In short
India’s “real crisis” is not just headline growth or rupee depreciation; it’s import dependence (especially gold and dollar-linked payments), weak manufacturing/back-end supply chains, policy/incentive design, and unemployment/insufficient job creation. The episode argues that currency weakness won’t automatically boost exports if inputs are imported (“double whammy”).
Guest
Jayant Mundhra, described as an economics/geopolitics commentator focused on India’s long-term growth story. (No other named guest appears in the transcript.)
Key claims
- India imports ~800 tons of gold annually but produces ~1–1.5 tons domestically; gold import bills rise even if gold prices fall in rupee terms due to dollar-linked payments and FX costs.
- Rupee depreciation (~60% over ~14 years) has not translated into strong export growth (exports as % of GDP cited around 25% to 21%); Vietnam is used as a contrast where exports rose structurally.
- Most Indians will likely never own homes (housing affordability problem).
- CPI inflation understates lived inflation because CPI weights (e.g., food ~46%) and item coverage lag reality (healthcare/diagnostics, changing consumption patterns).
- Solutions require domestic production of inputs (APIs/key starting materials, fertilizers chemicals, etc.), not just top-down incentives; incentives must be broad and predictable.
Notable examples
- Fertilizer: India imports key inputs; urea shortfall cited; Russia joint venture for urea capacity (~2 million tons) discussed.
- Energy: energy import dependence rising (83% to 89% and projected higher); critique of prioritizing LPG rollout over electrification.
- Tech/services dependency: concerns about ongoing foreign AI subscription spend and lack of domestic “platform” companies.

Transcript
Automatic transcript. May contain errors.0:00We have instructions from our Prime Minister that you don't buy gold and don't buy gold. Why don't you buy gold? Look, this situation is very serious. Gold is one of the biggest import centers for India. Close to about 800 tons of gold a year and we produce close to about 110. That is a serious problem that we have to buy this money. And now we have a situation where the value of the price is falling. Jayant Mundhra, one of the sharpest voices today on economics, geopolitics and India's long-term growth story. In this episode, we will talk about gold imports, dollar dependency, India's manufacturing reality and what can India become in the next superpower in the truth.
0:38Many people talk about the price of the price. If it depreciates, it's good for our exports. What will we grow in the real world? Over the last 14 odd years, the price has depreciated by over 60%. Our exports as a percent of GDP are 25 % to 21%. Where are the big exports? Come on.
0:55My simple prediction is that I can show you. We are going to see that the rupee hit 150 dollars. India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. But on an individual level, why does it feel so bad? Our good people are like this, which is very bad. Unemployment is very much. For solving it, you need to grow more than 3. The fastest growing in the world is not enough if it is not fast enough for your requirements. What do you know about a simple thing? So, see inflation means that if something is so much today or next year, the difference is so much. But where is the question? Our government defines that if you see oral inflation, how much you see oral inflation, how much you see oral inflation?
1:34So, we take a look at index, which is called consumer price index. According to average Indian, what is eating, what is consuming, what is consuming. We give you a weightage to different things. So, it's 46 % of the weightage that was for food alone. That our country's a good price for the most. The fees of your child's school has less weight in the CPA calculation versus the price of the price. Because the price of the price is higher than the price, the government will be difficult to win. Prediction number two was taken to us. I had to talk about it. This is my simple prediction. Most Indians will never be able to own a home.
2:06If someone wants to buy a home, they will have a house and a small house, or they will have a house. And many people will not afford this. What is the third prediction that we haven't covered? So prediction number three is that Before we move on, subscribe to this channel so that we will make more insightful and better podcasts for you. And this whole show is available on Spotify, where you can follow us. Enjoy the show.
2:39Tell me if someone is watching you for the first time, who knows who you are, what you are doing, how would you explain them? who you are what do you do why should next one hour someone spend to listen to you my simple that I talk a lot of data and second I usually I talk that people don't talk I don't say that I talk good I talk bad I say that I talk that people don't talk interesting and why did you listen to this podcast because I think I think that you should run your brain to your mother If you are reading, you are already reading. If you are reading, you are already reading. If you are reading, you are already reading.
3:23You have made a lot of money. You have invested in investment. You have not made a lot of hope. Whatever you tell, you will be doing. So, I will add content to this. For this, I will push this thing. Use your mind. In this whole podcast, whatever you tell, I will push this. Interesting. Interesting. So, use your mind. Hanji, Hanji, don't say it. Very good point to start. Yesterday, we have instructions in India for every single person. Our Prime Minister. So, we should do Hanji, Hanji, or not do it. But before we go there, I want to make people understand. So, yesterday, as we speak, yesterday, we had instructions that you don't buy gold and gold.
4:11You stay in the house. Work from home. do more carpooling and reduce foreign trips and do less foreign marriages. This is what he said in layman terms. First point is why a country's prime minister is saying that don't buy gold? Why don't we buy gold? Look, the situation is very serious. I'll explain it in a simple way. I'll explain. Tell us how much gold we import in the year. And how much we produce here. We import close to about 800 tons of gold a year into India. And we produce close to about 1 ton. 800 ton, 1 ton. Okay. Simple. And we produce 1 ton. Yes. Now people can say that we have KGF, was popular with the Kolar Goldfield, which was very popular.
5:09The thing is, we had a mine, but we didn't have much of a big producers. The mine was good for the sun. And India was only active major mine. But the thing is, it didn't come so much. Today, your Lloyd Group is an investment. They are activating the mine in the country. It's a little bit more than 1.5 tons. How much will our Kuma Fira die? 2.5 tons? 3 tons. Our imports are already 800 tons a year and are increasing. 800 tons. You will see roughly how much number will reach. The mind will be getting lost. Gold is one of the biggest import centers for India. And now we are in a situation where the value of the price is falling.
5:57So, the bill is 800 tons. If we ask 800 tons again, the bill is increasing. but it's not increasing in volume but it's increasing in India and that is a serious problem that we have to buy money so for a common person, what is my difference for me? you have to be this way that if you buy a loan then for a loan our government will pay a dollar our government will pay a dollar the payment is mostly in dollars if you need a dollar first of all, how much our RBI will pay a dollar for this? I'm telling you this in a very layman language. For$100, first, you need to pay$1.00. You should say, you need to pay$85.00.
6:39Now, suddenly, you need to pay$94.00. Suddenly, there are more than that which are going abroad. You're not living in your economy. And who are paying? We are doing it. Now, think about it. If you pay$1.00, you need to pay$1.00. If we pay$85.00, we're giving$95.00. Our income is tight. We have 10.00. It's a impact. I will tell you a simple example from another example. Now it's 95 point something. That's what we're doing. We're giving 10 rupees extra. Yeah. And think about that the price of the price is this. Now the price is how much it is. $4 ,500,$4 ,600 per ounce. Think about that the price of the price is this in the outside market.
