In short
The hosts trade stories about July 4th and Labor Day—fireworks vs drone light shows, partying/drug use, and food/music culture—then pivot to ads for Home Depot Labor Day appliance deals.
Guests
Chris and Jason Stewart (co-hosts of How Long Gone). No outside guests appear; they mainly discuss events involving friends/listeners (e.g., “Jessica from Squirrel” in Pasadena).
Key claims
Fireworks injuries (especially lost fingers) are increasing each year; social media may amplify reporting. Drone shows are “logo-only” and politically themed (police/firefighter logos drew boos). The Rose Bowl drone show lasted ~9 minutes with no crescendo. “Blue Sky” is joked as a cause of injuries. Music culture is cyclical; club tracks from the late 2000s still work better than newer music.
Notable examples
Pasadena Rose Bowl drone show featuring Foodie Land/EatsCon logos, police/fire department badges, and a “boos” moment. A “Black Cat” firework brand is referenced. Food stops include No Kings BBQ (ice pie), Chopped-style chicken Caesar wraps, and Los Tacos (efficient taco ordering).

0:47Jason Stewart:tasty little riff how long gone how long gone back with the tasty riff uh this sunday sunday sunday it's uh scorching here in New York City, them jeans, you've still got all your fingers and extremities after the 4th of July holiday. I just want to check in. Some people aren't as lucky. You know, it seems like we were talking on the last episode about the prediction of the fall of fireworks and the imminent replacement of them by the drone technology. And I think the amount of lost fingers has really grown exponentially year over year every 4th of July. I don't know who's to blame. Is it Galaxy Gas?
1:30Jason Stewart:Is it something more sinister? But I feel like it was a thing that happened every once in a while. And you'd be like, damn, that's crazy. And now it's a thing that people mention a lot. Every 4th of July, a rapper is on a four-wheeler with a piece of dynamite, and he loses his left finger. And I don't know. I'm not going to say Galaxy Gas in particular, but I do think that drugs and alcohol, being under the influence, makes you obviously think you're invincible and the human body is no match for a firework if lit and left to its own devices. I think, you know, as I've been studying this phenomenon every year.
2:09Jason Stewart:Sure, yeah, of course. As you're pouring over the reporting, you've come to some conclusions. It's like a feelings thing. I just, I notice patterns in society that other people don't. That's sort of my strong suit. uh and it seems like like different cultures you know like the foos my foos gone wild they're more likely to be on a sick one and then the firework explodes in their hand or they don't have enough time to run away and then white people their version of it their flavor of it is they want to light the firework run away accidentally knock the firework over on its side and then that firework I mean we laugh and joke but it I think some like an eight-year-old kid just got like hit by a firework that just like oops it fell over hey look I don't think it's funny I think it's the reality of the sad world we live in and our decaying society uh but I do think that fireworks are more dangerous I mean when we were kids or you know whatever young young adults I mean I was holding bottle rockets in my teeth and letting them go off it was it was just you know everybody who's doing dumb shit all the time and it did seem like there's less injury my question to you is do you think it's possibly because there's less places to report minor injuries now we see every little thing that happens because of the world wide web and the social media's hold society has been ugly this whole time we just didn't have a mirror exactly to see ourselves there we go good point there we go so i i'm just for anybody for anybody who lost a finger i blame blue sky yeah fireworks.bluesky.org I blame Blue Sky and for anybody that lost a finger, even a thumb or a pinky, we're praying for you, of course, and hopefully they can at least find it and reattach it.
3:56If not, hopefully we'll get some disability benefits.
3:59Jason Stewart:We need to account some of that taxpayer money for those of us who have lost a limb in battle. But I feel like the people who, you know, when you You meet a guy who's like, I'm an alligator guy, like a Lana Del Rey husband kind of guy. I'm a shark guy. You deserve it. I've got a chunk taken out of my right lat muscle. There's a big old... They wear that as a point of pride almost. You know what I mean? If you really be in the space, if you own a firework store on the Georgia-South Carolina border, then sure, you should be missing at least one finger. If you're a regular person living in the suburbs, I don't think that is...
4:37I think the odds, I just don't think that we should see as many as we do. That's all I'm saying.
4:43Jason Stewart:It's kind of like, you know, it's the cauliflower ear. It is. To our Brazilian jiu-jitsu fighters. It's like, oh, you're really into like popping off and you have all of your digits? You ain't really about that. No, it's honestly true. You ain't really about that. How many bodies you got? Exactly. If a skateboarder had never broken a bone, it's like, all right, we're obviously not going big enough. We got body count. We got digit count. We got all of this. The reason I'm bringing this up is because you sent me an unsolicited photo of an unnamed friend of the show holding a substantial piece of fire.
5:18I would call it dynamite if I had to classify it.
5:21Jason Stewart:It was more M800 than M80, I would say. It looked like if you were to ask AI to draw a stick of dynamite, pretty much that's what it was. It was giving Wile E. Coyote is what it was giving. A red cylindrical tube with a fuse coming out of it. I would have drawn it that way. I don't want to incriminate any tattooed small business owners. We have several listening, but I do want to understand, did you witness this M800 being shot off, or were you merely there for the photo before the storm? I was only there for the photo, I got to be honest. But I was around, and I saw a lot of other similar fireworks popping off.
6:00Okay, now did you, I don't want to incriminate you either, but did you yourself light any or were you just taking part?
6:07Jason Stewart:I've never had an interest in lighting fireworks. I like to watch other people do it. I wish I could say the same. I love Blasinoff. Really? Oh, getting a – Bro, if you grew up in the South because they were sort of illegal in Georgia but every state around you sold them legally, you would always stop and cop a couple hundred black cats just for general mayhem. Just a little light work. Just some light. It's like that in California except you don't have to go out of state to just go out of county. I drive to where I go get pho and they got the fucking screaming memes. They got the Husker Do's, Husker Domes.
