In short
How Long Gone episode with hosts Chris Black (“Chris & them jeans”) and Jason Stewart (“Big Unit”) riffing on podcasting/media culture and current events, plus personal stories: Chicago Wrigley Field “first pitch” experience, fragrance ASMR “Overspray Jay,” and travel/food anecdotes (including an airplane banana). They also discuss podcast guest cancellations and their “respect” policy (no day-of cancellations unless an exception).
Guests
No guest appeared; a planned guest canceled about an hour before recording due to illness. Mentioned but not present: “Kevin Abstract” (joked about), and several media figures discussed (Netanyahu, Hunter Biden, Alex Jones, Joe Budden, Ozzy Osbourne, Rachel Zoe).
Key claims
Podcasting politics are becoming unavoidable (politicians on podcasts). Joe Budden’s DIY success is framed as “betting on himself,” with claims he earns ~$20M/year and pays co-hosts ~$1.5 each. Overspray Jay’s spraying/tallow ASMR is praised as “swag” and Foley-like artistry. Ozzy Osbourne is called a major “reality star,” and Black Sabbath is credited as foundational to metal/punk/hardcore.
Notable examples
Channel Five crack discussion (Hunter Biden), Alex Jones on Tim Dillon, Joe Budden/NYT profile, Wrigley Field mascot “Clark” (named for Clark Street), pride jersey urinal “hack,” and Overspray Jay’s “100+ sprays” fragrance routine.

0:14Jason Stewart:The next thing you know, you're in a cycling crew. Well, a community cycling group. The thing about Facebook, you might find more than what you're looking for. From a browse to a bike ride, this summer, find more on Facebook.
0:47how long gone we got to talk about something uh chris black and them jeans aka jason stewart aka big unit uh come come into you still from chicago i'm back in new york um we were supposed to have a guest today but uh they canceled an hour ago because they woke up and said they weren't feeling well um i don't know who wakes up at 1 30 in the afternoon but i guess that's a
1:10Jason Stewart:whole nother issue yeah kevin abstract you are not welcome on how long gone sorry bro we have a cancellation late fee and we've been disrespected frankly this is what it is if you if you cancel weeks out, of course it's fine. I understand things happen. We move things around our side. If you cancel day of, unless you are a list or someone whose music I've been listening to since I was a child, we're done. It's just how it's got to be. It's a respect thing. It's just a respect thing. And there are plenty of people who could walk all over us. That's true. Well, I'll ask you this. What is the cutoff for you?
1:47Jason Stewart:You said weeks is fine, but what is the latest or the earliest, I guess we should say. I would say one week. Yeah, I mean, one week is fine. Yeah, one week is plenty of time. That's fine. Day of is just unacceptable to me. Like, I just don't, I don't believe anyone that cancels day of. I believe that they're hungover or they, you know, it's G-easy shit. Like, I was out last night until three in the morning and now I don't want to do this after I ask you to do this. It's just, it's not, it's not, it's just not really how it works. Like, we don't, we don't care about, about plenty of people and there's people also people we care a lot about too much about um but these are these are all great points um you play with my time you play with my money abstract that's on site if i see you in the if you see you at we spa or olympic spa or any of the other any of your blocks i think big kev's got plenty i don't know how those guys made any money when there were 16 people in the band but i think he's doing okay on his own so maybe he was buying bottles somewhere last night we just weren't invited to delilah it's possible i saw on his instagram story he said he was looking for a barber in austin so i don't know what kind of trouble he got into actually damn been been there brother literally been there and see kevin this we could have been having that's relatable one that's relatable as hell right there off top i'm looking for a barber in every city i go to i totally get that um i'm gonna go get a haircut right after we finish podcast and get back on my city bike get over there to get over the east village uh there's a lot going on it's actually a good day for for a guest to cancel honestly thank god there's a lot of an abstract there's a lot to talk about so i mean i would like to start uh with sort of what's been going on in the podcasting space for the last in the last you know 24 to 48 hours um usually we're talking about a smart list deal or you know call her daddy had christina aguilera on or you know whatever but but the last 24 hours we we got netanyahu on nelk boys we got hunter biden on channel 5 and we got alex jones on tim dylan and i you know i noticed all these things i'm sure you do we got joseph q budden the third and the gray lady in the new york times so mikey our friend mikey texted me being like wow this is cooked like this is too far like anything you can do to not have a politician on a podcast is now like subversive and i'm starting to sort of agree and i'm i'm glad that zoaron had to reschedule you know and never made it you know the hunter biden talking explaining crack and why it's better than alcohol and why it's so addictive that is extremely compelling and very cool and what it what is it about a guy describing the ins and outs of of crack cocaine you know a very dangerous thing is it is it just it's had such a bad rap for so long because of the government propaganda crack is whack etc etc and it's just taken somebody in a you know a tall white man wearing a collared shirt to calmly explain it on channel five for everyone to be like damn is is cooking and serving base actually the the move i mean it is for sure i mean i do think the crack epidemic uh ruined lives uh in many parts of this country in the 80s um and took down you know politicians athletes etc it's obviously a dangerous dangerous game to play um that being said you it feels good it's like i mean crack To me, crack and cocaine, I've never smoked crack, but I've smelled it.
5:33Jason Stewart:I would say that it's like riding fixed gear with no brakes versus riding a regular bicycle with gears and brakes. A regular city bike, not one of the battery-powered. Yeah, yeah. Just a standard bicycle, not a silver surfer. The danger element is there, but you feel free and alive in a way that regular old sniffing won't do. It's true. He makes a great case for it. I mean, I thought that was the most, I mean, I'm not going to, I've never watched Nelk Boys. I'm not going to start now. And I, I listened to Alex Jones on Tim Dillon, which was against my sort of better judgment. I don't know why I felt so compelled.