7:18But if the price is depreciated, the price of the price is outside. But if we import the price of the price of the price, it will increase the price of the price. We buy the price of the price of the price. It will increase the price. That's why our government says that we can import less. But the question comes from that, that we can make our currency strong. My question is that we can make our currency strong. Why do I say that? Where does currency value come from? It's two ways. Number one, or that you have currency in a lot of trade. Trade is in the dollar, in rupees, it's not in trade. Some of our border sharing, which are in our states, then we have Maldives, Nepal, Bhutan, foreign
8:14foreign foreign
China begin to give a lot of debt अब वो debt को service करने के लिए ये debt में आपके दो option होते हैं कि either you take dollar loan or you take yuan based loan. Yuan वाला अगर वो आपको basis, what happens in the US? So I'll give you an example. People, loan, dollar can't buy in China currency in China? I'll give you an example. So Kenya, Africa is a big country, powerful country. It has a whole real-world line of 5 billion dollar. The loan that was bought was in the dollar.
9:14Okay. Now China came in and said, we've made it. We need to pay payment. We don't do it. We don't do it. No problem. Okay. We're giving the dollar, we're giving it. We're giving it to the yuan. We've financed it. and that's the whole transaction because the currency has been given to China and Zambia Zambia is now saving around 250 million dollars on this one right if you have the payment you have to do China for China is important so you can do it if you have a dollar in the future then you have to take it and then you can use it the tension. The tension is over. That's the angle here. Now it comes to India.
9:58I don't understand 0.5 basis. So, understand that if I am a Zambia, okay. Just understand that I am a Zambia, you are in China. Okay. Now, I have to take you from your loan, you have to take it. Okay. One thing is, it's a currency. I will do that. It's over. The currency is over. But, we say that, no, this is a third currency, I want to do that. so I'll buy currency before I already buy currency. I already have to pay transaction fee on that. exchange rate on that. It goes on to that. Plus, when you go to the bank, you have to buy it. Now, when you use it again, you can use it again, you can also buy it again.
10:39There are losses. China has said, our yuan has used it. Our income is gone, we will do it. Where do you buy it? China has said, that brother, the dollar loan, we would have to get out of it, because they were little dollars. We would have to get out of it, so you would have to get out of it. Okay, so it's just like, I will take the load of your loan. Yeah. I think your 5 billion dollar loan, I think that you have to get out of it in 2 years, so I will get out of it in 2 years. Yeah. You will give me in 3 years, you will give me 1 year extra, or you will give me in 2 years in a little bit, whatever.
11:15And why do you know that? Now, when it comes to a country like Zambia, it has dollars' shortage. but when it comes to China last year that was 1.1 trillion dollars they have a surplus they don't know how to do it they can actually do that now if we make a strong rupee or we become a reserve currency for some countries we are a decent reserve currency it's a little bit for Maldives it's a little bit for Nepal it's a little bit for Sri Lanka for Bhutan but in the end these are very very small economies very small countries minuscule yeah our majority states have big economies no offense to anybody from these countries but there is so there comes that what is our currency demand what is the problem we import everything literally everything we talk about we are the pharmacy of the world people don't realize that pharmacy Your medicines are made from your own.
12:19APIs. APIs, right? Roughly about 70 % of all the APIs that we need is coming from China. Who are making 30 %? KSM's. KSM's is what? Key starting materials. KSM's is coming from China. What is that? Our government is taking a remedy. Let's do a PLI scheme. We will give our industries a few incentives. You will start making APIs. Some plants are active. they have been in the other plant. It's a plant that has been in Dr. Redis. What did China do? It crashed those very epic prices up to 40%, 50%. How do you compete? The India has reduced 40 % in China. Yeah. Now the result is, how do we compete with it?
13:05Right? So, the story comes here that it's very important and number one, are we ready to pay a bit extra for the India meat stuff? Number one. Number two, without that, there is no solution to it. we have to really figure out two things number one how do we consume more of what we make in India number two how do we ensure that what we are making in India is not coming out of the back end so for example we proudly say that we have made many fertilizer from India potash is coming out of the way sulfur is coming out of the way basic materials now this is the whole situation because of war where potash comes from from Middle East from the majority.
13:45Our Lanka is getting all this. I'm saying where is the sulfur? Where is the majority? The majority is coming from the outside. Our again, the Lanka is getting the result. We are not making it. What happens now? We have to buy it. I'll tell you about it. So, Urea. Right? Urea, if we talk about it, we import close to about, so our overall domestic consumption is about 40 million tons a year. 30 million tons, we have to make in India. 30, we don't make it. 30 is what? 25 % of our consumption. It's not a small number. How do we solve for it? It's one way that it becomes, if you can't build make captive capacities out.
14:28What did India do? It's 50-50 joint venture with Russia. Because Uria already comes from Russia. We did a joint venture which is now 2 million tonk on the plant. It will eliminate the hurdles for at least 20 % of the imports that we do. Let's do that. We will have to build many routes across different sectors. We will have to address them. Now think about coal India. Coal India has a joint venture called BHEL. And said that you know what, China, US and other countries make so many petro-cams. So you think that your petrol, diesel, crude is a crude. In the end it's a hydrocarbon. Coal is also hydrocarbon.
15:10It's a carbon product. right with carbon you can create chemicals here but it's a costlier process coal India finally said let's do it the government is giving incentive BHL got tie up they are building a plant which is L &T is executing and they are building a plant for ammonium nitrate ammonium nitrate our annual consumption is 8.8 lakh tons Deepak group is here which is 6 lakh tons capacity but they operate 75 % overall capacity Why do they come from Russia? Because of government incentives, Coal India and Belka are saying that we will compete on that rate. So let's build a plant. Now the plant is 6.6 lakh tons of capacity.
15:53What is that? We will become a net exporter. Let's do more of these. As we are doing basic, and there are many basic things. Every industry will solve it. Then we will eliminate everything from outside. The supply chain will solve it. It is not the top-down approach. Let's do it first. Then we will make it. In some industries, it works. In electronics, it works. In the majority of the things, you have to go away. But then, if the government gives an incentive or subsidy to maintain it, then it will take money. Yes. If the government doesn't have much money, where there is a major fight, then how will it take all the industries?
16:33The money is already given. So, first of all, China also gives money to each industry. gives. Okay. India is also giving. So for example JSW Group comes. JSW Group announced that it has a big region. I will invest there 25 ,000 crore and what I will do there? I will do a lithium ion batteries plant and another I will do a solar ecosystem manufacturing. Great. What incentive has been given to them? 110 % of the investment that you are doing 110 % of that as SGST refund SGST which will become a company or will come in the years that refund you will get with your electricity practically your investment is getting all the money you will get back we are still giving we are not giving there is money with the government the government the government is saying you will get back you will get back that model is also that the government will not be short so that is possible problem was only GSW Group should not get back everyone should get back Now that is a whole together debate.
17:38If someone in Faridabad is in their 40-40 people, they will build their unit, that they will build something there, they will not get anything. But they get this, that they will be a big investment. That is something to be figured out. But possibilities are not. Okay. And second thing is, think about it. In FY25, our Pan-India, RBI, which is called by its own, a little bit of 5 ,5 lakh crore, across states and centers, we have talked about freebies. Okay. state governments which were the states they had in this time they had promised some 1.05 lakh they had announced for freebies and cash and notes elections they were actually spending something 1.6 lakh they were how much it's more but priorities why are you saying that you have to say we are not we are not getting our incentive.
