In short
A one-minute leadership Q&A on deciding whether to quit a job, framed around identifying your “why,” addressing fear, and making a backup plan.
Guest backgrounds
No guest is named; the host/coach provides the advice and says they’ve been at their job since early pandemic days.
Key claims
Quitting is okay; the hardest part is deciding when to exit; you must clarify why you’re leaving and what’s holding you back; if fear is the blocker, trace its root and mitigate it.
Notable examples
Fear of not getting the next job, fear of not being paid what you’re worth, and fear that nothing will change—each answered by getting specific information and preparing a backup plan.

I am here to answer your toughest leadership questions in one minute or less. I've been at my job since early pandemic days, and it's always been a struggle, but it's really been getting worse. How do I know when it's time to quit and go somewhere else? So knowing when it's time to quit and exit is probably one of the hardest decisions to make, because guess what?
1:21We are taught from day one, very early on that quitters are what? I'm not even going to say the word. So one of the things that you need to come to terms with, number one, is it is okay to quit, right? The thing is, in terms of making your decision, is figuring out your why. Are you making meaning as to why you would be leaving this current job? And is it important enough to you? As well as what might be holding you back. If what's holding you back is fear, you have to understand where that fear is rooted in and come up with what are things that you can do to mitigate that fear. Let me give you some concrete examples.
1:57Are you afraid of not getting the next job? Are you afraid of not getting paid what you're worth? Are you afraid that nothing's going to be different if you leave and go somewhere else? Well, then what do you need to do? Try to get answers to those questions so that then you have a backup plan when you're ready to make that decision. And you'll know when you need to make that decision. You'll know when you know. Make sure to check out Coaching Real Leaders wherever you find your favorite podcasts.