6:47Jason Stewart:They got all of them. The Black Cat logo is one of the most iconic logos in American history, I would say. Of course. A great one. I'd be lying if I didn't say I have it tatted on my chest, bro. I was going to say. I didn't want to bring that up either. that's why you wear a certain kind of tank top because it covers the black cat that was your infantry when you were in the army for two years after high school I but you you texted our group chat with David Cho very late in the I guess it was still morning but you were saying that you got turnt as fuck to celebrate America's birthday is that correct I did get turnt as fuck to celebrate something I guess okay so you what were you sipping on what were you snorting on what was the july 4th cocktail did you do some of that special red white and blue cocaine that i've seen being passed around or is this what did you do i did not do any red white and blue cocaine let's see here um after i finished eating a slice of my fuck ice apple pie uh at the no kings barbecue i had so you went to the no kings barbecue and you i saw that the pie the fuck ice pie was not a la mode is that because you didn't want to fuck up the artwork with a scoop of ice cream or do you prefer it wrong?
8:04Jason Stewart:It's a little bit of Hollywood movie magic. I will. Okay. Once we get the shot, we had a little McConnell's plopped on there afterwards. Don't worry. Okay. Okay. And also speaking of McConnell's, they're sending me the Seize Candy McConnell's collab. Multiple pints are coming to the house, Chris. It's best that you're not in town for that. Quick question. Quick question. Did you ever get your Benson Boone crumbles? Thankfully, I did not receive my Benson Boone crumbles because I would have crumbled them into the trash ceremoniously. I'm so pissed. Someone from the crumble team emailed me and I said, you know what?
8:39Jason Stewart, them jeans, co-host of How I'm Gone would love the Benson Boone crumble cookies because we could have reviewed them right here. Anyway.
8:46Jason Stewart:And also lastly, and then we'll move on. I saw a GQ article, why I believe in Benson Boone and why you should too. I didn't click on that. I saw that. I think that it is like any movement, there will be resistance to that movement. You know what I mean? The ban Benson Boone, the ban Renee Rapp, we're not going to be able to make those kind of statements without facing some opposition. It's true. It's true. Back to your 4th of July. Back to your 4th of July. We've talked enough about Benson Boone. I love the devil's advocate. Okay, back to my fourth. Went to a friend of the show, Jessica, from Squirrel.
9:26Jason Stewart:She lives right by the Rose Bowl. Oh, okay, so the Jam Baron's got a nice little crib. The Jam Baron has a nice little crib. Actually, Carolyn and I went to the open house for it a few years ago and admired the charm of it. I'm glad that it landed with a friend. Okay, how much did it go for? If you don't mind me asking, we can bleep it out. I don't know. I don't know. Okay. It's in the twos. It's not in the threes. Got it, got it. Pool? Pool? No pool? Pool. Nice. Okay. Alright, so you're at Jessica from Squirrel's House, and you sent me a view of the drone light show above the Rose Bowl, correct?
9:56Jason Stewart:Well, first of all, I thought it was going to be... We went to dinner at this place called Budanoki. It's like a Japanese spot that's literally right next door to Squirrel. It was okay. But I thought that there was going to be like, oh, we're going to the Rose Bowl firework show. It's going to be a fiesta. We're going to get turned up. My brother invited me, and I didn't... I chose not to ask any further questions. And I was like, oh, you know, we joked around on the pod about, you know, I'm able to or I'm not able to enjoy the patriotic holiday of 4th of July without a little ecstasy, you know.
10:32Jason Stewart:So, you know, I pulled out my blue Punisher. Okay, okay. Ripped off one sixteenth of it. Just a little, you know, a very small whisper of that. Popped in the Uber. went over to the party and there were let's call it three adults there and four kids okay so you okay all wonderful people what time did you tear off a corner of your punisher skull ecstasy right before we left 7 30 okay okay so you you get to uh historic pasadena and are you feeling some tingles in your tj tummy it was it was such a small amount that it didn't really do that much to me but it it did put me in a happier more jovial mood in general like if you if you're for a person like me the operating power and energy and strength is sub-zero so it just kind of brings me up to the regular level of a of a jovial socially not awkward person so what was i'm not an i'm not awkward what was the spread at jessica's was it was it a pretty substantial even though you'd already eaten or was it mostly like a chips and guac?
11:46Jason Stewart:The spread had been spread out. They were like doing a pool party all day long kind of vibe and then this was sort of the, you know, send it off. It was a day party. You went to watch the drones and what did the – Watch the drones. Watch the drones, my favorite album. What did the drone – what formation did the drones get in? No Beyonce. Okay, so we were there. I was hanging out with these kids and the kids were like very cool kids. I think the mom... But actual children. Yeah, you know, sub 10 years old. Okay, I got it, got it, got it. I believe the parents, or at least the mom, I don't want to name any names, but...
12:23Can you bleep it out?
12:23Jason Stewart:...is a listener of the pod. Oh, okay. It's not someone other people know. It's someone we might know. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, got it, got it. Friends of friends. Sure. But, you know, I don't know. I'm talking about getting fucked up and shit. I don't want to spread people's names out. I'm the only person who's partaking. Because you did leave some ecstasy on the ground in hopes that one of the kids would pick it up. Jude Law style. Look, I know it was the 4th of July, but I was acting more like the Easter Bunny and just hiding little tidbits all over that backyard. Hey, little buddy, why don't you come over here?
12:55Yeah, you would plant some jam on toast and then, oops.
13:00Jason Stewart:How come my jam's all blue? My jam looks racist. I just wanted to be clear that I'm the only person in this whole scenario that is doing all of this. I think it's very clear that you are the fuck up in most situations. So I don't think that's up for debate. And I shouldn't be talking about it on my large platform right now. But here we go. You sound like Joe Budden talking about the Diddy Conspiracies. They said, our platform's too big to talk about these. What an amazing defense and excuse. CNN, that's fine. But my Patreon. My Patreon? All right. So you're the only person. You're the only person off your face.