6:11I was, you know, I was at an equinox in Westchester County. It felt like the right place to do it, but I found, I forgot how crazy and insane that he sounds like, like not just his voice and his, his tone of voice, but the stuff that he is saying and for for somebody to be able to keep it like a straight face and not comment on every single thing that comes out of his mouth is a testament to tim dylan as a broadcaster because
6:36Jason Stewart:my god was he saying some wild shit yeah i was trying to think of like what exactly it is like what is the reason and i think a lot of these people who are in his orbit like joe rogan or tim dylan or red scare or any of these other people who are you know swimming in the waters with alex jones i i think it's almost like collecting him like a like an endangered albino bear or like you know like he's he's definitely albino yeah he's not by just and he's an albino big fuzzy bear just just like they're they know that everything that he says is ridiculous they know that it's going to be just four hours of nonsense and him saying deep state and hillary and all that you know all this shit skull daggers and that's the builder burgers you know like it's just you just hit a button and it just goes but but having him having his bust on your mantle as a podcaster it's you know it's forbidden fruit it's like a episode with him i would just i mean as usual i would rather bang my head up against a wall than spend an hour talking to Alex Jones while he claims that he has sources at the FBI.
7:51I just don't really, I just don't, I just find it hard to believe. I mean, obviously the guy knows how to get ratings, but I mean, a lot of people who sensationalize and lie can get ratings. That's part of the sort of job of someone like that. But yeah, I was just, it's been an insane, that is an insane trifecta, the things we just named all happening within a day. and I'm not going to say it has to do with Jeff Epstein but I'm not going to say it doesn't have to do with Jeff
8:18Jason Stewart:I mean it's all connected the Nelk boys Epstein he's like they're the boys? Okay let's check them out I'll subscribe to them how old are these boys? What do you mean they're in college? Oh god These guys are over the fucking hill They look like they can overpower me physically Support for today's episode of How Long Gone comes from Square. 11:30Jason Stewart:Don't sleep. I was driving so I didn't have a chance to read the Joe Budden New York Times story. And now that my favorite pocket app, which is what I would use to save articles and have them be read to me while I'm driving, it just shut down. RIP. And 12footladder.io or whatever. RIP. Also RIP. They might almost fuck around and have me subscribe to something. I feel like they'll come back from the ashes. I feel like there's a developer right now working overtime. listeners at home let me know send your boy them jeans some type of paywall blocker i don't do no vpn shit vpn shit paywall jumper vpn is unfortunately awesome and i use one all the time when i'm out of town it really be being able to i just don't want to ever have to change my web browsing because i'm in a different country and the vpn for 999 allows you to do that this is not an ad what what vpn service do you use nord vpn nord so i basically what i what the reason i use it is because when i'm in like let's say we're in london and i want to do my usual scrolling i have to if i don't use it and and set my location is new york city i have to like go to every site and then retype the url for the u.s edition oh you know and it's just and and obviously hbo and all that shit but some of that's blocked now it's a little it's still not a perfect it's not a perfect science but i yeah sure there's a there's a very long article about joe budden and his rise to success and like why it's all worked and i'm glad that he's getting uh his his flowers as they say yeah he's getting his flowers and i guess his co-hosts are now now that everyone knows how much money he brings in his co-hosts are asking for raises do you think they deserve a raise i think flip should get fired okay uh i think because i was just this is a rough estimate i where i was telling you earlier but it said that he pays his co-hosts 1.5 and if there's six of them they're pulling 20 total is what he's saying okay they're they're doing a quarter million a year yeah i see the salaries i mean on average maybe some get a little bit more than others because not every you know some people are on every episode and some people a little little little more auxiliary is that safe to say yeah i i would say they also sort of like come in and out depending on what they want to do which is interesting like it's never just him and one person obviously but like certain members of the group take a holiday you know milsa ford goes to the beach mark lamont hill has a speaking gig you know flip's gonna do uh bill maher on friday so he's gotta cut out early he's on panel again flip is this is crazy and i don't mean to break this news but queen's flip is is replacing stephen colbert and i think that it could save i think it could save late night i think it could save late night but yeah i mean so you're saying all right joe's saying he pulls in pulls in 20 million a year uh they're buying a two million dollar condo in edgewater where they record which is also a pretty crazy genius move on their part well what genius just because they're able to use it as a yeah just because just just being able to like buy an apartment use it as your studio it's all a write-off you know it's all it's smart it's a smart way to do it i mean it's an edgewater but you know joe said let me let me mess around and get a live work space maybe there's retail options on on the first floor oh that's what we need you can put a joe in the juice joe button in the juice joe and the juice good name for a podcast with you know him and the ghost of orenthal james simpson via ai but yeah it's an interesting story I mean, I think that like even just scanning it, it's fun to see Joe Budden mentioned in the same breath as Alex Cooper.
15:15Jason Stewart:You know, it's nice to see how the sausage is made by like real people who are doing it in a real DIY kind of way. And just like, I'm going to we're just going to do it versus like I have been acquired by our media. And now I do. You know, he really did bet on himself. It's fucking crazy. It's crazy to walk away from like guaranteed money for a network, do it yourself and then come up with 20 million. Even if that's inflated, that's still insane. For a guy who, you know, 10 years ago was just smoking Newports in an alley somewhere behind a strip club. And now he's a certified New York Times cover star.
