0:36Tim Gettys:Today's gaming news stories include Saudi Arabia buying a chunk of Capcom, AI Copilot is coming to Xbox consoles, and that Subnautica story somehow just cut really, really crazy. We'll have all this and more because this is Kind of Funny Games Daily.
1:00Tim Gettys:what is up gamers welcome back to kind of funny games daily for monday march 16th 2026 i'm sorry oh what date march 16th march 16th yeah one six three 16 can i get a hell yeah hell yeah Oh, fuck. Open up your Steve Weiser's, boys. It's 360. Oh,
1:33Tim Gettys:no. He came to see you. He came to see you. Okay. Oh, he's Greg standing up on the speaker. Oh, the camera. Greg is over there. He's in the court. He's drinking beers.
1:52Andy Cortez:Hell yeah. Nothing better than a 10 a.m. Budweiser. King of beers. Just a Bud hard. One beer, two beer. Rest in peace, blessing.
2:04Tim Gettys:I can say stone cold. I was like, oh.
2:06Andy Cortez:Now, for the record, Christopher says, great, eat that beer. You need to know how many times I was like, well, Kevin will kill me. If anyone throws a beer to me while I'm on set. I was like, how messy are we getting right now? Kevin will kill me if I chug a beer on set. I was like, so I could come into work and I could set my phone up outside and discord in. And then I could walk off set and chug it out. But then I only have the one pair of pants. I'm going to smell it. You know what? It was a slow play. A couple Budweiser's.
2:32Tim Gettys:Pulled over after work. Sir, what do you smell like? One beer, two beer?
2:37Andy Cortez:Well, officers, you know it's a national holiday. It's 316 day.
2:41Tim Gettys:Greg, how are you doing? I was scared because I did see you walk over to Barrett and explain something. I was like, what is happening? Who's coming in? Who are you calling? so this is pretty tame actually by your standards for my standards yeah of course I'm feeling good you know what I mean
2:54Andy Cortez:we're having a day here
2:56Tim Gettys:it's been a day already I mean so many people are out right if you watch the buzz everybody go watch the buzz it's all wrong don't watch the buzz
3:04Andy Cortez:as usual not if it's happening buzz is completely outdated by the time it hits the store shelves that's how it goes immediately immediately everybody's sick we started having them drop like flies yesterday for different reasons international colds coming in nobody knows what's happening out there
3:18Tim Gettys:just insane and then this morning not to peel back the current two budget but then everything's all fucked and then I just see Bear come in and he's setting up the thing he's like why is the screen not working why is the back wall I'm like this would be awesome if no one's here and also we have no screen at some point we got to accept God saying
3:34Andy Cortez:don't make content today and that's when we all go to the bar yeah exactly we just tell
3:38Tim Gettys:Tim hey we're not doing anything today for a good chunk this morning it was just like this was what the back wall looks like we're like how do we fix honestly this is a pretty good
3:46Andy Cortez:look right there's something we need to get straight right away all right and that's that everybody's got to be chill and everybody has to remember that tim doesn't watch everything so when we fuck something up like say not do a kind of funny podcast and no one noticed we don't fucking make a reddit thread about it we just go oh god the guys are pretty busy i guess during gdc
4:03Tim Gettys:did you also not realize that i didn't realize that didn't happen because i saw the friday night
4:07Andy Cortez:i'm fine i'm like fucking dead on the thing i'm like there's no kind of funny i'm like that can't be right no there's no kind of funny podcast i was like we it's it's still i think the thing that we think of the kind of funny podcast on Monday. Yeah. So when we were like, all right, there's no game showdown. Yeah, exactly. There's no game showdown on Monday because of it. We just never thought to like, I think the schedule is only built. I noticed last week when I started building the schedule, it was like, I really had to be like, oh shit, Kevin only went this far putting in game showdowns for Mondays.
4:30Andy Cortez:And so it's like blah, blah, blah.
4:32Tim Gettys:Yeah.
4:32Andy Cortez:There's a bunch of Tetris going on a very complicated schedule.
4:34Tim Gettys:That makes me very happy though. Because when I saw that thread, I was like, man, like maybe just Greg had a higher level thinking. He had the conversation with Tim. We figured out, no, we were just, I mean, we definitely didn't need it.
4:43Andy Cortez:You know what I mean? It's not like that. We had enough content. You didn't miss anything.
4:45Tim Gettys:We're all done. We're all having a good time. Getting ready to get into KFGD. Anything you've been playing before we get in there? No, we're going to yell spook.
4:52Andy Cortez:Kind of Funny Podcast needs a rejuvenation. Every time we do something different. Oh, you're just being fun with us, aren't you? Sorry, I'm pretty mad. Every time we change the Kind of Funny Podcast, people get so mad that it's not the Kind of Funny Podcast anymore. Like, fine, it's just the same shit. Don't get mad when we show up and Nick just talks about whatever. Greg is in a mood. We're all. I want beer in, everybody. It's 10.05.
5:10Tim Gettys:And it's not good because I'm just instinctually going for the beer. And that's not good. Come on.
5:15Andy Cortez:What do you mean it's no good? That's no good. We had a fun one today. You and me. It's Saudi Arabia. It's Saudi Arabia. Jesus Christ.
5:22Tim Gettys:Fucking Jesus Christ. But of course, remember, this is Kind of Funny Games Daily. If you're watching live, be a part of the show by super chatting on YouTube.com slash Kind of Funny Games. We couldn't do it without our producers on Patreon.com slash Kind of Funny. So thank you, Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster, and Delaney the Psalm whining. For now, let's begin with what is and forever will be the Roper Report. It's time for some news. Six stories today. A Baker's Dozen. Do we just always have the one now? You know what I mean? Until that one dies.
6:01Andy Cortez:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
6:02Tim Gettys:Incredible. Welcome to the show, everybody. Story number one, Saudi Arabia buys another 5 % of Capcom as Resident Evil Requiem sales hit 6 million. This is from Ethan Gotch over at Kotaku. Resident Evil Requiem has shown that Capcom's gaming domination isn't slowing down anytime soon. The game just became the fastest selling entry in the horror franchise's history a year after Monster Hunter Wilds had the biggest launch for that series. The critically acclaimed game and strong sales haven't gone unnoticed by fans or industry watchers. Saudi Arabia, currently in the process of gobbling up Electronic Arts, just grabbed a 5 % stake in the Resident Evil maker.
6:47The timing is notable. Requiem hit 6 million sales in its first couple weeks, Capcom announced on Monday. Going forward, Capcom plans to implement several measures, such as ongoing support and additional game content so players can continue to enjoy the title longer. The company wrote, DLC is already rumored to be coming later this year, and Capcom is teasing other plans ahead of the franchise's 30th anniversary later this month. Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, just expanded its stake in gaming with a new 5 % shareholder stake in Capcom, GameBiz reports, via Automaton. The stock was purchased by Electronic Gaming Development Company, an investment subsidiary under Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salam's MISK Foundation.
7:41That's the same group that recently took over SNK Corporation, shoehorned Cristiano Ronaldo into the new Fatal Fury, and oversaw the release of an AI slop trailer for the fighting game's second year of seasonal content. The company claims its new stake in Capcom is, quote, pure investment to reap profits from the stock. The new stake is in addition to the existing 5 % stake that the Saudi Public Investment Fund previously purchased. The other wing of Saudi Arabia's growing gaming ambitions is Savvy Games Group, an investment vehicle led by former Activision exec Brian Ward. He was recently interviewed at GDC 2026 about the group's long-term vision after it acquired high-profile companies like Scopely from Monopoly Go and Niantic Pokemon Go.