18:34Now that is a problem. Why? It actually destroys the investment climate. What is the message of the industry? Yes, we are saying that we will give it, but it is not coming. And that's a very big problem. Where do you go? You are going to the other side. It is not endless. It's more about what are your priorities. So that's what my point is, right? Government priorities may be XYZ. So if it is on the other side, then somewhere will be lost. Where will the money go? there are two kind of incentives unlimited money is not unlimited unlimited money is not unlimited if they have 100 rupees which they have every year they want to give me 20 % 20 rupees in industries so that we can compete with China and other countries but these 20 rupees will be going somewhere else where are they going?
19:23see I'll put it this way we are not a very very strong society economy me. Okay. In most of the things we are in a deficit. Infrastructure about good water about everything. We are in deficit. Okay. So priorities are endless. It's more about what needs to be solved first. So as to ensure that the resources keep on rising to solve more of problems later on. Okay. It's more about that. So if we think that we'll solve it in education later before we solve it. Then some people may be right because they will get but longer term you have to say educated workforce then you have to problem in the same way industries we have to decide is it now a priority or okay now we have to do it before we talk about it before we have to to give 21 ,000 to give us to start before we have to get a lady who has to get a child to give us to give us to give us if that is the priority then we have to solve it before we have to get back and the bigger problem is the world is not going to stop it.
20:28Okay, if we have to talk about it, we will stop it. We will not stop it. China will not stop it. I have so much fun. People say, China plus one, China plus one. Where is China plus one? China's share of global manufacturing has only risen in the last five years. Where is China plus one? China is itself becoming China plus one. And that is something nobody talks about. Interesting bite I'll give you. So, people say, say that many people talk about currency, that the rupee depreciate etc. Many people talk about this that when it comes to your rupee, if it is depreciated, if the value is reduced, it's good for our exports.
21:08We will grow. What is the truth? Over the last 14 odd years, rupee has depreciated by over 60%. It's 60 % value. Okay. Our exports as a percent of GDP 25 % to 21 % Where are the big exports? Now talk about Vietnam Vietnam more or less structural way In a way of the currency It's a methodical way Their exports Every year It's a 14 % In the past 15 years So it's not about Your currency devalue Then the exports will increase Now where is the problem? Your exports will increase When when your raw material is, the back end supply chain is, you also make yourself. If your raw materials are also that you are importing, you will not do it completely.
22:04So, it's double whammy. But people don't understand. I always say that when we don't solve it, practically, we will increase in the world. Yeah. Right? At the same time, we are selling the world, it will be less. So, result is, the demand will be lower. What will the demand be lower? It will be lower. It will be lower. That's why I wrote it. My simple prediction is that I wrote it before. My question is going to be on the phone. Look at this one. I can show this camera here. This is your prediction one? Yes. I have written three predictions. And I am very clear that we are going on the road today.
22:48The rupees is going to be at$150. a dollar and it's not a big thing. We are going to see the rupee hit 150 dollars. 150 per dollar. Yes. And I know if you say it's a bad thing. My first thing is this should not make you angry. This should make you ask, okay, what can we do to solve this? This is a serious problem. Nobody ever talks about this one. For this, we have to seriously do things. What we are saying about Modi, for example, let's import less of gold. Let's, you know, commute less let's go out less come back to the house so that we can save petrol diesel when will it be done when will it be done when will it be done with people when will it be done with the people of the house this is no more covid and to be very frank people will feel bad but this year 5 years ago India is not even heavy that Modi has said that we will save the money and we will save the money it will not happen right people have begun to ask certain questions people have people are no more that But, so here we have a real question here.
23:50We really need to solve the basics. If you want to import gold, as a country, we can import less. The solution is, we can import less so that we can import less. If we want to import less, that's the way. You start to domestically produce. People can say, hey, where do we do it? It was not in China. China did what was, China started exploration. What is the outcome? what happens in November China announced a major gold discovery towards the northern part where it's deserts are low grade of gold but gold is now that's the job of it towards the end of December one more such announcement in December they announced Asia's largest please you can google it this camera please google it Asia's largest undersea deposit of gold we talk about blue economy blue economy in our budget announced it I was not sure that this year was the first year.
24:44I didn't know that. In our blue economy, we had to say that our fishing economy which is the fisherman ecosystem, fish farmers, what are they doing? They were going to go into the the sea of the sea, in the sea of 6 km depth, the Asia's biggest gold deposit was going to be planning on mining. They were just looking for the thorns. They were looking for it. It's up to us. What do we say to always? We are the biggest repository of, we have the biggest reserves of thorium. Right? China was not even in top five. And quite recently, they announced that, okay, we have found thorium. It was not. It was not.
25:32What was it for? They went abroad and acquired the mines. Why aren't we doing it? And the problem is that if they import the price of the dollar, rate is getting paid. Ensure that the company that we are paying for the payment and import is the company in India. Why are we doing this joint venture in Russia? That this company is our company. If our government gives so big subsidies on the URIA, then it will be 50 % of our money. Indian will come back to us. When it comes to these things, why are we not acquiring it? There are two ways to solve it. Oil and gas. I believe that the government of this before has not done anything.
26:15This government has tried to do but what happens to the oil and gas? You can open the area for exploration. You can start exploration but if you get it or not, guarantee it is not. You can get it. As you recently read, Hardeep Singh Puri Ji, which is our petroleum and gas minister, he told us that it's a big event for India that we found a gas deposit. That was a methane gas release. So it's a big positive. But let us be realistic as well. You've discovered that there's gas. Is it commercially viable to extract it? It's going to be more than five years. And it's proven that we'll start investing there to extract it.
26:59Which is another three, four years. Until maybe two governments have come. But I'm trying to say is, it's a very long gestation thing. question we asked for questions, sir, maybe 12 years ago, right? It didn't happen in that. Okay. I don't have a... I don't have a... I don't have a... We have actually increased a lot of exploration activity. Now it's not our hands. Now you're not getting out of it. But what are we doing to ensure that we can do more? Because this problem is not going to end one day. It will come again. When Modi ji came to power, 83 % of our energy imported from outside. Today it's 89 % of our energy.
27:37It will be very soon 95.
27:41We don't have control on that. That's the problem. To solve for. But India is so hungry. Power hungry. Consumption hungry. At this point. We are growing economy. We are growing. Our needs are growing. Definitely 83, 89, 89 and 95. What can anybody do in this at this point? So a lot can be done. Number one. Exploration part that we talked about. number two. That's happening. That's a big deal. Number two is replacement part of it. So for example, we know that we don't produce gas. We produce a lot. Roughly 55 % of what we need comes from imports. That's a big critical dependency. So why are we promoting gas in every house?
28:28the cylinder in every house? Neeti Ayok said in 2015 that we should be promoting electric stores. Electricity is in India. And the government's program to reach electricity. It will solve it. We should have focused on that. Why did we not do that? What do you think? It's a simple type of problem. That, to reach electricity in every house is a 5-10 year project. To reach cylinder in every house is a 2 years project. In the election,

28:55It's more about what Aytel Ji always said. We should not live in the country. The country is defined in 5-5 years. You feel bad for someone. But the truth is that that our good policies are on this, that if you have 5 years later, you will not know who will come. We have to win the election too. So, what we see in the first place, they will do it. That is where the problem comes. What we need is, and again, you know, there are two very loving things. Number one, our governments turn serious, do reforms, take action, deliver things. When? When India is on. Because there is no option. Otherwise, they don't really do much reforms.
