Do you think that we are failing more than succeeding? If you look at the paper and the paper of the NEET, the papers are defined differently. What do you hope to do with the engineers? Why do you solve problem solving? We ask more questions on the application-based. In the paper of the NEET, the doctors need to be the process. We have made a subject for learning the math. Science came to inquiry. Do you believe technology will advance so much where AI will come from artificial intelligence?
0:41And AI will replace teachers?
0:46In Indian education system, we listen to a lot of negative things. These NEET and JE tests, how much pressure they create for kids, is it right? Why are these tests necessary? And what is their logic behind it? What are the techniques that students can learn better and improve the education system? Plus, how can we use AI to use the education as easy, fast and accessible? For all these questions, watch this episode, where our guest is an essay leader, who has built the fastest growing education platform for India, Mr. Ujwal Singh, founding CEO of Infinity Learn. Share this episode with every student and their parents so that they can get the knowledge of knowledge.

1:52Tell me the common top 3 mistakes and similarities. in a positive way what happens in topers if you see the need the child is getting 100 % he has a fair chance of topping the child is getting 100 % he will miss out because the child is getting 100 % and botany is a scoring subject for need By default, if you are 700 out of 720, say for instance, Geolaji Botany will be 100 % lying. The question is physics. So when we start preparing, we purely focus on physics. If a child is doing well in physics, then his chances of 7-net crossing, physics is the most critical subject for NEET aspirants. Geology Botany is an easier subject to score marks
3:02So as for J-E means, math is the most important subject When children get good in math, chances are fairly high They will be among the top students for the year and there are very few children who have good grades in math and they did not do good in the final exam. The second interesting trend is that J-Mens 1, there are two, Mens 1 and Mens 2. J-Mens 1's topers are very rare chance, at least for the last 3-4 years, I haven't heard that Mens 2's someone beat him so the one in one top of the two by default last year in Chaitanya means result this guy is top number one in the country so one of our colleague went to say that he has bite and interview so it's next day morning next day morning 9.30 10 o 'clock he went to the classroom institution where he was studying you will hope that if someone's result is celebrating he is happy that guy said I am going to give a mock test for 3 hours that advance 3 hours that guy called me and said we will sit here and then we will do that those guys are not worried about that I will reach the media I will reach my results.
4:43He is worried that I have cracked the number one in the main field. Can I crack the number one in the top ten? There are different breed of students. Hard work is not the right word. Somebody close to Michael Phelps and he was talking and telling me that when he was talking to me, he won the first time and then we were like, let's all party let's, this is the time and up to night, achieved it and he said, he didn't achieve it he didn't achieve it and then he won the gold medal he won the next day and then he won the next Olympics and then he won the next Olympics and then he said, he won the globe record back to back to you have all the records I said no then he did so from the day he started till the day he retired until his attitude is the Olympics day is the practice day after winning or winning after winning every day his attitude practice or intensity same and that's why he ended up winning so many gold medals year after year after year after year.
6:04True, true. We should think as a society that whoever is just enjoying the fun, don't demean him. True. If somebody is not drinking alcohol and he doesn't want to be in a dance party and he wants to solve a complex problem, why is that a problem? Yeah, let it be. There's no problem. That's actually a problem. Many people have a problem that they have a problem with their work-life balance. Why are they doing this?
6:34everybody hates everybody they are all trying to be judgmental against each other if someone wants to party let them do that let's not be judgmental about that and if someone has a complex problem solve and they are going to do it but I will tell you I have met so many people and ultra achievers I don't know who's phase is a lifetime but the ultra achievers are top 1 % 0.01 % people whether they're billionaires, artists, athletes world champions they're a thing in their life they're a phase where they cannot help but win they don't get anything else they don't get anything else they don't get anything else they don't get anything else they don't get anything else they don't know what they are, they are bad, they are happy, they don't understand what they are saying.
7:37At that time, they understand that I have to solve this thing and I have to move on to my next level. And I have to win. I have to go here and I will go for 4K. And there is nothing else that they think about. And you take those people who are ranked in the I-Team, rank 1, 2, 3. You take those people who become villainous, start-ups, they make very big, big, big. make them, take them, take them, take them athletes, take them, take them, take them like they just don't know any other way but to win, they are actors, podcasters, creators anyone and you will be surprised and forget this I have met people who are far from fame and success, I know teachers who are at the global level, 0.001 % teachers who I call Harvard to study and he doesn't know I'm the one who is the one who is the one who is the one and still because they don't know they don't have a difference in the world they just know that I have to go to all depth I'm a researcher I'll be a researcher I'll earn more money I'll earn more athlete I'll earn more rank I'll compete with a competition it's just they don't know any other thing they just know how to win tell me test is necessary why do you think that our students are very time waste we live where we live in India where there seat or a birth you understand that resources are so less and number of people are so many now like it or not this This is the only way you can select few.
9:22This is selection process. Now, or a large sum of people you are saying that you are not fitting to the square which is built by a set of people. And saying that you have to take this test for this college. Just every day we say population is one fourth. And the resources is almost 4x. I don't think then there is any problem of test. you can walk in and maybe there are some countries across the world where you can walk in and put in desire that I have to do mechanical engineering and you can just get admission to that. But this process of selection will always going to happen for any area. If you talk about your area, say for instance, likes, subscription is the platform testing of how many people like me.
10:14पसंद आती है, same way अगर आपको IIT जाना है तो एक base standard और उस standard को meet करना important है पट मैं एक चीज़ बोलता हूँ मतलब आजकल न मतलब test preparation को लेकि बहुत debate होता रहता है society में उतनी debate वहाँ नहीं होती है जब हम बात करते हैं कि एक cricketer ने एक coach hire किया to become a better cricketer. A swimmer hired a coach to become a better swimmer. A musician hired a coach. What is the job of a coach? To get the best out of me. True. What is happening that the similar desire when a student or a parent along with the student puts in saying that I want to that my child's best potential is you.