13:42no cap this is a service i use all the time jason because you know i'm not like you i'm not super handy i don't have a toolbox thank god there's task rabbit so when i need some of my you know art hung or something put together maybe you know some shelving units or whatever it may be i always call task rabbit and a nice young person with a backpack stocked with tools and other useful items shows up and takes care of any problem i have and the best part is i can search for them based on cost, skillset, availability, client reviews. So I know who's showing up. I know they're going to do a good job and I know I'm not going to have to, you know, kind of run away when they come inside.
14:20Jason Stewart:But Chris, I know how to do stuff. I'm handy. But then, you know, as you get older, time is money, money is time, certain projects, you know, the gate needs a new coat of black paint, you know, the it's been hot or whatever. I could do it, but it's starting to look pretty nice to go on TaskRabbit, pay a professional to come over and do it. The cleanup's going to be done. The disposal of the shit's going to be done. 16:41Jason Stewart:Yeah, I mean, people are drinking a little bit. I did a little Shaquilla tot here and there, having a Sapporo in the fridge. You know, light work, just getting the thing going. But, you know, by the time the fireworks come on, everyone, we go down to the edge of the backyard, and we see a beautiful, perfect view of the Rose Bowl. and you can see the whole LA skyline, you know, from downtown, blah, blah, blah, all over the place. And on the horizon lines, there are just fireworks going off everywhere. It looks crazy. It's a spectacular view. And then the Rose Bowl right in front of you starts. And there was a food festival happening all weekend at the Rose Bowl called Foodie Land.
17:25Jason Stewart:And instead of doing fireworks they decided to do a sort of foodie land style drone show so it starts off there's the the rose bowl logo i don't want to say i don't want to say anything out of turn here but on this side we're eats con fuck foodie con all day or whatever it's called okay i just want to be clear this sound the foodie con logo came out i pulled my dick i started trying to piss off the cliff to try and hit it i was booing the whole the whole k was booing it's cool when you go pissing calvin mode irl that's a rare kind of thing exactly what i was doing that's a rare thing to see but yeah okay i was so geeked up i thought i could hit the bowl from there um so so you know and the whole time it is dead silent so you don't hear any sound from the drones of course oh yeah i didn't think about this which are quiet and i think they were playing music they were playing like party in the USA on a couple JBL monitor speakers down their parking lot a mile away.
18:26Jason Stewart:So all you hear are just all the other cool real fireworks going on. And then the Rose Bowl logo lights up and then it morphs kind of Jappawakie style. And now it's turned into the Foodie Land Festival logo. And now we got to give it up for our firefighters. And now we got to give it up Altadena Strong. And then the police logo. Oh, hell no. And then police logo. What was it? A cartoon pig. It was, it was like a police badge. And then there, there was a, so like we were, we were in the Canyon and everyone in Pasadena, right. Kind of by Pia's house. Everyone is out watching the show. It's just like a, it's a Pasadena tradition.
19:10Jason Stewart:The Rose bowl firework show. Of course. Everyone goes to their friend's house. It lives there. If you live up in the, in the Hills and you got a good view, it's great. It's just what you do in LA for the 4th of July. so everyone is faded and in their backyard so like the fire department logo goes up everyone's like oh you can hear people cheering in the in the canyons and then the the police logo comes up and i yelled out what are they going to do show the ice logo next and that got a good chuckle out of the canyon so they just they show you know municipal logo that is crazy We showed the Pasadena courthouse building, but it was tilted to the side like the leaning tower of Pisa.
19:51That's a nice twist. I just didn't realize that fireworks, I don't think of fireworks as being so politicized, but I guess in our current climate, everything is politicized. So I thought all of the rich, low-key Republicans in Pasadena would clap for the police, but you're saying you heard some boos.
20:09Jason Stewart:The booze may have only come from me and the people in our house, but we never. Look, all I could hear was what was directly around me, Chris. I don't know. I can't speak for other residents of Pasadena. Pasadena just feels like one of those places where it's a little bit, you know, it's unspoken. God. That's right. Imagine if they droned the ice. Honestly, the fucked up part about that is it's not that out of the question. You know what I mean? It's not that further. It's only one more step based on what you've told me they did. It is not near. Crazy. It's far from an impossibility, we will say.
20:46Jason Stewart:It's crazy. So we all had a chuckle, and then the kids that were there, they were just like, what if it would be cool if these drones, instead of showing police department logos, what if they looked just like fireworks? and I was like kid that's the smartest thing I've heard all fucking day what if you just made the drones shoot up into the air like fireworks instead of you know showing how you can make a flower turn from blue to orange because I think we're still in the phase of drone shows where they want to be very clear that they're able to do this with drones they don't want there to be any confusion that it could do fireworks and then I would say the whole thing was over in about nine minutes and with no there was there was no crescendo moment there was no like oh here it goes like it to me it felt like we went to the movie theater in hopes of seeing f1 starring brad pitt they show the you know the beginning of films they're like you know they show all the production companies though you know of course sony pictures fox searchlight boom boom they just show the logos of the movie.
22:00Jason Stewart:That's what it felt like. They just showed logos of the city or just logos that cities have. And then they didn't show the movie. I can't believe an In-N-Out logo didn't make it, to be honest. Some corporate kind of, you know, I guess foodie, what is it, foodie land? Throw up a Waken Late logo, so regional specific. Yeah, exactly. Let's keep it super regional. Okay, but I know that there was a second stop. There was a Dave's Hot Chicken logo, but I mean, otherwise... Okay, okay, okay. that's one of my favorite places it caused a lot of parking issues near our house just because of the the everyone in line for the drive-thru is stoned so the driving is chicken armenian-owned business is it recently valued at one billion dollars congratulations to them there's more bmw 7 series shout out to my homies yeah and also shout out to my homies at mini kebab here in glendale they're really really advancing in the chicken caesar wrap space right now i just tried their 3.0 version.