29:36Why? Short-sharabha Backlash It's not an easy country To operate On the government side I would like to say It's not easy It's a different system In every state There are four people They are living in their own They are living in their own They are not getting They are not getting It's not easy To do something I think that But at the same time That's why You have to meet A strong man That's right You have to do everything And in the end You have to do everything You have to do everything Fair You have to change You have to change You have to do everything Number one number two is that you are very important for you we are in the state we are practically importing everything if we don't solve this we are going to be a consumer country I will give a straight stat the divergence of Europe and US in 2016-17 years in 2008 when the financial crisis was in Europe and US had similar levels of economy Both economy was about 15-16 trillion dollars.
30:38Okay. Fast forward to today. Europe's economy is almost 70 % of US. 30 % is small. Why has that happened? Because over the years, manufacturing was out of both countries. Europe has also sold its services. If you look at major expenses, everything is from US companies. When was the last time you heard a 10 billion dollar tech IPO in Europe? It's not happening anywhere. In the US, we are still here in China. We are still here in Europe. They are the net importers of services, of technology. The same is playing out with us. We are happy to say, brother, look at the start link, Elon Musk. What are we celebrating?
31:22We should ask this question. New Zealand is making a new satellite internet venture, which is saying that we are in the world. New Zealand is so much country. they say we need to supply in the world satellite internet why are we not doing it serious questions should be here because if we don't solve for it what is going to happen is we are going to be a net buyer net importer for life long we are so celebrate that BSNL has joint venture that he will give us services and he will distribute it for satellite internet we are becoming a foreign tech distributor How much are you being a computer?
32:01And this is a strategic PSU of the Government of India. It's the task that we end up with that dependency. And we're saving it today. This doesn't make any sense at all. These are things to solve for. I'm telling this too, that many people say, Why are we making LLMs? This is the... Hey brother, how many members do you have out here in your team? How many people are in your team? 150, 140. How many people of them use either Chad, GPT or Claude? Almost everyone. Right? I'm good at that. I think both of them use. I think there are 200 subscriptions. If you have a subscription for$20, you haven't given it$200.
32:38No, full package, all of them use. We use a lot. How much is it? And this is not just you. I, this, that, all industry, all company is doing this. Where is this going? This is pure outgo of money from India. And we are critically dependent on foreign countries. China is not. Europe is actually solving for it France is that mystery they don't want to be dealing with OpenAI or with Gemini etc they are building for it what are we doing about it this is a serious question it's important to support the companies like Serwam I don't know them I don't get any money but we really need these companies I do it I've done some paid collaborations but we really need these companies we will never know why we are not making such companies otherwise we are only becoming net dependents and that's a big problem this is one thing 150 rupees per dollar we are taking it back we don't realize so you are saying that your prediction is that rupees and that will be higher and that will be until TAK HOTE RAHEGA, KYAUKİ DOUGH STRUCTURAL CHEIZE CHAIYA HOTI HEH AGER AAPKO APKI CARENCY AAR YAU AAPKA PAYSAS STRONG KARNA HO HO, ONE IS AAPKI GLOBAL DEMAND HONI CH gets KID AAPKI CARENCY KIA DEMAND HAY KISI NAH KISI TARIIKAY KI WUJAY SE HAYA TO APNES DUNIYA IMEN BAHUT LOAN DAY RAKHA HAYA DUNIYA IMEN AAPKISI CO COOI EK BETTER PAYMENT OPTION DETE HO YA DOOSERI COUNTRY KI HELP KARTE HO KISI REASON which we are doing now and we don't do much.
34:17That is one. Second is, here you have something that you need to do. And that will not be able to do until you have two specific things. One is, here you have not made a depth of supply chain. You are making end-to-end raw materials. You are making end-to-end. So that you can make things. Then you can make so good and so good. You can make so good that you will buy. That is one. And second is, here you have technological advancement. that you gave us so much for the technology that you provide the internet internet, wifi provide and satellite through the whole world these are the two things in India which all people say that if the currency devalue or less is then the export is increased that is false textbook definition, that is not happening because in the past few years or in the past decade we have not seen it in other countries where Vietnam is not happening Vietnam which is a contender for China plus one like India is a contender its currency doesn't fall so much but it's also going to grow more exports and India doesn't grow more this is your saying for this and then you're saying that after that now the sentiment in the country where they're saying that we don't need to use outside products which is true which is good we should do that and the gold that's not going to be able to buy which is also good in a way that we should buy less gold so that we become less dependent so that this is our prediction and date of 1.5 rupiah but that is not a long term actual solution.
35:52It's not possible. It's not possible that if people buy less gold then something will happen. I add two things. But I summarized your point perfectly. I'll say two things. Number one on the manufacturing side of things. The playbook is very simple. I'll give an example of a country that people think in Hindustan in India today. Bangladesh. We wear jeans and clothes. We make a good example of Bangladesh. Bangladesh is more than export from India. How can it happen? Kamal, tell us how it is. Before becoming a big time exporter of textiles and governments, they had their own set up. They reached a point where 85 % of whatever any person was wearing in Bangladesh was made in Bangladesh.
36:39How did this? They solved for the basics. They started to make their own clothes before. As I said, solve the basics. You have to do that for every industry. Let us first begin to make a process. Then tell us what happens. The set up has become a set up. The money is already gone. Now, if you make a choice for that, you can make a choice. You begin to compete with others. It's a unique thing. For example, think about that. In India, there are companies that that you can say that suitcases are made that's why that's why it's made China has a company that makes 12 companies suitcases make the machines set up which is the cost that's already been released that's already been released that's why things change let's solve for the basics first for our needs and for our needs and it will be easy to do in every category in every small category.
37:35It's not just that EV battery makes it good. If we make a camera, we don't make a camera. What we have to solve is small modules that go into it. Let's begin to make those. So I agree with this point and this is a very basic definition. I think we'll all understand. Why we can't do it is a question. Why we can't do it? That's the reason and the largest you're saying that we don't get government-led incentives so that we can make it easy so that we can compete in another country. compete government-led incentives but some people get so you are saying that this democratized and everyone gets but everyone gets do you think that's a fair way to do it yes absolutely it has worked out very fair way for countries like South Korea Japan Vietnam China China and also two states of India actually Tamil Nadu and Gujarat so for example
38:28Gujarat in so much business boom everything happens right what is the best thing about Guchirath I don't know tell me there's a policy you're small entrepreneurs or big entrepreneurs doesn't matter doesn't matter if you're investing in this pocket then you'll get this it's done not everybody has to go to approach the government on your level and then negotiate a package I should get 110 % SGST refund I should get so much I should go and plant that's when when you invest in a sector of any sector, you don't have to do policy for which you don't exist. Another thing for you and the audience as well, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu are two states which always, every time, every industry, when there is no policy, it should be dedicated to the manufacturing and the setup here.
39:18These are the two states that come first. Semiconductor manufacturing policy, in India, the first one to come out with it was Gujarat. Space Tech manufacturing which was your policy Gujarat Tamil Nadu and Karnataka and Telangana are the first ones to come up with again Gujarat Tamil Nadu is this in this pick any sector dedicated policy for that very sector these two states always see interesting question is MP why are you not doing it? why are you not doing it? who is who is who is that why is that Gujarat when semiconductor policy and it has been a half a year for that. The question is that it should be.