8:31Ward claimed Savvy is in no rush to make any changes per game file. Saudi Arabia's expansion into gaming is as much about acquiring cultural capital and soft power as anything else, which makes the recent war launched by the U.S. and Israel against Iran a test for the kingdom mixing business and geopolitics. The Washington Post previously reported that Saudi Arabia has been lobbying President Trump for weeks to get him to bomb Iran. Quote, it's obviously not helpful for the region to have this escalation, and it will probably change or cool the perception of it as being a stable and quiet place where people want to go.
9:14Ward told Bloomberg about the war his bosses appear to have supported. In addition to over a thousand dead and regional fears about missiles and drone warfare, the war has been spiking the global price of oil, which benefits the company currently trying to close a deal to buy EA for 55 billion dollars much of which is financed by high interest debt saudi arabia saudi arabia also recently consolidated its control of the biggest street fighter tournament event of the year evo it's also reportedly pursuing other acquisitions in gaming despite calls for more regulatory scrutiny a friendly trump administration seems unlikely to do anything but rubber stamp the current ea deal there's the smallest amount of good news there which is resident evil oh my god
10:00Tim Gettys:That's what you're grabbing. Fuck me. We got that. And then we got all of this. Greg, where do you want to start with this dumpster fire?
10:09Andy Cortez:This sucks. You know what I mean? The continued encroachment of the Saudi Arabia public investment fund stinks. Again, we've talked about this a million times in the show. You know, this is what I learned it. And you know it, of course, from our WWE stuff of like the term sports washing, right? Of like, okay, cool, let's clean up our image by sponsoring all these sports, bringing all these people here. Look at how cool we are. We're the city of plays. They want to be called, right? You then see it move over to video games. You've then seen it move over to comedy. You name it. Saudi Arabia is throwing money at things, trying to clean up their image, that they aren't killing journalists from the Washington Post and not at all degrees removed from the person we're talking about here of the crown prince.
10:51Andy Cortez:And of course, then just the atrocities of human rights that are happening over there as well. So it's still as disturbing as ever. It sucks to see it happen. You know you're getting into some fucking shady shit when you're like, well, it's the Savvy Games Group doing that over here. But over here, this is the Electronic Gaming Development Company, a subsidiary. It's like, oh, my God.
11:11Tim Gettys:How many shell corporations? You know what I mean? I'm playing Metal Gear here, right?
11:14Andy Cortez:Where I'm chasing out what the fuck's going on and who actually is doing it. But it all leads back to one place in one group of people. And that sucks. This whole thing sucks. You know, it's funny. Not funny, I should say. I like the reporting here to bring in the Bloomberg article, right? Because over on Bloomberg, there was this article that went up. What day was this? It was incredibly recently. March 11th, right? Which was the Iran war threatened Saudi Arabia's$38 billion video game push, right? As it is really delving into what that means. This is from Cecilia over at Bloomberg of what this means for them as they go to this.

11:45Andy Cortez:And again, they've been for years working on this, let alone the EA, let alone everything else. but then it is also the fact that our president is in their pocket this entire administration which is as rigged and clearly fucking corrupt as possible they're not going to stand in the way of any of this stuff so it really does become what is going to shake out with this war what is going to shake out with midterms what is going to shake out x y and z but I don't think you see this grind to a halt anytime soon and when it does when inevitably the bottom falls out on this and whatever happens happens maybe it's just a change in leadership regime change which is sometimes what we're talking about uh depending on who you talk to on what we're doing in the iran war to begin with um it's a can of worms this is like what we've talked about from the beginning and you can remove saudi arabia from it and talk about tencent you talk about all these foreign groups that were coming in and investing in the video game market and where we're going and also
12:42Tim Gettys:with those foreign groups them now pulling out a lot of the times right as you're alluding to how Saudi Arabia inevitably are not going to be able to fund SNK and have all of these King of Fighters on a bunch of WWE programming, spending all of this money and resources on a game that is not performing as well as you would think it would compared to the amount of money that they're pouring into it with netties pulling out from Gang of Dragons. All of these little things, you're seeing it all happening, with Tencent pulling out of High Guard, of course a different story, But still, this infinite money glitch is not infinite to a certain degree.
13:17Andy Cortez:Yeah, there was a couple weeks ago on Games Daily, we talked about an article, and I forget who was reporting it. Chad, if you can find it for me, just shout it out so we can get it up. That was that there had been rumors that they were starting to cool on this. Like, okay, cool, we can't be throwing our money around like this. But it's such an interesting thing of they're using the sports, and they're using the video games, and they're using the comedy as propaganda. So when you bring up the return on investment on Asin King, I don't think anyone at Saudi Arabia is worried about that, right? I think it has to be the other side of the oil, the war, the tumultuous Middle East.
13:48Andy Cortez:To bring this back to nerdy shit that you may not know about or care about, next year's WrestleMania is supposed to be in Saudi Arabia. And so there is this big question in the wrestling community right now. Is that actually going to happen? As we see everybody else that has fallen for this fucking Pied Piper of money over there right now canceling events in the near future. You go, okay. But you look at that and what if we're talking a year out of what this war done, how unstable the Middle East is, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. You then get to a point of if this goes as bad as it seems like it's going and could go and X, Y and Z and people don't feel comfortable traveling there.
14:23Andy Cortez:And it isn't this destiny. If that initiative from Saudi Arabia fails, that's when you go, all right, cut all this shit then. Yeah, because SNK isn't making us money. We don't give a shit.
14:31Tim Gettys:Yeah, exactly. Masks off. Or they eventually cut it themselves. right because it's it's so interesting to me because like to pull it back right of course i think capcom and all of these video game things they're the smaller breadcrumbs for them they want to build they want to build these things out they want to say hey look we own capcom and you like resident evil so we're good people right but then the bigger piece of this is they're trying to they're they're in bed with the ellisons trying to buy out you know the entirety of warner brothers and which includes uh cnn right like which is a massive massive news organization that they can now potentially from the background control and puppeteer right like these are the little things like the capcoms like the evos like the uh the golf tournaments that they're owning that they're building up like oh we're good and then now oh we're also in the pockets of the ellisons and also we're the reason why they're able to buy out all this stuff right so this is all of this is not for them to buy out ea and capcom necessarily right this is just the smaller stuff to get to the end goal which is complete propaganda as much as possible yeah so uh i want to pull out some super chats really quick we have a lot of them that we're going to go through but uh specifically
15:37Andy Cortez:we got from claw master spall over there said greg it's etc are you drinking beers at 10 16 in the morning at your job no shut up you know what i mean uh claw master thought super chats oh jesus christ he's chugging hell yeah hell yeah uh capcom doesn't need that saudi money the big difference between this and SNK is that SNK needed the money more than Capcom. I'm very afraid this will spread to take over Capcom. And that's actually a great point.
16:05Tim Gettys:I will predict in the next two years that they will buy Capcom. Like, oh yeah, for sure. This is what they do is that they get in there. They're like, oh, Evo, what's going on with Evo? A little crack coming in the crack. Exactly, 5%, 5%. Okay, now we're just going to buy the entire thing or majority stake of it. Do you think that they're eventually going to pick up the entirety of Capcom?