11:07And how much they can do it. I think we have to see it like that. We are as coaching institutions are not a school or a college. Our job is to take out the best from the student's potential, make him reach that potential and then let him be across the world. Same thing when an athlete trainer pushes hard to say you can do it, try to do it in 11 seconds, 100 meter and so on so forth. he is pushing hard because end of the day that's what test preparation is all about you don't see any field in any field
11:53I think coaches and mentors are very very very crucial and necessary you can either have a coach working with you one-on-one to help you grow you can either go and become part of a mentorship program with 50 hundred or thousand other people or you can just learn from someone online or you can just look at someone and get inspired and try to implicate or implement all these things in your life right but coaching and role model and modeling someone inspirational which gives you a little hope is very important in life to move ahead it actually makes you better i haven't met even one person who has achieved the top one ranking in their field without a coach i haven't met right it's and some people might disagree to this fact even people who don't have coach they have either their brother father somebody mentoring or their team member or someone who they just talk to on a random day and they call it a friend but they help them true right so it's absolutely or they're just like looking at books and trying to make books their mentors but so there are people and there are things which are coaching you if you want to become like truly want to maximize your potential that is not a question question is why is it for test preparation?
13:12I mean if I need coaching and I'm in 10th class in 11th class I need to be coach that I'm the best mathematician or I'm the best best physics I want to do XYZ. Or I want to be top of my thinking skill or researching skill. I want to be top of my speaking skill. I want to be top of my problem solving skills. Everyone is like this. Just test for you. Your life is enough. Just test for you. It will continue the world. Like why are we wasting our 3-4 years in just a test? And I get that. It's a larger part because there's a lot of competition in our country. No, but there's more to it. What is more?
13:51Like apart from If it's only competition So scale hour Do you think there's another reason That you should have done a test A lot more What? You should have come to the test But this question It's a little bit Let's stay put on this You know because Some of us Would have seen A very different India In 90s and 2000 And then 2010 onwards Our growth journey Is very very different But Shaiyad Today, sitting here, is very difficult to feel this thing.
14:26That parent who is living in a lower middle class family in a small city,
14:36in that orbit, the biggest thing is that child getting into an engineering or a medical college for him as a family to move an orbit in the economic strata. because it is known that my child is going to take a job and my family. So my family and my family will change the economic status. We all have to change the needs of each other. If you look at India 1, India 2, India 3, India 3's needs of 10-20 years ago India 2 was now. And it's that, can I move to middle class? And to move to middle class, education is the only best way. There is no shortcut than education. It's the fastest way to move to middle class.
15:22And moving to middle class, I need to have a good job and I need to have a salary decent. For that, my ticket to this journey is for me to get a good education. A decent enough college. And the question is that you have multiple opportunities in college. Look at the number of seats available in engineering and medical vis -à-vis any other streams. Look at the people who are getting employment from engineering and medical vis-a-vis any other industry, any other stream of education. Now, what will that parent think sitting there? Chances of success, this is game of probability. Chances of success are the most important if my son or daughter becomes an engineer or doctor, gets a decent job and moves my ticket to middle class.
16:13move for me
16:18my kid is studying in a government school or a state board school or a tier 3 kind of school what is the best opportunity that I want to go to a person who has done such work who can help my child to get into a decent engineering or medical college that's how unluckily you might say that why is it a chef or why is it a profession that's 1 % of the society today also. And India 1 maybe that is 50%. India 2 that may be 10 % but India 3. And our job we are largely working on middle class and lower middle class today and tier 2, 3, 4 kind of cities. Our job is to help them to meet their aspiration.
17:11and that's why our mentorship our coaching area is largely to say sir i'll help your child in math physics or chemistry and geology or botany to improve it depending on what course you choose so that he gets into an mbbs seat or a decent in a engineering college where placement is so finally this is linked to my financial position this is economic decision and not an education decision yeah so you're saying that's the only way to get out of economic strata you said this is the fastest way to do it don't you think that we are failing more than succeeding no you look at data i'm asking 80 percent of the engineers they lack after graduating they lack the total employable skills or employment skills right practical skills need to go to job and prove to them this is data from corporate india companies hire them they say we hire them and we have to do it right almost 80 percent people are so probably don't you think we're failing at this that we want with a lot of good intentions.
18:32We have to send everyone with a lot of good intentions. Top 5-10 % of children will go. That's a great life. It's big. We get 1 crore. Whatever. I mean, we get 1 crore. But the top 5-10 % of children will go. And life will go. After that, it's just bizarre. It's unusual to look at the packages and the placements that people are getting and the job people are getting. because if the objective is only the whole thing that I have to do, I will go up to the middle class. That is the objective which is a fair objective, it is a large objective. People will be able to get one day and get one day and get one day.
19:14Which I also believe in. But that doesn't happen. You are the first job of the whole discussion. I am saying that this child is coming. He was a decent engineering college. I am not saying that he was a decent engineering college. A decent company gave him a first placement. 3 ,5 ,5 ,10 ,000 placement. But his journey starts. He is independent from that day. He is no more unemployed. employed yes there is a discussion that for the job we have to train him and we also do the same even though we go to iits for placement but we still have to train them because
20:07but first of all I will show you an interesting thing that I will tell you that no one is not
20:15I have to put double the effort to train them. Nobody is talking, saying that you are taking a decent enough engineering college.
20:27And somebody who has not at all done engineering into different stream, the amount of effort you have to put in to train him is double. So first, this child is sitting on an extra, on an edge. Because he has done decent education He has passed Second His first job is not his start and end His journey starts there Look at it Where is present middle class coming from They are largely coming from A large bunch of people Who were lower middle class 10 years back And today And I know hundreds of such stories Because we track student performances That today That student has started earning good enough In next 3 to 5 years time That slowly and gradually He has moved into a middle class So you are saying Because they were engineers That's why they were able to do this They were engineers Plus all the lot of good things Have happened in his life Placings of God and family But more than that His hard work The kind of new skills Which he would have learned During the job The lot of efforts have gone Not to take away And give all credit To the engineering college But irrespective That first step And then he took chances See end of the day We are all not same humans There are hundreds of other students who joined And some are still not doing as good At some other But those who are doing good They have whatever education they got They have tried to encash it And they have continued on learning path To learn new things And continuously trying to be better and better I think that's how the new middle class is coming from The new middle class is coming from Which is 10 years back The lower middle class so my argument is and I'm trying to put up a good debate here and that's why I'm trying to ask you multiple questions right because a lot of what you said I believe some of it and I believe some of it it's not true and that's why I can do it because my worldview is partial right and your worldview is partial so if you have to learn after engineering and develop new skills develop करनी है तो क्यों ये 2 साल test के और 4 साल college के ये 5 साल मैं क्यों waste करूँ मैं directly test की जगे मैं अपने आपको coach ले लूँ या मैं internship ले लूँ या मैं ऐसी जगे जाओ जहाँ जहाँ में को day one पे पैसे कमानी की skills इखाय जा रही है या problem solving skills I will teach you what I have to do.