15:51Yeah, he's a lot of things.
15:54Jason Stewart:Respected. He's in rubbing elbows with Media Elite. Not just Jadakiss and Sheik Louch. I think it's mostly Jadakiss, but you're right. Okay. There's some of that. I mean, I think that's his whole thing that's interesting as a listener is that he doesn't really do anything. Like he kind of only goes to, you know, weird, bad restaurants. I wake up. I cheat on my wife. I do a podcast. No, first of all, his whole thing is black men don't cheat. You know that. Actually, I don't know that. What's his logic behind that? I think that's just fun little phrase. I think it's just fun. I don't think there's much logic behind it.
16:31Jason Stewart:but he's not trying i was wondering if he's created some type of loophole in the in the game no no there's no there's not but he i mean he's the kind of guy all of them are the kind of guys that go to restaurants where they like bring a t-bone to your table in a briefcase and open it and and dry ice comes out that's the kind of guys we're talking about you know but he also has a he has a maybach with a driver he got a new lambo you know it's it's a good life and inspiration we hope to follow in your fat farms. Joe, it's time to get those Bottegas over here. It's time to get those rude sweatpants on How Long Gone.
17:09We're extremely overdue. We're extremely overdue.
17:12Jason Stewart:I agree. But yeah, anyway, that happened. What else is going on? Oh, Ozzy Osbourne died, which I don't care about because that's not a band I like, but he is one of our greatest reality stars of all time, and I want to put some respect on that. Great reality star. His kids ended up turning out great. He was able to live long enough to see his kids steer back onto course in terms of just being alive, period. It's sort of a victory for both of them. But just in terms of physical transformations, they're both looking kind of - What do you think the family budget for plastic surgery was for the last five years?
17:52we'll set aside 300k a year i'm gonna say for i'm gonna say really we're talking about sharon kelly jack might have had a little tuck something i think jack jack he don't need it i think it's
18:04Jason Stewart:more it's kelly has been taking a lot of that and sharon obviously she's got a standing bill i bet ozzy too i you know i don't i mean rest in peace rest in peace to the bat head eater but i bet he I bet he had his bat wings tucked. He had his bat wings tucked. I always forget how much people like Black Sabbath, though. He had a goblin lift. Yeah, I mean, well, I was never a huge Sabbath fan, but I guess in terms of respecting the architects, we wouldn't have metal or punk or hardcore without them. They really invented distorting guitars and making shit sound evil. No, I absolutely agree with that.
18:44I just have never, that goes into a category of things that I just never listened to, like Guns N' Roses or ACDC or any of that stuff.
18:54Jason Stewart:You're more into Poison the Well and things of that nature. Well, I mean, yes, to some extent, but I also agree with you that Poison the Well couldn't have walked unless Black Sabbath crawled. And they are the architects. I agree with that 100%. Yes. I agree with that 100%. I was actually in the hotel in Chicago that I'm staying at. Two bands were staying at the hotel, Fish and Pantera. And Pantera now plays with Zach Wild, guitar player. He replaced the irreplaceable to the left, to the left, Dimebag Daryl, one of the last living, greatest, not living. One of the coolest guys of all time. Sickest dudes of all time.
19:41Jason Stewart:And Zach Wilde, he's known as, he had another band like in the 2000s, 90s called the Black Label Society. Of course. And he has like a buff, biker bro kind of Viking aesthetic going on. And I saw him, my brother was like, yo, I seen there goes Zach Wilde in the gym, whatever. And I saw him yesterday. And I think he might be on Ozempic because the Zach Wilde I know from my teen years growing up. He was lifting light. He was lifting a little light. Well, he used to be, like if you Google photos of him, he's like a He-Man. He has huge biceps, buff-ass, badass dude, wearing leather vests and shit.
20:22Jason Stewart:Looks like a real fucking shit kicker. My biceps and his biceps were the same, and I have no biceps. That's big of you to admit that, and I'm proud of you for sharing, and this is a safe space. My pythons are not on Swole. My pythons are more. Yeah, they're not. But I mean, that is - I don't have wimp. I'm not a wimp. Why? I'm okay. I don't want to say wimp. That would be too far. Maybe the dysmorphia is going on, or maybe, you know, obviously everyone that is quote unquote famous is shorter when you see them in real life, and also smaller. It's true. I met Terry Crews at the Equinox locker room, and I was like, bro, you are dinky on the low.
21:06Jason Stewart:Pocket size. And he looks like fucking Eben on Fantastic Four. He looks like the largest man walking on planet Earth. Yeah, now he does. Now he does. He does. Man goes into my nipples. I mean, he looks great, of course, but it's not like this. It's not like the guy that you sat next to on the plane who was really creating mass. Anyway, he looked good. He looked svelte. His cheekbones are. Good for him. He was serving anorexia. Yeah, Pantera having what seemed to be three or four buses seemed kind of extreme to me. No, that was Fish. That was Fish as well. But I didn't see anybody from Fish. I saw the guys from Pantera walking to the buses.
21:48But yeah, I mean, I'm sure. I wish I would have seen a member of Fish. I couldn't pick them out because they look like they work at a Jimmy John's.
21:53Jason Stewart:Well, I think that's the difference. I think that I have seen many Fish members this week, and I just didn't realize it. but when you're walking around the Waldorf Astoria and a guy in Pantera opens up the elevator, he's sticking out like a sore thumb. Well, he's sticking out like a sore thumb also because he's wearing a Pantera hat. He's letting you know what team he plays for without having to do any further investigation. You can smell them from the fourth floor coming down too. I bet they smell pretty good because they're rich. They got some Creed on mixed with a little CBD oil, probably for the rock neck.