22:58Jason Stewart:I didn't know a wrap could do that. That's awesome. Didn't they have that at EatsCon or they had a version of it? I feel like I heard somebody talking about it. Yeah, I tried to get it at EatsCon, but by the time we showed up, it was all sold out, of course. Chicken Caesar wraps are very hot right now, but then you get this guy who's really good at grilling meats and all that stuff. All of a sudden, it's a flavor explosion. He made the croutons with beef tallow and no seed oil. Oh, hell no. It was head and shoulders above. Usually you eat a wrap because you're like, I'm trying to be light. I'm going to just have like a little wrap.
23:28Don't talk about my chopped habit like that. You know, when I'm in certain places, I start fiending for the chopped wrap, even though I know it's bad. Even though I know it's bad. I'm a wrap muncher.
Read the full transcript
23:38Jason Stewart:I love a good wrap, but I didn't know that a wrap could get so decadent. You know what I mean? Wow. Okay. So you were flying high from this wrap. Yes. I don't know if I've received so many DM replies to me posting that on my stories. It was people have like weird visceral reactions to chicken Caesar wraps. I didn't realize that. July, 2025, for some reason. How many, just, just a quick, not to get in the weeds, but what is the, what is the calorie addition of a wrap? Like how much does that actually add versus the bowl of salad? Well, I think it's more so, well, that's a good question. Like if you just nominal, I'm assuming.
24:19Jason Stewart:Yeah. I would say if you're using like the Erewhon spinach green, tortilla with no fucking whatever, expeller pressed hormone, whatever shit, you're going to add 100, 150 calories. Tortillas don't have that many calories. That's why I always wondered why it was such like a, I don't know, it seems like something that should be popular in a general sense. But when you go to a chopped during lunchtime, let's say at the Brookfield Place location here in Manhattan, And there's one wrap for every hundred salads, I would say. Those people don't know how to live. But I mean, the way I look at the wrap, it's not necessarily a decadent version of a salad.
25:01Jason Stewart:I consider it to be a lighter version of a sandwich. I see where you're going. And that's a very, once again, you've done it. That's a very smart way to think about it. We always talk about eating with intention and blah, blah, blah. And that's the way you should look at it. Okay. I'm going to reframe. Not like I'm being a bad girl. I'm being a good girl. Let's reframe the wrap. A healthy sandwich, not a less healthy salad. I think this is smart. This is very smart. So yeah, the fireworks ended. The children said, I wish those were real fireworks because that was stupid. And then we really, you know, we needed to have a little night out.
25:36Jason Stewart:So then we went to the bar, Silver Lake Lounge, to really mix it up with the young youths of the world. And you got, you kept it going. it couldn't have been more quintessential you know like i show up my friend stevie it's his bar i've been there a few times it's always a fun time to hang out and look at young people i'm in the line for the bathroom some guy comes up to me he's like you play basketball man you hoop and i was like nah and he's like you play volleyball i was like who the fuck plays volleyball everyone there just wanted to talk to me about sports which I thought was interesting.
26:16Jason Stewart:Really? Yeah. Dominic Fike's brother asked me if I, he thought I was Michael Phelps and he wanted to ask me about sports and swimming and stuff. And I'm like, guys, I'm, I'm just like a guy who's smoking a cigarette in a parking lot. Yeah, literally. If I was, if I was that good of a swimmer, I would not be smoking a cigarette in a parking lot. That's kind of goes against everything that you're. I'm not working on my box jump PRs right now. I'm literally standing here. I'm trying a nasal spray cocaine for the first time yeah it's a fun how how was the nasal spray cocaine it didn't really it didn't move my needle honestly do you think it's watered down so you have to do more or do you think it's just simply a delivery system i know it's been around yeah you've probably done it before right i'm not i know it's been around for a long time i don't know for some reason it just felt honestly who's to say there could have been enough tequila in my system to sort of sure i won't say balance it out I want to say quickly that I'm a little drinking tequila on 4th of July.
27:16I just think you could have made better choices.
27:19Jason Stewart:I should have been doing what? Jack Daniels? This is California, baby. No, I think a canned beer of Anheuser-Busch American lineage. I had plenty of canned beers. Yeah, but I bet they weren't Miller Lights, Bud Lights. They were Japanese offerings. Michelob Ultras. Exactly. Sapporo or Modelo. If it doesn't end with an O, I don't put it in my mouth. You basically spent the 4th of July, I mean, purposely or not, kind of disrespecting America is low-key what you were doing. 100%. America deserved it this year. America deserved me to give him the spurs in the ass. There were so many good posts about that.
27:57We don't deserve a birthday this year.
28:00Jason Stewart:Bitch, when have we? Yeah, literally never. It was the exact I'm going to go it's important to go tap in with you know people who are 22 definitely see what clothes they're wearing see how baggy their pants are and see how small their tops are wow you guys look as stupid as i thought that's great see how uh more concerned with their skincare routine they are than anything else in their life all those things see how the music that they listen to is bad so they have to play music from 15 years ago because that's the last time club music was good and there i was so i was like so what's going on today what's on the what's on the menu and he's like oh zach bia's little brother's gonna dj little b's gonna be in there with him too and i was like this is exactly what i need little b's in the club drinking a glass of red wine rolling up a fucking hog leg zach bia's brother's playing heads will roll a track remix into bloody b roots this feels like your version of the american apparel documentary you're just in your zone i was well i mean it was you know it was old man shouting out the clouds kind of thing for me because i was like you these motherfuckers like i i cannot i mean a track is a dear friend it's an amazing song great remix legendary classic remix even on even even i know that one you know i don't need to hear i've heard it so many fuck so many times i just can't hear it anymore look Just because you have heard the Day and Night remix more than Kid Cudi himself, it doesn't mean you can sort of gatekeep that from a different generation.