23:02Even if it is very complicated, some field where I have job on computer, I will teach you directly. Because when I am learning money, I will teach you the middle class. So I will do directly, why do I do 6 years? I will be better when I am a child of engineering, we will take the top 10 % of the people who are in the top. 90 % of people who are going to go out after 2-3 years to go from their 20-30-50-000 to 2 ,000 ,000 people so at least 6 plus 3-9 years I'll do this in the first 3 years I'll do this in the first 3 years so many people try to do it so it's not possible and it's success ratio which is very low why?
23:49two things we see education system that this subject and I have talked about this over the years that where math came from physics, chemistry, biology where did we come from why do we learn all this two questions and because you asked the first question so I need to answer that why do we do this testing but look at it subjects not become our own subjects become skills so we have seen that human beings have 5 different skills is needed. So, the most important thing was logic. And this is since homo sapiens survived. Logic. Logic. We have made math as a subject. We have not made math as a subject.
24:36And we will start learning math tomorrow. We have to learn logic. And years later, after centuries, we got coding as a subject which could also help develop logic. Now, those who are good math in good and you correlate their logical ability that's simply it's a very highly correlatable skill science came from inquiry so we were inquisitive we didn't learn inquiry skills we developed science as a subject all pure sciences so as like that there are five different skills which we need in humans so it's a communication what is past total? I am interested logic, inquiry communication is third which is why all languages developed then memory and then physical ability so schools actually built boundaries and that's why it's built a sports ground because physical ability built and there are four things to develop memory cells for this we developed civics, history, geography as subjects through that we developed memory cells to develop to I think because we logically we don't see it so we see this subject I'm studying math and I'm in life I don't use every day math you don't know if you have a product pricing defined that's the easiest thing that's the cost of production I don't know that's the unknown variable It is a unknown variable and this is basically x and y.
26:18It is just 8th grade algebra which you are using it. We use in life every day math. I have to go here and logically this route is very tough. This route is easy, it is long but less time consuming. What did we do over the years? If you look at it, we don't learn communication in English class. We don't complete a chapter. If we do slowly, slowly, slowly, slowly, slowly, करके वापस जो आप बोल रहो कि मैं सिधा स्किल्स ही क्यों ना सीख लूँ मैं यह सब्जेक्स क्यों सीखूँ और उसके बाद इन स्किल्स को ज्यादा अच्छा क्यों करो मैं बोल दो अगर आप इन सब्जेक्स को देहोगे डीप inside in subject skills embedded just that we are not seeing it like this and we are saying that coding to just software developer coding is not but if you learn math and coding you will be a deadly coder logic will be very strong coding will be very simple good answer by the way this is how I am hearing for the first time I didn't know what to do so by my opinion one of the reasons to share this if we can take it out to a lot of people and say when you sit in math class or open math chapter, then don't see it in a normal chapter.
27:35Why are you studying in deep inside of me? Which ability are you trying to develop? Same way, if you look at the J.E. and the Needs paper, the papers are defined differently. What do we expect from engineers? Why do we do problem solving? So we ask more application based questions. In the paper, doctors, the skill set required is the process, memory. Because when you are in the theater, you will solve problems and you will not start thinking. So you have to follow the process. Everything has to be in your memory cell. It should be like a muscle memory. So in his papers, he is checking the abilities are different.
28:18And for this, his testing is different. But we are looking at the need test, why do we need to take the test? What can we check in the test? What can we check in the test? Problem solving or memory skills? Interesting. And do you think that in schools, at least schools, not parents, Now people focus on memory skills and re-tification and go further because when I did the rest of the other things that didn't happen much. I didn't see that 8th or 9th class of children and 10th class of children that they say that because I have to do better inquiry skills then I study science. No, I'm not going to study marks tomorrow so I study science at night.
29:02No, I'm going to kill my mother and my father. So this is the whole long over emphasis is our memorization ratification that's a beautiful objective that her teacher should teach the child that's why they study her parent should teach the child that's why they study and every society all of us empower us to learn this way that you study science so that your curiosity and inquisitive skills will increase you don't have to learn but focus is there focus is there that I will marks and take my and life will increase this is the first line where we started you said society parameter for success for students if the society society's parameter for success for a student is marks then everybody is geared around marks and you can't blame the student because some child who has 60 percent but he's really very logical will you respect him more or somebody who has got 100 out of 100 and society will respect 100 out of 100 so the question for us to think and there are some problems which we can discuss and may not have solutions today but question for us to think is that what is the gratification the child has to become far more logical his gratification is linked to his marks and that's why parents also just focus on that thing so this is over the years culture when chuka culture when chuka a salary is the only benchmark for defining a success of a professional in the society and marks is the only benchmark for the student then we as society has to go back and say that somebody who is earning less and doing good job how much gratification do we give how much do we discuss about him do we do we even give him an opportunity to come and share his perspectives.
31:20Tell me, what is wrong? How this has impacted our culture? Because this is the reality. That you judge how many marks are. The children's status and the parents' status. Parents have no status that I have a good first, I have a good fifth, I have a good fourth, I have a good third, right? It's a status game. What do you think? What is wrong? What is wrong with this culture? What has gone wrong? Something wrong. I think that I think learning people's interest in learning people's interest in marks I think deep inside if you see problem started when we started giving less value to teachers if you realize what has happened who wants to be a teacher in our society
32:06I you want to be a teacher it's a very good but look at it the present state means I mean, those who are top kids, all private equity, banking, families. Who is not a teacher? True. But everyone wants to learn my children as a teacher, they become a superhero. I got out of IIT, I didn't want to be a teacher. I want to learn my children as a teacher, who is a IIT. Or become a IIT. Or become a IIT. So I don't know when Maybe 18th century, 19th century I don't know when But I think the society Somehow gave less value Teachers used to be the most respected people In the society at a very given point of time One time came when we reduced teachers A little value I think that was the start Of degeneration of the societal values In the past few years in the world, it is a lot of effort to bring the respect for the teacher back in the society.
