Key claims

AI licensing is growing fast; a $1.5B Anthropic settlement with book publishers/authors highlights the trend. The market estimate rises from ~$75M two years ago to as high as ~$20B this year, potentially doubling next year. The shift is from massive general-purpose AI deals to specialized licensing for niche datasets.

Notable examples

“photos of New Orleans pre-Katrina” and “1990s TV footage” for targeted bot behavior; using advertising performance data, company analytical reports, and anonymized health data. Key cautions: confirm you own the IP and ensure privacy/guardrails with the licensing partner.

And this could be your advertising data, what has performed, what hasn't. It could be analytical reports about companies.

1:42It could be anonymized health data that could help in the health industry. There's a lot of data that could actually have value. But before you just jump in, you have to ask yourself, do you really own the IP to this content?