29:40You have to let them enjoy the Heads Will Roll remix because you were allowed to enjoy it during your era.
29:45Jason Stewart:And it is bittersweet because it's like, oh, it's sweet that all this music that I used to play is still being played now. And that makes me feel like something good was being created. But then the bitter part is like, oh, y 'all haven't done. I was listening to Tim Dillon this morning. He was talking about the, let's get down to business. Yeah, yeah. That's funny. I listen to it too. The reason why we listen to music from 2008 and it still bangs harder in the club than any of that shit now is because all we have now is, let's get down to business. Yeah. And that sums it up perfectly. It's just a bunch of horse shit.
30:19Jason Stewart:Or like, you know, you call a Stephanie, I call a Heffany. I forgot about that one. Or, you know, just like what if we made like the fucking lamest tech house song in the world, but it's like when it's about to drop, it's Kendrick being like minor. And then a bunch of people who like go to church start losing their shit at the mantra rib. Kendrick Lamar is music for people who go to church. That's a funny way to put it, but I completely agree with you. No shade to my church listeners out there. No, we love all our religious listeners, but I mean, I don't know if you heard the new Drake song. Drake is back.
30:56Jason Stewart:yeah he was back for like one hour and then he's i would get i would say less than that i would say less than that it's not it's not awful it's not great but so so i i i watched the video it's like him in a freezer and it was like his angle his defense or whatever seems to be like now we're admitting defeat and we're saying like why are you hurting me so bad he's saying some of his homies we were cool he's saying some the ice man i guess he's at like a popular uh toronto based ice delivery service location okay that's not a joke and he was like in the truck and shit but i think that the um he thought he was really cooking with that idea didn't he i think well i think the album is called i think the album the forthcoming album is called the ice man but i i think that the um i think that the sentiment was some of y 'all been dick riding since headlines but then you went to the pop out and i don't really like that kind of stuff is what i is what I deduced I didn't yeah I only heard this from academics of course I didn't go to rap genius.com and then everyone that listens to hip-hop was like yeah I could see how you would not like that anyway back to not listening to you you're telling me some NBA player uh six six man of the year went to the pop-out uh after being friends with you I don't I don't blame it so you're you're saying we're all competing in a popularity contest and when you stop being popular I stopped hanging out with you yeah that's that's how the world sounds about right i think i think that he's i still think he might have one and i mean the song did pretty good numbers but i always i also forget because i didn't like the song or listen to it that nokia is like one of the biggest songs ever like it's got some insane stats but it just didn't it didn't feel like it culturally moved the needle the way that any song used to you know but like to do that big of numbers is sort of insane it just proves that you don't need culture at all you just need people with spotify on their phone yeah and i'm sure there's just parts of the world that don't even know or care about whatever is going on with drake and they just follow him on spotify and they're like oh drake has a new song i love music that's good and then that's it they don't keep up with the uh shenanigans no the shenanigans are i mean imagine being able i always give this example of once i took my dad to buy running shoes and he did the test on the treadmill you know where they look at your gait and then suggest a shoe based on your running style.
33:21And they were just like, okay, these are the shoes for you. And he just bought them without any consideration of brand. You know, like how freeing that must be. It's the same idea to just be like, I like this Drake song. I don't care that he's not cool. I'm not bothered by any of this. I don't think about this.
33:37Jason Stewart:I don't care if Saucony uses sweatshop labor. Exactly. They just feel so good. They feel so good. But I also, there was a big, there were several big shows in the UK this weekend. Fontaine's played at Finsbury Park. And obviously Oasis did their first, we'll talk about that, their first show in Cardiff. But I was noticing, you know, I always get a lot of shit for calling certain hip hop acts dusty. Okay. And I stand by this. But there was a show last night that might be the dustiest show of all time. And it's the Black Sabbath finale. and the lineup is Mastodon, Anthrax, Lamb of God, Alice in Chains, Drum Off.
34:21I think that's not a band. That's an action. It's an intermission featuring a sick-ass Drum Off. Pantera, Tool, Slayer, Guns N' Roses, Metallica, Ozzy, and then Black Sabbath. And I want to say that this sounds like this is my actual nightmare. Going to this and having to see and smell these people is my absolute nightmare.
34:40Jason Stewart:This is no place for you, of course. Also, the set times are very interesting. Tool played from 6.17 p.m. to 6.37 p.m. Which is kind of the way it should be, right? I mean, I would love for Tool to play from 6.17 to 6.18 if we could, but you can't win them all. But yeah, I just couldn't believe when I saw the lineup printed out on Metal Addict's official Instagram. I couldn't believe I just couldn't believe this is way dustier than anything I could have dreamed up and I'm looking at the flyer for it and it just looks like a day party in Atlanta type thing there's too many words I heard that the guy from Disturbed got booed off stage which was the one kind of good cool thing that happened there he doesn't deserve to be there we should have booed Duff McKagan too old Duff ass um yeah i mean it was it was dark it felt like um a funeral you know when like or it felt i don't know it's kind of like like when the when somebody dies the funeral is elective yes but then like if like the pope dies everyone in the vatican has to go whether they want to or not whether they agree with it or not and this sort of had the same energy of like a mandatory funeral yeah kind of thing and then they had Ozzy come out you know he can't stand he can still sing pretty well but he can't stand so they he comes out of the stage you know like fucking sigh popping out before Gangnam Style and then he sings a couple songs um I I would like I would have liked to see Alice in Chains even though Alice in Chains you know they shouldn't really be playing anymore since their singer Alice in Chains is the only only band on this bill that I would like to see as well but i i don't think this is the environment who is it that we were talking to about how alice and change is like huge now and having like a big moment oh yeah we were talking to somebody about that i feel like it wasn't on the show though was it rylan maybe yeah it was probably rylan yeah it was probably rylan yeah it was true i think i just saw like was it like two hollis posted some instagram of like him sledding out on the bed or something like that and and it was like a an alice and chains like ballad gone i forgot what song but alice and chains still still slaps shout out to them um yeah it was a dark dark vibe uh yeah but i did the oasis set list um was unbelievable and i'm very excited that we're going now after this they really delivered labor day savings are happening now at the home depot with select appliances starting at 399 plus save up to an extra thousand dollars and get free delivery on appliance purchases of 998 or more.