33:17If we have done this, so that's the first step to say, then you are not again saying that salary is the only benchmark to judge the best in the society. Your money is not the only thing. You are saying, Vidya, education, knowledge is equally important. I am not saying this is less, this is more. In Hanuman Chalisha there is a line. I am given by the Buddha, Buddha, and I am given by the Buddha. I think one of the best lines ever written in any kind of artis, for me. I am given by the Buddha, I am given by the Buddha, and I am given by the Buddha. I am given by the strength, physical strength, I am given by the knowledge, I am given by the wisdom.
34:03But Sari problems solve Kardena Prabhu Humne slowly and Gradually society mein Knowledge ko behut Demean kiya The people And I think for a human being To do well all the three are important You need to be physically Healthy strength you have to Knowledge to keep the discussion Flowing and the wisdom to say When to say when not to say I think and that was a skill set which i think teachers early stage were helping us to build in in human beings in all sorts of students somewhere down the line these real values got deroded we didn't value teachers too much in the society i think we've started valuing again post post pandemic and post this social media culture, I'm seeing respect for teachers a lot more again because a lot of people have started realizing that this profession is noble.
35:11This profession is not for the meek and random people. True. This profession needs serious people and teachers already realized that we will play our game up and play. Because we have met many teachers who have won the kids They want to win in the game. But they haven't done themselves. And now they have started working on themselves as well. So it's like, hey, my love is, I want this kid to win. But that kid will only win when I uplift myself and upskill myself. And then they have started doing it. So it has started changing, but not completely. Time will get time. It's time to be eroded. So it will get time to be done.
35:50But tell me, the teacher has a whole ratification in the world.

36:05you know i got a chance to work for a social enterprise and we have a very good thing there's nothing called good teacher there's something called good teaching and we all if you just say we all know our teachers we all know our teachers in our life there are some teachers so in that assignment I used to go and sit in classrooms at the back bench and say I see what happens in this class and we used to go hundreds of schools and classrooms and we realized that why one teacher is better than some of the other teachers in the same school but every school is one or two teachers who are favorite teachers.
36:52So what do they do that people don't do? And we decoded that and we made a small formula around that. But what my learning is that it doesn't happen to be a teacher in a country. It's not possible. So how do we use the resources best? How can we use the best? Two things are important. As good teaching as a philosophy, we start promoting in different parts of our country, as government, as everybody. What are those five things that you consider as a good teacher, as a child, and learning will happen. As a teacher, what is the biggest achievement? That you have to study a digestive system. When you start out in class, After 45 minutes, the children have a basic understanding of the digestive system.
37:46Now, to do this, there could be 100 ways. I'm not saying that there's only one way. But what is the least frictional way to pass on the message? Yeah. And that's good teaching. In which children enjoy learning, children study, and then your purpose is served. much i think that we decoded at that journey and we started percolating down in various schools in india because to get good teachers is a dream come true yeah and and you even don't know that somebody who is coming from a premium engineering or management college can be become a good teacher or not but if you teach people how to teach to be a good teacher i can give you an example so just say one of the easiest thing which you when you work with teachers to say that and teachers just laugh because they live in this reality that if you are 40 or 50 children are sitting in front of you, they are mentally not in that classroom.
38:58They are physically in that classroom. Now if you have a first class, imagine that a child who is the mom and papa has taken it off, he will take it off, he will rush the bus and send it off. If I have a class 5th student or 9th student have said, go ahead and go, go ahead and go. All of that has happened in his life early morning when he He was still struggling to keep his eyes open. And then he landed in the classroom. His agenda is not to learn digestive system. Teacher's agenda is to teach digestive system. True. Now there are two different worlds have to meet. And the easiest to make these two different worlds is ask the simplest question.
39:41So we tell a concept from near to far. And this is, a lot of people do this. So what did he eat in the morning? Now, no child has not eaten, but 99.9 % of his hands took his hands. Means anybody who was in the sports ground mentally or in the bus still mentally, they are all in that classroom. Teacher asked a question for his hands. This is an easy question. Now you took them to one place. Now we realize that that's such a simple thing. but just does not start making our classrooms interactive and you have asked 3-4 kids if you have ate 2-3 kids you have ate 2-3 kids you have ate 2-3 kids you are actually incentivizing people to answer and to participate by asking them easy questions and that builds up confidence and interest what is in 3 major differences what is in bad teacher or good teacher?
40:42one is a radio mode of teaching that I went to class and started talking to class. Class participation is less than 1%. Okay. This is bad teaching. Radio mode of teaching.
40:59I think in today's context that's not going to work out. I think second is relating with students. as a teacher if if you can't relate with your present generation of students is very very difficult and the third one i'll tell you a very interesting story which will relate to so a child has asked to teach it's like a joke but it will help prove the point ma 'am what is the weight of earth teacher said oh this is so good easy question I said, I don't know what the problem is. I said, I don't know what the problem is. No, ma 'am. How do you know? Everyone will go to the library and answer me. I don't want to give this answer.
41:50Then ma 'am went to the computer and she got out of weight of earth and came back. She said, I got someone in 10 minutes. Now you don't ask questions in the library. and that's why I say digital learning is so important so they told me the trillions of weight the child is standing up the weight is is all the people buses, buildings or without them I think in the date of today there are thousands of questions and it is impossible for a human being to answer all these questions upfront inside the class It is no shame to say can we learn together So I think that these three things are the base difference between good teaching and bad teaching In COVID this was a very good thing Many children taught teachers technology And that was a great collaborative way of learning together I think that in society the image is that teachers will answer all questions And they don't need to collaborate with them to learn new things or explore and find out that it can happen.