22:30nah bro they smell like swisher suites and dior sauvage dior sauvage yeah i mean did we talk about overspray j on on the podcast yet my new favorite instagram personality i don't think so i don't
22:42Jason Stewart:think so and you were telling me about it and i said please do not tell me about this goddamn horse shit and then you showed me like i don't don't give me this tiktok slop and yeah i'm i'm a believer as they said over spray jay is a as a gentleman who does sort of like asmr videos where he um talks about fragrances he puts beef tallow on his face and then he talks about fragrances and he shows you what he's wearing that day but his whole thing is that he ain't leaving the house unless there's a couple hundred sprays so he's spraying i mean they're and they're cutting this video but it's a full minute of spraying and then he does a thing where he kind of sprays heavy on his tatted up hands and shows the glistening skin to the camera and jason you said this because we i showed you this in the in the car on the way home from the the show i think in inst paul and you were like wow this guy i think this guy actually has swag like i think this guy could riz up someone if he needed to and i wasn't expecting that and i kind of agree with he has a nice he has a nice charming voice and sort of a happy-go-lucky demeanor that i really i really respond to yeah there are a lot there's there's the fragrance guy i forgot what his name is but like i know mel ottenberg posts him a lot he's like this kind of psycho skinny yeah yeah a very eccentric dude who has all these fragrances going on and you you look at the way he interacts with the camera and he's like a real hoe scarer yeah like he feels like somebody that will have to call security about in the next you know like yeah for sure yeah he's a live i know exactly what you're talking about i know exactly what you're talking about i forgot his name and i'm sure that there are like mentally ill people that do you know seek him out for sex and everything's okay but this guy you know no shade to over spray jay but he's you know he's got all these weird tattoos all over his neck and his hands and he's he's got his like crazy white boy swag going on and he's talking in a code switching like manner and dressing in a way that would you would think would scare the hoes but when it's all said and done and this is a man smearing beef tallow on his face and then dumping the clip on like you said literally 200 spritzes of a of an awful cologne all over his body on his hand he puts the tallow on his hand to create i guess a barrier and then he sprays the hand to get a drippy effect as if he's fucking mq with the with the rusto first things first did you even tallow up because if not a little bit goes a long way pick your fragrance and nothing less than 100 sprays but i will say this as as a as someone who's at least knowledgeable to some extent about graffiti the way he sprays the the cologne you can tell he's a writer i i believe that to be true yeah people i was i was watching um tires the shane villa show and there was an episode where he gets a gun and he was like he was talking about the the the popular internet phrase trigger discipline where it shows whether or not one knows ball in the world of shooting you know how well they respect the trigger and how their finger control and the placement of where it is and he has spray discipline and that he it looks like he is he's been around a can or two he knows what he's doing i'm looking and that adds to his um machismo you know i feel like if he was drunk driving me i would be like yeah we're good oh that guy i would ride drunk with that guy anytime a hundred percent this is he has 420 000 followers on tiktok i just my man he's got 21 000 on instagram and 420 000 on tiktok shout out to overspray j that he calls himself unk shout out to him for giving us something good it it really is a testament to the power i think of amsr oh totally i know it's asmr it's one of those things where when it first came out i was like okay you i mean you little freaks can enjoy this i'm not getting hard listening to this person whisper or whatever it is that they're doing but when he's spraying that spray and it's hitting his tallow slathered hand and you just see you know the dior sauvage dripping down his hand onto his pergo flooring and you're looking at like this is none of this makes sense at all this is just for the love of the sound of spray hitting a tallowed hand and the hand it has like a baby blue bird tattoo on it or something like that with the dollar sign who knows what it is and the sound of it all happening he's creating a sound that has never happened in the history of the world and then recording it and playing it to you in a volume that stimulates your body.
27:51Jason Stewart:It's pretty cool. It's very cool. I think he's one of... He's a Foley artist. Yeah. I mean, there's Golden Globe eligibility issues for him, but I think if he was working on American Dad or something like that, he could get a nom. We could get there. We could get there, at least AFI nod. Let's get Overspray Jay a voiceover gig with American Dad. I think that's a great idea. I think that's... Smooth-ass guy. Yeah, he's so smooth. Okay, so let's talk about your pitch seen around the world. How did you feel about it? Can you rate the experience for me as an overall... I'll give it a play-by-play.
28:31I don't need a play-by-play, a Harry Carey, but just a simple... Just outside. Just a bit outside. So were you happy with your performance? No. You know how this goes. If you ain't shining.
28:51Are you even applying? No cap. This is a service I use all the time, Jason, because, you know, I'm not like you. I'm not super handy. I don't have a toolbox. Thank God there's TaskRabbit. 29:28and I know I'm not going to have to, you know, kind of run away when they come inside.
29:32Jason Stewart:But Chris, I know how to do stuff. I'm handy. But then, you know, as you get older, time is money, money is time. Certain projects, you know, the gate needs a new coat of black paint. You know, it's been hot or whatever. I could do it, but it's starting to look pretty nice to go on TaskRabbit, pay a professional to come over and do it. The cleanup's going to be done. The disposal of the shit's going to be done. 31:23Jason Stewart:but i'll talk about it and then really quick i just want to because you were talking about beef tallow i was like drunk two days ago and i wrote in my podcast show notes just the phrase chicago runs on tallow uh in a in a duncan style of way i just want to make sure i didn't forget that before i cross off my list but yeah wow thanks thanks yeah we needed that it's super important But yeah, shout out to everyone who double-chopped a photo of me throwing a baseball. But yeah, our friend Mary-Kate over at Neiman Marcus helped put it all together. And her brother works with the organization, went over there, got to hit onto the field and throw the ball around with my brother right on the grass for a little bit to warm up, which was...
