc powders because they have problems in the lungs.
21Inhalation is a problem and long term lungs will be broken if you give them talc. Is that true? Yeah, that is the number one reason talc has been removed. And what premature babies do with skin infections? होने की ज़्यादा chances होते हैं premature babies की जो skin होती है specifically जो top layer होती है stratum corneum it is 10 times thinner than that of a term baby तो इसलिए उनमे water loss भी ज़्यादा होता है तो उसमें क्या precautions लेने चाहिए जो preterm babies होते हैं उनमें हम कहते हैं कि आप उनका since water loss बहुत ज़ादा होता है तो हम कहते हैं कि सर को ढग के रखो उनको कैप पे नाओ हाथ में mittens पे नाओ पैर में socks पे नाओ all time secondly adequate amount of layering होनी चाहिए उनमे जितने आप normal term baby को पिलाते हो उसे एक layer extra thirdly जब तक वो 2kg की नहीं होते हैं we don't use any products we just ask them to do sponging with lukewarm water 2 kgs to the child only pour you with warm water after 2 kg you can start proper bath if you are premature then long term is that the difference?
29long term and eventually they get to the term and then to an healthy adult it's fine if taken care of very gently if you are premature then long term is that the difference is light or something? No, no. Because the brain development of premature babies is very different than a term baby. Eventually they get to that stage. As they grow up, they go on the same track. Unless until some insults are going to happen, like premature TK time, if they have a hypoxia or oxygen, they have a bleeding, then there are long term implications. If their course is good until the full term, then they lead a normal life.
09Okay. It's like adults, children also have some dry skin, oily skin. Some children have a lot of dry skin. Some children have a lot of dry skin. Some children have a lot of healthy skin. Again, it depends on the genetics of the baby. And in winter specifically, children have a lot dry skin? How do you take care of that? There are three main tips of the baby's tips. Number one is bathing. When you have a child in the winter, make sure you have a window and a shutter. The second is bathing should be with lukewarm water. The temperature is 36 to 37. The bathing is not to be done very long. When you have a child in the winter, make sure you have a body to be done.
58The last is to take your head and ask your head first. After the bathing, make sure you have a child to wrap it properly. And again, you have to wash your head. dry second step is moisturization winters because of the cold air very quickly your skin dehydrated at least twice a day your skin moisturize and third is clothing winters make sure that your children wear one layer extra inner layer should always be cotton under you have woolen synthetic cloth which touch inner layer should be cotton. You should wear whatever you need. Okay? And over clothing also doesn't have to do because if you have to do over clothing then the child will be more heat or sweat and the other rashes are going to risk.
48But why not put in cotton and other cloths? Because the child has allergies. Cotton is the safest of all. Another, is allergies because it irritates the skin. What allergies are going to be? Rashes. Rashes. Because it irritates cotton. Cotton is very soft on the skin. And which type skin allergies which can happen and people keep in mind one is the heat rash which is very common over clothing because of heat rash when outdoor activities in sun or direct sun when they play heat rash and heat rash are very common so you can simple light cotton clothes well ventilated clothes if you need heat rash then you can soothing agent like calamine or good moisture reserve use ki or saktay hai uske liye secondly joh allergies bachche ko hoti hai since baby skin is very sensitive those are insect bite allergies normally adult ko kya hota hai ek jaga machya kaata to wahi pere aapka ek nishana jatay hai but bachche mein kya rata hai agar ek insect ne ek jaga bhi kaata to this skin is so sensitive ki pore hath mein bhi allergy hojati hai to specifically in monsoon bachche ko insect bite allergies are very common to islaya mmonsoon mein kehate hai agar bachche chota hai bhot so you can use mosquito net.

07If you have a child, then you can use natural mosquito repellent patches, which are based on eucalyptus oil or citrulline oil. You can use those herbal patches. Also, in the monsoon season, you can lose full sleeves, clothes, pants, pants, pants, and pants. And you should all out? No. Why? What is chemicals in the child's inhalation risk? It is not tested safe. But baby can't be available. And when they use coils they are good for adults. It's very harmful. This is why natural eucalyptus soil based herbal patches are not non-toxic so you can put a patch on the cup of while going out. At home that is that is need to be.
03There are some babies who are allergic to cow milk, some babies are allergic to nuts, some babies are allergic to soya. So, those allergies when we introduce our children, then we know. Although Indian settings, food allergies are less compared to the Western world, So basically, when we introduce nuts to the child, we should always introduce one nut at a time. If you use cashew, then you use walnut, then you use walnut. If the child is suited to the suit, then you can also use the mixture to the child. But if my child has cow milk allergy, which is a big thing to say in India, because everyone has cow milk, it's increased.
51So how do you know? Cow milk protein allergy is very common. and usually when it's realized, when a child starts at the beginning of breastfeeding, it's initially stable, but when it's introduced to the outside of the cow milk, it's skin rashes, some children have diarrhea, allergies, allergies, allergies, it's not only skin allergies, it could be gastric allergies, it's lose motions, some children have excessive colic. So, if you have a child introduced something, introduced to you that I introduced to you so you should inform your doctor they'll tell you is it exactly the food which you have eaten or something else but no allergy test doesn't happen in cases in severe allergy from cow milk protein so if mother consume cow milk and breastfeeding then the child's rash will be.
47So in that case, in severe allergies, we need to eliminate cow milk from mother's diet as well. So if it's like this, first of all, the food challenge that you introduce your food, that's the best test. If you don't know that, there are skin prick tests and blood tests available in the market these days, which we test, which is allergic from children. That you can get. There's one more thing, there's no research on it, but I get a question and a lot of my friends, who are new parents have a question. Do you have to take wet wipes? Do you have to use wet wipes for babies? Wet wipes, when we came before, they were very much alcohol-based and parabens.