16:21Andy Cortez:No, but maybe it's just foolish naivete. You know what I mean? Like, maybe it's just me hoping that they don't do that. It seems like they are, for the most part, diversifying their funds, right? This is one that's just about profitability, they say. It's not, you know, it is, again, like, to get back into what we're talking about here, like, Savvy Games Group is the one to watch, right, in terms of, like, what they're up to, really, right? Subsidiaries, right? Scopely, ESL Face It Group, Steer Studios, Savvy Academy, and then Stakes and Hero Esports, Embracer Group, Take-Two Interactive. Again, these are where you start getting into the bigger names.
16:53Andy Cortez:And it's like, I think, again, what are we trying to do in reality behind the scenes with this propaganda machine and with this games washing? And it's putting your money in. And I don't it's what we go back to what we're seeing time and time again is that you can't go into the video game market expecting double digit 30 percent return on investment. So this clearly isn't about the actual investment. So then it becomes a OK, like what is the does Capcom does buying Capcom win you the goodwill? does it do the thing or is it just a thing you can say and show and promote i don't know
17:28Tim Gettys:uh yeah no it's it's to me it also is a very interesting one capcom because ea makes a lot more sense because you have the connection to sports yeah right like i think that's the 99 percent of the reason why they bought that is that now they can go to every sporting event and be like hey like we're the guys that own ea and all your fucking stuff so we get to you know get access to exclusive access to all these people yeah but capcom it's like yeah what is that end goal maybe it is the expansion to japan is that like the end goal here is less of the american side of it is hey we want to be have some control in japan at least in terms of their uh pop culture uh but i also want to pull up this one this is from aaron lime super chatting and saying the saudi royal family owning 10 total stock in capcom is so frustrating they're the only funders in town because investors are chasing ai and own stock in so many other companies like nintendo worried for Capcom Cup.
18:19That's also a good point. Capcom Cup over there. That is it for our Super Chats about Saudi Arabia. Any final thoughts before we move on to another great story? This sucks.
18:27Andy Cortez:The world sucks. I hate that every time we have to talk about this show, it sucks. It's supposed to be fun gaming news, but it's always shitty gaming news. It's fine. Let's go to story number two. Is this good news? A little bit lighter. Yeah, yeah, for sure. Xbox just revealed gaming co-pilot is coming to current generation. Fuck! This isn't good news at all! Why? It's gaming co-pilot. It's fine. Don't worry about it. Current generation consoles later this year. this from Dustin Bailey at Games Radar Plus. Microsoft has announced that its Gaming Co-Pilot AI Assistant, which has been available in beta on PC, mobile, and the ROG Xbox Ally, since last year will be coming to current-gen consoles in 2026.
19:02While you're on the second beer, how many beers can we get you through?
19:05Tim Gettys:You can take this one. One beer. How many bad stories do you have? I got a few. I got a few. I'm excited to announce that later this year, we will be bringing Gaming Co-Pilot to the current-generation consoles, and we will continue to bring it to more services that players are playing this is from son sonali yadav xbox's gaming ai partner group product manager revealed at a game at a gaming sorry at a game developers conference panel attended by games radar plus and not as easy as it looks is it no no it is i mean especially when i take the little bit of beer beer sips presumably the current generation consoles simply means xbox series x and s though no specific platforms were called out in the announcement as it currently exists on other platforms gaming co-pilot lets you ask guide-like questions about the game you're currently playing microsoft's official site offers an example question like quote can you remind me what materials i need to craft a sword in minecraft you can ask for game recommendations or you can play history or account details.
20:09Let me just back up on that.
20:11Tim Gettys:Hey, everybody, you can fucking do that in the video game. In Minecraft, when you go to the crafting bench, it tells you what you fucking need. You don't need to ask an AI what to do when the game tells you what to do. That is quite literally the worst example of anything I've ever seen about AI and video game knowledge. That is the stupidest shit. But Roger, I just don't know how to do it. If this was the original version of Minecraft on the PC that didn't show you that, but the console version shows you that. I don't know how to do it.
20:41Andy Cortez:Or if you forgot when your Game Pass subscription is set to renew, can't click into your settings, huh? Not to mention this. Hey, Xbox, when's my game or co-pilot? When's my Xbox Game Pass subscription set to renew? They renew every 30 days. It'll say some dumb bullshit like that. It's not going to answer the right thing. Do that in the stupid AI pal voice too, like the DJ on Spotify. Hey, Greg, I'm glad you asked that question. Let me just set you up real quick though, because Xbox Game Pass is the best every 30 days. What are you fucking talking about? What are you talking about? Let me finish off this fucking story before I just jump off the fucking cliff.
21:15Oh, I fucking... Gaming Copilot has been in beta for some time on non-Xbox consoles without much wider buzz, positive or negative, in the gaming community, but that may change once the AI assistant reaches a wider audience on Xbox consoles. Either way, Microsoft appreciates the data from those who use the feature up until to this data quote we've learned a lot in the past year and appreciate all of the feedback that we've gotten from the community yadav says uh yeah thank you for um giving us your data and now we can use it we love having to train it to somehow uh bomb people in palestine uh greg how do you feel about this are you going to be using this xbox gaming asha said as monetization and ai evolve
21:59Andy Cortez:and influence the future this future we will not chase short-term efficiency or flood our ecosystem with soulless AI slop. Games are always going to be part of the art. It's just like, I am not a smart man. I'm drinking Bud Heavies at 1023 on a Monday morning. You know what I mean? To celebrate 316. I mean, that's good. But, like, I just struggle so hard at what you're trying to fucking do here. This is so taking like, well, when a you're making up, this is, this goes back to what we always used to argue about on beyond and everything else. Like, will a grandmother understand the difference between the PS3 and PS4?
22:48Andy Cortez:And it's like, that just isn't fucking happening. That just isn't happening. And maybe it's the, so like, what is the 0.02 % of players who are turning on their Xbox and be like, how do I craft a sword in Minecraft? And it's like, you're missing the basics of how to play this game, which then tells me you are not playing this game, which tells me you won't stick around even with the AI helping you. Right. It's like, I fully believe that there are cool, helpful uses for AI. I have yet to see them for the most part. When I watch her, not even the fucking the AI thing, but when I watch her and it's like so seamless to be like, do this, add it to that, call that thing.
23:27Andy Cortez:Like, like, damn, that actually, I could, that'd be a nice future. And I realized for that kind of future, you got to fucking baby step your way to death. But like, we shouldn't be baby stepping on this. Cause this just doesn't make any sense of no, one's going to turn this shit on and use it this way.
23:39Tim Gettys:And it's not like it's solving something that doesn't exist. Like walkthroughs exist. You know what I mean? Like it is such a, we are completely destroying the, by convenience, we're destroying our lives even more and more and more. Like it's so interesting that we have a phone that has all of the information of the universe. We have people that are dedicating their entire lives to playing these video games making incredible walkthroughs every single day and then now uh ai gaming co-pilot is going to scrape all of that shit and then just do it wrong do it wrong and is going to put it on the console for the sense of convenience pull up your fucking phone and look up a walkthrough and take
24:13Andy Cortez:five extra when we were at ign not you but me in bear when we were at ign right like it was already dude we got to chase seo what are the questions when you play a game for review what are the questions you're thinking of so we can and it is so fucking simple now to open your phone and talk into it yep hey google how do i do x y and z and you get the boom here you go you get to the link and now granted they're scraping that and putting that at the top too but you're finding the articles the wikis the whatever is to go do it and i and i think you know as a playstation person that has covered it for so long you go look at the launch of the playstation 5 and tip cards and fucking game center and like dude what a worthless fucking endeavor that wasn't worth your time nobody supported it it's complete trash i know that for the launch games you worked with developers to make and even that was like this i'm playing bug snacks i'm like this just doesn't fucking matter i don't yeah like because that stuff requires that yeah and that stuff requires a full-time position for someone to be just saying importantly i think it requires like to do it right requires a person, like I just said, that has played the game and knows it to give it to a developer.