32:09Did they provide you with a glove?
32:10Jason Stewart:No glove. No glove. I was just bare-handing it. I would have gone to the dugout and said, one of you motherfuckers, give me a glove. I was thinking about it. I don't respect baseball players enough not to take their shit. I don't know if anyone has a glove in my size for a lefty. You know what I mean? That's true. That's true. All these dinky major league athletes. You know those short stops. They're small. All right, so you're tossing the ball around. Hung like a bumblebee. Yeah, so I'm tossing the ball around with my brother, which honestly that was more important and memorable than the throw itself to me because my brother's a huge baseball fan him and i grew up playing little league together and i would pitch the ball and he would he would be nice enough to catch for me in the front yard pause and we would you know so he got to be on the field at wrigley you know one of like the last remaining like it's just wrigley and boston basically are the only two like original stadiums from from the original baseball days or whatever 100 years old so that was really cool and then um clark the mascot runs out posts up on home plate you go out there what why is hold on hold on hold on why is why is the the why is the mascot named clark it's a great great question i mean it's a i know it's a street in chicago but i just feels like clark is like a twerp name i got it it's named it is named after clark street chris that's it okay okay okay i didn't know if there was more to it than that clark was introduced in 2014 boring boring but now every team has has like a mascot that catches the ball it's kind of a whole thing they love the mascot try to get the kids out there you know get those tickets moving for the family blah blah blah but yeah you do that throw out the ball the whole thing is over really quick it's a very professional organization they send you like a drop box link with your assets and you know it's a it's a whole operation very smooth but afterwards we we had some great seats right behind the home team dug out.
34:12Jason Stewart:I was just ordering beers off of my phone and a guy brings it over to you. That's nice. Really nice. But then every time I had a beer, I started spelling my name a little differently. And he would, he would just, he would say it differently. And like the last one, I, it was like J-A-Z-O with an accent mark over it and N, and he was like,
34:35Jazzo? Jazzo? Because he's like a barker. He's like a guy who's selling peanuts. Okay.
34:40Jason Stewart:Yeah. I did have some peanuts as well. Love a peanut at a baseball game. The best part is just littering. The littering part of it is really nice. I mean, that's the only thing that could make baseball exciting is a little high from littering. I agree with you, though. It feels good to toss a shell. Unfortunately, my Cubbies lost, but they won the other games of the series. It was almost a sweep. But it was cool being there in a place like Chicago. you know chicago boston it has the kind of real kind of american conservative sports white guy kind of energy but it was it was feeling like a very inclusive space and there was i saw a lot of chicago cubs pride jerseys and i was just imagining what it must have been like going there in the 80s and how that was not even that would not be possible to do that but when i went to the bathroom there was a line you know the baseball bathroom line is like 700 guys even for the trough even for the trough there's but the line is very long but it's ever moving it's like a it's very yeah sure i know what you mean i know what you mean very efficient operation i was like literally maybe 140th in line i waited for less than three minutes it was pretty cool but there was a guy at the trough and he was wearing a pride jersey and no dude wanted to pee to the left or the ride of him because that would come on come on so then i cut the line past 50 guys to go pee on the trough next to next to my pride boy do you think he was just or do wow that's actually really that's actually insane so it's a good it's a good hack if you really have to go and you're in a long line of the trough bring out bring out a pride jersey or you know i don't know i should to that it'll part the sea what is the what does the pride jersey look like is it is it a flat like is it a multi-color stripe situation or is it just like a patch there's there's different options the one that i saw it was a standard cubbies jersey but then the two numbers on the back were rainbow flag colors oh that's that's tasteful actually i like that it was tasteful it was tasteful it yeah it didn't it wasn't just like trying to think of something gay to wear um it's basically just like a it's like a jacquemus tunic that's a tunic it's a single button mandarin collar tunic um it's made of a an amazing amazing fabric uh yeah that's okay that's it that's a very that feels like something that really would still happen in chicago and boston and somehow not in New York.
37:25Jason Stewart:I know, right? It's strange because I think of all these places as so similar in many ways as far as how far they've come. And if I was like a Silver Jews type of songwriter or even a Bob Dylan, I would be, Pride Jersey at the Urinal is a good kind of starting point for verse two. Pride Jersey? Alright, hopefully hopefully Ryan Davis or Jake Linderman. Hopefully none of these guys are listening. They're going to take that. Jake, take that. You have my words. Please. That's really funny. It sounds like it was a success. The beers come in a funny cup, or could you get them in a regular cup? There's a lot of different options.
38:09Jason Stewart:You can get a regular cup. You can get just the can of the Michelob Ultra, or you can get the decorative, collectible baseball bat kind of thing which uh ben edgar had one i saw a good video i don't think he enjoyed and he didn't enjoy it because the one thing about a hollowed out plastic baseball bat is that it's round at the bottom so you can't set it down so you have to just constantly be holding holding this this three-foot baseball bat filled to the brim with with alcohol oh that's funny that's actually really funny they got your ass you can't it's like having a very long ice cream cone that's how they get you drunk though you can't put it down i mean it's like yeah when i have an ice cream cone and it starts dripping i'm gonna devour that shit i'm not gonna i'm not i have to finish it fast same thing with the brewski i imagine especially michael bolter no calories exactly gotta take it and stop it gotta take them down um all right well look i'm glad it went well I'm glad that you, you know.