40:00And why is that? Your priorities are there. Think about it. In the end, the policies are there. There are bureaucrats. Right? Bureaucrats themselves have to be that enterprising. As well as, they should have knowledge too. I'm not saying that they don't have knowledge there. But more about, if you are in Gujarat, you are surrounded by industries, businessmen everywhere. You are dealing with them every single day. You are doing daily brainstorming if you can buy any investment, etc. They tell you, they do this. It's the future here. What's the future in China? What's the US? The future is its future.
40:32Then you become the policies. Fair. Tell me one thing. I'm switching gear on this. That India on the outside numbers, data, noise all around the world, not just our own. There is a narrative of our people which is that it's a lot of data. us go back to India one of the fastest growing economies in the world herko India ko I think like everybody's dying India star dikha hai abhi next decade humara dikha hai right to one of the fastest growing economies in the world her saal hum dhekhte abhi he bha gaya he bha gaya but on an individual level people like you and me or jo salaried employees hai ya joh joh bhi isko dhekhen unhain aur garib feel kyo hota hai or poorer kyo hota hai why aisa kyo hai ki humari economy is so deep se bha rhi hai but we feel like our money is growing so much or so much where we are probably going to be poor is that only a feeling that data back us I have a lot of opinion on that number one you and I don't come into that India if India is growing 6 % then we are probably doing 30-40-50 % but if we are growing with that India is not going to be 1-2 % more importantly a very big big tag famous tag what is fastest growing major economy what do we do if we have 80 people should eat freeqa freeqa leave it we are freeqa we are not realize we are not uria nano uria we have started so uria when we talk about
42:18uria dollar kuchka aata tha. Hmm. Tick hai. Iska rate bhenker bharia. Hmm. Lekin kisahan ke liye rate abhi bhi bhai hai. Toh yi extra joo korn bhar raha hai? Sarkar kitna bhar raha hai? Aapko beta hai. Hwari joh fertilizer giyo subsidy hoti hai to ensure ki achha kisahan ko mehenga na pade. Sarkar ne pichle budget keya tha 1.7 lakh carose. They ended up spending 2.1 lakh carose. Is sal because of this situation now. this number where can we go? 2.7 lakh crores, 3 lakh crores this 3 lakh crores is which is the same thing which we have to eat and we have to eat we realize that we have to eat that we have to eat if we have to eat our house and we have to eat our house and we have to eat our house and we have to eat which rate is it is double rate our government is 2 lakh crores in subsidies but but this is not talking about these realities and overall I tell you that you and I we who are our spends as much as they are growing up as much as we don't increase no absolutely and I'm not talking about new ventures and new allocates I'm talking about steady business income or steady salary income you're on your if you just give for example health insurance then 14-15 % every year the government says that the money is only 2-5 % in the past different things different stuff so health insurance is the same if you talk about money and stuff leave it oil definitely oil and oil this is a lot of money then your gym memberships you have rent every day this is very easy rent is very inflated the price of the house is an option through the roof any person any other than a year the price of the house seems that it's a bad because if you want something for 5 years today you can't buy that house you can't buy that house you can buy that house that you can buy that house and you can buy that house and you can buy it so overall it feels like there is some kind of money illusion that we we have the illusion that we have 2-5 % of the money is growing.
44:48But if you look at the actual rate, it will increase 10-15 % every year. Okay, Raj, look, you have three things to say. Okay. Three things are done. Number one, if our growth is so good, why do we feel it? I'll give you that answer. We are the fastest growing major economy, but we are not growing fast enough. China was 15 years old, when it grew consistently 10 % over. We haven't done it. And why does this matter matter? Our good people are such a good person who are very poor, who are not working. Unemployment is very much. The official start of which we all know. To solve that, you need to grow more than 3%.
45:28The fastest growing in the world is not enough. If it is not fast enough for your requirements. Our country has more need. That's why some economists and many people have already said that we have to aim for 10 % plus. Our government's economists, Arvind Panagariya, who was the vice chairman or vice chancellor of Neetha Ayuk. He used to openly talk that we have built the rails in which we are looking at 8 % plus of sustained growth. Where are those 8 %? Until we are 8, then we will not go to 10 % of these. We cannot generate work. The result is that we are definitely the fastest growing major economy, but we are not going fast enough.
46:06That's very different things. Number one. ideologically the first term of inflations. The magazine call me the great threats to you for us by getting you hours away about inflation being expert Moseline If your message will instantly stop I may apologize when Why? our Mayor himself says our inflation not inflations This is a its It shows about inflation are not asante. We are going to the definitions First There are simple hollows What about people than CPA we judge So check inflation is that is the same thing. If there is something that is so much, if there is something that is so much, then the difference between the two is so much.
46:42That is the same thing. Some things are also difficult. For example, if you take a TV, the TV was so much in 1990, and the TV was so much, and the TV was so much, it was so much price correction. Technology led price reduction. Solar panel was reduced. It was so much more than that. Your education, or your food and food, your health care has become, and many things have become. Our clothes are getting. We are getting more than that. There are many aspects. aspects of the market. But where are the question? Our government defines that if you look at oral inflation, you see a number of inflation, how do you see it?
47:13So many items. And there is no doubt that you can pay for which you pay for, I will do it. So, you have to make a difference between me and me and me. How do you do it? So, we take a look at index, which is called consumer price index, CPI. CPI, which is consumer price index, how do you calculate it? What do you do? Average Indian compared to average. Now, average Indian is not well to do. According to an average Indian, what he eats and eats, what he consumes, he gives you a weightage. There were different things. There were 298 items that were in 2011, which was kept in the CPI. We will track the income.
47:53What price moments are there? We will see. 12 February, 298 items. It will be 299. basically they keep the items in which they measure the price. What rate of the price is, what is the price, what is the price, etc. That is$2.99. The amazing part is now, if you put the$2.98 in brackets, then 46 % of the overall weight was for food alone. For our country's most expensive cost is food. Why do we give 80 crore of people to Africa food? That's the real. because the real people don't have to lose so much that they can think about it. For that, the rice, the rice, the rice, the rice is very far away.
48:39The rice will take 2-3-4 years, but the rice will take the rice, the food will take it. The 46 % of the rice, which was set in 2011-2012, now the 12th of February of 2016, it was 3 months ago. 3 months ago, this was going on. In 15-16 years, how much economy has changed our country? Transportation, modes, your digital economy, food delivery, e-commerce, internet, telecom rates. Everything is not being captured. So, what we pay is not counting the government. Healthcare. So, the money is not counting. In healthcare, the diagnostic services were not included while calculating this. Why the two items were not in the diagnostic services?
49:32Do you know how big the diagnostics are in the market? The year's year is$15 billion. And it's growing up every year from 15-20%. These are not my numbers. FarmEasy CEO, Rahul Guha, who has recently interviewed me. I think the Captable has told me. That's not my claim. But you can see, it's$15 billion. A average Indian man. if you do math this 15 billion dollars I think the year is a thousand rupees on the diagnostics on the day one average income of a year that is a very big income and this is not counting that's why the 12th February has changed now so today we think that every year from the same time, the same thing is 2%, 5%, 6%, whatever.
50:25The numbers are different from different years. The same thing is growing. It's useless. It's useless for you. You're useless. The majority of people are useless. That's how it's designed. Most of the people who are watching this, it's useless for you. If there's internet, phone is, the majority of people are probably paying for this bill. Let's go, the internet phone is very small. You can just understand that the school fees are the same. The CPA calculation has less weightage versus the payas rate. I can't put it in a better way. And that's why you see that the payas is going up. People are getting attention.