38:48Jason Stewart:yeah i was i will say so yesterday in my in my hungover state yeah when you used to get hung over did you did it make you any more emotional at all oh yeah of course yeah definitely yeah definitely that's why i had to stop i didn't it wasn't it wasn't that i was addicted to drugs that i wanted to uh you know stifle my emotions even more than i can do uh on my own sure yeah i mean So like yesterday, and we'll get back to the Oasis, but it reminded me of this. I was in such a state yesterday, and it felt like when you're on an airplane, and you're watching The Notebook, and then you start crying.
39:27Jason Stewart:It just happens. I guess cabin pressure altitude affects your tear ducts in some certain way. Of course. Whatever. That's why real men, raw dog. It's not because they're looking inward. It's because they don't want to cry during a movie for women. so yesterday i i got misty three different times and it was all related to things that should have not like so the first one i woke up i was watching wimbledon and there was like like jokovic had some crazy point it was like a it was an amazing point you saw it right yeah yeah it was amazing and i was just and i saw people you know like his son is in the crowd like cheering him on and i was like that tv show 100 foot wave oh i mean in this i'm in the sauna watching 100 foot wave i'm slucking down my magna magnesium i got advils flowing through me i'm doing everything and then every episode of that show is just like people being injured or dying in the ocean so it's just like yeah here's the king of king of the beach man he was our godfather and blah blah blah and this is the episode where he dies and we show everyone cry about how he dies and and so i'm crying there and then i see a video of a guy maybe you know 19 20 year old kid with an oasis jersey on and he's just talking into a camera about how the show was so good this is like the best day of my life type you can just to see somebody so happy i don't know of all like the follow-up oasis videos i've seen I don't know any other band that really has this level of joy.
41:08Jason Stewart:No. I don't know. It's interesting. I think you're right. I think you're right. It does feel very joyous. I mean, I saw there was so - I mean, obviously, when the Taylor Swift videos where people are inconsolable when they're in the parking lot. Yeah, but the music sucks, so it's hard to relate. I mean, you know. Yeah, everyone is crying at a Taylor show because this song is about how a boy hurt your feelings and didn't call you or whatever. oasis is like you know this is it's celebratory music it's well i think it's also a lot of the fans especially in cardiff this is the best thing that's ever happened to them you know what i mean like they don't like literally literally why was because i was at home when it was happening and um ed coming was in the uk he sent me a link to the to a guy that was live streaming it from his phone and it was like so shitty and all you could hear is people singing but then every I would say every other song he would turn the camera around and it was his like 9 year old son with an Oasis shirt on who knew every word to every song and it was very sick and I just don't feel like that I can't think of anything in America like that I literally can't I cannot think of anything like that where it's like maybe it's a UK thing because when I was to see The Killers last summer it was very generational as well it was like father, son you know what I mean?
42:26It was that same kind of vibe, which is interesting because I just don't feel, maybe it like Bruce Springsteen or something. I don't know.
42:32Jason Stewart:Yeah. Cause we were, when we were talking to Mark Hoppus about it happening at Blink 182 shows, it seems a little different. I mean, not, not that one band is better or worse than the other, but yeah, it's okay. Oasis is better than all of these bands. I think that's fair to say, but you know, when he's saying like, yeah, it's cool. And I see, you know, the dad who went to see us in the nineties and then they have kids and their kids have kids and we're all generationally. listening to a song about um how work sucks and your girlfriend bring you burrito but you know oasis is singing about how you know cigarettes are good no i'm saying they're they're both not dealing in particularly yeah like heavy themes powerful emotion this isn't i mean magnolia electric company don't look back yeah this isn't this isn't silver juice i you're right It's a little more kind of straightforward, let's say.
43:25Jason Stewart:No, that's a good point. This song about jacking off did not get me through some tough times that recalls a period in my life or whatever. Yeah, I do understand that. I watched a little live stream, and they put out a little, but there's that photo. There's a black and white photo of them walking onto the stage, and Liam's got his hand over Noel's shoulder. and if you want to talk about tears my dude that is a beautiful sight and I am I also Noel was wearing a Levi's western shirt which I also like to see yeah that seems to be his uniform I like seeing the footage of when they finish the set Noel already has the cigarette lit before he gets off stage just like oh and then Liam doesn't even get go backstage he just gets into a car that has pulled up next to the yeah he gets into the he gets into the Range Rover directly from the stage so cool I mean I think that I think that if they're getting along which they are even though there's a reason for it which is money I do think I do think it's probably better for everybody if they sort of keep it pressing so that nothing happens you know if they're both they both had 10 pints backstage and they're something happens.
44:46Let's not push our luck. Exactly. The probability is just too high. It's just too high. It's too high. It made me very excited to go to London because I feel like it's just going to be electric. Absolutely electric, man.