39:14Look, you didn't throw a strike, but you threw a pitch that could happen in the game. Do you know what I'm saying? Like a little bit outside a little bit is totally fine. You didn't bounce it. You didn't hit the umpire. You didn't go, you know, because we've seen some crazy ones.
39:29Jason Stewart:I know it could have been much worse, but I don't know. Obviously, it's all fun and games, and you can practice a million times, but when you're standing on the mound. Do you think the pressure got to you? I don't think the pressure got to me. Honestly, what got to me was I felt a little rushed because they were getting people on and off really quick. And I think I would have been better if I had the glove because that's what I was practicing with. Of course, yeah. I didn't think about that. Yeah, just the offset and then that creates the sort of muscle memory movement. Don't bring up offset. Don't bring up offset right now.
40:04But I get it. No, I get what you're saying. Like that's, I can't imagine throwing a baseball without a glove does feel pretty weird, I think.
40:12Jason Stewart:Yeah, I didn't realize how foreign it would feel. And then also the mound where it has a little kind of white rectangle that you put your foot up against. The rubber. The rubber. It wasn't out there. They hadn't, they wait for the first civilian pitch. They're like, you guys don't get all that. Yeah, so I'm going to, they're like, I was talking to a guy at the show the night before in Chicago. and thanks to everyone who came out to see us in Chicago. It was good fun. But he was like, and when you're up there, since you're not wearing cleats, you want to make sure you really dig the side of your foot into that rubber and that'll keep you nice and straight and give you the right force and the angle because you're up on the mound and it's taller than you think it's going to be.
40:56Jason Stewart:I'm like, all right, got it. Put it on the rubber. And I go out there and it's just a little insert rubber here ass area. So that threw me off. and I was like do I do the full wind up or do I do the half wind up you know is it gonna if I do the full theatrical wind up and make a meal of it then if I don't do a good pitch then I'll really look like a fucking knob head so then I was like better to under promise over deliver you know just do a regular throw but people are like oh okay made it there didn't bounce it he caught it good to go I mean bouncing it is diabolical I couldn't. I would leave if I bounced it.
41:36I would walk off the field and not watch the game if I bounced it.
41:40Jason Stewart:You know what? I think it should be like a tennis serve. I think that you should be allowed two chances. The first one, you go all out. It's great. No problem. The second one, all right. We're not going to fuck up twice. We'll do a good. Yeah. What's the baseball version of a kick serve? You know what I mean? Just really. Yeah. Underhand. Underhand. underhand whatever it takes whatever it takes well look i mean i'm glad that i'm glad that all worked out and the jersey did look good on you i have to say you look you look comfortable thank you jersey i'm glad the last minute i i chose a large instead of an extra large and i made the right choice yeah i have never worn a baseball jersey because i'm not i wasn't in dmx's crew and never worked retail at supreme but i imagine them to be never played baseball i did play baseball are you kidding me i played baseball until i was like 12 probably so then but then you wore a jersey not like those jerseys weren't real it was like a t-shirt with a couple buttons like there was it was never like an m playing in the broke hole league no bro just think about it you probably didn't either honestly you probably i played in two leagues i played in two leagues one of them had full uniforms and then one of them had the little cute cutie ringer t kind of thing yeah the yeah exactly i don't i just baseball jerseys are one of the worst garments ever made in my opinion like i just think it's very tough to pull pull it off as far as on the street on the field of course but the other thing about baseball that i think if i was wearing timberlands it would have enhanced things a little bit more i don't think so i do not think so i well you would have been it would have been harder to dig into that mound that's for sure but you're right you're right but the but the the players now their pants are like baggy and it's such a strange it looks strange it doesn't look as it doesn't look easier to play in it doesn't look right yeah it doesn't look right but also they would they would rather sacrifice the flow and ease of movement as long as they don't look gay just like the guy on the airplane eating eating his banana oh yeah we saw a guy we were we were we were flying to chicago and a guy who looked like a triathlete like literally had like a you know to me i i i had to flinch and look twice because i thought it was literally lance armstrong that's so funny because he i told you he looked like mark duplass if he was fit to me and those two people don't look alike at all but i whatever i think we had different side profile views that's why that's true but yeah he's so he's like a triathlete looking motherfucker with like the you know backpack and the water he got a garment on yeah Yeah, he's got the garment on, fit, and he pulls out the banana on an airplane.
44:17Jason Stewart:Well, first of all, the banana was in his front pocket. Crazy, crazy. Almost as if it was like a prop that set design gave you. And I was seconds away from making a, is that a banana in your pocket type joke. I hadn't even finished the punchline, but I was about to start saying it because it was just right there. and then he pulled it out and peeled it and then ripped the banana in half and then started feeding the banana to himself from the other hand. There is no, like, I know I'm... Which, and this goes back to pride urinal. Yeah, it's crazy. No one thinks you look gay eating a banana the right way.
45:05In fact, I would say it's obviously superior for several reasons. Mainly history is on our side, but also it keeps your hand clean. I don't want banana all over my fucking hand. The beauty of the banana is that you can eat the full thing and not have to wash your hands out. You're not dirty afterwards.
45:23Jason Stewart:Yeah, it's a self-contained unit. Yeah, that's the beauty. That's the beauty, yeah. I've had to, Jason, as you might know, since we've been friends for so long, I've had to force myself to like bananas. I never liked bananas. And I remember having to help you. So I'd be like, look, the flavor, it's good. The mushier it is, the better the flavor. The firmer it is, the lighter the flavor. You will really like kind of a harder one. So when it tickles the back of your throat, I think you'll like that feeling a little bit more. And that started kind of turning you around. It turned me around. It turned me out.