51:02Then you see that the payas is going up in Egypt and everything will happen many times. Why do you do that? Payas is very important. The payas is more important. Because payas is gone up a little. the government will be difficult to win. That's about 80 crore. Exactly. More than 50%. Exactly. So, I won't tell you about this. Our children, parents, health care is important in our country. In the calculation of CPI, it's a rate of$8. It's a rate of$8. And I'm not saying this to anyone. There's one solution. Ideally, ideally India is equal to which is Sajid Pai if you know him they're 3 India's India 1, India 2, India 3 I'm saying there's 7 India's and 7's there's different categories we behave in a different way we have different types of per capita income we have different types of spend so you have different inflation number to take so you should have different types and should be.
52:10And the money is very different for that and the money is very poor for that. Absolutely, because their costs are different. Any person who learns in government school, if I go and say that our education inflation in this country is 14, 15, 20 percent, that's irrelevant for that. That's not the meaning. Why I go to his calculations and tell him? That's not the point, but the point is that he is irrelevant. At the same time, you say that the price of 40 % is 80 % we will have a difference in the difference we will eat so our calculation is so much of it we will have a difference that I was given a health insurance that premium has been 25 % I will have a difference I will have a difference that I will go to this hospital 2 years ago I had a mom's operation kidney stone I was at 2 ,000 ,000 ,000 now how are you looking at what time of time we will have a difference so very different India's.
53:07We can't compare the two. But CPI as a broad index and to be very clear, the government is out of two types of index, rural and urban. But, how will you combine the rural and urban? If you look at our country's GDP, Mumbai and Delhi, 4 % of the country's population is in the same way. It's about 15 % of GDP from cities. And if you look at the top 10 cities, it's about 30, 32, 33%. What does that mean? what happened? The first two cities 15 % of the GDP. The other cities and 15 % of the GDP. You can compare the rest of the rest. The first one is to leave it. Reliance says we are live in our geo market that is live in some 1300 cities.
53:53We are talking about 10. The rest of the 1300 are coming. It's a very different India. India is 7 different probably 17 different India's. 17 different you don't have inflation number Don't get out of 7 too. Don't get out of 4 or 5. Because we are very different people. The way somebody in Uttar Pradesh spends is very different from the way somebody in Karnataka spends. For example, your income per capita in Uttar Pradesh is roughly something like $1200 or$1600. If you come to Karnataka, it's a very different number. How can you keep the same number? For example, I'll give you another example.
54:32What figure of unemployment What is our figure of our government? There is a survey that is PLFS, Periodic Labor Force Survey. I've already told this before, but some people already know it. I was shocked when I got to know that PLFS is very simple. You can survey it. It's simple math. If the government and the government are sitting in a cup of tea, two people are sitting in a cup of tea. In the last week, someone has been sitting in a company. The king has been talking to someone, I'll give him a hundred dollars. I'll take a job for hours and take a car. The king is counted as an employed person.
55:12I am counted as unemployed. What is the king of the king? We were both sitting in a room. By chance, someone has been talking to the king. We are employed. But the definition is such. When I created awareness, some people say, that is a UN defined structure that is your justification that we mislead are because there is no problem because that number is not solving us so that part is something that we really need to understand that it should not be different because the world is doing it the point is is that purpose solving if it is not then let's demand for something better similarly now we have reached the third point which you have also raised which is how people will buy a house and all that so now we have a prediction so prediction number 2 I was brought to you and I had to talk about it.
55:59By chance, you have said that topic. So, this is my simple prediction. Most Indians will never be able to own a home. And I really want to say that I will be wrong. Most Indians? Most Indians won't be able to. Most Indians will never buy a home. No. And I don't feel good about it. The entire dream is we all do this for the majority of Indians that they will make their own home and buy their own home. Yeah. And you're saying that dream is not possible in India. What do people need to do in India? Meshagher or sastegher? Home and meshagher. What can people do in the world? Meshagher or sastegher?
56:44Sastegher. Sastegher, right? 12 % of new supply coming in the market. As per Anarok. Again, Google search. Anarok, 12 % of the new supply coming in the markets is for affordable housing more than 50 % sorry rest of that is not affordable housing more than 50 % is houses beyond 1.5 crore luxury homes yeah how do people buy it and by the way this is already happening about it 2 crore 2.07 crore 2.17 crore houses they are empty they are empty big. We also say there is a shortage of 1.9 crore houses in India. Where are the two things you sit? How do you sit? Luxury houses empty, affordable houses are not.
57:35Point is, is that what you are trying to say? Houses have become an investment asset. It doesn't stay good for anyone. In our country, there is a good money that comes in our real estate sector. Where is it? two places one is remittances outside the money that comes in India that people are working now it's like the people are working outside the people are working in the US etc you can't invest into all sorts of things there are limitations India is your own ground here you take the money and take the money and what will you do so those who are working outside the money are selling the money remittances are the biggest economy India is the biggest country when it comes to remittances we have 3.3 crore people out there they have money from their own their own name they have their name they have their own name they have their proportion that number is 129 billion dollars a year projected about 2030 this number is 180 billion dollars I don't remember I don't remember or I don't remember these are very big numbers now the money comes it's not that people that we have to sit and sit down and spend it It comes to that.
58:48But it comes to investment purposes. It goes to some share market. It goes to some FDs. It goes to your real estate. For our tier 1 builders, DLFO, Lodaho, or your prestige group, NRI money used to account for about 5-10 % of bookings as of 15 years ago. Today, that is between 20-25%. In recent DLF projects, which launched in good towns in the country, it has gone up to 30%. The money is coming from there. They don't live here. These are investments. They keep buying home. Number one. Number two, black money. When it was demonetization, it was a pitch that it would be that it would be black money.
59:35When it was demonetization, the cash-in circulation was 17 ,000 ,000 ,000 ,000. Today it was 34 ,000 ,000 ,000. Now, someone thinks that there is no black money in India. Good for you. I have a great deal with black money when you have to exist when you have to go to black money you can go to three places and you can go to four places that's the four places number one is you can go to the armory and the chowel and the amount of money you can keep it there is a limit there is a limit then there are two options gold because gold gold is a good idea today in cash the government says that if you have a certain number If you have a pen card, you will give a pen card for a thousand dollars.