25But these days, many companies have come with the water wet wipes. Which is 99 % water. And just make sure if you're using wet wipes, it should be alcohol-free and paraben-free. Best, if you're at home, try to use cotton-cutter. Use it in lukewarm water. dip do it, use do it. If you are travelling out then carry a water based wet pipes. And sanitizing wet pipes do you want? No, no, no. Alcohol based no. Again, only water based wet pipes and only for travelling. At home use cotton based clothes. Nothing else? That is the best and safest. Talking about diaper, ideal diaper which one is called? Two types of diapers are available.
09One is the disposable diapers and one is the cloth diaper. cotton based both of these advantages or disadvantages which are disposable diapers those are easy to use travel for travel plus absorbencies are more and whereas the cloth diaper is the skin breathed ventilation is economical but practically what I tell to my patients is first 3 months you can use disposable diapers because the child does a lot of urine motion it is very difficult for the mother to clean again and again clot diaper. So first three months, you can use disposable diaper. Make sure you change it frequently. Because if you have a very long time in contact, the diaper is possible.
53Three months after that, you can use clot diaper in daytime and in nighttime disposable diapers. As a child is growing, you can switch to cotton cloth diapers. If you are using a cotton cloth diaper, there are so many in the markets. You use baby detergent, which is toxin free, and you can use it. and wash it. Diaper rash can be bad? Is there a problem? Diaper rash is very discomforting. When you don't know, you don't know how much you don't know. After that, it was diaper rash. Because diaper rash, the skin is red, inflamed and itchy. And it's very painful. So diaper rash to prevent is the best step.
33Because diaper rash happens, the child becomes very uncomfortable. And how can you feel? Normal cotton cloth diaper can be used. But make sure the children are the same as they use the same as they use the same as they use as they use as they use But in rural areas it's difficult to afford a diaper So that's the problem So you use cotton cotton diaper but you change wash you change any diaper be it disposable or cotton there's no problem This I'm telling for the practical purpose that they use 8-10 times and they use the same as they use the same as they use the same in urban settings time not to wash the clothes 20-20 times.
14Okay. Where the affording issue comes, look for cotton diapers and they are completely safe, easy to the skin. And how many times you should change one diaper? At least every three years to do it. If the child is first soil or wet it, you can change it. Okay. Tell me about rashes. Which normal rashes are on skin? Which should not be able to panic and keep it. It's fine. okay number one is the stalk bite which red rashes on the forehead and on the eyelids sometimes back neck on the forehead those are just like birth marks in fact which are red patches we call angels it is believed that angels kiss and kiss those are just the birth marks which usually 2-3 years fade on the back second is baby acne which is the baby pimples हो जाते हैं, tiny red bumps हो जाते हैं, those are because of the maternal hormones, उसके लिए भी आपको कोई treatment की ज़रुवत नहीं है, 4-6 weeks तक baby के acne clear हो जाते हैं, third is baby milia, baby milia क्या होता है, वो white bumps दिखते हैं, जब बच्च पैदा होता है, white छोटे -छोटे -छोटे bumps दिखते हैं, those are nothing but the dead skin accumulation,
37In the child's body, red rashes start to start starting to start starting to start. Parents think that no, it's allergic to it. And those are usually erdma toxicum neunitorum. These are kind of rashes which are completely normal and usually disappears by 7 to 14 days of life. So, if you look at these rashes in newborn baby period, stock bite, baby acne, melia or erdma toxicum, these are normal rashes which you don't need to worry about. No tension is not. need to be a rash. No. There is a rash that should be tension. If you have used a product for baby and you think that you have a redness or a person or a person who has a skin.
15Then first of all, the product used to stop. Apply a gentle baby moisturizer and see if it's not subsiding. Visit your periodation. Antiseptic products can you use for babies? Antiseptic. Like cuts, which we use for big people. If it's a wound, if there is a cut or a wound, then antiseptic creams are there. you can use it. There's no harm. There's no problem. A common myth which parents do in the newborn period which are wrong. When the child was born then when the child was born then the child was born. What? The child was born and the child was born. The child was born. The child was born. In fact, when you don't have diaper then make sure the diaper the child was born.
00The child was born. So initially 7 to 10 days you can touch anything to do with amulacal cord. It will go down and once it falls, you can wipe it with a sterile swab. Once a day, wipe it. If you have a redness, swelling or discharge, then after consulting with your doctor, you can use it with an oil products. And whatever you like, oil, ghee, you can use it. No, you can use it. You can use it. Amulacal substance.
35What is the infection?
59So, that's medium. And there are bacteria growing. And when bacteria growing up, the umbilical cord connection is your bloodstream. So, bacteria will go to your bloodstream and the child will cause infection. And we have seen cases, we have admitted cases also, which are just because of these practices, which are admitted to the IV start. So, that's why umbilical cord in the first 7-10 days you have to do something else. And you have to keep the diaper down. Because the diaper is still up. पर रहेगा, तो urine potty भी उस पर touch होएगी, तो उसको infection करने कर रिसक रहेगा. Okay, what's the last message?
33जितने भी ये parents देख रहे हैं, या लोग देख रहे हैं, जिनके अगर हो बच्चे हैं, what is your closing message for them? देखो, skin is the largest organ of the body, and बच्चों की skin बहुत ही sensitive होती है. So, whatever products you use, just read the ingredients first. Also, don't be too harsh on your baby's skin. You deal with it very gently. And secondly, love each skin tone. You don't go after fair skin, don't go after skin tone. Each skin tone is beautiful. Encourage self-love in children. Encourage confidence in them. And it reflects on long run for sure. Perfect. Thank you so much, sir.