25:23Andy Cortez:A developer doesn't know what you're going to get stuck on when they release the game. No matter how much you beta test do alphas, whatever, when you release the game to the world, new problems, questions pop up all the time and what it is of how to do this. So it's like, you can't predict this. I struggle to look at this and be like, this is where it would not only be help. Maybe I don't struggle for the helpful part of playing a game. Be like, man, I keep losing to this boss hey Xbox what am I doing wrong like that but again that almost feels like I feel right now of like hey Siri put this on my calendar and then she opens Apple I'm like I don't use that I use Google Cal you shouldn't oh well fuck don't even stop and then they send the text that says all the garbled stuff I said it's like we're so many degrees removed from being able to be like Xbox I keep losing to this boss what's going on yeah the exam I can't find it I was trying to find it to pull it up but someone pointed out that like one of the demos that they showed for it was like a walk like a them walking through of like oh yeah this is a simple uh walkthrough of like a simple ship in this game that you can use but it was like completely the wrong ship of course that they were like talking through and like trying to walk the the player through and uh when the in reality the ship that they're actually like trying to get working was like a very complicated, more deep game thing.
26:42And that's just where this all starts to fall apart of why the implementation here isn't even giving us the promise that this thing is actually doing what you want it to. And then Greg to bring it back to the question of like, why are they doing this? Not for us, because I'll bring up the Imran post from over the weekend.
27:02Andy Cortez:Imran quote tweets this and says, wait, fuck, I just realized that this is so they can add the Xbox user base to co-pilot active number users around GTA 6. so yeah no it's totally talk about how many people are using this real quick everybody keeps complaining I'm sorry I set off your devices hey Siri text mom this is the police your child is dead send
27:27Andy Cortez:were you fast enough to stop it were you fast enough to stop it I'm from the bay that's northern cow
27:39Tim Gettys:I am a big proponent of the PlayStation game help. I wish that that was, they were able to figure out a way to actually do that. And what they should have done and what all these companies should, instead of investing millions of dollars into AI, that's clearly not going to work is to partner with an IGN. You should partner with a game spot and be like, Hey, let's build out early access. Exactly. Here's the team. You guys are already doing it ahead of time. Let's just build out the team. And you have a little IGN logo, click the fucking thing. That would be incredible.
28:05Andy Cortez:What would that be? That would be serving the customer. Yep. None of these places want to do that. The world we want to live in and talk about, I get one of my Instagram feeds or whatever is, you know, eighties vintage history. I don't know. And like, it comes service often of the Nintendo helpline. And they're being real fucking humans, Nintendo employed so that you could call and say, I can't do this in Zelda. What's wrong? And they go, well, did you get it? And they walk you through the problem. It's like, those videos are beautiful. That is serving the customer. And all people want to do right now is serve the shareholders and that's all we give a shit about and that's why do this ai it's very clear that this isn't a great implementation of it this we aren't where we need to be with it it isn't smart enough to shove it in there so it can be another fucking thing that pops up and on your pc eats up your fucking whatever i don't know i don't know pcs and then on xbox just annoys the shit out of you you never use it you accidentally set it off all the time you have a you have an lg right i do
28:59Tim Gettys:this fucking you got the update where it just starts it just starts doing ai shit now no dude It just updated randomly and now I'm just I'm talking to Lianza and then just it's just like You want to do that and it's just trying to do AI shit It's like just let me fucking use The settings menu correctly like why are you Updating all this shit and just patch working all this Garbage it's incredible it's incredible how Fucking bad technology is and how expensive If I you know if we were if we
29:22Andy Cortez:Did any of the stuff in any of these spaces like That would be my thing hey everybody it's the new TV It's a TV it's a TV it has the Apps you want that's what Dell is doing
29:30Tim Gettys:That's what Dell is doing it really that's what they said Did they bring back the dude you're getting a Dell kid yet? I don't know. Is it a Dell kid?
29:36Andy Cortez:Fucking old. I don't know about this. I will learn more about this Dell kid. You don't remember, dude, you're getting a Dell. And then he got busted for a pot and they fired him. That sucks, dude. He was fucking rad. That kid was fucking rad, all right? There he is, dude, you're getting a Dell. And he was, I mean, clearly he was smoking weed. I definitely don't like, I definitely don't like that the second thumbnail is Fox News. That's bad. That makes me go, what is the dude you did to Delkid feel about Palestine right now? Because I'm sure I don't agree. I'm sure I don't fucking agree.
30:08Tim Gettys:Oh, whatever happened to him. Okay.
30:09Andy Cortez:Yeah, but scroll down. Why is Fox reporting on it? If it doesn't end with he's a libtard, I'm not about it. All right? I'm not about it. Don't take the dude you're getting Delkid from me right now. Well, Greg, I'm going to learn more about the Delkid. But before that, I think the audience should learn a little bit about our sponsors. 34:49Tim Gettys:story number three in the ever-changing involving subnautica 2 storyline just when you think it's this one is great and this was a great update that i saw right before we jumped in here so this is a very long one this is from uh ethan gotch over at kotaku uh this all came out literally right before we came out here so this is some great report reporting that's happening really fast and furious uh judge orders subnautica 2 studio ceo to be reinstated and gives him control over early access release. Wow. When I read that headline, I was like, I didn't know you could do that. I didn't know you could tell somebody to be like, hey, actually, they need their job.
35:24Tim Gettys:Like, what do you fucking do
35:26Andy Cortez:as an employee as the rest of this guy walks in? You're like, I don't even fucking know.
35:30Tim Gettys:It's incredible. It sounds like wrestling. It's incredible. So it's a long one. Let's go through it really quick. A judge in the messy legal battle between the co-founders of Subnautica, developer Unknown Worlds, and publisher Crafton have ordered the latter to reinstate CEO Ted Gill and give him control over Subnautica 2's early access release plans. The decision comes nearly nine months after sudden firings and conflicting claims put one of Steam's most wishlisted games in the middle of a complex lawsuit. Quote, Judgment is entered in favor of Fortis, which represents the Unknown World's founders, on its Phase 1 claims, wrote Vice Chancellor Lori W.
36:10Will, for the decision handed down in the Delaware chicanery court on March 16th.
36:17Andy Cortez:Now you say that, that sounds even more fake.
36:20Tim Gettys:I've only heard chicanery once, and it was a better call song. It's also chancery, I think.
36:28You added a couple syllables in there, buddy. I talked chicanery, you know what I mean? How deep into that book was it? I didn't get more.
36:36Andy Cortez:It'll make you read better.
36:37Tim Gettys:I was very happy with myself. I said chicanery. I was like, I know that they crushed it. Everything's I'm a bad reader. I didn't know. Chance. We was a thing. Everybody craft on breached the EPA. If I start drinking, then it's going to be a chicanery. Every single sentence. Okay. Craft on breach the EPA by terminating the key employees without valid cause and by improperly seizing operational control of unknown worlds. As a result, the July 1st, 2025 board resolution that saw Gil and others fired from the company is, quote, declared ineffective to the extent it infringes on Gill's operational control rights.