43:05I think that is the new age requirement today. Before, there was a saying that they didn't believe the blood of the blood of the blood. And teachers gave punishment because of that. Do you think that people learn more from giving punishment? There was a whole other thing. There was a reasoning somewhere else. But it was, over a few generations we didn't have learning pass on. and if you don't have a learning path then it became an activity like logic so now that class is going to be in math if you see the international education system they say okay you want to leave because you are not interested in this class you go out we will reach there we will reach there because to keep the interest alive for every student is not possible but whoever wants to study they want to study don't you feel that this is a lot of children that go out of class I'm enjoying my class my attendance is getting all of them I'm going to sit and enjoy I feel like J.Krishnamurti Foundation of schools if a child says and they really take care of students and they love children but philosophically Krishnamurti says that you can't force I can't do any course.
44:27It's a very difficult philosophy to play this school. It means that it's so difficult for those teachers. But if the child says, sir, I don't like it, I have to sit outside. You sit outside. But you realize that this is against the tight behavior. Because if you sit in your 40 friends and you sit outside, you can sit outside for one day, two days, two hours. It's not possible. human being is a social animal who like to be together one of the big problems is also education system because we are talking about education system and with the education system we will go to the digital learning and hybrid model practical skills you don't know how to teach them you have told them all the things there is logic, inquiry, communication physical ability right you talked about all of these things but practical skills do you feel we still at a place where coaching institute is not a practical skill.
45:28Give me an example of practical skills
45:34one of the largest relationship problems banking problems financial literacy these all things small life skills like let's say a cooking or something I don't know I also think that's a skill life that we don't teach but it's also very important how to manage your emotions relationship and all of these things like how do you manage yourself now you think as a country you have a regret how to deal with regret where do you teach where do you teach where do you teach where do you Krishna Murti has done a lot of work and has told but I think that in the world there is a major work and the university of pennsylvania research on this they said that we have to learn 5 skills and don't ask me all 5-6 but the skills which I like most and I keep talking about is self-control if you realize human beings are a bundle of emotions and there are two emotions which are most important love and fear So all the negative emotions Is there fear All the positive emotions Is there love Fear is anger Everything They said If you learn one skill Which is self-control And apply it for anywhere in the world You have to have honest Truthfulness You don't need anything If you learn one thing Self-control There will not be road rage not happen.
47:16You will be truthful and honest. I really like that one single thing. We are trying to do it. I want to go wherever I want, whenever I talk to children. But if I have to tell one thing to the government of India, I'll say, Self-control. Just one thing to teach, you will see the world differently. Just one thing. And they have actually, and they have very interesting experimented in the classroom. There's a video also. In the classroom, they gave a burger to all the children. All those who will not eat will get a juice also. 40 % of the class ate. They didn't get juice. Then they gave juice. All those who will not eat, drink, they'll get a pack.
48:10pack of chocolates or something like that and like that by the end of the whole school time they realized only 6 or 7 students out of 40 students actually have all the things which they have given them it's a very difficult thing to stop temptation if you ask me that something we want to learn to children which you have many problems one of the biggest practical skills which you can teach is self-control. If you teach them, then you apply it anywhere. As an employee, one single guy in Belgavi, no one sees it, he's joining the first day, he's not a manager, he has to get up, get ready and go to market.
48:58Now he's thinking, the boss doesn't look at me, I'll do my job, I'll do my job. If he taught him in the school system, in college, self-control, that this was the opportunity to teach it. Honesty towards your work. Honesty towards whatever you are doing. You have seen that. Towards yourself. Towards yourself. You are falling. Anything, whatever place you can use. So, in my opinion, there is a lot of work in the world. For practical skills to bring in life. How much we are coming as an institution? We can try. but we study a very small set. I think that as a schooling system, if we talk about this in the world, it will change.
49:46Practical skills, only self-control can change the way the world looks at each other. True. And what you're telling me about, is a big test. Marshmallow test. Marshmallow test. Which is, you keep one marshmallow in front of everyone, and you say, you don't eat it, you'll give it two. So many people do. So, another test was a follow-up test. Because you talked about it, so I want to add something. And I felt it was very interesting. So, the children took me hand-hand. I'm seeing it, I'll take it and eat it. I'm resisting temptation. Why do I wait for those who have not eaten, tomorrow they'll get two.
50:24Why should I do that? Yeah, yeah. So, they saw that the children have eaten versus the children have not eaten. people who went for burger versus people who didn't go for it. Both economic background and social background were very different. So, those kids who came from home, they took their hands to their hands. Because they didn't have much trust in the system. They thought they had a few promises, they said something, so what they see in front of them, they took it. Versus those who had a little privileged background, who had security, they were upset because they had a lot of trust in the system.
50:58Because they knew that they would give them a little bit. and they will give better. So, what I promise will give you in front of me. And this was very interesting about social psychology. Both children were tempted. Both children were feeling like I was interested in my favorite thing. Take it and eat. It was not easy to stop. But one was the because it was the background where it was a security that was and one was the background where it was that if it wasn't here, it wasn't here. So, scarcity plays even more important role than resisting temptation absolutely so we were talking about teachers earlier and i'm moving forward from practical skills to let's say that you said that i'm only studying specific agenda about that do you train your teachers who are studying so teacher training is a big problem in india there was a study done on example size the states in india only 40 % of teachers have confidence that we are studying we can study from the wrong place 60 % of teachers know that I am studying only because I will go to class without class
52:12and this includes this includes your school, college everything when we talk about test prep I think teacher is more like a facilitator first. They are not like a regular teacher. So as I was saying, IITNs also come and teach. So this qualification, the whole process of teaching is very different. When we take fresh teachers, we run a 90-day training program. 30 days pure classroom, 60 days on-job training. then you become a junior lecturer for students and then after almost a year you are a normal facilitator or faculty we are a lot of work with teachers to ensure that what we want to study we can get into that shape and size see difference between a teacher-led company and a brand-led company is that we have a teaching and learning process which rides over any specific teacher yeah so a good teacher hai tekin muje to sabko acha teacher banane hai sabko acha teacher banane ke liye i have to do good teaching ka training that when you enter class apne kaise class manage kar nah hai how can you engage with students for that we have to do that training otherwise buh standardization nahi aega or then we will have all sorts of problems ki ye class good class and this class is not good.
53:47Because we are not in schools. Parents are far more demanding with us that I am having a problem. Find a solution to this. And for that we have to because you see schools parents generally don't go to this but since we are testing test parents will immediately come and say my child is not getting hurt. My child is getting hurt. This is a problem in physics. And because we do so many interactions with students also. so training to be a lot of training and then in the process to embed good teaching in the process if not it will not happen second test prep teaching is not more than 60-70 % so whatever teacher whether it is in a digital medium or in a physical medium there are two things which are very interesting and when you don't go inside you don't know when the teacher is solving a problem know.