1:00:16People do a lot of transactions with it. It's like gold. What else? Real estate. Being a student books. those who know everyone, if you, like them too, you are independent, you don't have any roles together, of course, this is probably and the English, then you are no part, doesn't yes, the needs are minutes, similarly, अब हम बात करते हैं कि कितना वाइट कितना ब्लाक हम अच्छा लगेगा वह आपका रीट बढ़ा आता है पुबिक नॉलेजी फिर भी हम एक करते कि नहीं ब्लाक मनी तो है नहीं यह क्या बक्ति है similarly at the same time वो जो ब्लाक वाले जो component है सत्रा ला करोड को चौतिस ला करोड जो है राइट उस सारा सेकुलेशन में नहीं है इस हुड़ेट अज विल है वो हुड़ेट कहां पे है वो यहां पे डिपलॉई किया जाता है आप सारा गद्य के नीचे नीर बासकते सोना कितना खरीद लोगे तो बहुत साइ लोग रियल एस्टेट करते हैं वो जो दो करोड से उपर अपार्टमेंट्स या घर बन करके वेकेंट पड़े हैं और में यह लग पैसा अच्छा कासा लगा हुए अब अफकोस अब उसके लिए बायर्स आपको जो मिलेंगे तो आप डिपलोई करोगे को रेंटल के लिए मिलेगा उतना देने के लिए अब किसी ने अगर वाइट पर दिखता हुगा कि हाँ भी मैंने पचास लाख में घर लिया है लगिन किसी ने लिया अगर ड्हाई करोर का घर वो रेंटल फिर 50 लाग के सबसे दोड़ेगा उसको तो अपना रिटर्न बनाना है तो रेंटल उतना बढ़ा जरागे देता है उतना रेंटल देने वाले लोग नहीं मिलते हैं जी नी तो rent भी इससे उपर जा रहे solution किया इसका अच्छा पहले मैं बता तूँ कि एक चौथा और विन्यो जिस पर cash deploy होता है वो होता है कि रोज मरा की जर्निय में जो भी हम खर्चे करते हैं हम cash में करने लग जाते हैं five star hotel में खाना पीना किया अच्छा टीक है, 10 अरका भी लो, यह लो, यह लो, यह लो, बहुत लो, बहुत लो, करते हैं, बहुत कॉमन है, आपका Aero City है, T3 एपोर्ट की ज़सात में, एपोर्ट पूरा जो है, वो, लाइट के वहीं पर है, उसके अंदर, दर लोग अपन ली, ऐसे बैग लेकर घूमते ह और बैक से जाए निकालते हैं ऐसे काउंट करके ये लो 500 रूपीज एक्टा, keep the tip लिकिस है इतना ऐसी थोड़ी है वो ब्लैक का पैसा है कि अब कहीं तो डिप्लॉई करना है?

I've read some textbook definition somewhere where कि real estate prices are defined by the people who are making enough money etc. I can be wrong, I can be wrong. I believe that, I believe, I can be wrong. I believe that if there is demand, then the rate will rise up. If there is no, then it will rise up. So, it's not that.
तिक है अब 11 मेने वा जब रीनियल का टाइम आता है often it is not the usual 5 और 10 परसंट वो बढ़ाया जाता है जादा and this is why क्योंकि ask है and that is the problem and second thing एक बड़ी चीज है what happens in real estate does not end at real estate real estate consumes a lot of cement a lot of steel, a lot of paint a lot of trucks trucks चलते हैं तो तो अस निदर डीजल जाता है डीजल कॉर में थे औल रिफाइनरी बनाती है 30 % अग जीडीपी कांटरिप्ट कोने सेक्टर का जब ट्रक्स कम चलते हैं डीजल अपकर कम कंजिम हो रहा है रिफाइनरी का पुरा मैच चेंज हो जाता है जो पेंट बनानी वाली कंपनीज है उनको तीन साल लगे हैं वो बनने में कि okay now we are going to become export focused अब दुनियाबर में paint export करने लग गए है result is अब बाकी countries की भी लग रही है same goes for steel Chinese steel का biggest consumption center was their real estate it got to a point where multiple big Chinese places like just me ने भी country garden का नाम लिया they had bought out some of the biggest shopping malls in London in US उनो ने बड़े discount in fact So have you heard of this thing called City of London?
1:08:53No. So there is London. Have you been to London, have you? Yeah. London is a special economic zone which is called City of London, where all of you will get one more time. High rises and towers and all. All of them are in the same place. Okay. And all the financial services which are now there. So it was a very interesting start. I don't remember where I was studying. I was studying two or three years ago. That's some 70 % of City of London's high rises are owned by Chinese people. It was also written on Quip. लिखा था, कुप अधिल मजग की लिखिए लिखिए कि the queen of London owns less of city of London than the Chinese people.
1:09:26But Indians के लिए, Indian billionaires are the highest real state owners in the country. In city of London. Not really. So there is London and there is city of London. Okay, then city of London you're talking about. City of London is the financial services app. Like here, there's a fort in Mumbai. Fort wall area. I'm talking about that there. Chinese people, Chinese real estate players are going out and buying these things.
1:10:06Real estate to every place will go. But when they're the situation here, they had to sell all of these all to not, but many of them had had heavy discounts to find money to pay back their debts in China. So they started to sell to the city of London? Not just the city of London, US they have sold malls and everything. Last week's many of them had big casinos. They all have across the world. And this is all happened. And not just to pay back debts back in China, बहुत सारे जो रियल स्टिप बना रहे थे उसके लिए इशू ग्लोबल बॉंड जैसे अडानी ग्रूप को बताया था ना भी कि उनके dollar denominator bonds है, इनके भी थे, और उसब चुकान है आपको, तो पैसा कहां से लाओगे, आपका domestic market वे खुराश हो गया, restructuring हो रही है, सब कुछ हो रही है, वही पर Chinese government ने आके एक और help भी किया कि, they formed multiple units across different provinces, यहां पर हम state बोलते हैं, वहां पर province होते हैं, तो उन वेहिकल्स ने इन प्रॉपरटी को डिस्काउंट पे खरीदना शुरू किया ताकि गॉर्मेंट की तरफ से इन बिल्डर स्कॉल की लिक्विड़िटी मिले कि आपने डेट्स वारा पेबैक कर सकें यह सब भी हुआ है बहुत कुछ हुआ है इस बीन बहुत कुछ हुआ now what does this mean अगर एक market जहां पे 6 करोड incomplete sorry completed but vacant houses है and yet there is demand for houses जो कि लोगों किया सभी है ने उनको affordable चाहिए वहां पे यह हो रहा है practically यहां पे बीज़ सकता है you feel similar kind of crash अगर India ने दिहान ने दिया तो इंडिया में भी होगा depends on multiple things क्योंकि real state तो majority Indian wealth जो भी create करता है वो real state में लगाता है मैं यह कहूंगा कि depends on multiple things number one if you want to prioritize कि हाँ भी हाँ हर आदमी के सर पे एक्छात होनी चाहिए तब तर क्राश ही होना पड़ेगा अगर हम उस पे compromise करने को ready है कि ठीक है और नहीं होगा फर ठीक है लेकिन यह market नहीं टूटना चाहिए क्योंकि उससे बहुत लोगों की जो investments हैं जो उनकी net worth हो खतम हो जाएगी that is another very legitimate challenge today तो फिर लोगों को खरनी मिलेंगे तो फिर लोगों को करनी मिलेंगे बाद तो जातो भी हो पाएगा reason being real estate, people are very very powerful, very rich people and these people are directly linked to the politicians, the money interchange बहुत जादा होता है, and यह सारी वो चीजें, of course, जह हम बोल रहे हैं कि, यह जो इतना black का पैसा जह बहुता है, और खुला होता है, right?