45:00Jason Stewart:I'm happy for them. It's great that everyone seems to be enjoying the shows. I'm excited. I feel like I need to start listening to some Oasis b-sides that I'm not 100 ,000 % familiar with because I don't want some geezer to look at me when it's time to sing along. When I've got a pint of cider balancing on my head and then some guy grabs me by the lapels and I don't know the words to that song, that's going to be embarrassing. Luckily for you, based on this set list, there's not really any deep cuts. I was and also if I don't know the words a thousand percent memorized by the second verse you can kind of pick it up yeah that's sort of how it goes well you know I'm also I'm famously a be here now apologist okay and you know people hate that album but I think that the I would if they played I hope I think I know I would be very excited or the girl in the dirty shirt is another favorite of mine but I don't think those are going to make the cut so I don't think so do you think do you know if the They've played two shows now.
46:11Jason Stewart:Did the set list change or did it stay the same? Do you know? Have they played two? Did they play last night too? I haven't seen a set list. I only saw the – yeah, you're right. I haven't seen – I've only seen the set list from the first night. Because I was wondering, are they going to do the same exact set every show or are they going to mix it up? Because I feel like if I was their manager, I'd be like, we can just keep it going. I bet they'll mix it up maybe encore. because right now the encore is like wonderwall and champagne supernova and i think they maybe would add i don't know i i agree with you though it's probably the safer thing to do as we're all erring on the side of caution here i think the safer thing to do would be like play this every night don't think about it keep those fingers crossed um yeah happy for all of them excited to go excited to uh have a wank to that set list i did something um fucked up on july 4th that i told you about in the group chat but i wanted to admit it publicly here um and that is that is we went to this new taco place that took over lost skin called santo's tacos okay and it's like a tiktok thing it blew up like overnight it's like a it's like a real chef's take on tacos i can't Remember the other restaurant he has?
47:25It's very popular. Santo tacos? It's a whole thing. But on July 4th, obviously, it was pretty mellow. It's been an amazing weekend in the city because the weather's been pretty good. And it's mellow, obviously, traffic-wise.
47:35Jason Stewart:This is right underneath a St. Laurent billboard. And is that the one? Yeah. But La Esquina is like an OG sort of like, you know, you would walk through the kitchen to go to the basement. And then Jay-Z would be there. It was like a real hot spot in its heyday. so now it's been turned into this taco thing by this you know chefy chef and it was uh it's very popular i we went to try it it was extremely mid and i was of course still hungry um so there's another taco place called los tacos that is on lafayette street next to levan i've never been there before and i was like you know what i don't want i need something else to eat but i don't want to switch up the flavors you know what i mean i can't go into a different zone of food let's just go to Los Tacos and I'll get a cactus taco and maybe some chips and guac and I'll be satisfied.
48:24And it absolutely worked. It was perfect.
48:26Jason Stewart:So you're like, what if we had the good version of what I just ate? That's literally the, that was literally how I was like, all right, well, this place I've heard about for years. I've never been there because it's always aligned, but Cho said this and it's true. They are the bit, it's one of the most efficient businesses I've ever seen. They're printing money in there and there's a few locations, but basically you order they give you a ticket you bring the ticket over to one of the chefs you know one of the cooks and then they make it for you and hand it to you right there right so you gotta you gotta do your own expo you do your own running exactly even so even if i'm looking at a photo from their uh opening party post malone was there even posty has to go walk over in his belt buckle and with his pacifico posty's moseying he ain't he ain't strolling it's different it seems like uh yeah i'm looking at a photo i see people uh it's the type of place where the owners wear sunglasses indoors you're talking about you're talking about santo's santo yeah yeah santo santo taco yeah not for me but i mean it does look very tiktoky i don't i think it i think it happened like overnight like i think it was literally like it opened and two days later it was a shit show interesting it's like the gene genes of of mexican food yeah i mean it's it's like it's a place where the they they design the hat before they design the menu yeah that's a big problem in a lot of places it's a big problem a lot of places but i thought it was a a fun thing that i'm gonna i'm interested in doing again no i like that i mean actually carolyn and her mom both have that sort of trait inside of them and i'm sort of that same way when you go to a restaurant you're like oh this place has apparently the lasagna is whatever you know whatever it is and you go there and it's disappointing you either have to immediately right that wrong by going to a real restaurant where they do it correctly or make it yourself exactly you don't have the power to do that nor do you have the kitchen no i don't i don't know i had to go to los tacos i had um on friday night i guess uh cronor did his thing uh at time again and i have to say it was a kronor it was a kronor menu oh really um yeah lobster roll veggie burger regular burger salad shrimp cocktail and there might have been one other and the shrimp cocktail that my friend spencer that i was with was like this is a very healthy portion it was they didn't skimp they didn't skimp on the shrimp cocktail and when you're sitting outside of a bar you know in chinatown eating a delicious high grade shrimp cocktail from a seafood dealer yes it was i i mean it feels like i was like he's getting these for the low so he can throw in a straight from the monger to your mouth yeah yeah he's not exactly he's not he's not getting these he's not getting them marked up from the from the local spot he's we're getting it straight from the we're cutting out the middleman clip style you know we're getting it raw that a1 perico yeah during covid he was he was literally selling seafood yeah out the back of the trunk type shit he'd make runs he'd make runs up up 95 he'd make a run upstate to monterey and secure the sea urchins and bring him down to oh no no i got the uni i got the uni i got the uni i'm on my way i'm on my way i'm on my way i got the pack don't worry pack landed pack landed yeah it was up but um the veggie burger is just so good and i i don't it calls it an earth burger i believe but i just i i i was just really happy to have that i was really happy to have a a traditional fourth of july experience even if it wasn't on the actual day because in new york that's sort of hard to come by i feel like yeah and also we should do better as all restaurants that are listening if there's a guy who is making shrimp cocktail in the parking lot of a bar in chinatown and it tastes better and is better and it's more of a value than you know We went to Sunset Tower last week.