54:44Jitne bachche classroom mein beithe hunko lagta, muha a gaya. Ab mein akel mein hau, apne hostel mein hau, ani ghar pe hou. Mujche similar sawaal nahi pan rai. I don't know how to start it, how to approach it. So practice has a huge value. So after teaching inside the institution only, we will have a place where say everybody will solve this problem. And if you are facing a, say step one, you are facing a problem, you come to me. Teacher is just there to help you just to initiate this. Look at this. Put this formula. Is there a problem in step 3? So then you make them learn on their own. And the last piece is testing.
55:28The more and more, which we are talking about Michael Phelps, that the amount you practice, you will do better in the medal. More and more you practice. So you create a testing environment. create so teaching then practice and then finally the testing environment there are the three things which go like a circular format and spirally going upward that helps this learner to get confidence and then taking a test where he's actually doing it and that's a circular format for us and so you feel that the star teacher is especially in the coaching industry that teacher tells a lot of things that teacher explains how everyone understands, his kids are fans, his results are strong.
56:20Does that teacher beat that teacher can be done by building a right process and that teacher can be prepared by all the teacher in which the class results will be done? I don't think that we need to beat. Because ultimately this is a race. It's a race that you have to deliver top 10 kids. Absolutely. And you have to create maximum results. And star teachers have their ability, experience take them. If you are a big institute, all star teachers can't be there. You can't be there. You can't be there. Absolutely. So, if you take teachers, you can take good teachers, you can take average teachers, you can make good teachers, you can make good stars.
57:00You can mix. Absolutely. So, how do you make sure? That is why I said I focus on good teaching only. I have to study this topic or sub-topic. Because honestly, we are not movie-making business. So, we are a teacher who is going to go for 2 hours. He has a deliverable that I have to study this topic or sub-topic. And that has to be the best that I will study that I will understand the children. And when there are questions, he can solve it. I have to run the process in the best possible manner. Definitely there are some teachers who are above average and they are very good teachers. But you respect them.
57:38You give them a challenging questions and on the fly they will do it. Both respect head and that's how you build around it. They also become mentor to younger teachers and all of that is there. But you cannot have all star teachers. You have to replicate the process over star teachers because star teachers can come. they can give you great tips and tricks and because of digital medium they can be in every classroom whenever we want them to but the classroom will run with a process-based teaching and that helps to for us to deliver results so that's what my question was teaching process and good teaching skills and training can it help you beat results of star teachers yes yeah you have seen this happening I have seen this happening so parents choose to send which coaching institute or send which place to study our children should they ignore the fact that the star teacher is on their own because end of the day if there is a star teacher and that star teacher is studying your children and today you can't ensure all of that you have to see the same study is getting your children or not first and education is not about fun see learning is not fun I'll be very honest if someone has a wrong idea I can give it a thousand examples that after learning fun starts when you ask the question of math it's not going to happen it's no fun when you have learned and then you start solving it yourself then the fun starts and this can happen for cycling or swimming anything So the process of learning is transformation.
59:28Point A to point B. Mind is happening in the mind. And it's not happening. So love doesn't seem good. As a parent. When you're watching where to put your child. You have to see that my child can learn. Can you understand here or not? And it's the best process. Because companies like us. will have students across the country. And when we open a physical center or digital, we will try to get the best person to teach that. But we give them a process. Our parent company, Sri Chaitanya, over the last 40 years have built amazing processes. We just took that and said, how can we incorporate into a physical center business or the digital business?
1:00:17Talking about digital business, do you think digitally people can learn something people can learn online tech platforms and can change in life and change in life and can be done because
1:00:34in our age like once you are above 22, 23, 24 and above after that you have to learn because you have to grow up in life with a specific intention के साथ आप सीखते हो, तो तब तो आप online भी सीख जाओगे, book से भी सीख जाओगे, आपको कुछ ज़रुत नहीं है, आपको experiential learning इतनी ज़रुत नहीं है, आप कहीं से भी सीख जाओगे, क्यों कि आप में वो drive है to learn, so a tech can work for you, online education work, जब बच्चें when you are forced. So, if there is no stimulated environment and no experiential learning, then how do I have one-sided only watching TV, watching the internet, watching the phone, watching the internet?
1:01:15Can they actually get results? So, I will answer you can they actually get results in a minute. But let me tell you, learners have moved on. They are digital learners. They are digital natives. So, now think about behavioral point of view that if you have word ka meaning nahi aata hai toh aap kya karo ge? Google karta ho. Aap google karo ge aap laai. Aap wapas dictionary bhi toh nahi chao ge. Aap se des sal chote bachche jo abhi tiari kar raha unka behavior toh aur zyada change ho chuka hai. So their first place to go and learn something new is digital. Not physical. First place to go. The bigger bigger problem is that do we know how to teach them?
1:02:02They are going to be digital natives. They will learn online. They will learn online. As we as people who have gone to physical space and digital space, do we know how to learn how to learn? Now, two mediums people chose. They are engaging. There is no transformation in engagement. There is no learning in engagement. In learning So you have to understand That process of digital teaching Has to be in a way Where engagement is the initiation point But finally learning has to happen If the child didn't learn And he didn't solve the question So whatever it happens The child won't come again Because there are so many options Available in today's day Thousands So that's why we said We need to find And the teaching of process and learning is until that process works fine.
1:03:03Whatever we do, students are not going to come back to us. And that's why it has to work very well every time, every class. Because they are judging you more than you are judging them. In a physical classroom, teacher is judging a student that he can do or not. In a digital classroom, students are judging the teacher that he can teach me. and they have an option to say no they have a cross button to go out of the class yeah and that's the big big you know you have given the power to the learner yeah to say
1:03:42we understood that and we said we need to be near to the students who want to do well I am not an entertainment platform I am a learning platform I want to study them Those who want to study There is a big difference You can say I am a premium online player And maybe only one left in the industry At this point of time We are very serious about our results So we talk to children Their goals set You want to study right You will study online We will study right you want to take results. In 18 months of our inception, we published an online result. We have studied these children and they went to IIT, they went to Manipal, they went to IIIT, we published a result.