1:12:28तो ज़िए रियल स्टेट नीचे नही आएगा, you don't feel so? तो ज़िए पार्ट और पासल of the entire political machinery. Fair. And politicians never make laws not make themselves. So, real state will not come down to real state. Very unlikely. It will not crash in China. It will not crash like China. It will not crash like China. But, the result and consequence will be that an average Indian will be a lot of difference. It will be. I will give you an example. So, your prediction this one will be might become true. And I pray from my heart
1:13:22so गुडगाओं का data है ठीक है पिछले चार साल के अंदर गुडगाओं में अगर आप दौर का पाश साल का data है अगर आप दौर का express से देखेंगे वहाँ पे property prices are given by average 93 % अगर आप Golf Course देखेंगे about 80 % Golf Course Extension Road देखेंगे we have gone from 8800 रुपीज पर स्कुरेर फीट average to 20 ,000 प्लस
1:15:02I think, क्या, detergent brand, right?
When it comes to say your energy, एनर्जी की उपर लगा दे जाता है energy का duty for industries. Now what happens is, जब JSW गूरूप ने अपना negotiation किया for that बुटी बुरी में अपना plant लगाने के लिए 25 रगूर का investment, उनको वहाँ पर जो SDST का 110 % का refund उनको promise किया गया, साथ में एक और जी promise की गई कि you will be exempted off आपका electricity duty आपके पाप़ को मिलेगा क्या आपके लिए तो वो भी एक added cost है आपके ऐसे एकल को export करोगे आपके पिदाजी ने चलो फिर भी सब कुछ चला है बहुत चिया रहीट उनका बिजली का अच्छा सकरचा आता है चुक्никомी फैक्टरी चला रही है बिजली का घर आपके फैक्टरी में आपके फैक्टरी में वाता है उसके यूनिट के अस्ले की कॉसमें है बहुत फ़रक होता है क्यों होता है कश्छल का पैसे जादा लगते है क्यों लगते हैं ज़्यादा वो इसलिए कि हमारी सरकार ने एक सिस्टम बना रहा है और खाली हमारी सरकार नहीं आज की सरकार नहीं हमेशा से रहा है इस प्रिंसिपल को बोलते हैं क्रॉस सबस्टिडाइजिशिशन किसान है बिलकुल सस्ते हैं में उसे बचली दो.
I'll give you another example, अब आप चलते हो अंदरप्रदेश अंदरप्रदेश में बहुत ही पहरी पॉलिसी है अगर आप 50 करोड से लिकर के 1000 करोड की बीच का कोई भी इंवेस्मेंट कर रहे हो तो आपको हम अप्टू 12 परसंट का क्यापिटल सबसीडी देंगे up to a certain amount of investment हम आपको electricity जो charges है वह आपको एक रुपए पर कुछ करके देते हैं वह आपको discount मिल जाएगा यह सब ठीक है सब announce कर दिया अंदर प्रदेश में कोई factory लेड़ उसको ते मिल रहे है बाकियों को मिल रहे है बाकी states में तो नहीं मिल रहा ना वहां पर जिसने फैक्टरी लगाई थी आज दो साल पहले, वो बिग्रेट करो यार मैं दो साल रुख जाता, चंद्रवावन आइडू आए थे उन्होंने यह वाली अनॉंस कि मैं लगा ले था, मेरे तो लग गए ना, प्रप्रब्लम इस, setup is designed in such a manner that cost of manufacturing in India अच्छा कासा अमारी सरकार कोद इंप्रेट कर देती है हम इतनी पर हमारी सरकार बोलती है कि हमारी manufacturing को और competitive बनाना है competitive बनाना है उसके एम क्या करेंगे cost of logistics as a percent of GDP पर हमारा 14 % पर है, 15 % पर 13 % पर उसको गिराकिम 7 % पर लेके आएंगे, ये भी तो बताओना है, कि उसमें अच्छा कासा कॉस्ट, इस बिकास आपने ही टैक्सेस गुसा रहे हैं, वो आप हो कॉस्ट, वो आपकी कमाई है, आप उससे मलाई निकाल रहे हो, और वो कीमत हमारे द पूर्ट हम ज्यादा कर पाते हैं बट चीजे तो हमने ही महेंगे बना दीना इसलिए हमारे इंडस्ट्री बार बोलती है आपका जो पेट्रोल है डीजल है इन सब के ऊपर हमें input tax credit देना शुरू करो natural gas के उपर हमे input tax देना शुरू करो जिनको नहीं पता input tax credit GST के एको सिस्टम में होता है कि अगर आप एक manufacturer हो आपने जो taxes आपने बढ़े उस चीज को बनाने के लिए या फुल्फिल करने के लिए वो आप रीक्यूपरेट कर सकते हो तो आप वो वापस लिसकते हो, बट अगर वो पेट्रोल डीजल वाला कर्चा आपस नहीं ले ले बाते हो, वो तो बड़ा प्रब्लम हो गया ना?
यह अभरी सरकार का किया हूँ है, स्टेट अज वेल इस सेंटर, आप ज़र सोच के देखिये, 2010 में जो excise वाला जो component जो जो जो center लगाती है डीजल के उपर यह लगब कुछ 4-4 रुपय था 4.7 आज के यह 33-34 रुपीस का सबस्ट चल रहा है 4.7 तो 33 यह cost of logistics किसने बढ़ाया है 15 साल में पिछले सरकारिय बोल सकते कि ठीक है we need the money to do other things but then it's a choice that you have made जिसके कारण हमारा manufacturing महंगा हो रहा है, हमारा logistics as a percentage of GDP भर रहा है, वो आपने inflate किया है, हमारे industrialist ने या businessmen ने नहीं किया है, ये बात कुछ लोगों को समझने बहुत वैसे लग सकती, कि मैं industrialist के pro के बोल रहा हूँ, etc.

1:52:25अपना पीनिन हो सकता है, मुझे ज्यादा लोग ऐसे नजर नहीं आते परसेंटेज नज में देखो तो जिनके नरू चुल है and majority जो मुझे चाइड जी पीटिन पर कहलते भी लिखते हैं, वो यह होते हैं कि this is the photo I am going to put out, इसके लिए caption बता दो या फिर general life questions. There's a friend of mine Vaebhav. I think one of the largest Sysinti. One of the largest AI upskilling schools in the world, right? Growth school ना मेरा, M.Share. Growth school. Okay.

1:57:59I'm a class plus founder, who are my guru and mentor. He left me a company. Every person is good at 3-4 times. If you're out of the house, you'll be able to buy 2-3 things. Think about it. You'll be out of it. And begin to scale up on those things. Begin to take those things towards monetization. You'll be able to do it. If you're going to do it, whatever disruption you'll be in your job, you'll be able to become resilient. And that is very important. Not only for you. For your family. For your all. For our economy. For our country. These are the three things. Which ideally anyone can try to try three or four days.
1:58:40Or even a week. Or experience. Please do it. Tan, thank you so much sir. Thank you so much for spending time with us. It was a pleasure having you. Thank you so much Raj. In today’s episode, we sit down with Jayant Mundhra, Founder - Biz News+ and Creator - Decoding the Dragon & BharatNama Newsletters, to understand the deeper problems behind India’s economy.
We discuss why PM Modi asked Indians to buy less gold, how gold imports weaken the rupee, and why India remains heavily dependent on imports despite calling itself self-reliant. Jayant explains China’s long-term strategy, why the yuan is slowly gaining power, and why India still struggles to compete with China in manufacturing.
The conversation also covers weak currency, energy dependency, AI outflow, freebies vs long-term growth, and why India risks becoming only a consumer economy. He explains why solving supply chains, production, and industrial depth matters more than short-term narratives.