37:17The judge has ordered Krafton not to impede the reinstated CEO's authority over the early access launch of Subnautica 2 and to restore his access to the Steam platform. Just as consequently, the judge extended the period within which the team can earn a$250 million payout under the terms of Unknown Worlds sale to Crafton. The co-founders, which includes Charlie Cleveland and Max McGuire, are now eligible to collect the bonus for performance of the studio up through September 15th, 2026, and potentially even to extend the period beyond that date. Pretextual justifications for firing Unknown Worlds leadership, the publisher had originally claimed gill and the other co-founders were fired for failing to get subnautica 2 ready for a timely launch it later switched its argument that the co-founders had unknowingly uh unknowingly been working on other projects and tried to steal unauthorized material materials prior to their firing the court rejected both claims you gotta sip the coffee because it's so real i know so deep in this one you're in the bag craft on's newly manufactured justifications for the terminations are pretextual reads the court's decision cleveland and mcguire had taken on limited roles but that was long known and accepted by craft on as for the data downloads the former employees were acting to protect the studio's work product amid craft on's takeover attempt They kept the data confidential and promptly returned it.
39:00Krafton acquired Unknown World in 2021 for a$500 million equity payout with up to$250 million in an additional earn-out for the co-founders if certain sales goals were met by the end of 2025. The earn-out formula is highly leveraged if Unknown World surpasses a revenue threshold of$69.8 million. dollars craft on must pay 3.12 dollars for each additional dollar of revenue generated up to the 250 million dollar cap the decision reads skip it ahead what remains to be seen is just when exactly subnautica 2 will release it or i would never do it never that would be
39:44Andy Cortez:i'm back in charge fuck you all we're working on this for a decade bring me back to court continuously going down there uh and whether it will sell well enough to hit that earn out threshold i will let you guys know that game will probably hit that hit that threshold that game is going to be huge uh that is just me saying that litigation from the lawsuit pertaining to damages from the firings remains pending the court will still have to decide as part of phase two what monetary damages if any have resulted from the entire chaotic affair quote craft on puts players at the heart of every decision, and that will never change the publication of Kotaku in an emailed statement.
40:22Andy Cortez:We'll fuck over the creators, but never the player. Over the past several months, Crafton and Unknown Worlds team have worked together tirelessly to strengthen the game and prepare it for an early access release with a continued focus on delivering the best possible experience for the Subnautica community. We look forward to pushing out the newly updated version as soon as possible. It continued, while we respectfully disagree with the day's ruling we are evaluating our options as we determine our path forward today's ruling does not resolve the former executive's claim for damages or an earn out to uh related to subnautica 2 with further litigation pending in the meantime craft on immediately focus uh uh immediate focus uh remains unchanged delivering the best possible game to subnautica fans uh what's the chat gbt thing just fucking clowns is what it is yeah You're talking about over on Kotaku.
41:13Andy Cortez:Zach has the article and then a BSE quote tweeted it with, this is crazy. And it's all these clips from the actual filings, right? Meanwhile, Kim, who's over at Crafton. Meanwhile, Kim sought chat GPT's counsel on how to proceed if Crafton failed to reach a deal with unknown worlds on the earnout. The AI chatbot prepared a, quote, response strategy to a no-deal scenario, which Kim shared with Yoon. The strategy included a pressure and leverage package and an implementation roadmap by scenario. then there's another one right at chat gpt suggestion kim forrest an internal task force formed an internal task force dubbed project x the task force mandate was to either negotiate a deal on the earn out or take or execute a takeover of unknown worlds over the next month crafted followed most of chat gpt's recommendations we are fucked idiots fucking morons i hope i hope they have to pay that 250 million dollars it's definitely one of those where like we're not there We don't know the full story.
42:10Andy Cortez:X, Y, and Z. I, I stands with what I've read and how this whole, I stand with the courts. Good job. Give it back to the people, the creators, whatever the fuck crafting was up to, whatever the fuck they were trying to do here. And what the shit, the chicanery they were trying to pull, right? Fuck them. Like, yeah, go. Barrett has this up for PC gaming. Crafted CEO allegedly asked chat GPT to help him find a way out of the paying the Subnautica to developers their bonuses because he wanted to avoid the quote unquote professional embarrassment of being seen as quote unquote a pushover. Congratulations!
42:43Andy Cortez:This embarrassment is much worse of now the fact you asked a goddamn robot how to do all this. That is often wrong and in this case was also wrong. Incredible stuff. Plug it into my Xbox. That's what I want. Plug it all into my Xbox so it can tell me fucking what's going on. And tell it
43:02Tim Gettys:how to craft a sword in Minecraft. uh yeah this is just a hilarious and i'm very i'm very happy that it came down like this because i feel like a lot of the times we see the court rulings and they're very rarely this cut and dry right like it is usually like oh well this person did this and it's like kind of a muddied situation where we're like talking through it all this is just very clearly like no fuck you craft on you
43:22Andy Cortez:try to dodge you don't want to pay him you didn't want to pay him what they were fucking worth and
43:25Tim Gettys:now you got fucked good yeah exactly and even even to the the charge of them saying like oh they took the confidential uh documents which i think usually ends up in a lot of these court cases to be like okay like that is the technicality that they can get get them get them on but no it's like oh no they they took it but they also just held it for the right reasons yeah so i appreciated that the the chicanery court over here uh they said that that was uh that that was okay to do but yeah no i'm sure this is not done again as they said this is gonna be a phase two they're gonna continue to litigate and figure this out and will this game ever come out in a timely manner we will see but I mean I'm sure he and also the rest of the team they want that 250 million dollars devs go get paid you deserve it this game is going to be huge
44:03Andy Cortez:crafted fuck you for fucking people
44:05Tim Gettys:fuck you craft on let's go
44:07Andy Cortez:you got to appreciate how Budweiser puts the little crown inside their tab I love that yeah they don't cut corners over there they do not luckily they're all American owned
44:15Tim Gettys:are they not
44:18Andy Cortez:they sold out to Embev I didn't know that probably a long time ago shit that's crazy story number for some also i guess that last word was kind of good news is not good news uh warner brothers montreal reportedly hit with staff cuts some sophie and mick evaway over at game industry.biz several warner brothers montreal developers are reporting that they have been laid off while there's been no formal confirmation of the cuts as yet several former wb developers from across all disciplines have announced on linkedin that they are now looking for work most report they finished on friday the 13th of march if true it aligns with comments made by netflix ceo ted sarandos who recently said the deal under the paramount outbid uh which sorry under which paramount outbid his firm for control of warner brothers including its storied gaming division would be quote depending dependent on a lot of cost cutting uh this is uh thanks to games industry dot biz uh warner brothers has of course been struggling with its games industry for some time in a 2025 q1 earnings report the company reported a 48 decrease in games revenue due to no new releases the followed that followed the cancellation of a planned expansion for hogwarts legacy layoffs of rocks layoffs at rock setty after suicide squad flopped and the cancellation of Monolith Productions' Warner Woman game and the shutdown of Brawler Multiverses.