46:01I got turned out. And I think that a banana is one of the – if you travel a lot, a banana is crucial. They have them everywhere. it's easy, it's quick, it's nutritious it's healthier than almost every other option
46:12Jason Stewart:sorry to interrupt, in addition to it being a self-contained clean serving vessel it's also one of the only fruits that you do not have to wash before eating and bonus point, it's a fruit where you can eat an organic version or a non-organic version and there's virtually no benefit for having an organic version or not Basically, the gas station one is just as good and clean and safe as the Air One one. That makes a lot of sense. That makes a lot of sense. And it's good to hear that from an expert. Yeah, that blew my mind. That blew my mind. Yeah, so he ate it in a way. I would say whenever you have somebody who is too afraid to eat a banana the standard way and they have to rip it off into little chunks or maybe even bite it down the side like a corn in the cob, which some guys will eat sandwiches that way depending on how long and tubular they are.
47:12Jason Stewart:A JJ's a person who's particularly insecure might have to go corn on the cob style. But I think those people I think were just they grew up and they had friends that were sort of leaning more on the Nelk boys side of the spectrum in terms of you know emotional communication and sexual security and also cultural diversity. I saw some kind of LA news that could burst your bubble a little bit and I wanted to wait to tell you about it. Is this the Tesla diner? No, Rachel Zoe and her gay husband Roger getting divorced after countless years of matrimony. They gave us so many gifts on reality TV. Rachel Zoe, one of the great sort of aughts, you know reality stars uh with her long curly blonde hair and her boho dresses but they're calling it quits after like 20 plus years um and i you know i just well i think it's tough i hate to see it i saw um i think they have been divorced i just googled it and i think this happened like no it's official no it's like today it came out that it's like i think they were separated and I'm reading it Us Weekly, September 12, 2024.
48:31Jason Stewart:Rachel Zoe and Roger Berman called it quits after 26 years of marriage. She probably officially filed today, and that's why it's like. Look, I trust that you found that. I just want to make sure that you're not. Another. And I just looked at Roger, co-CEO of Rachel Zoe Incorporated. So he's still in the cuck chair. Bro, look, if your chick makes that much money and you work for her, it ain't worth breaking it up. I've seen it happen before. I hope to get Rachel Zoe on the pod. I don't know about that. Why? I don't know if Rachel Zoe is that fun, to be honest. I feel like she might have sort of tried to put that sort of experience behind her after years on television.
49:19Maybe I'm wrong.
49:20Jason Stewart:She knows better than to have an open-minded, not media-trained conversation. on record. All the good ones do. All the good ones do. All the good ones do, but you could do it in a good way. I just don't find Rachel Zoe particularly interesting, except for her, I mean, her heyday was also, at this point, 20 years ago. But it is interesting that she's completely stayed out of the limelight, really. How long gone? Listeners getting a glimpse behind the negotiation guest curtain, seeing how we work it out. No, I mean, I'll talk to Rachel Zoe. I don't give a shit. I'm not going to be excited about it in any weird way it was more of just like this is literally how we talk about stuff if you want to see how it actually how the sausage they followed they followed up they followed up about travi mccoy today so listeners weigh in should we talk to gym class heroes travi mccoy uh listeners please weigh in in a serious and earnest manner only not in a let's have pitbull do a concert in alaska kind of way yeah let's not let's not in a let's sell boiled cod yeah exactly let's avoid that i um yeah so i got back and i i borrowed a a mercedes convertible and yeah i heard you mention that on the t bpn report show dude dude i gotta talk i gotta talk actually tp t what is it t i i always say it wrong you're asking me no i know hold on i'm looking it up bntn tb tbpn at tbpn it's these guys um john and jordy who do like a daily show from 11 to 2 every weekday and it's it streams live on twitter i mean you can see it so it's three hours long yeah and it's like two two good-looking guys in la they're at like on a set and it looks like you're on you know cnn or whatever there's you know there's tickers running there there's the whole thing um and they they asked me to come on and then i go on and jordy one of the guys was like bro i had your fucking book in college i was like i was like oh great so uh you're more successful than me better looking i've been watching you and i'm old as a motherfucker thank you for letting me know um but it was it was he's paying his respects to the og it's true but it was really fun it's a really great idea and it leans tech heavy so i was kind of surprised to be on but they really you know talked to me about my stuff they didn't try to get me to weigh in on on sort of you know what's going on over at open ai and i appreciate that they wanted to keep it cultural what uh what up with the no show socks play uh what's going on with the this and that kind of a little bit i mean we talked about some current events and and you know publishing in general but yeah overall it was a pretty i think that they're uh very good at their job and and know you know they do they put in the time because they have like six guests an episode yeah i know i know people listen to my friend devin tech guru devin foley he uh he said he listens and he heard he saw that you were on there and he's like what the what yeah that's what that's what jordy was like netanyahu on nelk boys chris black on tpbn it's a huge day it's a huge day out here yeah this is this is like amazon prime day for this sector of the media exactly it was fun But yeah, anyway, I borrowed this Mercedes.