1:04:34For the last 3 years, every year, we are publishing an online only result. Because we have explained this to the children, this is the teacher that is 40-40 % online you will be able to do many things online and we will be able to do as a mentor so that you are not lost that if class is done what you do because everyone feels like a zoom class on and digital learning will start no, that is not learning you have to give the whole environment that when it comes to it, it's goal setting what will happen, what will happen, what will happen what will happen, what will happen, what will happen practice mentor kase kaam karehen aapke saath then they realize that no these guys are a serious player they they are not going to leave me by selling a course and i can't do so much of delivery by selling it at a you know very unit economics at very lower cost if i have to give good service i have to charge money for that and that's why we said that as online player we should be able to compete with all the offline players as far as services and results I don't think we are there but the way we are moving on results we will be competing with most of the offline players Is that the reason other tech platforms fail are they that they don't focus on their students who need to study they focus on everyone and they go to and sell I think when it starts It is a very long journey for me.
1:06:08There was a huge discussion about access and affordability. But there was no problem with outcomes. So, everyone came to the outcome, that we are very affordable or accessible to every village in this country. When we made this company, we said we won't show the end outcome, so the child will not come to you long time, and you will not grow on your platform. Education is little different than everything else. So we focused on the outcomes. What results do you want to do? Once the result comes, the customer confidence will grow on the platform. And that's what happened after 18 months when we published our first results, when in next year numbers were started improving and now people are people say that we are good and if you your question was and i don't see very frankly other edtech platforms as competition very frankly because we have a job in the market which is a very big market It is a very big market.
1:07:20For us, competition is social media platforms. How do you keep the child engaged against a social media platform? If the child went on the shorts or reels, then it was 1-2 hours left. And the amount I worked with him, it was zero. because mind is distracted math questions are more good to see the reels so I always think how do we study how much engaging we keep if a child has a reels and our small content will he watch that I don't think we have achieved success there but honestly there is not a day in our office which goes that this is a question That if the child is real and our content, who will see who will see?
1:08:18We say today that we are real and today will see who will see. But let's try to make ourselves better each day. We will be able to have a stage where we will be going, where the child will think, no, this is a good way to study and I will see this. But if you have told the outcome, if you focus on the outcome, and if you focus on the outcome, focus on outcome promise and outcome promise then do you think it's a bad promise to have because you're saying I'll get success in exams but I'll get success in placements or guaranteed results guaranteed one rank guaranteed they're very attacks so do you think it's bad then guaranteed nothing is guaranteed very frankly outcome promise promise not.
1:09:10No, outcome is. Outcome is improvement. So, when we start the journey, we do goal setting. And trust me, many children come to the who don't want to go to IIT. In India, give and take, if you are up to 1 lakh rank, the kind of colleges where you go, there are placement. 10-11 ,000 rank in IIT seats are over. ho jate hai. 35 ,000 tuk premium engineering college ke seats khatam ho jate hai. But engineering ke baad employment opportunity up to 1 lakh seats tuk hi hai. Now the question for us is that mein goal setting kaise karaatou? Aapke 10th ke marks kitnay hai? Abhi kitna ghanda pad saktay ho?
1:09:58Kaisa karo ge? And then we keep seeing that okay first 6 mahinay mein bachche ne kaisa perform kiya? Where we started I am a coach my job is to help to reach the child's best potential performance I am not saying that I want to get everyone but if I was 3 lakh rank last year then I can get him under 1 lakh so that when he goes to engineering college he will be in that engineering college and his life starts there so we have to see potential of the child and push him little more than that so that he is best performing that's our job and we will continue to promise that I will reach your best potential if your best potential number is top 10 I consider 1 to 10 almost the same potential if your potential is top 10 then I will reach your top 10 but if your potential is 1 lakh then I will reach 1 lakh but if you say it's bad marketing no hope no more people will not come no that's not
1:11:11not the end goal. It's not bad marketing. It's a very good way to say that I will give my children potential 5 % next term will reach the potential. Today, your child is doing this. It will do better. I guarantee. Nice. Interesting. And because your platform is digital, do you believe that digital platforms completely will take classroom experience at any given point? I don't think. I think everything will coexist. Everything. So, you can see that testing has all moved digital. So, if testing is digital हो गया है तो learning digital by default is there but हम ऐसे space में कि मेरी parent company हजार से ज़ादा school चलाती है हम खुद centers खोल रहे है चाले cities में नाव हाँ तो हम हम खुद कोशिश में लगे हुए हैं कि हम बच्चे को ऐसा एक experience दे दे चहां testing environment भी हो एक faculty for doubt solving भी हो and if someone wants to study physically fully, then they will study physically fully.
1:12:27But for me, there is no right and wrong. There is no black and white. We will remain like this for maybe next 20, 30, 40 years where physical education and digital education will coexist. And more and more they will merge the hybrid education. In which I am saying that children will be like 2 hours digitally, but will also do a faculty-based class. And that's how this will coexist. who results are better online or offline in today's date offline results are better but online results have never received seriously results just about affordability access I think now very serious everybody players I must tell you when we started 7 ,800 were there I don't know how many of them are surviving today but as many people are affected for all of them outcomes is an important point today no one can ignore the outcomes today and ignore an ad tech whether it is in higher ed space K12 space test prep outcomes is by default you have to imbibe by talking about outcome and ad tech platform because tech is a very important thing right so you are using tech to understand data understand psychology understand teacher training understand how many students are passing or not how much potential to grow all of that like you are tracking a lot of stuff to make yourself better do you believe that technology will advance so much where artificial intelligence will come and AI will replace teachers we are not the first movers on AI as far as ed tech is concerned because we think responsible AI is very very important than just to do one product launch so when we started our AI journey we also partnered with Google and we partnered with IIIT to say that how do we get best quality AI first AI will solve certain kind of problem in education what are the one or two problems which we want them to solve one of those was easy and I think everybody does that today is doubt solving that at 12 o 'clock a child is asking how soon how fast can you give from 2-3 years ago physically many people did work slowly that has almost vanished and now AI is 85-90 % accuracy to give doubts if the child is not satisfied he can say I will still like to talk to the tutor and the tutor will answer that question but we realized this is plain vanilla simple one This was not a big thing.