52:20Jason Stewart:No shade to the tower, but it was probably the worst. There's no value to be had there. I'll say that. There's no value. There's no value. But if you're an internationally recognized institution, amazing bar and restaurant, you should not be lapped in terms of quality by a guy in a parking lot. It was one of the worst shrimps I've ever had in my life. Cooked to its life. I mean, it was... It was like eating a piece of... It wasn't good. It was just so overcooked. These were very good also, though, because they were the right size. Yeah. I think that's an overlooked part of the shrimp cocktail discourse.
53:01Jason Stewart:Bigger does not always mean better. No. Sometimes they're too fat. Sometimes they're too small. They feel like rats or something. I don't know. It doesn't work. Not rats. Insects. You know what I mean? When they're too small, they feel a little insect-y. But yeah, I mean... How's timing again? It's still open. hasn't been shut down by chinatown pd yet no i think there was some back and forth i mean we're talking despot was there we're talking about it it was a it was a little bit of a he said he's got it figured out okay thank god which is when he says i've got it figured out i chose to believe him you know whether he whether he does or not i i i liked his attitude about it um i want to believe if he's i mean if he's still stayed open and i've had the police come visit him i mean he he openly docs and documents it on his social media he does you know it was dozens and dozens of time the fuzz goldman and his child were there which was fun to see goldman with his child drinking a martini just having a having a burger that's such an nyc moment really living the nyc dream yeah really living the dream um all right uh well there's also um there's also a new travis scott smoothie at erewan chris oh i know i didn't even want to talk about it i mean between that and the addison ray matcha full collab i don't know where to start i was thinking yesterday what What if you put chia seeds in the matcha latte?
54:14Jason Stewart:Is that psycho? Holy shit. Here, he's done it again. Did you see that? A big Celine show this morning that people are not very happy about from what I can tell so far. Is it because of that ugly ass shoe? No, it's just, it's a new designer. It's Michael Ryder who's cool and comes from like Ralph Lauren, but I think Celine is very polarizing. Is Celine going through it right now? I mean, everybody's going through it right now. That's the fucking problem. Everybody's going through it. Everybody, Chris. I mean, most everybody, honestly, most everybody is going through it. Amiri is probably doing just fine.
54:47I mean, if you saw that Amiri show, you'd maybe question that. But feel free to click through on VogueRunway.com. Get all your Amiri runway shots out of them.
54:56Jason Stewart:I mean, I don't enjoy the clothing of Amiri whatsoever, but I think the EBITDA is hitting nice for them over there. I think that the EBITDA has been hitting nice. The problem with this business is it doesn't last forever, no matter who you are, because the rappers and basketball players are going to stop wearing skin-tight,$1 ,000 fake-ripped jeans eventually. I think they already have, kind of, right? They have, but I think when you look at his life— They're wearing their wide-leg Fear of God trouser sets. Yeah, they got the mad happy matching set on for the playoffs. It's hitting different out here.
55:32Jason Stewart:Pop out, something zesty, you know what I'm saying? Don't make me pop out. Don't make me pop out with something zesty. Yeah, but it just happened this morning, but there was a lot of people that weren't loving it. But there was a very cool long men's rugby that Tom Betridge called a rugby dress that would look very cool on a woman as a rugby dress, but it was obviously on a man. And it's a little hard to understand. Rugby dress. So it's like a rugby shirt, but it just go down long? Exactly, yeah. I used to have I used to have one of those I forgot who made it you used to wear that Wales Bonner one didn't you?
56:12Jason Stewart:yeah Wales Bonner that's right did you get rid of that? that looked good on you it was Carolyn's I think I got rid of it I don't remember but it was like a medium or something like that and it fit large on me so I think it may have intended to be a rugby dress too oversized for even you the rare when oversized goes wrong That was a nice garment though. I think that was a... I remember you wearing that. Neiman Marcus sale. Shout out to Mary Kate. Yeah, I'm looking at this Erwin smoothie right now. Every day there's a new ingredient that I've never heard of. And I pay attention to this stuff. I hadn't been to Erwin in a while, obviously.
56:49And we went, we were in LA last week. And it was like, I forget that, at least the one in West Hollywood, the staff of the smoothie tonic bar is like double the staff of the rest of the entire facility. Oh, yeah. But it's because of these stupid drinks. You have to have 15 people layering them all afternoon. It's crazy. Layering them? I just wonder if it's worth it. Honestly, I wonder if it's worth it. The amount of labor that goes into one of these smoothies that's 14 colors is like the body is entire.
57:21Jason Stewart:It's 14 colors and$27, though. You know what I mean? Yeah, I know. But I mean, of course, it's profitable. Don't get me wrong. I mean, obviously they wouldn't be doing it, but it just seems like a lot of effort is all I'm saying. I agree. I agree. And I think they wish that they could just make their nut off of selling a plastic container with two hard-boiled eggs in it for$11 or a banana for$12. I don't know what it is. Don't come for me. Don't come for my$36 fish plate. Or a$36 fish plate, but when I look at the amount of ingredients… Yeah, it's crazy. Maybe the price is not bad. Maybe this is a good value.
58:01Jason Stewart:Because I'm... I mean, look. Air One has value if you can find it. A lot of it is not. Yeah, if you know how to use it. If you know how to use the system. I had it for dinner last night. If you go get a slice of pepperoni pizza for$10, it's a massive slice. You can cut it in half. So that's two slices right there. Boom, two slices of pizza,$10. Speak for yourself. Speak for yourself. Speak for yourself. I thought it was a delicious pizza. You love the pizza there. I've actually never had the pizza there. I'll remedy that next time I'm in the Erwan vicinity. I'll try one. Yeah, get a little kale, avocado, bean salad.
58:34I mean, that's the best thing. That's the best thing. I love that fucking salad. If it's marinated, if that kale is massaged properly, oh, baby, there's nothing that hits like that.
58:42Jason Stewart:Get in my belly. Get in my belly. Coconut rice pudding on the low if you're into it, if you're a ricer. That's nice.
