1:04My first interest in sports was because I was an athlete myself. So I love sports. And I always wanted to know, what do coaches do? And I remember talking to Pete Carroll, the coach of the Seattle Seahawks, and he asked me, he says, so, Ranjir, what do you do? So I'm an organizational theorist. I said, I study how to unlock organizational potential. So I asked him, I said, what do you do? He said, I unlock human potential. I was intrigued by that answer, and it really made me realize that's what leadership is all about. It's all about unlocking human potential, both individually and as a team, as a collective.
1:40You know, my first thought when I met a sports coach, which was really the idea that they would say it's all about winning, because that's what you do when you're playing a sport. I was really kind of surprised to learn that many of them, not all of them, many of them say, no, it's not about winning. It's about the process of playing. And are you playing to your best, to your best potential? Any sport, there's going to be winning and losing. And as one coach, John Wooden said, you know, where there are peaks, there are valleys. What can I learn from winning? What can I learn from losing? In researching, there are some common themes that cut across great coaches.
2:17And I came up with five T's. talent, training, teamwork, tenacity, and transformation. I'm going to walk you through what great coaches do by leveraging the key levers that allow them to unlock that great human potential individually and collectively.
2:51Thank you.