1:15:15What is so unique? One of the biggest problems for a 2 to 4 year journey Some kids start from 9th class, some kids start from 11th class In the way of need. In the 2 to 4 years, it will be like a lot of times that my marks are not good. I am demotivated. We saw a great value for an AI to be part of that journey. so he said instead of trying to build an ai teacher can we build ai mentor because again coaching so ai mentor was the biggest thing which we have been working really hard and we are very near to our launch what will the ai mentor do now i have given a test and i have 78 out of 100 out of it.
1:16:05Now individually every child has 22 marks where has gone. This is physically impossible to talk about. You can do analysis. But AI can do that. How much time has taken? How much time has taken? Absolutely. So we have said that one AI mentor is like building. The most important report decoding is. Because if you report decoding is, 90 % problem is solved. because today I got marks in which I had good where I had bad for the child individually for every teacher for every child is not possible but AI could do that in my journey I need motivation I need that character in Kota Factory I really love that character I think what can be a character with every child can that That mentor, Ajitubhiyah and Swetha Didi is with everybody when I need that.
1:17:07At 11am I'm seeing results at 11am, I don't understand why I got it. A small discussion started and imagine it has to be a voice based thing. To say that, you know that in class, 40 children have tested today. Question number 7, only 7 % of children have atriotide and you have one. Now you are talking about the teacher thing. Now you think that it is a single motivation. Okay. In one question, I am a 7 % student. You know that you had studied this topic and sub-topic. And there were three questions. Three of them had written. And that level of granular data, I don't think humanly possible. Now that comes back.
1:17:56And it seems that I am studying. If there are questions from there, I am doing it right. Next time I will see the syllabus. What topics are you going to test with? I will go to their videos. So that I do it. And the mentor also a day before the examination tells. This person is an exam. In topics. Let's watch these four videos. Nice. My learning journey will be so easy. I have somebody to talk to. Yeah. we don't want to replace teacher I think I respect a lot teachers and I think we respect them we need to help if you get data how can you make every student succeed from whatever potential he has we don't try to make number one but they are their number one I just need that extra nudge through that AI so that every child gets a new insight for himself.
1:18:59And while you're giving tests, AI will also monitor you. Absolutely. Where did you get to it? How much time did you take it? How much easier did you do it? Which thing you do every time? Every weekend? Which thing you do every time? Correct. So many reporting and analysis. Interesting. And then, how can it be used in motivation? Can it be used in learning? There are no new things. You haven't done any questions in this topic. You haven't done any questions wrong. Let's listen. Let's listen. practice it. And you say no, practice my help. Interesting, very interesting. This is a new way of learning.
1:19:32It's a new way of learning. And this is where AI will be most helpful and that's why we chose to say that this will take time to build but build it right and we think we think this will define the way as an industry we are working. This is how for a podcast. This is truly implemented. Infinity learn will go places like this is so good wow i i don't know at least from the theory or from what you're saying yeah it sounds great i don't know how much help will this implement in reality how much will it be better worse how much time will it be but listening on principle level it sounds so good and if you're able to deliver and accurately actually tell what you're saying it's mind-blowing
1:20:23it's insane absolutely we started with the pilot that we gave it and voice is still a little costly text is cheaper but we are just hoping that by the time we have a larger commercial launch if we can launch with voice so we are talking to people globally to say that how can we bring the cost of voice low and that is why lot of lot of other students who are not studying with us but just come to take test with us. Yeah. Because they see that this is an insightful information which I'll get just by taking this test. It's a very heavy incentive. Yeah. It's really good. Amazing. Wow. Now I don't even want to know whether you'll be replacing teachers or no because I'm just interested to see this work that teachers help.
1:21:10Because teachers have pinpointed insight. It's all that comes to mind but it's a problem. this is a little problem in this chapter. It's a little problem. It's like everybody will come up with that. This thought has bothered me over the years that how far my industry built the blood report. I've spoken about the same. That every day we cracked this, education will be seen differently. And it is not a new thought. over the years bothered me personally to say that how can we build equivalent to a blood report and the genesis of the thought comes from there to say that if we can have a report that say for instance 78 is good and 22 is not right which is just like a report then for the teacher also to go back and say bhai bas ye karna hai you don't have to again say 4 hours or math study.
1:22:14No, you don't have math for 4 hours. In these two chapters, you have to do two questions again. One is watching a video and you have to do two questions again. That's it. So what was the blood report for the pharma and health industry? You want to do that for education and coaching industry? Brilliant. Brilliant. With that note, thank you so much for answering almost all my questions. And it was a pleasure having you again. I loved this podcast. I didn't think that I will talk about all these things. But it's just amazing to understand. I'm blown away by two, three things. I'm really enjoying to understand the logic and the self-control thing, what inquisitive thing and the way you guys are building the platform.
1:22:57I think this is the right way to do things. This is amazing. Thank you so much for doing this. Pleasure is mine. You've been a great host and I really enjoyed talking over the cup of coffee. Perfect. Thank you so much. Thank you. Books. I have a interesting book based on one just. Determined. A free will. Is it like a great? No, it is not. It is more like a little scientific way to look at world. My genre is in three phases. It's either understanding ourselves. So it's more like self work. I read books. asking myself a hard question. Second is human behavior, consumer behavior. I really like it.
1:23:45And third is about data and world. So how AI is changing the world, or how data is changing the world. Or Amazon's letters or investors. Big things about life. So I was just thinking about these three things. Because one day I have to be a Jeff Bezos,

In this episode, our guest, Mr Ujjwal Singh, Founding CEO of Infinity Learn, talks about what makes toppers different, why Physics is critical for NEET, and how JEE Mains toppers often dominate Advanced too. The biggest difference is that winners don’t stop working hard even after winning.
We also dive into India’s obsession with competitive exams, the real reason students focus on JEE & NEET, and why coaching is as essential as a coach for an athlete. We also explore the state of teaching in India and why nobody wants to be a teacher but everyone wants the best teachers.
He also shares insights on how edtech isn’t competing with other platforms but with social media itself. And the big question is, will AI replace teachers? A must-watch for students, parents, and educators!