45:48In its most recent earnings report, Warner Bros. Discovery said 2025 has a significant year, but made little mention of its gaming business beyond claims that it's, quote, rebuilding its video game pipeline following its acquisition by Paramount Skydance. Its full studio segment, which includes gaming, saw revenue tumble 14 % year on year. we've reached out to WB Games for comments.
46:13Andy Cortez:A big part of rebuilding the pipeline is just destroying, raising, trashing the old pipeline. Yeah. To where you get down, we're just making Hogwarts. We have our, we have the Hogwarts, we got our DC, we got Lego. Those are our big tent poles, right? And then everything else just fucking gone. Yep. Just gone. Yeah. I am very interested in the claim over here. I mean, it makes sense. I was thinking the same thing of the, they're about to be bought out by Paramount, right?
46:40Tim Gettys:so it's like what is how what the connection is there like was this already something that was in the works for a while or what is going on here i don't necessarily fully believe that it's just because they got bought up by paramount because it's still in the in works and everything but i also just know that warner brothers does not know what the fuck they're doing with their gaming division like 100 on top of that obvious and then you think that this is the bad like wait a year from now wait till paramount gets yeah paramount gets in there it's all fuck city like you are closing down half of these studios if even that.
47:11Tim Gettys:They might just shut it all down and they might just put in Paramount people. They don't know what the fuck they're doing over there. It's sad. It's scary and it's sad because Arkham is there.
47:17Andy Cortez:Can I get bold with you? Yeah, tell me. Say something you're not going to want to hear. If I was to buy Warner Brothers tomorrow and throw down my money, I think closing all the studios is the right move. I think if you aren't committed and you don't have a team and you don't have a leader, there's no sense stringing all these developers along to make middling games yeah and i think that again i know there has been lots of misses but i will say lots of hits with the marvel game strategy but i still say that's the way to go where you go guess what everybody we are getting out of owning developers it just doesn't make financial sense we have to keep all these people on for years projects get canceled and instead go we know that we have a war chest yeah of ip here and again i'm speaking from DC Comics, but Warner Brothers, toss in Harry Potter, toss in Lego, toss in everything Warner Brothers has, including their movies, yada, yada, yada.
48:10Andy Cortez:We are picking Person X to lead and be the CEO of the new WB Games, and that means that they are then building a team that is then going out to developers, big and small, to find the right places, the right developers. Exactly, it's Disney, it's Marvel. It's exactly, get in there and do it and work with your Mike Bithels. Work with your, again, it would break my heart to cut loose rock steady, but I mean like work with a studio like that, maybe even keep one around or whatever. I don't know if that makes sense, but yeah, it's that idea of like, we know that there's talented studios out there, but when you get into this of like rock steady and WB owning them, and it's like, well,
48:47Tim Gettys:I agree with you, especially when it comes to like WB Montreal, right? Like, but like when I think about rock steady, that still has, that's a name. That's a name. People know they can, they continuously connect to Arkham with rock steady. and if Rocksteady were to create an Arkham game, specifically that combo, that's a hit right there. And also Avalanche. Avalanche? Avalanche. Avalanche. I always mix that one up. It's Avalanche Software. Okay, gotcha. Yeah, Avalanche with Harry Potter. I mean, those two, you would keep. Everything else, it's like, yeah, you have to cut or you have to figure out some type of identity really fast.
49:15Tim Gettys:But yeah, I'm exactly, especially after having a conversation with Blessing on Friday about Avatar, the Avatar fighting game. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And seeing what, I guess, connection there, Paramount, what they were able to do with that IP, send it over to a new studio that knows what the fuck they're doing, that is able to quickly, very fast, take an IP that's beloved and make something very special that the audience and also the people around fighting games are excited about. Like, that's what you got to be doing more of. Like, that is the blueprint right there. And I just don't, you need someone nimble, you need someone fast, you need someone that understands video games.
49:44Tim Gettys:And I don't have any faith in Warner Brothers right now for gaming. I have zero faith with what Skydance did with gaming and what they've been doing, right?
49:52Andy Cortez:So now we're - You're not excited for this Captain America Blanche and Black Panther game.
49:56Tim Gettys:Whatever it is, like, they're gonna, what's gonna happen, is that Paramount's going to come in. They're going to cut Warner Brothers Montreal. They're going to do exactly probably what I just said. They're probably going to keep two of them on. And they're just going to take the Skydance people and put them at the top of the Warner Brothers thing. And they're not going to know what the fuck they're doing. And then somehow a miracle like the Avatar game sneaks through. Somehow, you know, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles last Ronin apparently is happening, right? Yeah, apparently. Apparently, we'll see.
50:19Andy Cortez:Poe hit me up. If you're new around here, my best friend from high school who, of course, is a professor at a college. He's an adult. He plays video games here and there. Yeah, he sent me a thing a couple weeks ago. I was like, is this real? And it was some whatever Instagram account that was talking about it. And I was like, well, yeah, but we haven't heard anything in three years or whatever. Four years, two years, whatever. I forgot about NetherRealm. Oh, that's Vaporware. You keep running there. Yeah, of course, of course. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
50:44Tim Gettys:We love you, Ed Boone. We will see what happens there. But, Greg, we got some bad news. Let's get some good news. Okay, good news. Let's get some good news really quick before we go over to the We News. In an industry beset by layoffs and crunch, Japanese publisher Atlas is raising salaries and working to reduce fixed overtime.
51:07Andy Cortez:Getting a very important phone call, I assume. What's up, everybody? It's Andy Cortez, live on Kind of Funny Games Daily. Hello, Andy. Hello, Greg. Hey, lots of big news coming out in the games industry right now. Obviously, lots of huge stuff happening left and right. However there is DLC out now for the king Is watching everybody's favorite 2025 New DLC No sorry No Roger didn't do his job it's not in We do it anymore Okay gotcha Love the work guys Thank you You don't sound that sick Yeah you sound pretty good
51:47Tim Gettys:He interrupts the show Could have just wanted the doc and just added it
51:51Andy Cortez:you know what I mean but he's gonna do I don't know where a duck is because he's one of those type yeah yeah there's still like Mike's where I pin everything to the channel I gotta fucking pin notes to their shirts when they go out like he's here to see this game let him in you know he's with us uh yesterday we learned of layoffs at Warner Brothers Montreal the latest in an unbearably long list of bad games industry news in recent months today for a change we have positive bit of industry news this time coming from japanese publisher atlas via automaton we've taken a look at atlas atlas's latest press release which focuses on efforts to quote foster the creativity and improve the productivity of each and every employee the persona developer has been enjoying a fair amount of success in recent years and following giants like sega and capcom a bit more of that money will begin to trickle down to the employees doing the hard work uh skipping over to the actual meat of it the quote base salary increase will raise the starting salary for new graduates from 300 000 yen to 330 000 yen with the average annual income which which full-time and contract employees get increasing by 15 as well moreover fixed overtime hours are going down from 30 to 20 which is quite substantial reduction so that's exciting yeah it's nice to have go from an awful fucking news story to something good happening.