52:41Jason Stewart:Did you get the hat? Last question. It had a hat that has bezel embroidered on the side of it, like an M3 car. No, I didn't get a hat. Okay. Well, maybe for visit number two. Okay. Oh, yeah. Okay. A little upset about that. But, you know. Yeah, I borrowed this AMG, this CLE convertible, and we drove to Bedford Post Inn, which is this like it's like an hour outside of the city and it's uh in in basically like westchester so it's like rich suburban paradise but like feels like nice like it does it feels like a quaint really really uh really rich suburb and i now uh want to live there and i've only been there for photo shoots at like estates because it's like a very much like a we have horses you know we have acres and acres of land and a giant barn um does it feel keith mcnally ish going to the vineyard kind of feel it's no it's not vineyardy it's more it's it's more like kind of classic east coast american because there's no beach element you know what i'm saying so which i think kind of informs everything but the um bed for post in is this like small like hotel that was started by richard gear the actor um and i yeah i'd always wanted to go um the gigolo And finally it worked out and it was just, yeah, it was awesome.
54:03And the food, they opened like a restaurant there and the food was really good. Much, much better than I was expecting. I was very impressed.
54:13Jason Stewart:What were we eating, bro? We had some popovers, you know, with some honey butter. There was a shrimp cocktail. There was a tuna carpaccio that had a very nice wasabi pistachio, you know, type thing on it. There was an onion tartlet. There was a Caesar salad. But there was a fucking crazy dessert, like a corn ice cream with blueberries. They really, really hit. Corn ice cream with blueberries sounds like a very good upstate summertime dessert. Yeah, it felt very good. That's when the berries are tasting different. You know what I mean? The berries did hit different. Yeah, so it was good. But it was the perfect amount of time.
54:56like you know day and a half basically and the the best part is there was an equinox located only 15 minutes away so i got to go to this this kind of like hot mom equinox location where it's only busy at 10 a.m because no one has a job like all the guys are at their bloomberg terminals and the women are at the equinox sounds perfect it was amazing and the great smoothie you know it had everything you need it was in like an office park you know off the highway since it
55:25Jason Stewart:was like a you know a woodland area compared to an urban market did this equinox have any different accents like any oil lamps or things of that nature full court no just full court basketball the stretching area is actually like a really beautiful quilt hey do you want a blanket no i'm i'm i'm on the stair master like just in case your shoulders get cold here's a blanket no no no dude that's so funny oh do you want some warm apple cider while you run um yeah the it didn't it didn't have any of that it had it had but it was a very great it was a good layout i mean i've been to several equinoxes in my life and i'm going to go to the one in dc i'm sure when we're there um and i'll obviously go to my favorite location yorkville toronto but this one had a very nice suburban layout you know what i mean because the it just It felt more sprawling instead of stacked on top of each other like most of the city versions.
56:24Sure.
56:24Jason Stewart:I mean, this is why we go out of the city, right? Get a little more. I was driving this fucking convertible, and it smelled good, and the weather was 10 degrees cooler. And, you know, it was just everybody's got a fucking pond. It was something else. We don't have a pool. No tennis court. We do have a pond. The frogs are ribbiting. I want to know about the car. You said it's a CLE convertible. so that's a it's the coupe e-class it's this amg e-class with like a yeah but it's got the full it's got the full back seat though so it's like pretty okay it's got two door it's two door but full back seat but i hadn't been in a new convertible in a while and it's just so sick to be able to just basically roll down a window it's the same motion as rolling down the window takes the top completely off you know whereas like on on older ones you got to crank something You know how it is.
57:17You got to have an extra tool.
57:19Jason Stewart:You have to take some latches off. Yeah. Depressurize the cabin. Pull over. Put the emergency brake on. That's really funny. But yeah. What's the, what color? What interior color? Let's talk the trim. Oh, that's the best. Red with white interior. I was going home mode up there, baby. Walk me through the red. It was a little darker than cherry. It wasn't like 80s hair metal video red. It was more of an understated. So it wasn't like a lipstick red. It was a little darker burgundy. A little darker. But the thing about the white. It wasn't a Pinot though. No, it wasn't a Pinot. But the thing about the white interior, which I'd never thought about in a convertible, is that I'm like, this is crazy.
58:05It wasn't white. It wasn't like optic white. It was a little bit creamier. Yeah.
58:10Jason Stewart:But it wasn't cream, but it was creamier. Exactly. But you can leave the top down while you run into the store or go get lunch, and the seats stay cool. Whereas black leather, and also the seats are cooled, which is one of my favorite features on any new car. But it actually, and I was like, oh, you know what? This white actually serves a purpose. It's not just a stylistic choice, and I had never considered that myself. I think because I would never consider getting a car with white interior unless it was like my six-foe Impala, unless it was some type of old school. But yeah, black absorbs heat and white reflects it.
58:49Jason Stewart:So it makes sense. I mean, any silver lining to the cloud of having a red convertible with white interior. I like the red. It's a great vacation car. Well, it's an appropriate color for a convertible. I agree. Good point. I wouldn't want a sedan that color, but for some reason, maybe it's because we were born and raised in America. You know, a red convertible is sort of a... You see a champagne convertible. You're just kind of like, what are you doing? Kind of a waste of a drop top. But it has that. All these new Mercedes have that feature where you can toggle between two phones connected to the Bluetooth.
59:27Ryland and I discovered this on our trip. And it's literally life changing. Like, I can't believe that it's taken this long for us to get there.
59:34Jason Stewart:I'm glad you're enjoying the Benz This is great I've actually been thinking about when I'm gonna Get a new car myself, I gotta get the big body I think Yeah, you gotta get the big body If you wanna fit in with your brothers over there You know what you gotta do Yeah, and that's kind of why I'm doing it I'm pulling up to the meat markets And the cigarette shanties And they're saying You have a great car, you look cool, you look awesome Mr. Jason But But, you know, because of your size and your age and how pimp you are, I think you need to be having a 7 Series or an S-class. Not how pimp you are.
