1:05So instead of filling our calendars with busy work that will eventually just burn us out, there are ways to be more intentional with our time. Laura Mae Martin, an executive productivity advisor at Google, was interviewed on our HBR idea cast and she has two tips that she says have worked well at one of the biggest organizations in the world I want you to take just a few minutes and look at your calendar over the next few weeks if you have a lot of days with back-to-back meetings it's probably a sign that you have too many priorities right now in this case you should intentionally leave space open in your schedule to decompress and process some of the work you're doing it can help to tell yourself that you're only going to commit to 80 % of the opportunities that that come your way.

1:49Building off of that, we can all probably be more intentional about how we divvy up our time. For instance, if you decide you're gonna do heads down work all afternoon because you have meetings all morning, even though you know that you hit a creative wall in the afternoon, you're letting your schedule control you instead of the other way around. Instead of accepting this, commit to making a change to your schedule moving forward. And a part of that might be telling the people in your professional life and your personal life what you need to be at your best and really just deliver the best work.