53:16Again, someone
53:16Andy Cortez:actually taking care of their developers, rewarding them for their hard work. What a nice thing rather than, hey, great job with Battlefield 6. You're all fucking laid off. AI will replace you now. We don't need you AIs here. If EA were to foster their developers instead of laying them off, that would be big news. If I was looking for something smaller, say the tiniest news I need to know about, where would I go? You'd go to our last segment, the We News channel where we share all the tiny news items you need to know about got a lot of wee news
53:46Tim Gettys:everybody do we yeah we do uh i never know when it's a joke or not you know pokemon pocopia update coming bringing improvements and bug fixes uh you can go over to ign uh tom phillips is a great write-up uh breaking down all the little bug fixes so if you've been walking into something and you're like oh my god is this me or is this the game check it out it might be the game from
54:05Andy Cortez:pocket remember we're talking about pokemon pocopia right after this i'm very very excited for this episode of course we have roger finally coming in to talk about it of course we have me joey coming to talk about where we've been but we also have jenny from wholesome games coming in who's been playing it now awesome i'm very excited to talk about it brought my switch from pocket pocket gamer pocket pocket gamer dot biz meta planning layoffs that could affect 20 of workforce so keep a lookout for that uh slay the spire 2 has sold over 3 million copies so far shout out to them yeah incredible numbers for them hell yeah uh very very excited to check that out if only any of us cared about that kind of game yeah yeah for sure yeah no one no one likes card games at all here nope terrible uh via shinobi on blue sky lego batman the legacy of the dark knight now launching a week earlier on may 22nd 22nd hell yeah via the playstation blog upgraded pssr rolling out to silent hill f monster hunter wilds uh final fantasy 7 rebirth and crimson desert and more and talking about ps5 pro cyberpunk is getting a ps5 pro update in the near future that's from shinobi from bs from noble on bs he points out that sonic racing crossworld's free character updates are revealed we get red from april 26 you know red no angry bird
55:22Tim Gettys:goro majiba captain red's the angry bird yeah he's the angry bird he's the angry bird
55:29Andy Cortez:Why would you put that in there? Oh, he's got legs? Weird. I always remember him just being like... Well, no, this is like the movie version of him. Jason Bateman. There's a movie? Yeah, it's two. Jason Bateman's in it? Yeah, he's Jason Bateman. How do we feel about Jason Bateman? I like him. I like him. No. He's a fun actor. I obviously loved him in Teen Wolf, too. Of course. Obviously, I loved him in Hogan's Family. Hitchcock. I don't remember him from that. Okay. So that was, that was a Will Smith, Charlize Theron joint. All right. But of course, Ozark, he was great in, you know what I mean?
56:05Andy Cortez:Stranger, he was great in. And now we started watching DTF, St. Louis. Yeah. You know, I like it there too. But then he's also in, it's a weird juxtaposition of him talking about fucking. And then he's also in Zootopia and Ben loves Zootopia. So we're watching that. But it's, I also remember Arrested Development, loved him in Arrested Development. But then if you remember during that Arrested Development press tour, when they came back and the old, the mom, who's the older woman started talking about how bad Jeffrey was on set and then they got in a big fight and Jason tried to shut it down awkwardly I've never forgiven him for that so then it's kind of like was that a window into the real Jason Bateman and do I need to be worried about liking Jason Bateman because I can't see him the same once he shut her down yeah that was DTF is it good?
56:42Andy Cortez:yeah I'm enjoying it we're only one episode in but yeah that's good hell yeah he's got David Harbour in it too which we already know yeah exactly I listened to that entire album yo where's the fucking bag of dildos I listened to that from the OG story I keep my anger towards Jeffrey Tambor. Of course. Yeah. Don't get me wrong. Who went to my high school. Oh. Weirdly enough. Just walked by it. Same classes, you right? Yeah. Same graduating year. Yep. Goral Majima, Captain Majima, April 2026 and Arl, May 2026. I don't know what the fuck Arl is. It looks like it's Arl, bro. I got Arl. We're just making shit up, bro.
57:15Tim Gettys:I don't know what's going on there. From Gamatsu, Fate slash Extra Record. Delayed to an unannounced date and publisher is changed from Bandai Namco. So Bandai Namco will not be publishing that game and they don't have a release date for that one so that's a weird one shout out to that one uh this is from help from greg yeah that's right i put this into the very
57:32Andy Cortez:end there while we've been live of course uh mckenna grace you all know her from ghostbusters went to the oscars and became the first person ever to open pokemon cards on the red carpet and in her seat but if you scroll down barrett if you can show it should have linked directly to it in the comments sorry click on the comments i put up a comment on this post telling her to come rip packs and talk Ghostbusters on kind of funny vids. Click the comment button. It's not going to let me because I'm not logged in. Got it. Okay. Well, everybody go there. Since you follow me on Instagram, GameOverGreggy, go there, click on that, and then not only heart it because everybody's hearting it on my Instagram, but leave a comment and be like, oh, you totally should because she will.
58:08Andy Cortez:McKenna Grace, a real one. All right. Because when I put up the photos for Afterlife of baby Benny there, and I mean, like he was out like he was like five weeks old when we took him to Afterlife, right? She commented on that. And so we've run in the same circle. She does the Ghostbuster fan events all the time. She's hanging out with the Yes Have Some podcast people. I've done the thing where I've emailed the manager before, but clearly the way I need to break in is through traditional social media.
58:31Tim Gettys:Yeah, I'm sure the manager would love that. Fuck you.
58:35Andy Cortez:They'll send to this club with me, three beers down, 10.58.
58:39Tim Gettys:I gotta go on this random podcast, and that is the end of Ween News. Incredible stuff. And I just, like, you can just say anybody's from Ghostbusters. I'd fucking believe you. You know what I mean? Like, what do you mean
58:49Andy Cortez:anybody she's the star of the last two movies she's phoebe spangler what she's phoebe spangler the movies are revolve around her bro we got a bunch of super chats let's get through them uh immersion fragrances said space time dave says why is ben drinking then says greg well you sound like the drunk one not me i sound right as rain don't bring up garock in the chat i got things to say immersion fragrances says had an emergency appendectomy yesterday and i'm going to be on bed rest for the next two weeks. Thanks in advance for keeping me entertained all day. Shout out to you. Hope you're feeling better.
59:23Andy Cortez:Hope you're feeling better. Got serious there. You threw it a serious time. Melodic Quest Super Chats 360 and it says, chug those beards, you coward! I chugged one already. Then I had a second one. Now I'm on Rogers. Let me check. Oh no. You brought these from home? No, I went to the liquor store. We have so many beers. About at 9.30. Yeah, but they're not Steve Weisers. You know what I mean? I'm going to be authentic to the bit here. You know what I mean? I got to have that. And don't bring up what he was drinking Miller Lite at the end of it. I'm aware. Steve Weisers, Budweiser is the king of beer.
59:58Cameron asks in Super Chats about us at PAX East. We doing anything there?
1:00:01Andy Cortez:No, we're not doing anything at PAX East unless they decide to send us there. I would love to go. Anybody? Scorpion Brew? What games do you think that are showing at PAX East you can go host the panel for? Also, is it PAX East soon? I mean, Splinter Cell? Where's Splinter Cell? the well-known splinter cell panel is coming up uh scorpion shout out to you hopefully can get you that uh great pick me up today cody super chatting and said shout out to my best friend of nearly 19 years bandit spending our last few hours together relaxing with each other before he crosses the rainbow happy to experience another nice and sunny day you are a good dog man shout out to you both that's so beautiful uh i'm just a billy super doesn't says random but shout out to Greg for knowing about LaRussell.
