Key claims
Prolonged unemployment can be a signal to pivot; the market may indicate there are no suitable roles or that the person’s strengths don’t match current opportunities. Focus on what’s within control, seek feedback on strengths, and consider stepping down a level to regain confidence and income before moving forward. Also process the hardship and extract lessons for future effectiveness.

We don't talk about it enough, that when you have lost your job and you're looking for a new one and it's dragging on and on and on, I think sometimes that is trying to get your attention that you need to pivot. There's a product market fit. Sometimes you're much better off saying, okay, if this isn't working, the market's giving me information. What information is it giving me? So be willing to say, okay, some of this is outside of my control, but what's within my control and what is the market telling me?