1:00:43Andy Cortez:Oh, LaRussell's awesome. Do you really not? Oh, are you serious? I don't. Maybe I do know. He's a Bay Area rapper. He is blowing up right now. He did the Super Bowl pre-show. This is legit one of those times I can turn you on to something. I feel bad, but I don't know. I'm from the Bay. That's Northern Calf. Oh, no, I have seen this guy. He's been blowing up. He did the video. I blew up in my backyard. In Daily City. I just didn't know his name. I didn't know this. Hell yeah. That was really cool. One of my dreams is to get him to come in and wrap my entrance to just really piss off to him.
1:01:19Tim Gettys:Oh, that'd be so fucking funny.
1:01:20Andy Cortez:Because I'll just keep saying I'm from the back. You know what I mean?
1:01:21Tim Gettys:All right. We got a bunch more Super Chats. I'm going to do like three or four more really quick. Andrew Button just bought myself a PS5 Pro. Thank you, Tax Return. Very excited to see Crimson Desert reviews this week. Happy 316, boys. Sean Spinger says, why can't we get good investing in video game companies like kfgd investing in small indie companies becoming a developer also that's a great question yeah i mean the fact of the matter is
1:01:47Andy Cortez:that kind of funny games daily or kind of funny i should say is happy making a little bit of profit and so we could take that little bit of profit and hope for a bigger profit but we're like
1:01:55Tim Gettys:we don't want that we don't want to worry about that no thank you uh and we also we like supporting devs the way we can by giving them you know oh sure but i mean like it's a conversation over
1:02:05Andy Cortez:the last 11 years it's come up a few different times like hey it was a cool game what if we got in development what if we did this a lot of indie development you know we hear these budgets and you think oh they need a million dollars they need five hundred thousand dollars they really don't it really is do you have 20 30 50 and it's like yeah we could but then if something it's what i always talk about like um to be clear and be serious for a second forget about the years like it is the idea that like you know every decision that tim nick and i make is about you Roger it's about you Barrett it's about Kevin it's about like how do we make this sustainable and keep it rolling and so we are not at a place where I want to roll the dice and gamble on well if this video game does huge great but if it tanks then we're done oof you know we're struggling to the point we can't order pizzas or not even struggling but making it by that if one of the litany of unforeseen things that pop up in our lives all the fucking time happens like I'm just not going to worry about that well if you ever invest in Splinter Cell maybe you can help with that but why wouldn't I do it in a profitable video game.
1:03:01Andy Cortez:A video game people want. Blacklist made money. They made a show about that and nobody ever came out to watch it. You know what I mean? I did and it was great and you guys fucked up by not watching them. There will be one more season and they will cancel it. AI co-pilot was probably in the works for a while. Do you think Phil was blocking it and he was anti-AI so he was pushed out? I don't think so. I think that's... You think it was pushed out because he was... No. I think this is probably a... On the list of reasons that like Phil's, I probably Phil wanted to retire. Yeah. You know what I mean?
1:03:37Andy Cortez:It does sound like he actually wanted out. And I'd imagine it was the thing of like, cool. I see the writing on the wall here of where we're going. Okay. And then we have two more. Samson XP says late B day tax spent the weekend playing magic and Pokemon. Can't wait for birthday tax. Wait, wait to birthday tax for my cat. Misty on Greg's birthday. Again, next. Hell yeah. Happy birthday. Misty. and then a final one from mental gear gaming yo kf i know you guys get this all the time but it's my first time in sf starting out walking journey on a walking journey at the nintendo store but any other suggestions can i can come to mind really quick oh my god well i mean we've talked about this there's lots of greg ways about this even though they're probably hard to find but of course i would say yeah okay nintendo store for real do that uh then of course uh square pie guys on beach street not the soma location because that's kind of not a great area beach streets down in Guillardelli Square.
1:04:29Andy Cortez:Gorgeous. You have the bay there. Catch an Alcatraz cruise. You don't have to go to the island. I don't have to book that way out, but do that. Go under the bridge. Have a great time there. Ocean Beach is always lovely. It's going to be colder than you think. While you're out there, go to Hookfish Dynamite. Dynamite Pokey Burritos. That's what you want. Get an Antetown Coffee. Get the Antetown Breakfast Sandwich. A lot of things I'll tell you is about eating because I'm fat. You could walk Ocean Beach there on the wall. Oh, the zoo's there. It's not great. It's not a great zoo, but it's there and it's awesome.
1:04:55Andy Cortez:and gary wood is there all the time so you can find him yeah you'll find him uh andy said in the chat pie punks japan town pie punks yes of course a great another great uh pizza place down and then yeah just exploring ramen yeah exploring japan town as well yeah uh also yeah like check out the the castro area uh a lot of uh great places to drink i was trying to roger did we ever take you to like the the like um martinis that's the place that i'm trying now uh great It's a great martini place, but it's also live karaoke. Right off market, right? Yeah. Yeah, with a person playing piano, so that's always a fun vibe.
1:05:29And then, yeah, Ocean Beach, actually probably with the heat wave that we're about to have. It's actually probably going to be pretty nice, and I always recommend checking out the bathhouses out there. Oh, yeah. It's a future bathhouse. San Francisco history. Yeah. Of course, don't get lost in the parks.
1:05:42Andy Cortez:Do that. If you have a car, the time, your woods is lovely. Beautiful. Shout out to that. Shout out to everybody who's doing work right now on this McKenna Grace Instagram post. Thank you so much. Yeah, I was there. I see you. You were the first one I saw. You're usually my enemy today. You're my friend. It's because of the beers, bro. Finish that. Kill it. I spit in it. Drink it. Yeah! Roger from the bank. Roll call.
1:06:05Tim Gettys:I hate it. Missing link. Oh, oh, oh. You're wrong, by the way. We're in your wrong now. Okay. It says Jason Sudeikis.
1:06:15Andy Cortez:What? What a great transition. We're in your wrong now.
1:06:20Tim Gettys:I'm sorry. I really wanted to read this one. Jason Sudeikis plays Red. The Angry Birds movie's not Jason Bateman. Okay, fair. So I was just completely off of that one. But I mean, you know, Jason, Jason. You know what I mean? You know the vibes, everybody.
1:06:32Andy Cortez:Years and years and years and years and years and years and years ago, Mike Drucker, after he left IGN, went and wrote for the ESPYs, I want to say. Okay. And he ran into Jason Sudeikis there. And he mentioned that he's been from IGN. And he's like, oh, my God. Tell them how much I love their Uncharted review. And it was me.
1:06:48Tim Gettys:Whoa. Shout out. Kebab says Arl is the lead girl from the Puyo Puyo franchise
1:06:53Andy Cortez:okay first off Puyo Puyo doesn't need a lead girl it's just fucking a puzzle game
1:06:58Tim Gettys:I've been saying this for years man it's just such a weak video game comparatively to Tetris you cannot say Puyo Puyo ex Tetris fuck that bro that's like Tetris ex Tress like fuck that you know what I mean clearly one is superior on the other side of it though does Tetris need a mascot Tetris doesn't need it it's the T block yeah or the S block but how do we make the T block a cute anime character. I'm sure that exists.
1:07:23Andy Cortez:I'll go to Pornhub right now. I'll find you to see you. Corey Cudney says, a little cool missed Wii news. Jeff Kaplan did an unannounced 11-hour stream playing the game they just announced Legend of California over the weekend, testing bugs and answering questions. So yeah, I did see a news article there. I thought that was like old, so that actually makes a lot of sense.
1:07:39Tim Gettys:So thank you, Corey Cudney. Greg, it's been a great episode. We're a little drunk, and we're going to roll right into... You can't be a little drunk. You're too sick.
